Red Room Durham Duke Medical Center is a great location. The hotel staff is very friendly. For the rates it is a fantastic option for such an awesome location.

Terrible service we ended up Going to Comfort Inn next exit down. You lost 7 people for business! Stupid woman at the desk was Rude and no professionalism!

This review is for the Red Roof Inn in Durham, NC. This was by far the worst hotel experience I've ever had. When we arrived to our room after check-in, the room was still dirty from the last guest. The beds were a mess, trash was overflowing and on the floor, and all the towels were dirty and left everywhere, plus the in room safe didn't work. I called the front desk to let them know and they said they'd get it cleaned right away. We left to go to our event and came back over 12 hours later and the room was in the exact same condition. I went down stairs to get a different room and the lady at the front desk handed me new towels and that was it. I even told her I'd take new sheets and make the beds myself, but she said I'd have to take it up with the manager in the morning. When I was handed the towels, I used my foot to hold open the door so I could take the towels with both hands and the lady freaked out and started slamming the door on my foot and screaming at me. For no reason. I am not exaggerating. I was neither aggressive nor belligerent. She screamed and the cop that was there on duty came over and looked as confused as I was. He apologized to me and said I'd have to take it up with the manager in the morning. Meaning myself and my guest still had to sleep on dirty beds. I went back up to the room and the lady called me back down to give me a new room (she made no mention or apology for her earlier uncalled for freak out).

Worst experience ive ever had at a motel/hotel. Weren't allowed to have the doors open or step outside. Making absolutely no noise but everytime we went out of the room they threatened to kick us out. Came back from a night out everyone was tired so we were absolutely quiet but as soon as I enter my room I get a phone call saying we are being to loud. Absolutely ridiculous I felt as if I was staying at a prison.

It is very small and find bug in the hotel nasty but cop walk around here don't know where.

I received great customer service from Ms. Phyllis, she is a great asset to your company. Ms. Phyllis is very knowledgeable, she has a smile that would brighten anyone day. Easy to find location, clean room, not as many amenities as expected for the price point, friendly staff, sufficient parking, nearby food options.

I stayed for four days I cannot complain about anything the service was amazing (shout out to ebony) she was very kind and helpful and my house keeping gals they are on point when it concerns keeping my room clean I really appreciate everything and thank you all for your help.

Strolled in late night as we were driving from FL to MA. Knew this place wasn't our first choice but given our tiredness and the fact we were traveling with a dog it would work for a few hours of sleep. Upon entering the room it reeked of stale smoke which is ironic since there are signs posted throughout the building and indoors stating "100%" smoke free. You could feel the springs in the mattresses and the bathroom was super cramped. There was a red, used wash cloth hanging from the shower curtain bar that the cleaning staff missed. Wasn't horrible but not even close to being the best. It served its purpose, somewhere to sleep a few hours and to shower… with a dirty wash cloth looming from above.

The location was reasonable, close to the highway we were on. The room was a bit cramped, the A/C unit was working but leaking. And there were signs of water damage on the ceiling even though we were on the highest floor. The staff was very friendly though.

At your Red Roof Inn Durham N. C. The room was terribly foul smelling. There was no others room so we had to stay in another hotel (Holiday Express) up the street while still being charged for a room at the Red Roof Inn.

This was a truly AWFUL experience. My husband and I booked a stay coming in from Maryland for memorial weekend. We arrived in the wee hours of the morning. The rooms looked nothing like what we we had seen online. It was a scene out of the first 48! The room was filled with the aroma of cigarettes and it just wasn’t clean. We didn’t even put our things down. We turned right back around and demanded that our reservation be canceled. We went just down the road to La Quinta and they accommodated us and gave us a night free. I wouldn’t waste your time, I was truly disappointed.

The hotel smells funny and I had either small dead bugs on the top of my bed or unless it was some kind of seeds or drugs don't know, but it was something. It's on the noisy side from the traffic and someone was loud yelling at someone. The room looks OK and the bed is comfortable. The pillows could be a little thicker and I just noticed that there's no hair dryer and forgot to bring one because most places have one. The staff when I got here was nice.

