Great place to visit or live in Hilton Head Island. It has everything you need for a great vacation.

Older, but nice gated plantation. Bike trails throughout, black top trails on the bumpy side-in need of update. 2 exits/entrances. Fire station on edge of plantation. One private beach entrance by club house. Public restrooms. Usually see an alligator or two in the big ponds. Tennis courts & golf course.

Nice place but limited access to beach.

This year was my families 15th time staying in shipyard. Great place, safe and easy to get around. I would recommend it to anyone.

Houses are typically on one-time lots and you can bike to the beach. Beach Walk, The Greens, Tennismaster, and Colonnade Club Villas are walk to the beach.

Easy bike ride or walk to shops and restaurants. Great beach access.

We have a two bedroom villa here that we use about six times a year and then rent through Island Getaway. I'm sorry for the the bad review from the person who lives here, but we love Shipyard and we do consider it our home away from home. I agree that the auto decal people are a little casual about how they do things, but we just figured it was the southern way. Otherwise the people we have met here, security, the staff at Sonesta, everyone has been so friendly. If we decide to move or 'upgrade' we would not go anywhere else other than Shipyard.

My family had a wonderful stay at the Beachwalk Hotel. The peaceful atmosphere was very close to the beach, restaurants and shopping. We were surprised at the distance to the beach and shopping since we had been offered a free shuttle ride. Breakfast area was very clean and the food was plentiful. The pool area was clean with the exception of ashtray on one table. Our suite was awesome. Plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 18 yr olds. Overall, I am very greatful we found this hotel and will visit again.

I will never come to this hotel again! I had prepaid for two rooms when I bid for a hotel via Priceline and this was what I got. When I checked in, Mark, the front desk personnel, stated that he can only find one room under my name. He would not accept my itinerary, confirmation etc. And said that he can only go by what is in the system under my last name. What is the use of a confirmation number? Instead of being proactive in resolving this issue, I had to use my cellphone minutes to call Priceline. After all the transferring and holds, they called up the hotel and spoke with Mark directly and even faxed him a printout of my prepaid itinerary. There was no apologies and all he can do was shrugged and said, "I can't tell you who did it, but all I can say was that we screwed up". What happened was that when I called to confirm 1 month ahead of time, the front desk lady that handled my call the evening of 04/29/10 accidentally deleted one of my rooms. There was no compensation for the hassle and the general manager, Steve, was not on location. 4 hours later when it was time to check in, none of our rooms were ready. When we finally got a room, our tiolet was flooded and we kept on having to use the lobby's restroom. The whole experience was just horrible and if it wasn't for my family's calmness, my trip would had been ruined from the start. P. S. The so called "free shuttle" that takes you from the hotel to the beach just happened to be out of batteries while we were there.

I am not sure if all the previous guests actually stayed at the hotel we saw, because if so they have incredibly low standards! It was disgusting! We were booked there on a promotion for a timeshare presentation. Upon arrival, the parking lot was completely empty-not a good sign. The room we were given had not been cleaned and the previous guests trash among other disgusting items were in the room. It smelled musty and old! The pool was closed and the stairways were under renovation. We opened the door to the room and promptly turned around and left.

We stayed at this hotel over a holiday weekend, and there was water leaking (at a trickle) into the parking lot all weekend. When we woke up Tuesday morning, a repair crew was working on this leak, and we had no water to shower. Several hours later when we got back from the beach, the repair crew was gone, but there was still no water. The management had given us no warning that we would not able to shower. They were entirely unapologetic and rude. They claimed it was entirely out of their control, when of course they had intentionally let it leak all weekend to disturb as few people as possible. They offered no refund or apology of any kind. I finally got them to agree to a measly concession of ten dollars, which they then did not actually give me when they charged by credit card. Their computer system was also down, so I got no receipt. I left an address for one to be mailed, and they never sent it. I will never stay here again. The management was unprofessional and discourteous. The room was not particularly affordable or nice, and the hotel is half a mile from the beach. There are plenty of better, even cheaper, options closer to the beach on Hilton Head Island. I'm disgusted with the Beachwalk Hotel.

My hubby, kids and I stayed at the beachwalk inn for 4th of July! Some people reviews say its a long walk and they are wrong! The walk was beautiful and with an 18 month old and 4 year old it was still fun! The rooms are small but who goes to Hilton Head to stay in a Hotel the whole time. The staff was great and very helpful!
