Review of Howard Johnson 2*

Great experience for the price. I am still in awe. The outside of the building gives the inside no justice. The lobby, front desk, halls, and rooms seemed updated while the outside looks questionable. First impression, the room appeared remodeled — — updated/modern carpeting, curtains and furniture all in great condition. The room came with so much to offer considering it being classified a "two star" hotel. Imagine the price of a Motel 6 without the cold, hard atmosphere, and the comfort of a La Quinta at a MUCH better deal. Notice, we did not stay during football season and the Rangers were not home. I think the price may go up around those times, as expected. The room included: Fridge, Microwave, Iron and large ironing board, a safe (there is a small, less than $2 charge), a few hangers and plenty of lighting. What shocked me was the coffee options: A small coffee maker that offered more than a single serving, your choice of decaf or regular, and the coffee was not bad at all. For extra sugar and cream, as well as tea, the lobby keeps the condiments stocked. Can I mention, great customer service. Customer service is not necessarily a fake smile and an upbeat attitude, its being accommodating, efficient, and able to solve problems. The staff was pleasant, but what I found fantastic was the option for EARLY check in! I called that morning to see if there was any way I could check in earlier than 2PM. The lady said that if a single King bed room had already been visited by housekeeping, she could accommodate us. She said by 11:30 am something should be ready. Sure enough, 11:30 am came around and she had a room ready for us. That was 2.5 hours of sleep extra that we really needed! I can not express how much I appreciate that. The young man who checked us out was also pleasant. I was able to get plenty of work done on their FAST and FREE Wi-Fi wile sitting on the balcony. I will return and recommend this hotel to others. 5 stars for this 2 star steal!
