1/5 — The Lake House is beautiful, however, my experience was anything but. To begin, I arrived later on my arrival date to find out that they put me in a different room than the one I booked. Still had a great view, but not to room I reserved. I used the toilet in my room to relieve myself after a long drive, it overflowed. Called the front desk, no answer, called every number on the phone, no answer. Made it to the bed, there was hair and blood on the comforter as well as the pillow. Moving on, there were flies coming out of my sink drain and were all over my ceilings. I'd been there 30 minutes. Toilet didn't get fixed until the following morning after another overflow and asking the kind door woman to send someone up. As I tried to sleep, I kept hearing a weird noise, figured it was a neighboring room, not the case. It was the corn hole boards being used at midnight. Two nights in a row of that, after myself and a neighboring room complained to the front desk. They told us there was no manager on duty and that they'd "see what they can do". Ended up being addressed when the neighboring room asked the people to stop playing. You'd think for $600+ per night, they would have it together. The entire experience was a huge disappointment and I ended up ending my stay a day early because no one seemed to care about all of the problems. I will say, the valet team consisting of Omar, Tristan, and Emilio were top notch. They are the only reason for the mandatory 1-star.

Went to the Lake House for Drag Me to Brunch. The food was great, the entertainment excellent, the service and staff were phenomenal. Great atmosphere and location. I highly recommend the Lake House.

What an amazing place! They have thought of every detail. The facilities, service and food are exceptional. It’s not a hotel — it’s a resort, with large grounds and so many free activities available. I’ll definitely be back.

This place is PHENOMENAL! Amazing food and service. Super friendly staff. Feels more like staying at someone’s house than a hotel. Property is well kept and clean. So many thoughtful details. Umbrella, robes and wine bottle opener in the rooms. Towels and toiletries well stocked. Water bottle fillers in the hallway. Two shuffleboard tables. Corn hole. So many fire pits and ADK chairs and loungers. Bikes. I could go on forever. Great for special occasions, romantic getaways, girls trips…everything. Definitely going back!

I could not have been happier with this place. From the decor, the ambiance, the staff, the delicious food and drinks, the amazing lake and views and the wonderful staff. My husband and I have been working incredibly hard and just finished multiple big projects and wanted to take time to reset. We are so thrilled we discovered the Lake House and Willowbrook Spa. We chose a few services at their Spa and were blown away with the services, the providers and the ambiance. We spent so much time in their sun room and didn't want to leave because it was so calming, and beautiful. If you are so fortunate to be here please try a facial with Norma, she has a great technique and knows her stuff about skincare. Lyndsy has the perfect pressure for a massage to completely relax you but also to make your body feel renewed and Victoria was great and welcoming at the desk. On top of all these wonderful experiences they have the cutest Spa Dog, Hela Olive which makes everything perfect. I highly recommend the Lakehouse and I am counting the days until I can return.

What a disappointing stay. While the hotel is new and the design is polished and clean, the guest service and details were definitely not in line with the price point. The “bottles” of water in the room were just glass bottles filled with tap water, the bathroom only had two towels and the bed frame felt like it was going to fall apart when you sat down on the bed. Our “woods view” was just as disappointing as we were greeted with trucks doing donuts in the snow. I’m sure during the summer the view is not as open with the leaves but it still backed up to the public boat launch. Guest services left SO much to be desired. We tried unsuccessfully to have someone call us back to book massages prior to checking in and the front desk was less than helpful when we inquired about dinner options. The Rose Tavern’s menu provided a decent selection however we had to sit at the bar rather than the dining room as they didn’t have availability (even though there were tables open. ) My boyfriends steak came out overcooked and cold. We were so excited to stay at this hotel and support a local business but I would highly recommend you stay elsewhere. You could find a gorgeous Airbnb for the price we paid. We will absolutely not be returning or recommending this hotel to any of our local and out of town friends and family.

My husband and I recently had our wedding at the Lake House. I cannot sing enough praises about this incredible place. They were clearly under staffed — however did not miss a beat. Every single employee was absolutely wonderful and attentive to our every need. Every guest came up to us in awe of such a beautiful venue — and how wonderful their time at the Lake House was. Needless to say, we will be returning as often as we can to re-capture the magic that was our wedding day.

