I found this gem through references and I've stayed at the Park Savoy Hotel over a dozen times! Clean, tidy rooms and excellent customer service make Park Savoy THE BEST HOTEL to stay at in NYC without draining your wallet! Located steps away from Central Park and Columbus Circle, it is close to all train lines, restaurants, and a huge CVS in case you need to pick up any items; a quick walk will land you in the center of Times Square. They offer a holding room for your luggage in case you want to check in quickly and hit the town before you settle in, or if you get there early before your reservation. If you'd like a room with more space, ask for a room in the upper floors facing the street, as the rooms in back tend to be smaller. Call well in advance to ensure you get booked; they do fill up. Don't let expensive hotels dampen your NYC experience, go to the Park Savoy and enjoy your trip in a safe neighborhood central to everything fun the City has to offer!

Affordable price, friendly staff and clean rooms, a little bit noisy in the morning but overall a nice place. Most importantly no bed bugs.

This place is dated and not maintained properly. You can find better places at same price. For starters all the rooms are tiny, beds are hard as a rock. And in many rooms the old heater does not work at all and if it does it's not very warm. There is a cold draft from outside because of the window AC unit also it is very noisy from the thin walls. The refrigerators in the rooms do not work, the TV channels barely come in at all, and the toilet does not flush. The maintenance issues never end! I have stayed in many hotels in New York City and have never dealt with so many problems. The people there are rude and not willing to help.

Rats in the room! Rats in the bedroom! Horrible Hotel with rats under the bed, do not go, even if it is economical, it is preferable to stay elsewhere. Horrible HoteL >!

Clean, relaxing room. Not a top shelf accomadation, but offers everything you need for a budget friendly evening in the city. Close walk to fine dining, drinks, shopping, nightlife and Central Park.

It was a budget find. And it worked perfectly for what I needed. Spent the night there for my birthday with my husband and a few friends. Perfect. Walking distance to Central Park and other tourist sites. Will stay again.

Over priced. Tiny rooms. No king beds. Staff were cool. Luggage room service was excellent. Location is the best feature of this place. You can actually walk to Central park, Times Square and many more attractions.

The location and price are the best things about this hotel. The concierge was very helpful and made out stay much better, also. The hotel is dated, but I appreciated it's uniqueness and history. You can get a better looking room with the same amenities in the same location for hundreds of dollars more a night. The subway stations are very close and the park is right around the corner. Going to lower Manhattan takes less than 30 minutes. The room was also larger than expected. Having stayed in more fancy hotels in the city, this room was the largest of any of the others. And it was cheaper. The concierge also changed our assigned room so that we wouldn't be disturbed by the street noise, although I don't think it was very loud at all. The maids are also very sweet and took good care of us. The hotel also offers free coffee and breakfast in the morning (from the pizza place next door (which has delicious pizza) ). If you are looking for a hotel with a great location that you will be comfortable at, I suggest this one.

Found a last minute room in midtown and it was the perfect size (smaller than the avg room, that's probably a turn off for most people but I don't mind it given I'm never in my room anyway) and they didn't try to gouge the life out of the price given it was a busy weekend. Would DEFINITELY stay here again.

Location is great. About a block from Central Park and the theater/comedy club area. It's a great stay for the price if you're okay with a no frills, no special perks kind of hotel. The room and bedding appeared clean enough as well as the restroom. The room featured a window unit AC that you can actually adjust. View was the side of another building. Hotel front desk staff aren't particularly friendly or helpful. We asked if there was any ice available and they suggested we try asking the bar next door. We received better hospitality from the corner deli. If you're looking for a bargain hotel in manhattan that's in a good location, it's not a bad choice, just don't expect any above and beyond service.

This place is comfy and affordable. The 2min walk to central park is awesome! Who cares if the place is kind of old and kind of small. :-)

My stay was satisfactory, but it was certainly no-frills. Our TV didn't have many channels, there was only one washcloth, but the bed was reasonably comfortable. The lift also was extremely old and small and took forever to arrive.

The staff is cool, friendly, and the hotel is in a good location, but the hotel itself is extremely run down and the rooms lack any amenities whatsoever. Been to a Motel 6 before? Motel 6 is a 5 star hotel compared to the Park Savoy. My room featured a burnt out light bulb, a refrigerator that was broken and the world's hardest mattress. On a positive note, this place is cheaper than any of the surrounding hotels, in a great location and no one has been murdered there that I am aware of.

