If I could give it 0 stars I would. First off they require you to leave a $100 deposit at check-in. That's ridiculous given the fact that the state of their rooms are already in terrible condition. They have old muggy rooms, dirty carpet, old wooden doors that are so warped they are difficult to open & close. The entrances to the facility were faulty, as in the keys just DON'T WORK! After a certain hour it is difficult to leave the premises because they have a gate that is opened/closed with a padlock. The front desk attendant has to come out to lock/unlock the gate to let anyone in or out. Felt like a jail! The sinks in the bathroom area are rusty and old. The bedding is subpar, the rooms just look so full of germs! Not to mention the toilets are so low to the ground and most plugs/light switches look so out-dated! I am SO DISAPPOINTED with this place… if you were looking to stay here, do yourself a favor and go elsewhere!

It was good from the get go! I called ahead to find out if I had to leave a deposit and they said no before I booked on Expedia. Got there and they said I had to but that was fixed, rooms were clean nice ceiling height friendly staff. Jenny and Maria were very helpful and nice would differently reccomend staying here and great price through Expedia.

The best customer service experience by far. Felt like I had a concierge service. Clean modern rooms at great prices.

This is such a miss leading place the pictures on the web page of this site are not what the location looks like. I reserved the room at the beginning of the month selected to pay at the room the day of my check in a person from the room called asking if reservation was still needed said yes asked if could charge for first night stated yes when I got the the room to check in the charged me both nights once again leaving me to pay for 3 nights. The room had no blankets the pull out bed had no sheets nor blanket for it either. Tried to call front desk and the phone did not work. The handles on the night stand we're broken the door stopper was broken and a hole n the wall. The shower had no water pressure at all the water barley came out. Sat when I returned to the room the keys to enter the building would not work so had to walk around to front lobby to get keys reactivated to get in and out of the building. I was completely dissapdisapp with my stay everything was so miss leading there not at all like the room was showing on the website where we reserved the room. The second night ac was not blowing cold air at all. I would never return and I am still waiting to get thr release on the funds to the extra night I was charged for. Completely disappointed.

Room was big and pretty clean although old and needed updating. Area was a little sketchy but centrally located. Air was not cold and went out the second day but they changed it out at 11pm and then it was cool. Upstairs bath leaked through the bathroom ceiling when it was used and got my stuff wet. They apologized but did nothing about it. Breakfast was pretty decent for a hotel. We had a kitchenette but had to ask for pots and pans and dish soap but got no utensils or plates but we had plastic and paper. Decent sized refrigerator. Only two washers and one dryer so we went to the laundromat since people couldn't seem to get their clothes out timely.

Staying in room 109. So far so good. First thing they should do is get rid of the torn couch or at least get some replacement cushions. This will be our firsy night here so I will try to update later on. Update: the rest of the stay was ok. The bathroom doors gets stuck due to all the paint which needs to. Be stripped. Overall it was a pleasant stay.

I really like the rooms and the staff. My only issue is the Sunday rate is charged as a weekend rate where every other place I've checked considers it weekday rate. If Friday is a weekend rate, Sunday cannot be. One or the other Hojo, not both. We're giving you our dollars you can leave us with a 20 here to eat with huh?

My family stayed here as we always stay at Wyndham properties! This was a HUGE mistake. It was more like a crack house. Property in general is "alright". There were people smoking weed, arguing, cars speeding so fast you seen black tire marks in parking lot. You had people up on top floor drinking til all hours of the night outside, so you didnt get much sleep. Not really a family friendly place. We told front desk attendant what was going on and nothing was done. The first night we checked in the safe was broken so we couldnt utilize it. Next night they DID change our room, so they did try to fix the situation as far as the safe. We were highly unsatisfied with our stay and the "activities" at this property. Being a Wyndham property, I expected way better!

Staff was extremely accommodating, however, the hotel is still a work in progress. The rooms aren't bad, albeit a little behind on maintenance and outdated, not to mention there is no consistent theme as with other Wyndham hotels. Overall it is not a bad place for the price, but I was disappointed being a fan of Wyndham chain hotels, this did not meet the standard in my opinion.

Very nice and conviniet to a target across. Love the pool and hot tub and free breakfast! Rooms nice and clean and very big! Definitely coming again when we go to seaworld!

The front desk clerk was extra nice. I was given 2 different rooms that weren’t even cleaned or ready yet so she had to give me and my husband another room. The rooms were ok but we could have been given the right amount of towels. The 3rd day of our stay we left the room to go downtown and came back to take an nap and I noticed that the housekeeper never changed the sheets.

Outstanding! Maria Perez the overnight front desk person was awesome. Very knowledgeable, efficient, and professional! Rooms are comfortable and well maintained. Staff is very friendly.

Nice service but room smelled like smoke.

