What a GREAT hotel! Wonderful staff, excellent rooms, always there to help! One of the best hotel experiences we have experienced. If you are considering a stay in historic downtown Charleston this is THE place to stay!

We are spending our last night here in Charleston. We came from Texas to celebrate our 10th anniversary. I cannot not enough about this wonderful hotel and its staff. We have had the most amazing time and we are already looking forward to planning another trip back.

So when we visited they were doing some renovation's, nothing crazy but I really appreciated that because of that they offered free drinks and snacks for happy hour every day of our stay! A cute little boutique hotel with FREE parking and trust me in the historic downtown area that is a huge win. Harrison and the other staff at the front desk were wonderful and gave great suggestions. Overall a great little hotel.

The best part of this hotel is its location. That's mainly what you are paying for in the end. You can walk 2 blocks and bam you are on king street. Or you can walk about 3 blocks and you are on market street. The pool was small but that's the usual in Charleston. The rooms were okay. Pillows way too small for a king size bed. They were almost square shaped. The bathroom was nice.

Great service, booked through online deals portal. The room was clean, hotel under construction while were there but no dust. Just odd carpet unfinished in the hall ways. Hang tag parking for guests even if cramped. Walking distance to lots of food and desserts. Would stay again if the price is right.

Wonderful staff and very accommodating. It's a boutique hotel and the amenities were nice. They were currently renovating so there was carpet on our floor that needed to be changed out, however, they offered free amenities to give us a good stay. Also, free parking!

What a perfect hotel. We loved the small feel, the every time greeting as you entered, the free coffee and tea, the cookies AND that the entire place was Perfectly Clean. I do not remember staying in a motel, ever, that was this clean. Even the lobby bathrooms we alwasy perfectly kept. We will be back.

I would give this place 10 stars if it were an option! We took a girls trip to celebrate my daughter and her friends 16th birthdays. The staff made sure that they felt special the entire stay. I can not say enough about the service and hospitality. The location is perfect and they help you with every aspect of your trip. Can't wait to go back!

The King Charles Inn is conveniently located on Meeting Street with ready pedestrian access to a number of restaurants and destinations in the area. The staff is professional and accommodating and overall the hotel meets the rates it charges. Parking can be an issue as the spaces are limited, but we have always found the (last) spot if returning late in the evening. Rooms are updated, and comfortable,. The King Charles is a very fine option when visiting Charleston.

Friendly and helpful staff from the moment we walked in. Beautiful, clean room with the most comfortable beds! Walk out the front door and all the shops and restaurants are just steps away. Always a friendly greeting as you leave or return to the hotel by the front desk staff and doorman. Free onsite parking is a huge plus. They really think of everything from the nightly reception with cheese & crackers and happy hour priced wine to a supply of umbrellas by the front door for use if it's raining. My family really enjoyed our stay.

WARNING — DO NOT STAY! We stayed here for 3 nights and we will never be back again. We checked in on our first day and the room was not ready so we had to go out for lunch to kill time. We came back around 6:00 PM and we were told our room was ready. We arrived at the room and there were chunks of hair on the bathroom wall and in the shower. The bed was not made and looked dirty. We were looking for a phone number to call the front desk and looked in the side table drawer and TO OUR SURPRISE… we found USED baby wipes and PERSONAL ANAL LUBRICANT AND… BUTT PLUGS! NO JOKE! We told the front desk and their response was "Sorry there is nothing we can do. " We requested the room be cleaned by housekeeping and they came up 45 minutes later with no knowledge of the situation. We spent our entire first night in Charleston occupied with our room situation instead of enjoying the night life. Also, on our check out day we had a staff member ask us if we were guests at the hotel while laying by the pool. They questioned our legitimacy as they repeatedly asked us what our room number was as if we were lying. We have never been treated so POORLY by "southern hospitality".

Recently stayed for a night and fell in love with the hotel and what it had to offer. All of the staff were Welcoming and wanted to help in any way to make sure we had everything we needed. The rooms were clean and spacious. We ate breakfast in the dining area and enjoyed it. The food was great and at a good price. The hotel is in walking distance to a good bit of Charleston's main attractions. Will probably be staying at this hotel again in the future.

Beautiful spot. I love the history and the staff are kind. Very convenient for downtown shopping and all the restaurants. What a spectacular place.

Very friendly staff. Very well maintained building. Seems new not like it was built in the 1950's. Love the free parking. Nice comfortable and quiet rooms. Amazing location! Easy walk to the city market, waterfont park, king street shopping and more. Some reviews have said the bathrooms are small they are a decent size.

Great hotel in great location for sightseeing in Charleston. Can't do better for being within walking distance of popular sights. Between Marion Square and City Market, one block from King Street (restaurants and shopping), and on Meeting Street. Older boutique hotel. Finishes are good, but not new. Staff is very helpful. Free parking on site. In house breakfast restaurant and evening pub are pleasant and good value. Not newest or fanciest, do a good job at reasonable rates for upper mid-level lodging.

