Nothing like we expected at all. The rooms are super tiny and dirty inside. Our blankets had stains all over them. There were holes in the towels they provided us. The shower floor was peeling. There were bugs in our sink as well. I know people say you get what you pay for, but this place is a serious dump.

The El Ray Motel is a "you get what you pay for" kinda place. It is the cheapest option I found in Wildwood and fairly close to the boardwalk, granted it was at the very end of the board walk but that is what the tram car is for. The room was tiny and it had the basic necessities. Bring your own shampoo and conditioners, extra towels are available upon request to the front desk. Bring your own sheets as they don't have any fitted sheets for the bed, but the sheets they have are clean and feel brand new. The bed is a cheap motel bed and the pool is simple and does the job. The staff is nice to you if you just treat them with basic respect. Need a place to rest your head at night, this is the place. Looking for utter comfort and luxury, go pay for it elsewhere. My only real complaint is that our room was on the bottom floor and upon arrival the bathroom window was unlocked. I am glad I found it as soon as we arrived and I didn't have to worry about anyone coming in unwelcome. And there were fruit flies in the bathroom, but they didn't hurt anyone. What else are your 20s for?

I am 21 years old and apparently that is old enough to make a reservation, but not old enough to check in to the room without a parent. They ended up charging me for a room that I wasn't even allowed to stay in. Luckily I found a place nearby that had an open room or I would have wasted a 5 hour road trip to Wildwood. Thank you for starting my vacation off on a very bad note.

During our stay the Wi-Fi didn't work. I had to pay extra money to my phone carrier to use my phone e as a mobile hotspot so I could get work done. It was not the cleanest hotel, but it was clean enough.

OMG when I open the door I was hit with a horrible smell on top of that it had many fly and nets in the room the freezer was a block of ice I went to the office to let them know, they fixed the freezer by opening it, so then at night it was water all over the floors with towels wet about the bugs them came and sprayed bug spray all I could is cry this was two days before 4th of July my husband looked at me and told me to find another room the same day we checked in luck was on my side we was able to find a room, for the next day so I stayed up getting drunk so I didn't have to face that room for that one night it was a nightmare! #DON'TGOTHEIR.

I found a roach in our bed. Absolutely will never be coming back.

If you want a cheap place to crash, this place hits the nail on the head. There is no ice available, even in the attached pizza restaurant. My in-room refrigerator didn't freeze cubes during 3 days here. The coffee maker is grungy and they don't have any coffee even if you did want some. No cups suitable for hot drinks either, just flimsy clear plastic ones. No shampoo or hair dryer and the provided soap is about the size of a Nilla Wafer. The window ac unit runs constantly at 75db. (Yes, I have a decibel meter with me). This is equivalent to a busy street's traffic 3' from the bed. The shower and toilet worked well enough. The staff was friendly. The bed was decent even though the sheets would not stay on. There is an iron and board. I don't need that at the beach.

Every year for the last 3 years we have stayed at El Ray Motel. Its centrally located, wonderful staff from check in to checkout and the attached pizzeria is wonderful. Clean, spacious rooms and a well kept pool area. Well kept for a great price.

It's a little hole in the wall. Also there's no dressers to put your things away. But the staff is very friendly.

I spent a few nights here with my friends during the holiday week and the front desk was so helpful and accommodating and they were nice enough to allow me to check in sooner. I will be booking here again.

I booked a room for July 19 and cancelled it a day later. I kindly called them to see if they can waive the 200 dollars first night that they charged at the moment of booking. They totally did not want to hear me and said that they could not do anything about it. They are money hungry! Never again!

The motel is very conveniently located for the beach and the convention center in Wildwood. One side of the motel has beach front views. There is parking, a pool, Wi-Fi, and the rooms have what you need. The water in the showers and sinks is iffy and there are a lot of stairs, which are my only two complaints. The owner is wonderful and the staff members are friendly and on top of everything. Recommended if you're looking for somewhere cheaper to stay without crazy high end finishes.

Dingy. Nasty. Disgusting. Bed had bugs and sand in it. Hair in shower, a hole that could be seen directly from the outside through the AC. Reeked of cigarettes. I wouldn't have paid 20$ a night to let my dog sleep in this room for fear he'd walk out with scabies and fleas the next morning. Owners were the most rude people I've ever met and refused to refund our insanely overpriced deposits. Avoid this place at all costs!

Great place to stay while vacationing in wildwood new jersey! Great view of the beach when you want yo eake up and watch the sun rise. 1block from the beach litterally,. And loved our 2 balconies, the front and back, where we we're able to barbecue, … then enjoy the pool. Awesome!.

The owner is extremely rude and disrespectful. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone I know. Such an awful experience. There are plenty of other places to stay in the area that are much nicer with friendlier staff.

We expected something completely different from what we saw when we booked it. I think there is not a lot to add to the other negative reviews of this place. The only thing I don't agree with is that the owners are unfriendly. They were surprisingly friendly to us when we talked to them.

