My advice to people when booking your hotel it's best to go directly to the hotel. I booked my family vacation through expedia everything they told me that were including was a lie. Thank God for the manager of the hotel my family and I can enjoy our stay. The staff's are extremely friendly, they make sure your needs are met. I'll definitely stay here again. Thanks to the manager and the staffs.

Just got back from an awesome stay at the Red Lion Hotel. It is very family friendly with a spacious indoor pool and huge outdoor pool, along with tennis courts, playground, and basketball court which my children loved. It is very reasonably priced and has easy access to Hersheypark. The manager, Randi, made us feel welcome and worked hard to make sure our visit was a great one. We will be back!

The housekeepers are amazing, especially Kenya. She was so sweet. The overall quality of the building is in obvious disrepair. Lots of stains and dings and chips in the walls and paint all over the place. Rooms are quite spacious and have temperature control, which is nice. The restaurant is terrible and expensive, especially the breakfast buffet. The sour attitude of a lot of the employees (including managers, if not especially) is only tempered by the over-the-top awesome attitude of other employees, like Kenya.

My family and I stayed here for 2 nights this week while we visited Hershey Park for the first time. The 1st receptionist that checked us in was awesome and very friendly. She kicked off our vacation on the right foot. She was highly informative about the hotel, pools, games and restaurants. She always had a smile in her face! The hotel was larger than I expected. The outdoor pool area/ landscaping was very well maintained and their was always staff around to help. We met a manager in the hallway and she welcomed us also with a great big smile. Our room was clean but it did have a slight odor. My parents room was also clean and did not have an odor. Whenever we called front desk to ask for something they were at our door in a flash. Excellent quick service with a smile. I would absolutely stay here again with zero hesitation.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. Many choices as far as amenities go and the rooms are very spacious. If I would change anything, it would be some updating, some maintenance, and some uniformity. For such spacious rooms, I should expect at least to have a refrigerator and microwave and coffee maker in each room. Mine had none of those. I loved the big screen TV though. As far as updating is concerned, while the fitness center has four ellipticals, two treadmills, an exercise bike, a cable machine, and a set of dumbbells that goes from 5 lb to 65 lb (wonderful), it all could use a bit of updating. Especially the weights. They worked just fine but were rusty and of various brands. There were also various leaks in the fitness center's ceiling. The carpeting throughout the hotel is a bit worn and dated. Having said all that, I would definitely choose to stop again if I'm in town again. The various amenities that the hotel offers outweighs those things in my opinion. Whether you have a business meeting in the amphitheater or a reception in one of the banquet halls or simply want to have a nice weekend with the kids, the place has a lot of choices.

Rooms are in rough shape. No fridge/coffee maker. The rooms are in need of a massive overhaul. If this is how they represent the name Red Lion as a independently owned franchise, I'd be pulling their franchise. The indoor pool was warmer than the hot tub. Not the quality I was expecting for the high price of mother's day weekend…

Rooms are dated. Lobby and other areas have been renovated. The restaurant was par. We want for breakfast buffet and food was cold and limited selection. Take cloths were dirty and looked like they had never been washed. It took forever to get juice or water because there was only one waitress for a crowed restaurant. The indoor pool was open when we went and the water was very warm, almost like a hot tub. There were a lot of dead bugs in it too. Nice playground area outside. Close to restaurants. Not sure if I would stay here again since the cleaning staff did not even make the beds even though we didn't have a sign on our door.

I have stayed here on 4 different occasions for trainings and I loved it each time. They provide for your toiletries if forgotten, staff is friendly and caring, just an overall wonderful experience. The rooms were spacious and clean. I would stay here again as a vacation stay rather than just business related.

So I got a Groupon deal for this place and expected one thing but got another. Our room was bare minimum. No refrigerator no coffee maker nothing. But the bed was unbelievably comfortable and large hence the 3 Star Rating. The breakfast is NOT complimentary. It cost $11.99 if I remember correctly. The jacuzzi is great and the indoor one was always too packed with kids to go in. The outdoor pool looked awesome but wasn't open yet I was there in April. Boyd's Big Tree Conservatory is fantastic if you're looking for a great hike. Would not recommend for a couple/romantic getaway!

This was the nicest and friendliest hotels I think I have ever stayed at. Every single employee was super nice and friendly and very helpful. The rooms were nice and I did not have one complaint.

I spoke with Randy Stewart (owner) about my most recent stay. He is a sweet guy and he fixed the issues we had. It's not too often an owner or manager will call you to try to make things right. Therefore, I'm editing my previous review. We had such a great time the first time we stayed here. Our most recent stay was more than likely a fluke due to the volume of people staying at the hotel. I will definitely give this hotel another try.

