This place is entirely misrepresented on its website and hotel booking websites. This was NOT a hotel and the pictures they post of the lobby are for the Hotel Ballast — not the Riverview Suites. The Riverview Suites website has all these beautiful pictures of rooms but our room didn't look like that. It was shabby and the bathroom reeked of sour towels. I found an empty Four Loko under the cabinet. No one ever came to change our towels or clean our room, but honestly, we didn't even know if were staying in a hotel or a condo. The only time someone came was at 10:30 on our check out day (check out is at 11). The amenities that are listed on the Riverview Suites websites were never to be found. I suppose they are located at the Hotel Ballast? Could've fooled me — the front desk staff was entirely unhelpful. The woman checking me in literally pointed to the location of where the building was. There was no signage — she didn't tell me anything about how to get into the building. No carts and parking is far away so you inhave to carry everything. We had to make three trips because you can't park in the building's actual parking lot. I assume that's for people who live in the building. We booked on Hotwire and I typically know what to expect when I book online. My issues is that there are people booking on the Riverview Suites website that expect nice places and are left with trash.
It wasn't all unpleasant, finding the place is a little bit of a challenge. Then checking in/out at another location is kind of a pain. Add to the bummer effect you have NO where to park included. You can park at the check in place for an extra fee… BS factor there. Noise and traffic from the construction is a buzz kill. The bed was a little like sleeping on a board… FIRM as hell. While it's a great view, not planning on rebooking this one unless improvements like parking and the construction is done.