BED BUGS! Stayed this past weeked for the Final Four from Friday to Sunday. 1st of all, there is no elevator. AT ALL! Came back Sunday yesterday and developed bed bug bites all over my body. The sofa/sofa bed was torn and raggedy. The rooms smelled, the bathroom door was discolored and wood chips sticking out. The picture that's used for this location is not what it looks like. I will never stay here again. Especially not for 2 something a night. For a Wyndam hotel this was awful!

We booked a room at another hotel and we were horrified when we got there. We called and Jennie got us in a room at the last minute. The room was extremely roomy and very clean. We will definitely be staying here again.

This place is horrible, I made reservations earlier in the day. Was on vacation with my kids, and when arrival they canceled for there mistake. So my children and I we're put out with all other hotels booked due to spring break. Not to mention my son was sick. They obviously don't care for there visitors. I would never run my business like they did. Careless, & wrong for there mistake.

Jenny was amazing, handled everything very professionally and the room was great. Very comfortable beds, great staff, and very cheap. Best rooms you'll find in the price range in my opinion.

Staff is very friendly, Jenny was super helpful in booking our reservation. Didn't have a bad experience, neighborhood is a bit rough around the edges but had a quiet, pleasant stay. Not bad for the affordable price.

Giving 3 starts instead of 2 because the kindness of the staff was incredible. Very nice people here. I've stayed at places several times more expensive and their customer service wasn't anywhere close to the friendliness here. However, I can't stress enough how unpleasant the rooms are. Very dated and dingy: lamp shades so old, no matter how well u clean them there's still visible dirt. Chipped furniture & walls. Had to dim the lights because there's so many different colors in the room it almost gives you a headache. Online list of features include a hot tub, but that is no longer the case. The only thing I can really say is that this place is in a great location. Central to almost everything. Not horrible for the amazing savings you're gonna find either. Cheap. Great staff. Ugly rooms.

Rude when arriving. I just had surgery so was looking for a place to sleep immediately. They don’t have an elevator so if you’re disabled don’t stay here. The room was infested with ants and stunk and left over food was left in the fridge. So I wasn’t able to rest had to be moved to another room cause I couldn’t get my money back. Moved to another room, it was still disgusting. I refused to even use the shower so had to go home with out having a shower. Stay anywhere else but here. Also they took a photo copy of my id and passport and I got upset and they said I could hVe it at check out and then made a deal about giving it to me at check out.

The hotel is very old, there is no cleaning or light in the hallways, the rooms very old the furniture and the bathrooms, they do not have hot water during the winter, nor do they provide water or coffee that is basic in a hotel.
Bad service.

It was cheap and so was the facilities. Bathroom door lock was not working. We had to ask for blanket. However, employees were nice.

Horrible! Edward, the night front office clerk, was very rude and aggressive! My wife had a death in the family and she called earlier to explain what happened because my wife and I had left our belongings in the room. Once we returned late that night, at almost midnight, my wife explained that we knew we couldn’t stay in the room without payment so she asked if we could just go in the room and retrieve our belongings! He refused! He became very aggressive in his tone with my wife. She even asked if she could speak to the manager. He told her that the GM doesn’t usually answer her phone this late. So she asked if he would at least try. Then he started telling her he refused and then changed it to there was a rule saying he couldn’t call the GM after a certain time. My wife then asked if he could just open the door and sand there while we retrieve our items. He became aggressive and we called the cops. Once he saw we called the cops he locked the gate that lets cars in and out! The cops even said he was wrong and that he couldn’t do that because there were other cars that would need to stop in and out! He was so very rude and unprofessional. So much so that when the cops were leaving, they recommended that we call them back in the morning to be there to ensure nothing happens. They also stated that this wasn’t the first complaint about a situation like this happening!

Staff very courteous and helpful. Spacious room. Good amenities. Dead cockroach in bathroom. Blanket not cleaned, had dirt and crumbs on it.

Needs serious upgrade. Its very basic. Kind of dumpy. It meets the bare minimum in hotle hospitality. The staff at the desk were nice. But the facilities just look worn. And the rooms are dank. We had to ask for fresh pillows. After finding nasty staines under the pillow cases. The desk personal sent fresh pillows up and we spent one night. But we decided not to spend another night. A bit of paint and new carpets and this place could be a great value.

Jenny from the front desk was delightful and helpful through our night. I had doubts because of all the reviews but we came into our room and it was clean, beds were comfortable, super cold a/c we were in room 202 and we were not disappointed. Breakfast hours were convenient but eggs and beans were cold, Im not a picky person so I just warmed it up in the microwave. Overall a wonderful experience I will make sure to come back here when I am in San Antonio. Much love brothers and sisters.