Claims to be pet friendly, not really. Imagine dogs barking, what a silly concept. I don't appreciate being accused of the dog barking so much. She was pretty quiet, considering there were 3 other dogs on the floor. Calling for housekeeping 3 different times in one day. I waited so long I had to go to the store to buy toilet paper. Would I stay here again? No!

Update: Randy, the Regional Manager saw my review & was affected by it. He has made every effort to correct my unhappiness. He's done a wonderful job making things right by going above & beyond. In addition to making things right, he's going to fix the room asap. Being a down home southern gal from NC, I love the hospitality. Nothing makes things more pleasant than fixing the wrongs & being hospitable while doing so. Thank you Randy. You're a stand-up guy & God Bless you for everything you've done for my family during our stay. I wasn't going to come back but I will now knowing that he listened & makes things right. Initial Review: It took a long time to check-in. I was so tired that I was ready to leave & go to another hotel, however, the regional manager saw to us getting comfortably checked in. It's neat & clean until I went in the bathroom & saw mold on the walls that triggered my asthma. The beds are hellish to sleep in. It's time for a desperate upgrade as they're hard & lumpy. I got caught on camera when I snuggled in for a nap to test out the bed.

Vicito a lot this hotel about 10 times a year one of the best hotels in Harrisburg In my opinion my favorite. The staff were very helpful. All clean. I have rod to have a few beers and happy hour in drinks table Villar to play. Restaurant. Play Area in the lobby. 2 swimming pools. One inside the hotel and another outside. Park for children to play outdoors. Jacuzzi. In short many things nice. To spend it super well.

Very nice & this was there first conference. They had some issues but the manager said to let him know of anything he could do for the conference. He objective was to assure everyone was quite satisfied.

If your looking for a hotel that has friendly, passionate, close to attractions this is the place. It has free Wi-Fi, indoor and outdoor pool, hot tub, playground, bar, fantastic resteraunt, and they even have shuttle. In all departments the staff knows how to make their clients feel comfortable. So I had some issues that I made known. And to my surprise the Owner/Manager came and found me and we discussed the problems and agreed that they were real. He took full responsibility and fixed all issues. He was very passionate about my stay and wishes to make you stay the best he can. And they are currently working on upgrading the property which was one of my concerns. Like they have brand new Mattress in the rooms that are great a brand fiber optic Wi-Fi network which is fast and the employees are great as well. Our stay was for business their meeting rooms are great as well. They have a bar and restaurant on site as well as nice pools.

Decent quality, however value is not great. The material conditions need some upgrades to justify the cost of the room. Comfortable, clean rooms and quiet at night. Pool area seems nice. Staff is friendly and courteous.

Pool tables are a nice touch off the bar. Bar menu is pretty limited. Blackened chicken salad was very good. Had the Red Lion Pub burger… not much different than any other burger. Price of beer is high. My friend ordered a Stella and a Miller Lite for me. $9. Seems high for the area.

Nice hotel has just about everything you want. Good location near good selection of food it's definitely time to upgrade the rooms. Staff is really nice and helpful especially the front desk.

I enjoyed my night at the Red Lion. Rooms are very spacious and beds are extremely comfy. Due to weather… was force to shut down. So instead of sleeping in my truck. I decided to sleep in a bed. Breakfast was amazing! Amber the concierge had a upbeat personality and warming spirit she made me feel welcomed Thank you.

Very cool place great atmosphere and cool workers there the ONLY draw back was that it's not closer 2 me and that there is in home little convenience store 2 by things other than that I totally awesome… Kudos 2 Lottie the Greatest bartender that has ever lived… she made the stay worth the trip.

Location was convenient, although not easy to see from the road. Front-desk staff was friendly and informative. Facilities were clean. Ballroom was spacious and easily accommodated the event I attended. Waiters were equally friendly and accommodating. I would have zero reservations recommending others to hold/attend social events at the Red Lion.

Nice place. Lots of great amenities. Wonderful rooms. Was surprised there weren't fridges in the room. Was under the impression my room came with a comp breakfast and it didn't. Great place nonetheless.

I like this hotel because it is very clean.

