Staff is always wonderful. We cannot say enough about the maintenance guy, Paul. Had trouble with our TV and he not only fixed it, but took the time to talk with us, and make us feel extremely welcome to the area and the hotel. These kind of folks keep us coming back time after time. It was our 4th stay here and we’ll be back!

Customer service was GREAT, but the rooms were dirty. Our first room was dirty with hair under the covers, brown sticky stuff on the phone, etc. We were given a new room (bigger) and it was okay. It had a musty smell and my 5 year old found a bottle of vitamins under the bed… which leads me to believe they don’t clean thoroughly. No maid service maybe due to Covid-19. Had to go ask for more towels. No breakfast except for prepackaged bags with a few things inside, again due to COVID-19. (Not a big deal, just saying. ) Probably won’t go back there.

Booked our reservation months ago and didn’t have a whole lot of service as we drove almost four hours to get here. Around 6:30 PM, my husband’s phone sent a notification that we had missed one call but they didn’t leave a voicemail. We called the number back to find that our room had been canceled over and hour before by the general manager, Caroline, because we hadn’t answered to confirm that we were still coming. Mind you, we couldn’t actually check in until 4PM. The lady at the front desk stated that this was a new policy, but apparently this policy went into effect two days ago. We let the lady at the front desk lady know that we were still on our way, but we were still about an hour away. She kindly found a double room (because our king had been given away) even though the hotel was now listing as sold out. I noticed when we picked up data service again that I had an alert for an attempted sale on my credit card, and I found out from the card company that the hotel had tried to process a sale on my card. When we got to the hotel, we got checked in, took our rooms keys upstairs and walked into someone else’s already occupied room. The young lady at the front desk had the room she saved for us as unoccupied and the person had in fact not checked out. Fortunately the young lady found a double booked room for us to stay in, because nothing within the surrounding area had any availability.

Attempted to stay at this place sat 26th, wife went to in to check if room available, wife came outside and stated yes, I parked car in rain, unloaded luggage in rain, went inside, then we were told no rooms available per clerk julianne. And we still charged $278 and still no refund to date… stay away!

Had two grand children doing the Polar Express in Bryson City? Hotel was buzzing with children. Rooms were clean employees friendly and helpful. A very good place to stay.

Great location near family. Staff is fantastic, the breakfast is awesome (real eggs/omelettes, sausage, Cinnabon), indoor pool, small but brand new fitness center. We'll definitely stay again!

Wonderful stay! I have no problem recommending this place for a few nights stay or weekend getaway. The staff is friendly, helpful and nice. The establishment is clean and well taken care of. Great swimming area and whirlpool. You will not be disappointed. Prices are reasonable and the amenities are just right. Joyful experience.

This place is a joke! Stayed here last weekend & the entire night our power was on and off. My daughter has some breathing issues & it was getting so hot in our room. Both the washer & dryer are not working. Then around 5am we lost complete power till around 8am. We had to check out by 11am so we had to leave early and find another hotel who had power so we could shower and actually see to move around. My husband complained and was only told there was nothing they could do about it, yet they didn't even try to make it right to all their guest. $146 for one night & the power was off over 1/2 that time. This place is a complete joke. If you can avoid it I would.

Clean rooms. Employees were very nice and helpful. Rooms are spacious and it was nice and cool when we arrived in our room. Breakfast food was good. My youngest forgot his blanket when we left. I called the hotel and the lady at the front desk was amazing at taking the situation serious and went and found the blanket right away. I can't thank her enough! Definitely recommend this hotel!

Loved this hotel, it was really nice and clean service was great and staff was very friendly!

Our stay was pretty cool. The beds were comfortable and it was clean. The staff was very pleasant. The only thing that disappointed me was the pancake machine being broken and I really wanted pancakes.

Good, exept the Wi-Fi wasnt very good, but the hot tub, pool, and laundry room were great for my vacation.

This hotel was very welcoming! We utilized reward points for our two night stay and thoroughly enjoyed the upgraded room. Staff were very accommodating and the room was very clean and tidy! Looking forward to staying here again!

First off, the staff was awesome. Also, the hotel was very clean. The one star review has to do with the saltine cracker thin and hard crackers they pass off as mattresses. We paid $140 for a room thinking the hotel would deliver on a good night’s sleep. We woke up tired and sore. We have noticed that Hampton Inn regularly has comfy mattresses. Holiday Inn Express on the other hand needs to quit charging such high rates for inferior quality mattresses.

Staff was extremely nice. Bed hard as a rock. Television remote had buttons that didn't work, so getting to a specific channel was challenging.

Front desk is absolutely awesome. Very helpful with directions and suggestions. Showerhead was great! Bathroom had a little deterioration. All in all a great stay. We were here 3 days for grandson's baseball game against Western CU.

Much nicer than we had anticipated. Clean up to date room with mini fridge, microwave, kurig, and very comfy bed. The bathroom was nice and spacious with great water pressure and primo shampo/conditioner that is actually usable. The breakfast was great with amazing coffee and not just a carb bar. Staff was friendly and helpful. 17 minutes away from the casino and a great price. We will definitely be back.