Pictures are deceiving, this place is not your ordinary Howard Johnson. The room's bed only had a flat sheet on the bed. And the bed wasn't very comfortable, felt like you were sinking into the mattress There was no comforter or blanket to keep warm with, the fridge had a black mildew all along the outside trim of the door, and the room carpet felt a little damp when we walked in. The AC unit was left on when we came into the room so it could be the moisture retained in the room that made the carpet feel wet. There was also an odor as we walked in, the walls paint was peeling in certain areas. We attend the UTSA football gsme and returned back to the motel after 10pm. We had to call in to the motel"s front desk to open the gate so we could be let back into the parking lot. At that time we were told the lot was full and needed to park in the front area. This is definitely no ordinary Howard Johnson. Next trip we will not return to this place.

Well me n my love like to get out n stay at different hotels once a month its our 1 nite we get away… Well We booked online n walked in. At. Howard Johnson Jenny is awesome… shes friendly very nice respectful n made us feel comfortable on our stay so much that now we get away for a whole weekend once a month… n we choose this to be our permanent getaway… Thank you Jenny…

Superrr! Fun Princess House Meetings!

On the midst of our evacuation from Corpus Christi due to the threat of Hurricane Harvey, I'd have to say the smiles n hospitality @ Howard Johnson Suites in Central San Antonio was awesome. We felt like we were on a mini-vacation. They were so professional and caring altogether. Thank you and we will be back soon.

Comfortable and budget hotel. The staff is very friendly and helpful and the service is very good. Breakfast is good, only it is very little for the amount of people.

The rooms were spacious and clean, they looked just like the picture we saw on line. We had a great time at the pool. We had the kitchens in our rooms that helped with food cost (traveling with growing boys. ) I loved the breakfast my bad the free breakfast it was great! It was like a family coming down for breakfast in our PJ's thanks Howard Johnson inn San Antonio.

Five stars :)! You won't regret it, it's not overcrowded and the rooms actually look like the picture. They are very nice rooms with very comfortable beds. Very nice rooms. I didn't run into any rude staff, at all. They were all very nice. Their outdoor pool is also very nice AND they're only 10 minutes from six flags by car!

It was over all a good place to stay. Spacious room decent breakfast and really clean. I dug it.

Room was average. Was not well stocked. Had a reservation for family of five and there were only three bath towels, two hand towels, and one washcloth. Did not have any bed linens for the sofa bed in the room. Clock and TV were not plugged in (guests shouldn't have to figure out why something isn't coming on). The phone in the room did not work. The temperature in October in San Antonio is still warm enough for swimming but, the pool has not been treated. The staff was helpful. The breakfast was decent.

Great experience, but there were a few things that caught my attention. The staff was extremely friendly and within no time we were checked in. First, we noticed a group of sketchy men outside our room, we didn't feel safe nor comfortable. The peephole was broken so that made it impossible to see outside when someone knocked. The beds were SUPER COMFY, but the sheets were thin and cheap. All the furniture was very used, but well kept. The breakfast wasn't all that great. To be honest we didn't even finish it. As we were checking out we noticed bugs of some kind in the restroom. Would I stay here again? Probably, the price wasn't too bad.

This is the worst hotel I've stayed ever! First room we got had a very strong mold problem, smelled horrible. Had to request a different room. Furniture is worn out. Only 2 towels for 4 guests. Bed bugs aplenty. Very small bar soaps. Swimming pool water was cloudy. Hotel staff was nice, but there's nothing they can do when the owners let the overall condition of the hotel go down this bad. Don't stay at this hotel!

We had a WOW experience in this hotel. The value is far more than the posted price. The suites/rooms are big and roomy. The environment is very clean and the location is very central to almost all vacation spots. Above all, the staff are very friendly and professional.

Howard johnson inn and suites central has the worst service! The rooms are dirty and smell like crap. When I stayed at howard johnson the beds had hairs and bugs all over the sheets this suite and inn doesnt even deserve a 1!

Nice staff accommodating, grounds well kept rooms a bit dated but decent and good value.

Location was great close to the medical center so I could see my doctor. The rooms are spacious and clean the staff super friendly and caring the hotel has the rooms on the inside so it gives you that safe feeling. Loved it hoping to reserve a room for my next doctors visit.

Few complaints. Rooms are spaious; plenty of leg room to walk around in. Beds are clean, televisions need updating to newer models. Gas stations and shops are within reasonable walking distance, save for traffic. Breakfast options are standard fare,

Hotel Johnson is very good place to rest very good breakfast eggs sausage and beans, very clean room they are very friendly the prices are the best you want to spend a few days you'll love it. Recently stayed at the Howard Johnson, great service staff and management very attentive to our needs. Laura and Jenny very professional, great customer service. Exellent location to all attraction locations in San Antonio. Would recommend stay in this location.