Staff is very helpful and friendly. Loved the location, easy walk around downtown. Room is a little smaller than big chain hotels, but very clean and comfortable with nice amenities, including cable TV, Wi-Fi, refrigerator and a safe. I liked that parking was included in my rate, unlike other hotels nearby. The breakfast is not complimentary, but is made to order and very reasonably priced. I will return here.

Swung through for a cocktail with my girl while we were walking around town. Very nice place with a super warm staff. Next time we're in town, will definitely consider staying here.

Great hotel centrally located to the very picturesque downtown Charleston. Staff was very nice! Free parking was a plus as it can be hard to find street parking. Room was on the smaller side but adequate for my needs.

The location was great and allowed for a close walk to many great restaurants. The hospitality was also fantastic and made for an enjoyable stay. The rooms and pool area were really nice and were more than I was expecting.

Great location near a lot of great restaurants and stores. Hotel is pretty great as well. Staff is friendly, lots of little perks, a nice little bar. Rooms aren't overly amazing but they do the job. Would recommend it.

Best hotel experience I have ever had. This place is so accommodating. For my boyfriend's birthday, the front desk made sure there was champagne, glass flutes, chocolate, key lime pie cookies & a note waiting when we got to the room. We were able to check in 2 hours early. The wine and cheese happy hour was delicious. Every single staff member was super nice. The bed was the most comfortable bed I have ever slept in. The location of this hotel is perfect if you don't have a car, we were able to walk to restaurants & bars with no problem. Overal amazing first time in Charleston thanks to the King Charles Inn.

The hotel was nice — comfortable common areas, good bar with indoor and covered outdoor seating. The room was large, good shower, but I found the bed to be very uncomfortable. The staff was overly professional, which was also uncomfortable at times. Note that the hotel does offer breakfast, but it is not included with the room rate.

Luxury hotel near market area of City. Located on Meeting Street a main tourist area. Free parking! No free breakfast but reasonable food pricing. Happy Hour with cheese, crackers and fruits. Great City to visit, very historical.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Room was on the small side, but bed was comfortable and the bathroom was very clean and well-appointed. Free parking is nice, but the lot fills up and we had to street park one of our two nights. Location is great; there are many good restaurants and other stops in easy walking distance.

My favorite place to stay in Charleston. A block from king street and a block from city market means you are within walking distance of a plethora of things to do, drink, and eat. The beds are comfy and the rooms are clean and there's just something about this place that makes you feel like royalty. The rooftop pool is also spectacular.

We stayed here one night on out city trip. Really awesome central location & the rooms were authentic, in an old English style. A plus was the free self-parking & the pool. Staff was really friendly. We'd definitely recommend this place.

A warm and clean hotel with pool and parking included. A competitive price for this hotel located in the heart of the city. The City market, the Waterfront, the French Quarter and other points of interest are within a 15-minute walk. I would stay there again without hesitation.

Splendid place to stay in the midst of the old quarter. Moderately priced. Manager's reception with drink discounts. Clean spacious rooms. Helpful front desk staff. Free parking but lot is small and may not be able to handle full occupancy.

This hotel was a real treat. The rooms were small for our family of four, but we made it work. They were so lovely, clean, beautifully decorated, and with lots of nice touches including free water. The location could not have been better. We splurged on this hotel and it paid off. It was our anniversary and they sent up chocolate and champagne. The staff was incredible, accommodating and helpful. They made reservations for us, recommendations to us, and answered every question perfectly. Highly recommend.

What a wonderful place to stay while you are in this beautiful city. The hotel was beautiful, our room was cozy and clean and the staff were polite, knowledgeable and friendly. The location is on point. We parked and never had to drive anywhere. Everything we wanted to visit was in a short walking distance. I would highly recommend this hotel and I now have a place to call home when I want to visit this beautiful city.

From the moment we entered the King Charles Inn, we were instantly treated like royals. The staff was very charming and willing to help us in any way that they could. It was raining when we checked in, and we were immediately offered a large, King Charles Inn umbrella to use during our visit. We stayed in a luxury king room, and it was fabulous. It had a beautiful balcony deck completed with patio furniture and a table. The beds were very comfortable, and the rooms were so nice. We enjoyed fruit-infused water by the pool overlooking downtown Charleston, and there was always somewhere by the front door ready to open it for us and bid us a good day. We will definitely be returning to the King Charles Inn during our next visit to Charleston! Room Tip: The king luxury rooms have privacy balcony decks great for enjoying the weather.

Ah, so many things to say about my stay in King Charles Inn. Free parking, wonderful old time decor and furniture specific to the area, quiet, friendly staff, perfect space for the king room, free cookies and tea daily, happy hour, perfect location for walking around, shopping and sight seeing. I'm impressed to find a nice place for a nice price!

This will be my place to stay when I come to Charleston every time! You cannot beat the location, the quaint and cozy vibe of this place. Happy hour, cheese cubes & cookies oh my! I will be recommending this place to friends and family! The staff was extremely friendly and helpful prior to and during our stay.