My parents booked a room six months in advance only to find out two weeks before arrival they wouldn’t have the room they booked. They booked a lake view room and were then told they would have a parking lot view. She can’t do much due to recent hip replacement surgery so staring out at a parking lot for 4 days isn’t what they had in mind for the 4th of July. Not very good customer service.

This place was as advertised… great staff, incredible ambiance and a little something for everyone. Highly recommend making the trip.

Highly recommend The Lake House. Everything was perfect! The staff was friendly and accommodating. The entire property was gorgeous. The food and cocktails in the restaurants were excellent. We loved the complimentary beach cruisers. We had the best time for a girls weekend getaway.

The new Lake house is gorgeous, and well worth the trip. I cant wait to go back. I Highly recommend it for a stay in the Canandagiua Area, you won't regret it. It has everything you need and as always so does Canandagiua.

Different price points and options that our whole party enjoyed and we all had a wonderful experience today. Given the 4th of July week, COVID-19 & NYS regulations your team was great. To keep nostalgia, we were there opening night 24 years after opening night of the original Sands property.
not bad for opening night food was good and reasonable overall.
Good to see so many locals supporting the new venue.

Awful menu, small portions and we are still trying to get awful after taste out of our mouths. 8 dollar seltzer. Gorgeous place but never going back.

I called the desk for reservation and was told I would have a wheelchair accessible room with a roll in shower. When we arrived we were told that room was not available and was shown a room with a bathtub. The room smelled terrible, mold, body Oder and filthy. Even the furniture in the lobby had layers of old dust. We canceled the reservation and had to find another room elsewhere. Please beware if you are thinking about booking here.

Loved our mini getaway, enjoyed the jacuzzi suite and gorgeous view of the lake. Very accommodating and pleasant staff.

Love the food. My wife and I go especially for the seafood chowder. The best we've ever tasted.

This is a nice resort hotel on Canandaigua Lake. The setting is fantastic, but the rooms are a little dated. However come mid October the place is shutting down for a massive renovation. (The elevations on display in the lobby look great). I'm eagerly looking forward to the new place because the service is always first rate. If you get a chance to stay here before it closes, then it's well worth doing. If you don't, make sure you're at the front of the line for a room when it reopens.

I hadn’t been there for several years. The beds were very comfortable however, it was was quite stuffy and warm in the room. The air conditioning wasn’t that great. We had a down pour when I was outside. I stepped onto the tile in the outdoor dining area and slipped. Very slippery. When I told someone at the desk they just said “oh sorry “. Never asked how I was. I mentioned it again at checkout and the guy said “yeah it’s slippery”. Again didn’t ask if I was ok or hurt myself. That was somewhat baffling.

Jacuzzi suite was incredible, the view, the service all perfect. It's one of my favorite places to stay on trip anywhere. Upset that it will be gone for a few years. Bartenders we're awesome. Can I give it six stars!

Limited menu Beet salad with salmon was delicious. Cheese tray could have been plated in a less disorganized display. Service was attentive and pleasant. Outdoor seating was nice but I'm looking forward to the more formal indoor dining experience next time.

We went to eat at The Shore on July 4th but were told we couldn't do so without a reservation. It would have made sense if they were busy, but they never exceeded 1/3 capacity in the dining room. They missed out on thousands of dollars from all the patrons that they redirected to the Sand Bar, which is their more casual, outdoor seating only bar/restaurant. There was a substantial wait for both a table and food. There was no formal seating by a hostess so you had to race to grab a table when other groups were leaving. Our server was pretty indifferent to us, but there were no mistakes in our order so I can't complain. The food was mediocre bar food. Not bad, but nothing to seek out again. We got a margarita pitcher but it was mostly ice and only ending up containing 3 drinks. This place is the definition of mediocre. I would not make as special trip to visit it again, but would eat there if my companions insisted on it.

They took extremely good care of my fiance and me. The whole place is closing in October for 18 months. Leveling all the buildings and are rebuilding everything. If you have a gift card use it now. Thanks William for the great customer service.