My wife and I love Holiday Inn Express. We did have some complications during our stay here. We could not connect to the Wi-Fi with any of our devices. We ended up having to change rooms to another location the 2nd day of our stay. The hot tub is acting up so did not get the full enjoyment that we normally get. The staff was friendly though. I would give them another chance and hopefully they would have things squared away. Update: I originally posted this review prior to checking out. The manager did give us a credit for a portion of our stay. They stepped up to the plate and made things right. I am upping my rating to 4 stars from 3.

The room was very clean. The bed was comfortable. I like that they have 2 firm and 2 soft pillows on each bed. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast was great.

Was in town to take my daughter to the Polar Express train ride & I couldn't have been more pleased with my stay! The assistant general manager that checked us in was AWESOME. Our room was cozy, spacious, and very clean! Every staff member we passed as we were checking out greeted us with a smile, overall great stay.

Great place to stay. Stayed for 3 nights while visiting relatives during Thanksgiving. Nice clean rooms, didn't use the pool but it looked nice and clean.

Very friendly people work there. Clean room, good breakfast, quiet and relaxing stay. Tiffany at the front desk made us feel welcomed. We will stay there next time we go that direction.

Clean, comfortable, and well maintained room with good amenities. Exercise room was limited but ok. Hot breakfast was disappointing (very dry) but the cinnamon rolls made up for it. Courteous staff.

Great place to stay. Rooms are spacious, clean and well furnished. Staffers very courteous and helpful. Best complimentary continental breakfast I've had in a hotel. Becky and Tiffany in the cafeteria were attentive and provided great customer service.

I was surprised and disappointed in this hotel. Our room was smelly. The carpet was wet. Not sure if the ac worked properly because the room felt so damp. Woke up the next morning congested and dizzy. Small pool but clean. Breakfast was ok. Staff was pleasant. Will definitely look elsewhere before booking this hotel again.

I was very impressed with this hotel. The rooms were spacious and clean. (Bath and body works soaps and lotions. ) The indoor pool and hot tub were nice. It was the perfect way to get my kids energy out after a long car trip. The breakfast was a nice spread and the touches like better yogurt choices than the average hotel, were a plus. My only complaint was the handibar in the shower. It was in an award position that made it usuable.

We stayed on the third floor for 1 night and had a very pleasant experience. The free breakfast in the morning was great!

Great convenient location to Sylva and centralized to Bryson City, Franklin and Waynesville. The staff was very friendly and the hotel lobby/rooms clean and spacious. The manager Aaron was exceptionally helpful in directing us to places in the area for food and drink and also making sure our stay there was good. Definitely recommended!

We stayed over for an event at Western Carolina University. The room was clean and quiet. The pool and exercise facilities were clean and nice. The front desk staff was super nice.

Front desk ladies were awesome and our room had a nice view! Breakfast lady was very snitty the 2nd morning of our stay and loudly dressed down my husband for letting her know that they were low on eggs & biscuits.
We had a leak in our bathroom sink that was promptly fixed after reporting it, and our shower curtain had mold & mildew on the bottom of it — — definitely time to change it out. Comfortable beds, nice size room. This was our 2nd stay at this hotel. Would definitely stay again.

Price gouging/unreasonable rate. Have to say that I did not stay here. Had to check out of a hotel down the road due to a late night discovery of bed bugs. Called this HI Express at 11:30pm to see if they had a vacancy and explained our situation. Despite 'priority club' membership, they offered us a rate of $150 plus tax. Unless this hotel offers complementary gold coins and breakfast in bed, it certainly is not worth it.

Check in was fine, accommodations were a bit small for the price. Upon arrival the air conditioning was running fast and the room felt like you could hang fresh meat. Switched the system over to heat and the aroma coming out of the heater was just like cigarette smoke. Tried to open the window to get the smell out but it hung in there all night long. Breakfast was excellent, hot food was nice to have. After checkout the hotel charged the room with a smoking charge saying there was cigarette ashes found, impossible unless they smoked when they cleaned it. Will never stay at another Holiday Inn Express because of this overcharge. What a crooked way to make money.

The room was not clean. Pubic hair all in shower. The curtain has puke on lower left side. Ac filter needs to be cleaned or changed. Air smelled like a old basement. Had do not disturb sign on door and still had housekeeping banging on door. Then someone started banging on pipes and chiseling the concrete. It went on for 3 hours. Nice people, just need training and management followup on rooms.

I had to move to another hotel because they don't have enough wheelchair accessible rooms but everything else was good. Excellent staff and they do have a pool lift, its covered and no one there to operate it though.

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff was great, taught us what "halfbacks" meant LOL, really enjoyable folks. We had stayed in a couple of different hotels in NC that week (July 2010) while on vacation, this one was the best, cleanest, best breakfast. The lady on staff in the morning in the breakfast room. Penny? Peggy? I can't recall, was so sweet and told us about some local places we should check out. Our room was great, very clean, HUGE tub. I would have loved to have stayed longer. And become a halfback too.
