This was really one of the worst hotels I've stayed at in a long time. The location is great, and the staff are friendly, but the place needs a lot of work. The room was very very small — much smaller than that depicted in photos on the website. So small that it was hard to get into the bathroom due to the placement of one of the beds. The carpet in our room was wet, the fridge in the room barely worked, and the door was really hard to shut and lock. The free breakfast left a lot to be desired as well. I know the price is right for the location, but if you have other options here I would urge you to explore them.

Pros: The staff were very nice and helpful. The breakfast and snacks was good. I liked being able to get coffee for myself andapple juice for my children for free at anytime. The beach was very close to the hotel and very convenient. Also the pool was clean and refreshing after being at the beach all morning. The room was clean updated. The shower looks like it was Redone recently and had a good amount of space. The ac worked good and the fridge as well. No bugs inside the room, I checked because I’m very parinoid Check inn and out was very easy. Our room was ready an hour before check and they let us go ahead. Cons: the rooms are small. As well as the bathrooms. The shower was perfect for my hight at 5’5 but my husband who is 6’3 had to crouch to use the shower head. And the space to use the toilet was small. But again you arnt there to stay in the room all day either you are there for the beach and sight seeing. I did notice a few beetles and coach roaches outside on the hallway but I did not have any in the room at all. It could also be because of the trash cans outside located for you to throw your trash away from your car plus people throw food around all over. We found a pair of kids shoes under the bed which means to me the cleaning people don’t check under the bed regularly. Overall we had a great vacation and would absolutely stay here again and would recommend it to Our friends. We stayed in June of 2018.

This wasn't the first time online reviews and photos have lead me astray but it is by far the very worst! The photos posted by this hotel of the rooms are extremely misleading. There are two buildings on this site, one newer 2 story and one much older 3 story. The photos must be of the newer one because where we stayed was NOT nearly as nice, updated or clean. The location was the only plus for this place. I can't say much one way or the other toward service as I only interacted with the front desk attendant for less than 5 minutes. Do yourself a favor and look at the photos on the website and compare them to the actual photos of the room here. This should inform your decision on this place. The bathroom is TINY. No exaggeration, I am 5' tall and could touch both walls of this bathroom on either side of I held my arms up. The tiles were cracked, the bathroom floor and tub were dirty and the bathroom tiles were cracked and gross. Needless to say I am very thankful that I was only here for one night and just did not shower in that dirty little coffin bathroom. On top of the room being gross the building itself needs some serious work. Doors are rusted, paint peeling, the treads on the stairs are rusted and falling apart, railings are either dry rotted wood or rusted metal. I didn't want to touch anything for fear of cutting myself and needing a tetanus shot. At 250-300 a night this place is a complete ripoff. Stay away.

Older hotel, no elevator, A/C very loud, found someone else's leftovers in fridge, walls thin, the Wi-Fi didn't work… the good things were the closeness to the ocean, and the bed was comfy.

I stayed in the double bed suite called The Virginia Dare. It’s was very spacious for a family of four. Loved how clean, convenient, and comfy the whole stay was. Thanks for a great stay!

So I did not choose this location to stay, it was a business trip. I called ahead of time to see if I could check in and they said No. I arrived 15 mins before my check in time at 4 and they said my room wasn't ready, so they said they would call me. I went to sit down at buffet and 2 hours later no phone call. I called them to ask about my room and y they didnt call she says she tried but couldnt figure out the number as if it was saved on the account. Next when I entered the room it looked decent for a motel until I opened the bathroom. The toilet sat right next to the tub no space at all. The toilet paper dispencer sits behind the door and you wouldnt know unless you close it. The cable went out one night and they asked me if I could wait till next morning but the guy never came. I checked and it was working. A few days later he woke me up knocking on the door saying he was there to fix the cable. On the upside they come and clean your room and make up your bed everyday. The beach is right behind the parking lot and your close to every restaurant, and a movie theater. I say it was so so visit.

Older hotel but very well maintained. New fixtures in bathrooms, beds very comfortable. Nice pool with beach access on property. Just don't be fooled, there are no elevators. Some of rooms are on the 3rd floor. Breakfast is very limited, mostly the same items each morning, but quite satisfactory. Many restaurants just a short distance away.

It was an okay place. They offered breakfast and we didn't have any issues during our stay. The view from my room was great but the weather wasn't.

More like a motel than a hotel. Good if you are looking for something down scale and on the water. Would be great for college students or just anyone who wont be spending a ton of time in the rooms.

