Family and I went to Hilton Head for summer vacation and rented one of the town house condos. Our room wasn’t ready when we checked in and we had to wait at least 30 minutes and they could not give us an estimate as to when the room would be ready. The furniture and room looked like they hadn’t repainted or changed any furniture since 1995. Very outdated look and feel. Upstairs AC in our townhouse we rented hardly worked. The ceiling fan wobbled so much I thought it was going to fall on me, so when we called maintenance, instead of fixing the problem, they turned down the fan speed. Wow thanks! Couldn’t have figured that out myself! Our jacuzzi tub was nasty and smelled like rotten eggs and sprayed water all over the room. The pillows in all of the rooms were uncomfortable. The staff acted lazy and like they hated their jobs. We were also told we had a place with “close walking distance” to the beach, which was actually a 20 MINUTE WALK. Unacceptable. On top of all of that, Shipyard will not refund our 150 dollar security deposite for 30 DAYS! Despite being told it would be refunded after checkout by an employee. I could understand waiting a day or 2 so they can make sure the room is in good condition, but 30? Are you kidding me? We will have to pay interest to our credit card company for that money now. This was absolutely ridiculous and I will never come back here again. Take your money and family elsware. It may look pretty on the outside but you can’t judge a book by its cover. I have no idea how this place has a 4.4 star rating. There’s probably even more wrong that I can’t remember just because there were so many problems.