I've stayed at several Red Roof Inn's, and the Durham Duke location is one of the best. Not only is it located in a (relatively) safe area, but the staff were extremely nice (front desk was pleasant and clean, a grounds keeper opened the elevator for my Mom, when regular coffee was out, they quickly worked to have more). If/when I return to Durham, I'll definitely stay here again.

Not a bad hotel but definitely cheap. 2 pillows per bed, mini fridge didn't work, very low water pressure. But it did have a working microwave and coffee maker. Was cheap and convenient and if all you need is a clean bed, it'll do the trick.

The service here was adequate and for those that are staying long term, some staff will work with them. The cleanliness of the room is questionable at times depending on who was on shift. The parking lot is clean and seems to be well-maintained. It is in a very prominent area close to a lot of shopping centers and food centers.

On the plus side it's near every major artery in North Durham. Highway access is conveniently nearby, restaurants are abundant, stores are varied, and generally you can find everything you want or need within a 5-mile radius. Including quality health care. On the downside it isn't the most cleanly Hotel I've ever been inside and amenities are non-existent, or might as well be. It's cheap! That's always a plus. There are reasons that it's cheap! That's something you should keep in mind. However, importantly, I think it's a pretty safe Hotel, so you can rest easy on that note.

No complaints. Good price good room. Was already warm which is nice. Active cleaning staff. Rooms by the interstate are loud only downside. Good hotel would stay again if I return.

Red Roof Inn at 1915 North Pointe Drive, Durham, NC 27705 is a very conveniently located established motel with a friendly and knowledgeable staff. Scarlett at the front desk makes a great pot of coffee and gets you registered in the blink of an eye. My room was very clean and warm, as I arrived in early December 2017 on a chilly morning after spending the night on a Greyhound bus in-transit. Scarlett gave me the card-key to a room that was waiting for me even though it was a little before 10 am and the room would not normally be assigned until noon. Thank you Scarlett and staff! (If I could make 1 suggestion for improvement, it would be to have a refrigerator in the room. But the ice bucket is fine for the small amount of food I had. ) Price for room with king bed, no smoking, wheelchair accessible bathroom for 2 nights is $112.34. Real bargain, and thank you again.

I took a gamble when I booked my room. I live in Florida and red roof here is definitely not a place you want to stay. But based off reviews and location, I booked a room and crossed my fingers. My room was cleaner than some 4 star hotels I've been to and the staff was pretty Friendly! I will return, hopefully in a couple months:)

For the cost this hotel met our needs. There is no breakfast, but there's a Bojangles nearby. The location is very good.

Nice motel I would stay here again. Our room was nice and clean. We didn't hear any noise. The people at the front desk was so nice. Our room had hard wood floors so we didn't smell dirty carpet. They should put more wash cloths in the room and why is the ice machine so far away? When we go back to Durham this is where I'll stay.

Just checked out and reserved an additional stay just in case I need it tonight. Clean room! Comfortable! Friendly and professional staff! Great rates! I had to stay at another hotel Saturday night due to no vacancies here. The other hotel cost more so I expected more. Not! The other hotel was awful. Red Roof Inn far surpassed the other and I'd stay here any time.

The cost is reasonable. The rooms smell musty. Recently they are having trouble getting/ keeping good housekeepers. The manager is friendly and seems interested in good service. The location is quite convenient to Duke University and several chain stores and restaurants. It is also RIGHT next to the highway. They are pet-friendly and 100% smoke free. There is a designated pet-walking area — YAY!

Clean, friendly, older hotel. Basic room with no extras. Coffee and tea available @ no charge in the lobby. Beds not super comfortable. Nice shower. No blow dryer, refrigerator or iron in room. Iron and board available at office n/c.

Not the worst Red Roof Inn. Staff is friendly and curtious. But I give this place 2 stars because to get a microwave and a refrigerator you most pay more. And yet I don't even have a coffee maker in my room. Motel 6 might have been a better deal.

It's not home, but it sure can feel like it. It's not a three star hotel, but it's location is convenient enough that you can make your room a three star experience. For those who can't afford a peace enforced place, but can find peace a little easier than others, this is the place.

Rooms were decent. Two Front desk clerk, a lady and the Gentlemen was very polite, the others were trying to be… although house keeping was terrible. I was gone for a whole day, only thing was clean was trash can and dirty towels. The bed wasn't touched & neither was the floor. I had to make my own bed. Floor was sticky. Great price. They need a good housekeeping crew.

