Amazing! My friend and I stumbled upon here when searching for places to recoup from hiking along the AT at Grayson. Gayle, Julie, and the crew are warm, welcoming, and oh so wonderful! Rooms are cozy and inviting. Food is out of this world! Highly recommend and cannot wait to plan another visit back here!

This place is amazing. What a treat! The cabin we stayed in was spotless and the inn was beautiful. Everyone was very hospitable! The lady that owns this place is a gem! We will be back soon! Oh, and the food was delicious!

Amazing bar service, incredible dinner (trout & duck to die for), best bread pudding I've ever had, after dinner drinks on the porch in rocking chairs. What's not to love?!

I loved this place and Annie was in heaven with the free run by the river. No TV No phones I was perfectly fine with that! Gail was so sweet and great to talk to cant wait to come back Food was amazing as well did I say I loved it loved everything ❤

Had a perfect anniversary dinner. The food was most excellent. The staff were attentive and not stuffy at all. It was a splurge for us but well worth it! Already trying to think of another reason to go back!

First time there and it was a wonderful experience. Last minute trip, wanted a relaxing evening and that’s exactly what we got. Beautiful scenery and so secluded, peaceful and relaxing. Everyone is super nice and helpful. The cabin was amazing with wonderful views and very clean! breakfast was incredible! wish we would have known about this place sooner. We didn’t wanna leave…

I just got back home from the most wonderful weekend at River House. You will not find a more lovely, gracious place. The people that own and work there are absolutely the nicest people you will ever meet. The little houses and inn are the absolute best! I can't wait to go back!

Fabulous, welcoming and charming. My husband and I stayed in the Wee Cabin and had the best Christmas together. Secluded, romantic and dog friendly. We are definitely coming back!

We’ve been going to River House nearly every year since 1993. Beautiful, peaceful views of the New River. Multiple, unique rooms on the property. Friendly prompt service. Food is delightful. The delivery of coffee to each room every morning a special touch. Highest recommendation!

I was torn in writing this review because I wasn't sure I wanted to share the place, keep it under the radar so to speak. But alas, I decided to share. Just go, period the end. The property is very nice, chairs all over the property for just sitting in and chilling. The front porch overlooking the river is a great place for enjoying a tasty beverage and chilling out. And the food! Just make sure you have dinner there as well. The dining room is in the main house, quaint and charming. The food is fresh and local and the wine list is pretty good. The owner is such a lovely lady. She runs the place expertly and you must make time to say Hi to her during your stay.

This was my newest treasure find! Love this place! Beautiful setting on the river. Quaint, amazing food. Owner & staff helpful! Will return.

When the mountains call, this gracious 19th century manor house on the sparkling New River is the answer. Surrounded by vast countryside filled with natural beauty, River House Inn offers a perfect interlude of relaxation. The accommodations are simply elegant and cozy, and our stays there have been wonderfully rejuvenating. But perhaps River House Inn is best known for it's superb dining, which we can testify is deliciously world class. Friendly folks will greet you and make your experience, whether an evening's dinner or a longer stay, one of renewal and delight.

Stayed in the main house. Serenaded by the grand piano going to sleep and waking up, played by a very accomplished pianist (and published author). Lovely setting. Wonderful food. Owner and staff gracious and welcoming. Secluded on the New River. Only complaint in our room was very small shower.

River House is my happy place! Im like a kid in a candy store and happier than pigs in $%/+ when I eat there with friends. Elegant yet unpretentious…classy yet carefree…like its owner… the best!

We happened upon the River House Country Inn by chance, and we are so glad we did! We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. The hostess, Gayle, is certainly the heart of this place and her warm, welcoming manner is what makes a bed and breakfast an experience to remember. Our first night, Thursday, we enjoyed a perfectly made dinner by the chef and enjoyed the smaller, more intimate crowd, complete with some beautiful piano playing by another dinner guest who is a local author. Breakfast all three days was sublime. We particularly enjoyed the omelets, fresh squeezed orange juice, and grilled English muffins topped with delicious homemade strawberry jam. We also had dinner here on Friday night and it was wonderful as well. They leave coffee by your door in the mornings before you come down for breakfast which is a nice touch. We stayed in the Carriage House, which is spacious and comfortable. I enjoyed the large classic book selection in the room, and my husband enjoyed Gayle's large cookbook collection upstairs in the main house. The New River is peaceful and we enjoyed sitting by the river and listening to the little waterfall near the gazebo. We enjoyed a day of hiking from Grayson Highlands (30 minute drive) to Mt Rogers, the highest peak in Virginia (9 Mike hike round trip). We also were pleasantly surprised at how much there was to do in West Jefferson, from shops and art galleriesto a perfect lunch at Sweet and Savory.

Excellent staff/food/service. Beautiful mountains to hike in. Amazing river to kayak on. The rooms were one of a kind 1870's farm buildings with luxurious furnishing. Will be back often.

Located on a rise just across the road from the New River, this is truly a magical place. There are a number of unique rooms in the main house's outbuildings, several with oversized Jacuzzi tubs surrounded with oil candles. Instead of a check — in, we were greeted with a glass of wine. Although it wasn't one of the regular nights this establishment turns into a high end restaurant, the proprietor offered to "throw something together" for us. The result? The most delicious salmon we had ever had and desserts that were delectable. Dinner the second night was equally delicious. Coffee was left outside our door each morning, and breakfast was delightful. We so enjoyed our conversations with other guests and with our host — and the overall atmosphere fostered by the host — that we decided to stay a second night.

Nestled within a short drive to the regions most popular destinations (New River canoeing, biking on the Creeper Trail, and a lovely hike at Grayson Highlands), the RiverHouse exceeded everything we hoped it would be. Gayle and her staff were gracious and welcoming, which served to hasten our unwind. We savored deliciousness in casual elegance, and slept like babies. And on our final morning (a Monday following a Sunday Salon) we woke to wafting piano melody that drew us to the inn's front porch for coffee and a lovely view of a morning mist over the North Fork of the New River. Might say it's kinda hard to leave this place, but we'll be back.

Ms. Gayle is SO sweet. Coffee delivered to to your door at 7. Complimentary breakfast every morning from 7:30 to 10am. My 2nd visit, first time I stayed at the Grainary which is 7 miles from the Inn. This time stayed in room 7 and it was amazing! Jacuzzi! Plenty of room. Very comfortable bed. 5 star fine dining restaurant for dinner in the main building with fine dining! Right on New River, and absolutely beautiful secluded land. 15 minutes from the beautiful downtown west Jefferson! Definitely recommended for couples or like my first time, mother and daughter trip!