I was at the Red Lion Hotel for a Banquet. This is the 3rd year for a sports team my Son is on. The Banquet room we were in this year was very nice, clean and the food was pretty good. We were given 2 choices of dinner, a nice salad, rolls and butter, seasoned green beans, mashed potatoes and everything was very good. The desserts were pies (2) and (2) types of cake you could choose from. They served Iced tea, lemonade, coffee, and hot tea. All of the Servers were very nice and friendly. All were dressed professionally, and all were quick to offer assistance with anything. The Coaches were able to hand out awards and provide the athletes each a gift. The facility also provided a stage, and all the wiring needed for the slideshow of the entire season. Nothing bad to say. Sorry for the long review I wanted to send out positive reviews for those that deserve it. Oh and ample parking up front and free to park. The ladies room was clean and plenty of soap in dispensers. Hope to see you all next year!

Good hotel for the excellent service.

I loved very quiet easy Internet access free, very good service, very nice breakfast and very clean and organized rooms.

The best service you could ever get! RANDY the hotel manager is AMAZING! The staff in the hotel so helpful and very accommodating! The hotel is about 20 mins from Hershey Park. Price is just a steal! Very clean. Indoor and outdoor pool. Gym, arcade, ping pong tables and a park for the little ones, even a tennis and basketball court. Pets are welcome there too. Very close to shopping and restaurants. We were a large group of 4 families with kids and Randi and his staff checked us in and got us situated in NO time! After we got to the rooms Randi came to make sure everything is to our satisfaction! Highly recommended spot! If you are in the area … or planning a visit to Hershey Park definitely call Randi for your accommodation. You will not be disappointed!

This hotel is good. There is both a indoor and outdoor pool, A tennis court, playing area for the kids, and an area to play pool. It's family friendly. The rooms are very spacious. What really makes this hotel is the staff. They are the most friendly and welcoming. Mick is great and bent over backwards many times to make sure that our family enjoyed our stay. We owe him a big THANK YOU!

We would definitely come back again! Our room was a standard room with king bed and sofa bed. It was spacious and plenty of room for our family of 4. Our bed was comfortable and clean. There's an indoor pool & outdoor pool which were both open until 11 pm. There was also a playground for kids by the outdoor pool. In the lobby there was a small arcade room and another room to watch TV which had a ping pong table. We ate a buffet breakfast at the restaurant in the hotel. Breakfast was more than muffins & pastries with a station to make your own waffle. Our kids breakfast was only $3.99 and HUGE! Kids meal pancake was size of plate and came with generous portions of either bacon or sausage. Hershey Park was less than 2o mins away. There's also a Target located conveniently across the street if you forgot anything. If planning a visit to HP, this is definitely a hotel worth considering. They have package deals which will provide you 2 adults tickets and 2 free breakfast buffet vouchers. Totally worth it!

I was excited to stay here because I heard many good things… Arrived at 3:00 pm, a little early so room was not ready. Well our room was not ready until 4:45, I thought this was a little crazy — how long does it take to clean room? The room was a nice size but the fact that we kept finding apple jacks on the floor made us think how could our room not be ready at 3:00 PM and the toilet bowl kept backing up. Our room overlooked the roof which would have been fine until I saw workers on the roof when I woke up! The grounds were nice. The breakfast was ok nothing great.

I want to live here forever. Very clean, large rooms, giant outdoor pool with a playground for kids, indoor pool too with good hours. 24 he gym was nice. Laundry services were inexpensive. They have a ping pong table. Also an arcade. Food and shopping very short distance away. I wish I had added an extra day to my trip just to be in the hotel. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay.

I am giving the hotel 5 stars because the experience is just awesome! First I will start by aknowledging the man at the front desk named Terrance who was extremely polite and gave us a fabulous room. Then I will say that my room was in great condition upon arrival. Very clean and very big suite. The indoor and out door pools were great, the restaurants were awesome, the billiards and arcade room were a great addition, and the bar wad also great. Literally see no reason why you would have to go anywhere else. Thank You Red Lion for a fabulous Birthday Weekend and awesome experience.

I have stayed at this hotel several times and I'm never disappointed. It is older, but very stylish and elegant. The staff is amazing, great amenities for singles and families. They have pools, Good food, nearby shopping, onsite bar, fitness center, and are close to many attractions. The rooms are clean, big, good showers. My only complaint is they need to improve bed comfort. They were pretty hard.

Super-responsive housekeeping staff! I had a problem with my room, and am engineer showed up within 5 minutes to fix it. Give minutes after that, the hotel manager came to apologize that everything wasn't perfect. That's awesome service! As far as the hotel itself goes, the public areas, like the outdoor pool, the indoor pool, and the deck are gorgeous. The room we were in was in the middle of being updated; for example, it had new carpet and nice tables, but the wallpaper and the sofa bed showed wear. Not a big deal. I got the sense that they're slowly updating everything. A very nice place to stay with kids.