Spend the extra $40 on a nicer hotel. The heat doesn't work. It's 56 degrees in our room. There's a draft. The room smells like urine. The room is so small it barely fits a bed. Bed smells like urine. Sheets are stained. All we were given was a fitted sheet and two flat pillows. No hot water. The water doesn't even get Luke warm. Spiders and roaches everywhere and the oh so wonderful bed bugs!

OMG! Are you all talking about the same hotel? My husband and I stayed there many years ago for long weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I made the reservations online, looked like a decent enough hotel for the price $89 per night. We came in from Connecticut on the train, looking forward to freshening up and going out to dinner. What a disaster this place was. The first room they put us in was disgusting and I am being kind… nothing worked, it smelled of urine. Called the desk and immediately requested a different room. They were obliging alright, this second room was worse than the first! There was a hole in the middle of the mattress, and the bathroom was so small my husband could barely sit on toilet as his shoulders were touching the wall on both sides. My husband went across the street to the Essex House and the only room available was $450 for the night. We decided to try and make the best of it as it would be our one and only night there. It was a good thing we had the chain on the door as someone else checking in was given a key to our room, and of course tried to get in. Fiasco trying to get that straightened out. I thought for sure this hotel would have gone out of business by now or shut down by the NYC department of health. Please if you are thinking of booking this hotel, DONT DO IT. I have read some of the reviews and it appears nothing has changed in 10 years.

Why anyone would look at the pictures on this hotel's website and CHOOSE to stay here over other hotels is beyond me. My father booked this hotel for me accidentally, thinking he was booking a room for the Park Lane hotel down the street. The staff is relatively nice, but that's about the only upside to this hotel. Right when you walk in, everything is tiny (which is to be expected from a non-chain NYC hotel, but I've stayed in other hotels that were much bigger in the city. ) The elevator has a door on it, like door-knob and everything. On top of that, the max number of people that can be in the elevator is 4, but it was a tight squeeze just with three people and two suitcases. My room was a double, but the beds were twin sized. Never in my life have I stayed at a hotel that had twin-sized beds. The room was TINY. I couldn't open the door to the closet without it hitting my bed. The bathroom looked like it wasn't renovated since the 70s. The comforters looked like they were from the 70s also. The dresser, nightstand, and desk looked like they would be in a college dorm, not a nice hotel. The TV was okay, but it only had 20 channels. Lighting was good. There was a mini fridge, which was nice. Really good location. This place could be a real money maker with just a bit of TLC. Change the carpet, re-paint the walls, re-tile the bathroom, buy new dressers, nightstands, comforters, etc. Then charge an extra $100, and it could bring in a huge crowd.

The hotel is what you would expect at this price and location. There are definitely nicer hotels in Manhattan for the same price but not at this location. The rooms are a but outdated but clean. There are no amenities or parking. There is public parking nearby.

I give this place a 0 because no plugs, broken a/c, t. V did not work, noise all night I mean all night long. I am sure I heard gun shots. Breakfast is at the pizza place next door which we didnt go to. The service was very BAD. This place is NOT the place to stay. Also I think that I have got bitten by BUGS.

I booked this hotel last minute as I wasn't expecting to be staying overnight in the city. The price seemed right and the location was convenient; what a mistake. In my 41 years, this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in and these are the reasons why. The room was tiny (which I guess is sometimes normal for NYC but I will move on). The room was dirty and the furniture was dated. The bed felt like it was going to fall apart. If I wasn't so tired, I was tempted to just sleep in my car in fear of getting bed buds or something else. The "hotel" didn't even have a remote control to the TV so if you wanted one you had to check it out at the front desk; which I did and when I tried to use it, it didn't work. There were no amenities in the room — no garbage pail, no paper and pen, no guide to NYC… nothing. There were no controls to the air conditioning or heat. In the tiny bathroom, the window was broken and it was cold. I went to take a shower and there was no hot water at all. I let it run for bit but nothing. To top it off, the "friendly" front desk clerk bragged about a complimentary breakfast at the pizza shop next door in the morning but when I went there it was closed. I told this to the front desk clerk and he said "what you want me to do; take it up with the manager later today". To close, I grew up in NY and know how hotels are there; this hotel was a total disgrace.