This is a decent hotel with good restaurants and a fantastic view of the lake. They have lake side chairs where people sit and look at the water and chat. This is a great location to research if you are planning a fancy wedding. Great views. Also, if you have a boat on the lake, they have boat "parking. "

I only stayed here for a weekend but I loved it here. Their staff were very polite, helpful and warm. The rooms are alot nicer than expected and I enjoyed my stay here. Their prices are reasonable but not cheap, but if your willing to spend a comfortable amount of money then this is the place for you. Unfortunately I was not able to enjoy the lake or boating activities here because it rained my whole weekend here. Definitely a place I would love to return to.

This place is completely unprofessional. I had a friend start working for them as a house keeper, and come to find out they hire little theiving 14 year old girls as bed makers, so suggestion lock all your stuff up. So far it’s only been the tips for the housekeepers stolen from my understanding, but they called my friend a pain and a bunch of nasty names because she started not wanting the bed makers in her room. She’s done plenty of housekeeping jobs before. She knows how to make a bed. So when she said that it shouldn’t have been a problem. Completely unprofessional, and I know I won’t be blowing my money at this dump.

This review is of the restaurant only. It is wheelchair accessible, with handicap parking, and a wheelchair accessible main entrance. There is a lift for the few feet up to the level of the restaurant, and a ramp going to the patio for outside eating. The men's room (multi-user, separate) is wheelchair accessible, on the same level as the restaurant. The view of the lake is wonderful. The tables on the outside patio are under an awning and shielded from direct sunlight.

It is a beautiful place to stay with excellent views and customer service. The Sand Bar is a great place to get a bite or a drink on a nice afternoon. (But the bar is far too crowded on Saturday nights. ) Over all it's a great place.

Went for lunch. Ate outside on a beautiful spring day. The food was great. I had a turkey club. Took a walk down to the water. Great time. Get there before October, it's being renovated and will be closed for 18 months.

Great hotel located on the shores of the lake. Some rooms have balcony overlooking lake. Rooms 1 xx are on the ground floor so if you are lucky (or asked previously) from the window door you access directly to the shores of the lake. Great free hotel parking.

I liked the lounge bar, to have a good glass of wine and look at the lake through its large windows. Parking is ample. In the summer you can sit outside in the garden facing the lake.

The Inn on the Lake is first rate. The location is perfect in nice weather. Our daughter's rehearsal dinner was there and they did a wonderful job. The indoor pool and hot tub are a great way to relax!

Ate at the restaurant. Had to wait for more than an hour for our food to arrive. Nobody told us what was wrong. Nobody apologized for the delay. My friend told the server she didn't want the iced tea because it was unsweetened but she brought a glass of tea and a packet of sugar anyhow!

It is okay. We had the standard room, which still has double beds when it should have queens. It was all they had available, because nobody really wants a double bed. And the room smelled musty! The restaurant tries to be fancy, but came up short this time. Last time we went for our anniversary it was very good. When the waitress and host both didn't realize that my pork 2 ways only came with one, I had to ask after I had finished the dish, where was the second way. Neither dish was very hot in temp. I am sure we will go again, because it is reasonably priced and it is nice to walk to the room after a long day of beer and wine tasting.

We hosted the National Hay Association annual convention at the Inn on the Lake the last week in September. We had over 165 people from all over the country, Canada and even Italy. It was amazing! We have been to many top rated hotels for these conventions, but none have surpassed the service and the attention to detail that we received at the Inn. The dinner at our banquet was beautifully presented and wonderful! The hospitality of the staff was mentioned numerous times!
Lori Proper worked with us for over two years preparing for this weeklong event. She exceeded all of our expectations! We left with many lovely and happy memories!

Fantastic location with a beautiful view of the lake. The lobster bisque was amazing, and the New York wines are very tasty. Highly recommended restaurant. Also very fast and friendly service.

Great suite room that had a king bed and a separate room with sofa, TV and small sink. The 4 stars is because the bathroom was way too small especially for 2 people trying to get ready at once. Also needs a fan in the shower, it gets really steamy in there.