Toilets don't flush properly. Free breakfast is not fit for consumption. As the stay moved to day 3, I went to shower and found MILDEW in the tub. I will say that the Hotel Manager, Randy, stopped by my room to talk and discuss the challenges. He made adjustments to my bill and offered to switch my room to another. He was gracious, respectful and very helpful. Because of the challenge with the restaurant, his staff offered (and I took) $20 to have breakfast elsewhere. This covered my food at Bob Evans just a few blocks away. Because of the concern shown by the manage and his staff, I would definitely stay here again.

First of all, I want to know, why is this hotel rated as a 3 Star? Tyson and I had a wonderful time all 3 times we were there. The service was above and beyond. We was treated with respect and the courtesy from the staff was over the top. We had a small problem while we were there and the GM. Randy contacted Tyson personally and corrected the problem immediately. From our experience, Tyson and I decided to stay at the Red Lion whenever he is in the area. From the GM. Randy to the cooks in the kitchen the service are superb. The housekeeper was very friendly also. She made sure we had what we needed. If they treat all of their quest the way were treated then I am sure that 3 Star will soon be a 5 star. Thank you Randy and staff and may God continue to bless each and everyone of you.

First let me say that the staff are very nice. The rooms are clean but the walls are scuffed and the carpet is terribly stained. When we went down for the continental breakfast they had hot and cold breakfast foods on the buffetThe buffet was not separated into complimentary breakfast and breakfast you pay for. Luckily we found out when another family entered the restaurant. The only complimentary food was the cold food which did not consist of much. You have to pay $12 a plate for the hot food. I was very disappointed because at every other hotel I have ever stayed at, complimentary or continental breakfast meant all food on the buffet was free. We left and went to a restaurant, ate a better meal that was cheaper.

Missing weights in the gym. Good Wi-Fi. Mostly clean. Rooms need to be updated badly. Stains on cloth covered furniture. Nice employees.

I travel a lot and this is one of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at. The rooms are old and outdated. The beds are very uncomfortable. The whole building looks like it's a time capsule from the 1970s. The Wi-Fi is also terrible. There are also numerous stains on the roof of the room for you to wonder about. I would look elsewhere if you want to get a place to stay.

The restaurant was great and you can't beat the price. Kids eat free with a paying adult. The chef and staff went out of their way to be extra kind to our kids. The hotel was really loud because of a cheerleading convention that had groups staying there (no parental supervision), but the manager was wonderful and they tried their best to make up for it. They also tried to put an end to the noise when we called. The experience was really enjoyable and I will definitely be going back. I'd probably go back once the outdoor pool is open since the indoor pool is pretty small. But it's nice to have two options, and the playground is gigantic. The accommodations aren't brand new, but they are still quite nice, and the price you can't beat.

I like this place it's better than just a motel I actually went in this hotel around March 17-20 for a hockey tournament, the staff is very nice and always positive they did a wonderful job with everything. But the rooms were outdated and needed some improvements. The walls were very thin and you can kids screaming from other rooms.

The hotel staff did a wonderful job at checking me into the hotel and ensuring that I knew where to find my room. The room was nice and had everything that I needed to have an enjoyable stay. The worker at the in house restaurant was exceptionally nice and was willing and able to get me what I wanted without hesitation.

Went there for a dinner event. Nice location, good parking. Food was average, but coffee service was slow. Overall, pretty good.

We went for The Pros event to meet with wedding photographers. The hotel itself seemed clean and orderly. Didn't stay in any rooms, so I'm not sure how the service is.

Attended a conference at this facility. Staff was very friendly and the facility appears to be clean. Conference rooms are very cold and the large room offers very poor viewing angles due to poor layout.

This is the fourth time I have had the privilege of staying at this hotel. There are not enough words to say how friendly and helpful the staff is. I was greeted by name at the front desk when I arrived. During my stay and my work at the hotel the staff was immediately responsive to our group's needs. They checked in with us multiple times a day to ensure that we did not need anything. Guests and their needs are obviously this staff's first priority and they go out of their way to make sure that no one wants for anything. You will be greeted with a smile and they will go out of their way to make your stay enjoyable and relaxing.

The actual rooms could use some updating but overall the staff have been extremely friendly and professional! Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel is a bit dated but very friendly and helpful staff. I stay there often for business and the service is always great. Staff speak to all guests and make polite conversation. Again rooms are older but clean.