The staff has been excellent. Laura and Carlos have been extremely pleasant and helpful. Carlos has gone out of his way to make our experience and stay a great one. Highly recommend this hotel for single or family stay. The room is huge, clean and comfortable! Had the unfortunate experience of staying at the Howard Johnson down the highway off Dezavala and do not recommend them at all! The manager over at the Dezavala location is the worst! The other staff member Ashley is ok tho. I must point out the breakfast here at the Howard Johnson central location is amazing. You get continental and even hot breakfast as well. I was able to get scrambled eggs with my waffles and juice. I'm a coffee person and the coffee was good as well. If your looking for great hotel for one night or several weeks this the place to come to.

It's better than it looks. The rooms were a little muggy, but very spacious. The rooms could have used some more cleaning for sure. Very comfortable though. The pool (outside) was nice and clean. Breakfast wasn't all that great. Just a waffle maker, some eggs & beans, cereal, but not great. My family and I did enjoy our 2 night stay over all.

I had requested an early check in with them. And they said yes, I get here and they told me I couldn't check in because my room was still occupied. As well that they don't do early check in, the front desk guy was really rude about it and was acting like a complete smart ass. I will never come back to this hotel ever again.

I was hesitation booking at this property, but was my stay excellent. Laura was very nice and professional, the furniture was a little worn, shower handle was pitiful, but I really enjoyed the room and bed. First time in months of hotels that TV and remote worked perfectly. If I ever have a home emergency again, I'm staying at Howard Johnson.

Room was worth the money but displayed minor problems with attention to detail when it was built. The staff was accommodating and friendly when they were approached with questions.

When asked to pay, the management wanted a 100.00 deposit on top of the room rate. They would hold it for one week. No way. They also needed to inspect the room to see if it had been cleaned.

Rooms had an odor kinda like the place flooded and was not cleaned properly. We mentioned the smell and we were instantly moved. So we can't complain but never again ok for 1 night.

Great hotel for the price. We booked for $59 a night (2 queen beds) and it was by far the best hotel I've ever stayed at in the $50 price range. Clean room, clean beds, limited access, awesome pool, nice bathrooms. No complaints. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

What a great stay I had here! The staff is friendly. The breakfast in the morning is great fresh eggs and sausage. The price is great! The rooms are really larger then normal! I would stay here again.

If I had paid $140.00 a night like I do (at company expense) at Holiday Inn Express (where I normally stay when my company picks up the tab) I would have rated this hotel 3 stars. But I'm not. I'm paying $50.00 per night plus tax for a large room like I would get at a Holiday Inn Express. The room I stayed in has new carpet, new mattresses (yes I pulled the sheets back to check for bed bugs and noticed the mattresses). Walls are freshly painted. Lightening fast Internet. Micro wave. Small fridge. Iron and ironing board. Normally in room AC units are noisy. This one barely whispers. The furniture is in good shape but it is dated and you know what? For 50 bucks a night I LOVE dated! If I am ever in San Antonio in the future and the money is coming out of MY pocket, I will definitely stay here again.

I came to SA on business. The company I work for didn't give me too much to come down here. I spent 229 for Monday through Friday. The first room I got was hot. If the AC doesn't blow out cold air just ask for a different room, they'll happily give you another. This place is next to a shell with cheap gas. Theres a dominos and a subway down the street, its right by a highway. Theres a fridge, a safe, and a HD TV with HD channels and internet that's pretty fast for free. All in all, yeah the place isn't in that great of condition but when you're paying 54 bucks a night its definitely a good deal. My bed did not have bed bugs. Theyre also CHL friendly.

We'd stayed at Howard Johnsons before and had a great time. It was late when we showed up and I was told the only two bed rooms available were the executive sweets. I paid 120+ $ for a room that was hotter then it was outside, dirt on one of the beds and the room looked like crap. I've paid half as much for twice as nice. I would recommend looking elsewhere.

On March 13th 2013 I booked a room for a night. I ask them I would like to do early check in lady told me that, there will be a $25 up charge. I admit to pay $25. But later on I didn't need it. @5pm when we went to check in our room wasn't ready till 5:45pm. I told the lady (Amy) @ the front desk that, if I would check in early you would have charging me $25 now you are giving me the room 3hours late what are you going to do about it. She say sorry there is nothing I could do. Next day when I spoke to the manager (Laura) she gave me the same answer. Room qualities doesn't match the brand stander. won't give them any business or recommend anyone. First impression was bad. There wont be any second chance.

The room was spacious and comfortable, the bathroom was clean, carpet dirty. The breakfast was bad, and they didn't have flour to make waffles. They stole from us a new toy we bought my son, no claim since we learned a couple of hours of leaving the hotel. Its location is good, as is on 10.

Rooms. Very clean, non smoking. And allow my puppy to. Stay was a plus,. Total cost. $103.00.