It was kind of dirty with German roaches and flies on the window seals. On the plus side they are right off the beach and the rooms were pretty spacious. They definitely need to revamp the decorations because it looks beach outdated. For such a great location you will think they would invest in their decor to make it pleasant.

The location is on the shore with beach access, but it's likely that you won't be able to actually see the beach from your room. The room was very clean, and staff was nice. Their free breakfast was really horrible. It all tasted stale or somehow off, even if it was still in date. The location of this hotel is also very close to all the shops and stores.

It's hard to tell from being here in the worst weather of the winter what exactly a summer stay would be like. The hotel itself is very clean. Our room was newly remodeled. There are three buildings: ocean front, ocean view and second row. We had a suite with an ocean view with a little kitchen. My only complaint was that the light to the street sign shine directly into the bedroom windows and the shades did not close completely. Staff was super friendly and accommodating to our group.

Great deal on the off season. Was the for an special occasion. Close to everything and our room was very close to the beach. 5 doors down.

My husband and I stayed at the Days Inn Mariner and liked it a lot. The room, bathroom, and sitting area were very clean, continental breakfast was actually good. Lori, the front desk clerk was absolutely awesome! We totally recommend it! Also, walking distance from Jolly Roger, what is very convenient.

My parents have the room for the week, I'm only here for the weekend. The room is magnificent — suite 228. Honestly it's bigger than necessary, it could easily fit 10. The view is great, location is great. The breakfast is tolerable, but what you'd expect from a hotel cotinental breakfast. I'm unsure about service since my parents dealt with that.

Misleading pictures, entirely too small rooms for the price, bathroom falling apart. Bathroom is literally right next to the bed… Lied on reservation status of rooms. Said only 2 available when we booked, but most of the hotel is empty… And for good reason… On top of that, the Wi-Fi is terrible and keeps cutting out… I cannot recommend this place to anyone… If it were half the cost I would of been fine, but we could of stayed someplace WAY better for what I paid.

Very welcoming to our group! Great place to step out of your room, 20 — 100 steps away from the water. Beautiful sunrise. Quiet. Clean, cute rooms. We had a suite with two queen beds, two tvs, couch, full size fridge, oven, stove, microwave, pots and pans, glasses, full size coffee machine (room 131). Highly recommended!

Check in was not good, after driving 11 hours and checking in at what we thought was the same room we stayed in last year, we we're informed rooms weren't guaranteed just the type of room. After voicing my displeasure because 5 months ago when booking it was no problem. The manager politely told me I could check out. Well I have him name and this isn't over. I will however look into different accommodations for our next vacation.

We were in a newly renovated suite with 2 queen beds in one room and separate room with sitting area and small kitchenette. The large vanity, outside tub/toilet room, was very nice however it was a very small walk space to get into the toilet/tub. Location was great with pool behind dune and walkway to top of dune to the beach. Good breakfast. Lots of families but workable.

The room is large and clean and hotel you have free breakfast.

It was old but clean. The room, plus Especially the bathroom, were very Very cramped. The Wi-Fi was almost non-existent. I had to use my laptop in the dining area of the building where the front desk is located. As a student, I had no choice. Did I mention how Small the room and bathroom were?! They need to update their pictures and let people know the room size.

Good stuff. Room clean. Fun was had.

I stay here every vacation. Simple breakfast, my daughter loves the pool, and I enjoy it being ocean front.

It opened in the early 90's and looks so, it's an older style hotel thats largely outdoors and at first glance may seem simply like a large motel. That said, the service was great, and the hotel, like many others in the area, has direct access to the beach. Like, I didn't even wear flip flops, I just walked in my bare feet the 10 yard distance to the sand. The building closest to the waterfront has suite style rooms that are essentiality two small rooms with a bathroom and hallway in between. The living room-style room has a small kitchen area and small couch that turns into a second bed, great for extra guests. There's one TV in each room. We paid just over two hundred a day for this place, and it costs about the same at many other hotels in the area for a one-room. Honestly a great deal. Its also within sight of two of the highest rated restaurants in the area, and it's close to several family attractions and the Outer Banks Brewing Station. I'd stay here again.

We come here ever June. Staff is unbelievable nice. Always a great time.

Very nice rooms. We are in an Ocean View Suite. We love it here and the Beach is wonderful.

Nice staff and room was clean. Hot water was great but shower didn't work. Too much light coming in from outside. Overall nice stay.