For the price you can't beat it. The room was clean and neat, the beds were comfortable, they had nice art hung, the A/C worked great and we adjusted it to keep the room nice and cool all night, we watched HBO on the flat screen TV, and I finally had full bars on my (Verizon) cell phone! It was great! The only downside was there is no fridge! We needed one but oh well. And there is no breakfast food, just coffee.

Small room. Cheap A/C runs all the time. They set it to 65 to keep humidy down. Set it to 75 and the room becomes a sauna. No fridge, no microwave. TV tech was great (can control from smartphone). Like the shower. Toilet was not fixed to floor. Floor was sticky weird (floor polish I hope). Bed was nice… good sleep. Staff were nice. No breakfast, but do have coffee.

Room smelled like smoke, especially the bathroom. As if someone recently smoked in there. My daughter has asthma, which she can not be around too much smoke without her flairing up. I called the office and reported that the room smelled like smoke. The front desk clerk recommend to come and spray some spray in the room to take away the smell. She also stated that she would take off 10$off our stay. What is 10$? I deserve a full or partial refund. I will be taking this up with the third party site I booked with. Stains on blanket. The room doesn't look like anything online. It is small and looks very dull in person. I will not recommend this hotel. Please don't waist your time.

Rooms smelled extremely clean. Wi-Fi was terrible. Location was alright, near restaurants. Parking was tight.

Well the bed was a bed, the shower worked it but was very dirty, There were condom wrappers in the night stand and the room smelled like old sweat. The people staying here are extremely trashy and prostitution is very prominent. I did see the police drive through a few times, which made me a little more comfortable. I'm thankful for a place to sleep and shower but outside of that, it's no good.

Do not stay at this hotel. They may have renovated the rooms but they need an exterminator. We woke up to a large bug in our bed… took a picture and immediately packed up. Went downstairs to tell the receptionist and with a nonchalant attitude he said we will discount the room 50%. We came home sat our bags down and a bug came out the bag. We had to unpack outside and immediately wash. Don't stay here.

I spend a nigth in this hotel whit my lil girl. At the tchek out a was waiting in the looby whit my 2years old in the gay joseph who is in the receptiin ask my to live and stay in the rain whit my toddler it s my first time and my last time. Tnk soooooo mutch I will never forget that. This gay it so disrespectful.

I dislike this place not because of the actual hotel but the guests. It was literally a mad house and the trashiest people I've ever seen. Kids screaming banging on walls. I work nights and have to deal with loud people but this place took the cake. I also had the cleaning ladies making it their mission to disturb me. I put a do not disturb and went up the road to the store and caught one in there when I got back, suspicious if you ask me! The staff was okay though and the room was nice just not for me, I paid to sleep and never got to.

Got the low rate room with double beds. Turns out that — it was close to the freeway and very noisy — it smelled of cigarette smoke even though it is supposed to be smoke free — when I asked the front desk lady for a room away from the freeway, she said that all those rooms are reserved. That was a lie, probably the lady was too lazy to tell me that those rooms are more expensive and to ask me if I want to pay the difference. I couldn't sleep well and woke up at 5am because I couldn't breathe due to the smoke smell. I had to open the room door for half hour at 5am to make the air more breathable.

My wife and I stayed here for a few days during a surprise trip south that she had planned for me. We had Duke tickets and it was supposed to be an early Christmas present as well as a small honeymoon for us. Unfortunately during our first night here my vehicle was broken into, and my radio was stolen. The staff were very helpful and understanding of our situation with our vehicle. They made sure I could park directly outside of the office, and even moved our room closer so I could keep an eye on my vehicle. The district manager even credited us some nights stay because they felt so bad that this happened. Rooms are clean, and price is right. Everything worked as it should. Free Wi-Fi, and overall nice amenities. If I had to choose a place to stay again while in Durham, this would probably be it. If I had just one wish, it would be that this hotel would be located in a less crime related area.

The AC in our first room wasn't working very well, so Ricky at the front desk moved us into a bigger room with GREAT AC at no extra charge or begging! He was a pleasure to work with and overall it was a great stay.
