I was there for 2 months at the beginning of the year and the staff was great and my room stayed clean I would definitely go back if work needs me to.

Lousy motel. Our room smelled like fermented cabbage, filthy carpet, no air conditioning, only window ventilation, the room was all around gross. Rude and dishonest owners! Not the place for a family vacation. If you smell of rotting fish and body odor, this is the place for you.

Only gave it a 1 because it wouldn't show a negative number. Reserved a room online, I also stated I will have 2 dogs. Got their and SUPPOSEDLY they tried to contact me because the room I rented is not pet friendly. They said there is a room available in a different part. I looked the roomwasnt even made up yet, (check-in time was 130. It was 2pm when we arrived). The room was not much bigger than a closet. Needless to say I found a different hotel. Funniest part is I received a call from the website I made reservations through to see if I had a problem. They had the same information to contact me as this hotel. I told them everything, they refunded my money and asked if I would put a review of this place on their site.

Interesting place. Have been going there for years for annual holiday with family. It is a pet friendly place which we all bring our pets.

It's a fisherman's motel. Good and friendly service. Lights were dim, one burned out, but we were out fishin… would stay here again without question.

Friendly helpful service. Great cleaning facilities for fish and clams.

Loved it. Nice and clean. Close to restaurants and stores.

Proprietor had the audacity to accuse us of smoking in the room when we most certainly had not. Caught up with Roth and punched him in the mouth for being a weasel. All in all my time at "Captain Johns Motel" was bittersweet. 3 stars.

Casual rural motel in Charelston. Nothing fancy, but we stay there while visiting Shore Acres State Park and Sunset Cove. Cooperative staff.

It's old, it's cheap, they're trying to improve it while keeping its character. Handy to the harbor, Oregon Marine Life Center, etc. You can park a boat with trailer here, clean your fish and boil your crabs here. If you are picky about amenities and newness, go stay in a big chain motel or a tribal casino hotel in Coos Bay/North Bend and pay their rates. You get what you pay for.

Captain John's is an older motel, but still clean and comfortable. They are conveniently close to the marina and about halfway from the main road (Cape Arago Highway). I was there to crab at the docks, but crabbing had just been closed. Staff was very helpful in recommending clamming and even offered to loan me some rubber boots (they didn't fit). I still went crabbing farther up the coast. Great thing about Captain John's is they have their own cleaning and cooking station for your catch. Bring $4-5 in quarters for the gas meter, but the motel office will make change for you also. Espresso nearby at Bayside Coffee and good fish and chips at Miller's.

Told when we arrived there were no downstairs rooms available… apparently all booked up with fishermen. Several hours into the evening, the parking lot remains near empty and most of the downstairs rooms unoccupied. Very disappointing to my husband who really struggles climbing stairs. The room is clean though and the shower is deliciously hot. Nice also to have a spot to cook and clean our crabs.

The room was clean and came with a microwave and mini-fridge. Bathroom was was pretty big, but no tub. The water pressure for the shower was non-existent. They do offer coffee and danishes at the front desk in the morning, which is nice.

Nightmare and over priced room was filthy had to change my own sheets just to stay. Spent 300$… 100 per night. Everything very dirty. To be fair I had a pet friendly room but literally the beds were very dirty with hair in the beds and bodily fluid stains on the blanket with faint booze smell. Front desk guy was semi helpful but requested we wait 40 mins so he could have a maid come and clean. This was at 8oclock at night… we have a toddler with us and needed a timely fix for the situation. Ended up changing all sheets and pillow cases ourselves. Discovered TV cable didn't work also. When we contacted the front desk he asked that we deal with it tomorrow. If I could give this place a negative 10 review I would. So bad. Unfortunately did not get pics of the blankets but all in all very gross. Wi-Fi was spotty at best. Would recommend no one waste their hard earned money here.

Last minute trip only place that had a room. Walking distance to a nice restaurant called the Portside. Bed was too hard for me but the wife loved it.

Pleasant stay. Accommodations were to be expected for price. Linens we're clean, the rest of the room below avg for cleanliness. The floors probably haven't been cleaned in years and there was food from previous occupant in mini fridge. Staff is friendly.

We are going to stay at Captain John's next summer so we visited it to scout it out. It is right next to the bay and across the street from the Portside Restaurant, which​ has excellent seafood and views of the bay. The motel is just down the road from a coffee shop and other stores to visit in Charleston. We look forward to staying there.

It was amazing, so comfy and cozy. Just a little walk to clamming, nice restaurant and bar across the street. Love the kitchen it has everything you need, very quiet. Cindy took really good care of our room she's a sweetheart, thanks captain John's we will be back.

The room was decent. There was some loud techno type music we could hear through the wall for most of the night which sucked. The location was good though and close to where we wanted to be. There was no A/C and it got pretty warm in the room during the night.

The hotel was quite nice and clean, good rates for a reasonable room.

Thank you Captain John's Motel for hooking me up with room during the busy 2016 Valentines Day weekend. The room was better than most Motel 6 chains that I've stayed at in the past and has a good bathroom with a nice shower, comfy bed, TV, fridge and microwave. I will stay at this motel again for sure if I visit Charleston again in the future. :)

Was a horrible experience. Hated everything about it, including the management. Room was filthy, room stunk of wet dog and mold. Management left and wouldn't answer the phone when we called the office multiple times. There was a party in the room next to us and kept us up all night long. Management fought me for a month to refund our stay, after originally agreeing to a refund the day we left. Worst motel experience ever!

Liked little to nothing. Reserved a handicap room six weeks in advance with confermation number, got there, no hdcp room available. None smoking room reakked of tobaco. Rubbed wet wash. Cloth on carpet, picked it up and it was filthy. The kicker, someone had messed in their pants, left them next to the wall of our unit, reported to the office, it was finally removed six hours later. Two of the attendents, either the managers and/or owners could hardly speek understandable english and have no idea what customer service is. If this is the last choice in town, get back in your car and head up or dpwn hwy 101, do not stay in this joint.

We loved this vintage hotel. The owners/managers were fantastic. The room was clean and quiet and the location was the best. We can't wait for our next stay there.

We stayed 3 days in this beautiful hotel and I highly recommend it (yet I am often very critical! ).
The rooms are large and clean and bright. The staff was very nice and spoke french or English, which asked us so no communication problems.

Dont stay here if you have pets, or smoke. You get the worst rooms possible. Walked into our room heater was not workimg, 4 hours later, and second trip to office got someone to our aide. Our room was dirty, hand print behind toilet on wall, carpets were so bad we had to keep our shoes on. Lamp shades curtains stained dirty, everything was old and disgusting. I won't be staying here again.