We were at a wedding. The venue itself was great. Great space great bar great food. The room… Not so much. We were in the handicap room. The wall paper is dated. We had our ac set at 45 and it felt like 80 in there. We found a used tissue behind our bed. I wouldn't pay half the price to go back again to stay. But the wedding itself was wonderful. Would suggest it for an event venue.

The Inn on the lake is a nice quiet hotel situated right on Canandaigua lake. As I was down there working an event as a ballet dancer I am on my able to speak to their accommodations on that front which were exceptional. Very friendly and expedient. Everything was kept very clean, and easily accessible. I very much enjoyed my time at The Inn on the lake!

I was here on a business trip but the hotel would be a perfect vacation spot as well. It's right on the lake and is within walking distance to unmotorized craft rentals, a nice park and restaurants. The rooms are slightly dated but nice nonetheless.

Lovely service, food and view! We were dining on the Shore patio, and when the rain came, we just moved a few feet to stay dry. Would have given 5 stars if only the staff (who was not busy at all when we arrived at 5pm) had helped us with our family member in a wheelchair. We had to navigate the small lift in the lobby without help.

Stayed here for a work conference. Very nice hotel. The rooms are pretty basic but the conference center is beautiful. The food provided was also very good. Staff were friendly and helpful. Very nice views of the lake, as the hotel is right along the shore. Definitely a good experience.

The location was close to the lake. We could walk out the back door and sit at the waters edge. We watched the sun set. Staff was helpful and friendly! The rooms were clean and nicely decorated. There was a path from the hotel through the par and along the lake for strolling. We were in walking distance of many restaurants and stores. A fun place to stay!

The waitress was very nice and attentive; however, we had 6:30 dinner reservations and they were already out of food items at that time on a Saturday night. Half of our party ordered the steak special, but just before our dinners were delivered our waitress informed us that they had run out of the vegetable sides that accompanied the steak. So, she offered us another choice of vegetable. Our dinners came, but no vegetables, so we let the waitress know. She apologized and went to see what had happened. We finished our dinner and the plates and silverware were cleared. After another five minutes or so, the vegetables arrived, but not one that we had ordered. Overall, the meal was tasty, but they shouldn't run out of the sides of the special that early in the evening. It didn't appear to be overly busy as there were many empty tables. The waitress did comp our dessert, but it would have been nice to have a vegetable side with our nice steak dinner.

I went to the Sand Bar on a Tuesday night, and the atmosphere was nice. There were about 20-30 people there, so it was good for mingling, but also good for small conversation. The breeze off the lake was soothing on the hot night. Overall the experience was delightful.

We stayed at The Inn on the for my boyfriend's brother's wedding. We had a lake front view room and it was very nice. A little expensive and outdated rooms but you can't really complain because of the beautiful view and your patio. I highly suggest if you're going to stay here you get a lake view room. Everything was very clean and the staff was very nice. Amazing food as well!

This was a wonderful place to stay in Canandaigua, NY! This Inn takes you back to simpler times, when there was a casual, friendly elegance to your stay. Let me give you an example… my husband and I have stayed in chain hotels. Very nice, BUT have no problem putting on sweatpants (aka jammie) pants to go get breakfast. Staying at the Inn On The Lake makes you want to shower and get ready for breakfast and your day! Remember, this is a good thing! The property is beautiful and the lake is calming! The staff was wonderful! When you go to their bar at "happy hour", you will feel welcomed and right at home! You will meet so many wonderful people from other states and best of all those who live in Canandaigua! I am returning to the Inn On The Lake the end of May! I can't wait!

We just had our wedding this weekend next door and the Inn went above and beyond to make sure us and our entire party was taken care of. Lori and Brandi just rocked it! The beds were comfy, the lake view rooms were gorgeous! I hope we can go back every summer to celebrate the fun we just had!

Hotel was okay. Great view and convenient location. Hotel was a little outdated and lacking some amenities. $6 for continental breakfast which consisted of a tiny pastry and coffee. Also the "free Wi-Fi" did not reach to our room so we could not take advantage of it. Also we were there for a wedding and the "special group rate" was more expensive than the normal rate on expedia. All in all, I probably would choose a cheaper hotel that had some better ammenities unless your main goal is to be right on the water.

