This place was / has been the worst. Zero stars. We experienced nothing but trouble with the A/C in the rooms; in our three-night stay, we switched rooms five times! That meant we could never unpack and have peace and quiet for more than an hour or two. Some of the hotel staff tried to help us but they were seemingly powerless. We got promises that the hotel manager would contact us, but instead, he avoided contact, giving us messages via the front desk personnel — who should NOT have had to take the heat for our lousy stay. Front desk and concierge services did all they could. Management and maintenance most certainly did NOT. Their communication was poor, their ability to fix things (maintenance) was. Gee, I think I'll come stare at the thermostat for this malfunctioning A/C, then tell the customer that I'll be back, then not come back and instead have the front desk take all the heat. Most rooms do not have any sort of outside-facing window; they mostly face into the hallway, which is then facing into a central open-air area which looks ready for parties, etc, but in fact is little-used. The hotel is decorated to be NYC boutique-style, and I guess it makes its mark there. But I'd really rather have a functional room. Well, I guess at least the TVs worked in all the rooms we stayed in. And the cleaning staff did their jobs and stayed out of the way. So add a star for that. .