The Park Savoy Hotel was perfectly located near Central Park and a short walk to Times Square. We booked this hotel for a quick one day tourist trip, we didnt plan to spend much time in the room beyond sleepy. You can't beat the price of the rooms. You wont find any location nearby within 20% of the prices they have. That being said, you also get what you pay for. The elevator is from another time. It is generally quicker to hike up the stairs. The rooms are quite small. The rooms, while clean, could stand to be renovated. Our bathroom had a bit of a sewage smell when we first arrived but I was never able to pin down the source. The bed was comfortable however the pillows left something to be desired. Our room was equipped with a room appropriate sized flat screen TV but with very fuzzy reception. The free breakfast offered in reality is a voucher to the shop next door. They have a quite limited selection on bagels and drinks. Space was also quite limited there. If you are trying to hit NYC on a budget, I highly recommend the Park Savoy. If you want more creature comforts, I'd advise on spending a little more somewhere else.

Price was great, small but for the price worth it. The hot and cold water were way off so it was hard to take a comfortable shower. Overall I would stay again but if you are needing a large space this is not the place for you.

The hotel was horrible. Phone did not work, bathroom door did not close. Decided not to stay and checked out the same day, but they still charged me for full stay. I am still waiting for a refund. Do not stay here.

The price was okay, but when we got there, the room was tiny, the Wi-Fi wasn't free, they don't claim responsibility for your items, and there was a beer bottle cap on the floor of my room. When I ran the water it made weird noises. Worse than all of these, the guy at the front desk was really rude. I have never received this much sass from someone who's supposed to be working a customer service job. Trust me, you can find similarly priced hotels nearby. That's what I did, after my horrible greeting.

Old. Clean. Extremely small. But why stay in your hotel room? Walk to Central Park, Times Square or a Broadway show. This is the only affordable way to stay in NYC for 5 nights or so. Spend your $ on shows and food instead.

Good location at reasonable price and for a comfortable stay. Basic and great breakfast with a coffee to bad, but included in the price. We would return.

Hotel very well located, economical and that if basic, what one needs in this city, also basic breakfast, but enough to start, close of central Park, Times Square, 5th Av, Apple Store, Columbus Ave. Among other places.

I look at the reviews of this hotel where people say that it's great, and I wonder have these people who are giving good reviews to this hotel been living in war-torn parts of Africa/Middle East? Because there is no other explanation for why anyone would find the standards of this hotel acceptable. I paid $150 for one night and I got a room in which I couldn't even stretch both of my arms without one or both of them hitting the wall. I asked for a hair-dryer, something that is common in most hotel rooms, and they asked me to give them my ID and said that they would keep my ID until I returned the hair-dryer. All this for a measly hair-dryer? I wonder what they would ask me for if I requested for bottled water. One of my limbs maybe? I asked them if they could print something out for me and they refused. I understand that the location is Upper East Side, but that is no excuse for charging someone $150 a night and then giving them the kind of service you would expect in Guantanamo Bay. I wouldn't stay here again even if you paid me to do it. I would rather sleep on the floor of an NYC subway station.

A $400 nightmare. I have regularly used parking garages throughout Manhattan several times per month for several years now, and this was the first time I had valuables STOLEN while it was in a garage's possession. I had close to $300 stolen from a compartment within my vehicle, not in plain sight, on top of being charged $90 for overnight parking, a rate far above comparable garages not only in the area, but throughout Manhattan. Admittedly, no one should have cash or valuables in their car, but that does not justify this theft nor does it change the fact that my vehicle was searched and valuables stolen by an employee or employees of this company. This is my first time ever writing an online review because I have never been so infuriated as a customer. Park elsewhere. There are MANY other options within a one block radius.

For location alone, "you can't beat the price with a stick! " This is not a, "Waldorf Astoria" experience, but if you are adventurous or want to feel as if you live in the city, this place works. Historic sites all around, Central Park, transportation about a block away, shops, restaurants, everything and anything you want within walking distance, "what's there not to love about it? " Saving a few bucks, and having someone on duty at the desk makes me feel safer and smart. Now to see and experience New York City, "the most exciting city on earth! " May I suggest a super splurge at the "Bull and Bear Steakhouse" for dinner, or the "Russian Tea Room" for lunch.

Just what we were looking for : sleep, take a shower and walk out to visit New York City. Don't expect better location for the price. Rooms are tiny but clean. We spent 6 nights at Park Savoy and didn't feel squeezed — probably different for a longer stay. Street public works will give your sleep the tempo as it starts at 6:45 am — not an issue for us with the jet lag (France). Many won't appreciate the breakfast but it's finally the odd moment of the day — Don't wast your time asking a bagle to Rosita. Just point the finger to your choice :-) It's a nice stay and a great location for visiting NYC. We'll go back for sure.

Sure the rooms are small, but you just can't beat the price/location of this hotel. We also got a coupon for a free drink at the bar next door which was pretty nice. Will definitely come back.