We stayed in a standard room the first night and it was lovely. We moved to a canal room the second night. We want a lake front rooms but they can't have dogs in those rooms and we brought our doggy. The restaurant there is pretty pricey, but the food is good and the view from the patio is amazing.

Love this place. Rooms are great, very clean. Love the package. Beautiful surroundings around the lake area. The restaurant meal was great. We had the Filet Mignon — perfectly cooked — — culinary quality — desserts were great.! Best Creme Brûlée I have ever eaten Will definitely will return from time to time.

The Inn on the Lake is a beautiful place to stay and their staff is very gracious. Everything you could possibly need is close by but there's still such a peaceful and serene sense to the property that you feel like your miles away from it all.

If I could rate this a zero I would. Our room was very noisey and complaints to the service desk went nowhere. They simply didnt care. I e-mailed them twice after our stay and still didnt respond What a waste of money.

Lousy. Not sure who the gentleman was bartending this afternoon at the Sandbar, but after watching him serve several folks who showed up at the bar after I did and observing his greeting to customers "what do ya want" as opposed to "Hi, what I can get for you", which is what I expect, I ended up leaving without purchasing anything. I was planning to make a reservation to spend a weekend at the hotel in 2 weeks and I am now reconsidering if this is a reflection of the service you may also receive there.

Overpriced, dated hotel with awful service. Reserved two rooms for a week. Reservations made in January for June. When we arrived we found our reservations had been bumped to accommodate a wedding. Had to fight with rude staff who blamed us for the problem to get just one room for the first night. Rooms are extremely dated and not worth anywhere near the price. Sink and tub backed up every time you used them. Room keys stopped working almost every day and the staff said we were doing something wrong. At least three other members of our group had the same problems. I could go on and on, but I know no one will read it. When we checked out, I told them about the problems and they just said sorry and charged full price. In short, STAY AWAY!

We stayed for a weekend getaway, and this served the purpose. On the positive side, the bed was extremely comfortable, and we appreciated the adjoining suite, which had an extra TV and sitting area. The service was good, with polite/attentive staff (although no help with the bags). The Lemon Mascarpone cake in the restaurant was AMAZING, (worth going the restaurant, just for that). Also, the pool was maintained, and the hot tub/spa is pleasant and very relaxing. On the flip side, the room itself felt outdated in terms of decor, and a bit worn — for example, the hangers in the closet literally fell apart when I tried to hang my coat up — but they had signs up stating they are undergoing renovations. The biggest annoyance in the room was the lack of electrical outlets for our phones/devices, and to plug in a fan (hubby can't sleep without one). We were also disappointed that they had almost no in-room entertainment options, and were stuck with very poor quality TV picture (Direct TV) and one Showtime channel!? In 2015, I have better options on my phone. I know that you don't usually spend money on a hotel to watch TV, but we spent all day/evening out, then used the spa and wanted to go back to the room and watch a movie, but there were no DVD players, movie rental options, or even a channel/TV guide. Overall, we think it was overpriced for the experience. Our room had a view of a dumpster and cost $189/night.

My husband and I recently got married at Inn on the Lake and let me tell you, it was AMAZING. We truly cannot say enough good things about our entire experience! I would highly, highly recommend getting married here. For starters, from our very first meeting in June 2013 to our wedding in October 2014, Lori was WONDERFUL. She was always prompt with answering my questions (there were many) and she completely got my vision for our wedding from Day One. Lori was a true pleasure to work with, and by the date of the wedding it felt like I was working with a close friend. :) In addition, the rest of the staff at Inn on the Lake were nothing short of lovely. From check in, to hospitality, to the rest of the event staff, everyone was so nice, so accommodating, and just great people. Again, if you're looking for a stunning lakeside venue in the Finger Lakes, Inn on the Lake and Lori are your ticket to your very own "Best Day Ever! " :)

What a beautiful location. Only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because we came in with 6 bags and no one offered help or even a bag carrier. Also we got married there and still paid full price for our 3 night stay. There should be a discount for couples who rent the facility and stay there, at the very least on their wedding night. But it was beautiful and staff was friendly.