The atmosphere of this hotel is really nice. It is clean and the service is good. The location is perfect because it's downtown Charleston and you can reach everything (Bars, restaurants) just by walking.

I cannot highly recommend this place more! Great staff, great location! I just returned from a trip to Charleston and stayed 2 nights at the King Charles Inn in the Deluxe King Suite. Staff is polite, attentive, and courteous. Rooms were cleaned and restocked appropriately. King Charles Inn even takes that extra step in hospitality and makes you feel truly welcome with a wine and cheese happy hour every day and, at least for us, a gift bag waiting in your room filled with snacks, chocolates and a personalized note from the manager. Situated perfectly between the south/north broad neighborhoods and the bars and shopping of King Street, excellent walkable location.

Great location. The staff were very friendly. The only draw back was the bedding. The pillows did not make for a comfortable four night stay. Would suggest better pillow that are not overly soft or options.

The front desk people were wonderful, Daniel and Dalton made us feel at home from the minute we checked in. Also, the beds were very comfortable. Between mattress and pillows we slept very nicely :)

We stayed at King Charles Inn for 1 night n our roadtrip. It's a great location and great value in heart of Charleston. The decor is traditional in keeping with the name and theme of the hotel. The staff is very helpful and friendly — really make the experience pleasant.

From start to finish my stay at King Charles Inn was top notch. Staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating and my room was clean and quiet. My view was of the parking lot, but that's okay because parking is on site and complementary. The location is very close to shops and restaurants. Easily walkable. Will stay there again!

The location is Great. Everything we wanted to do was in easy walking distance. The price was reasonable, considering the area. The rooms were clean. The staff was very accommodating and professional (brought up extra pillows, provided umbrellas). We got a free upgrade to a King Size room (no asking required) which I was very happy about. The exterior and common rooms are very nice. The other areas (hallways and guest rooms) are good but not quite as stately as the exterior of the building implies. But still nice and clean. The bed was actually comfortable. We slept well. There was no noise or disturbances to complain off. Parking was so convenient. I didn't eat at the restaurant and we did not swim in the pool though they looked well kept. I would happily stay here again.

We stayed at the King Charles Inn on our engagement weekend, and it was fantastic! The staff is wonderful, and they all knew us by name by the end of our stay. It is right downtown, and made our weekend very easy when it came to getting around the city. We even had to leave our luggage after we checked out, and they were extremely accommodating. If you are looking for an affordable place to stay in downtown Charleston, this is the spot! We will be staying here again on our next trip.

The building is nice and also the interieur. The first room they gave us was directly across a construction side and quite noisy. When we claimed this issue they were very unfriendly but we got another room. The breakfast was not included for the rate of over 200$. We ordered breakfast anyway. We got some cold fried eggs so we claimed it again and the reaction was a harsh sound against us. So we can not recommend it.

My wife and I totally enjoyed our stay at the King Charles Inn. The room was great, the staff friendly, courteous and helpful, and we found the bar area very relaxing and a great place to unwind from a day of walking and seeing the sights in Charleston. Maureen Sheridan is the GM and she and her staff made us feel at home and a little bit special. My wife and I will be back.

The general mgr informed me how much money they are losing on my reservation because I bought my room on priceline. I asked if they would consider refunding me one evening because I had an issue at home. She got very ugly with me and made me feel very unwelcome. This hotel has a $50 early departure fee that they dont have listed.

My husband and I just returned from a two night stay at the King Charles Inn for our First Anniversary. We got there early, and the staff was more than happy to let us go ahead and check in early without problems. We reserved a king room without the balcony, but was upgraded to the balcony for no charge. They knew it was our anniversary, so we had a hand written letter from the Manager, chocolates, and a bottle of wine waiting on us in the room. The hotel is in a perfect location, we were able to walk everywhere and only got the rickshaw when we were going out to a nice dinner both nights and did not know where the restaurants were. The Hotel has been renovated some since the pictures on this site. There is now a sitting area where the bar area was, and the breakfast area has been replaced with very nice chairs and tables and new bar — which has an AMAZING bartender, Taylor. He helped us with dining options, touristy things to do, and made great drinks! The bar was kind of a hidden gem for us. We didn't know it was there at first because no one told us, and it really isn't advertised. We ended up spending time there before dinner both days. They have a social hour with cheese, crackers, and fruit. This was nice for everyone to mingle and talk near the pool and lounge/bar area. The staff was amazing, the rooms were fabulous and comfortable, and the location was great.

The staff was friendly and it was in a great location for exploring Charleston on foot. The facilities were well kept and clean but a bit confusing, since there was no easy way to get to the room from the lobby. This may be due to the architectural restrictions in Charleston. Also, the rooms were over decorated to the point that it limited usable space within the room. Maybe due to age, the walls between rooms were not good at isolating neighboring sounds, but this was not a big deal for our stay. We were unable to book a room with a balcony, but worth checking out in the future.