The ceilings were very low so tall people would have to duck, the floors were stained, the whole hotel smelt disgusting (we had to by febreeze just to get through the night), the bathroom was dirty, and the walls are very thin so we could hear everyone above and next to us and they had crying children which was a nightmare to try and sleep with. I would never reccommend this to anyone!

After a long day at an outside event we came back to an uncleaned room, desk sent someone up for a quick bed make and clean towels and that was it, we can hear the conversation from the people in the next room, be careful of what you say because it is not private. Staff very friendly, hotel was nice at one time but could use update.

The staff was friendly and the lobby/pool areas were nice, but the first room I got had a horrible stench and the carpet was stained everywhere. They gave me another room that was pretty much the same as the first. I was expecting to see roaches or bedbugs, but luckily didn't see any. The breakfast is mediocre. The elevator smelled like a trash dump and the carpet in the hall ways is faded with stains. This place needs renovation and feels like a dirty motel. I would never stay there again!

We planned a last minute vacation to Hershey park and this place was a great place to stay. Our room was very clean and the area was nice. The hotel staff were very friendly and it's a great place for children because of its indoor and outdoor pool, the park, and also the arcade. Although I read a lot of bad reviews I did not experience any of them. I especially liked the little computer near the entrance that helped us find the address to near by places even though anybody could use their cell me and my wife's phone were under 5% and would shut down any minute so that computer was really useful. The only problem was that the TV did not show any channels for kids but they adjusted by watching the cooking channel also our check-out time was not the best but it's okay.

Unbelievable! Rat infested can't believe they are asking people $179/night! Not worth more than $39.99. Our party had 4 different rooms in the morning we all said the same thing, rats, paper-thin walls, and noisy. If you stay here you will not have a restful night sleep. Not to mention the half a mile trek to our rooms on the 4th floor. The elevator only takes you to 1, 3, and 5. You walk around ramps to your room, so to go to the lobby from your room and back is planned with much consideration. I can't believe this place isn't condemned.

First off, this is now a Red Lion, not a Holiday Inn. People were friendly, but the place could do with a face lift; very outdated and tired looking. Beds were clean and the room was quiet. Overall, not a bad place to stay.

I wanted to send a Thank you to the Sunday buffet staff and hotel. November 9th I made reservations for the Sunday buffet for my family/friends to celebrate my son's church dedication. I have been to the buffet several times, but this was the first time for a lot of my family. The staff was incredible. Thank you for helping make the day so special. We appreciated all the hard work that went into it.

Wanted $12+ for a small breakfast. Carpets are worn. People are nice. Its an older building.

Just arrived. The staff is extraordinarily awesome. Got to the room and it was a bit small for 2 adults and 3 kids. Called the front desk and simply asked them if they had a larger room for my family of 5, and boom the biggest sweet they had. Not to mention hooked us up with breakfast everyday, and even lugged our luggage to the room. Top notch! Room is awesome, thanks to the staff.

I have been there, several times, over the past few years, and will return. I liked it so much, I will be running an annual event there, too. Other than not including free breakfast, I love it all. That's okay, though, as the paid breakfast that they offer, is excellent.

This place is disgusting and completely unethical. During, check in, we were put in the 390 A Wing (yes, this place has wings) and we were told "sorry, we don't have any upgrades available" without asking for any, and then offered a free drink at the bar (more on that later). Rude. Upon arriving in our "wing" I immediately noticed a horrendous stale odor as if this had at one point been the smoking section of the hotel, even though it is all non smoking now. Our room was air quality was equally horrible, and the carpets thoughout the corridor and even the room were disgusting, unclean, and stained. For over $150/night, our room did not even feature a a microwave or mini-fridge (I have stayed in ECONOMY hotels in which this standard room fare! ). The room itself was filthy, with dust on top of picture frames, stained and scratched furniture, and the bathroom was a joke. Hair in the sink, hair and stains in the toilet, and hair and stains in the tub. After getting settled, we went to the bar for some food and beverages. I had stupidly left my ID in my car (we took my husbands on this trip) and though I am WAY older than 21 the bar wench told us that she could not serve anyone in the party if one of us didn't have an ID. That's a load of crap. That just means that she can't properly do her job and insure there is no underage drinking at her establishment. (I ordered a water, by the way. My husband and our friend ordered adult beverages).

The Holiday Inn East is an excellent place to stay or have any event. Their staff is incredibly accommodating! We have help numerous events there and loved them all. They all went smoothly and we are very appreciative of their staff. It is also a great place to stay, beautiful and spacious rooms. We love this place and continue to use it for all our stays and events in Harrisburg. I think it is 5 star and would highly recommend it! Tom and Tammy Lundgren.