By far the worst hotel I've ever been to! Paper thin walls, pool DIRECTLY in front of room, so you can only imagine how noisy that could be. Poorly designed. Had to change hotels because of how unhappy I was. I do not recommend if you want to get away and have a relaxing vacation. NEVER RETURNING! Thank you for wasting my time and money.

If I can give no stars at this hotel I would! Recently visited this place & had the worse experience ever! My family and myself were very disappointed when we approached the owner of finding bedbugs on the bed, and there response was to check out / give the keys back and leave. After, all they were really rude & did not care that our kids were all bitten by the bedbugs at there place! Rooms are filthy, they do not change bed sheets daily, were stains all over the place! Please I repeat please do not book at this hotel there are bedbugs and there rude! If there was a wat I can Attach a picture of the bedbugs when we found it on the pillow/bed I would!

I Called to cancel my reservations from the 24th-the 29th of August after reading some bad reviews about bed bugs and moldy walls. The manager became rude while on the phone saying there's no bed bugs and we will lose the $145 dollar charge. He als lied and told me that the review was done months ago when they were written a few weeks ago. Scroll down and see! We have a 2 year old and I cannot risk him getting sick from a bad hotel room or getting bed bugs. He then threatened to take me to court if I write a bad review about the motel. His last words were cancel if you like I will take you to court if you write a bad review. Well here it is. See you in court!

Location is great. Room is decent. Not great. A few upgrades to the room/bathroom would improve the place immensely.

First off the owners of the El Ray are some of the nicest people we have ever met they have always treated my family so well that they are one of the reasons we keep coming back… they have always done everything to accommodate my family and make us happy. We could never thank them enough they are great people… It is such a friendly place to be, my 2 daughter's love there dog that walks around and is so friendly and there awesome parrot that hangs out in the office it's a fun environment to be in. There staff is very friendly and every one does a great job at what they do and a awesome pizza shop attached to the building. My kids love the pool cause there is always kids to play with, and it's only a block from the board walk and the beach wich rocks. And they have awesome rooftops that overlooks the board walk and the ocean that is very relaxing at anytime of the day and night to be on. We love the rooms that we have been in they're perfect, the beds are always comfortable and the bathrooms are perfect size with nice size showers and bathtubs for the kids if you need it, we love the balconies outside of the rooms some have a front and back balcony and the balcony overlooking the pool is nice also. We have been coming back here for the last 3 years and will keep coming back. I recommend it for anyone that wants to come down to wildwood for any period of time that you stay at the El Ray me and my family love it here and will keep coming back! great experience!

Awful. Do NOT come here. I'd love to show the pictures I took of this dump. I never review things poorly because I like to give the benefit of the doubt. Not this time. It was filthy. We couldn't take it anymore and checked out early. They refused to give our money back for the nights we didn't use. Then the guy called us idiots. Do yourself a favor, El Ray, go into a different business. You haven't updated or cleaned since 1963.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS…they are scam artists. Took a $140 deposit then would'nt refund it even though they refused to let my daughter check-in & then charged her another $125 cancellation fee. My daughter is 7 months pregnant & 23. She made a reservation for her and her bf (also 23) to have one last vacation before the baby is born. Nowhere on their site does it say you have to be 25 to rent a room. 2 days before they were to go she printed the reservation & on it was "must be 25 ". She tried to call to ask how strict they are (they are not some immature kids wanting to party) & had a hard time getting anyone to answer. After about 4 tries of all 3 numbers listed, the manager finally answered from what apparently was a cell phone number. He said he was not in the office & to call back, was very rude & he hung up. Thinking that someone has to be in the office (who was running the place if no one is there) she tried the other numbers again & no answer for several tries (this was during the day). When she did get an answer it apparently had transferred to the cell phone & the same guy answered rudely. She said she had a question & he said he was busy & was "not answering any questions " then hung up. After some research… we found other sites where people complained they were strict on the age limit. Then we even found a site saying they DO accept under 25. Their "policy" is different on different sites & does not even show on others.

Great place. Quiet, clean, friendly staff.

Love it here stayed last year for the first time and the owner was great he upgraded my room no charge very nice staff and the guy with the parrot is hilarious can't wait to check back in.

First of all let me say I'm up in there air about my feelings of this place. I think for the price it was pretty decent. But, truth be told I have a lot negative to say about our time here. Yes this is long but please read it. First the family who owns the place was very nice and personable with us, but at the same time I was a bit annoyed at the service. The biggest reason we decided to stay here, other than price, was the kitchenette in the room so we could cook for ourselves and spend our money on more fun things. When we first got to the room one of the stove tops wasn't working. I went to the office and she said, Oh ok my husband will have to take a look at it he's in Atlantic city just make due till he gets back. Around 9 I happen to notice a man walking around that might be her husband I had to ask him for help and he had no idea there was an issue. Then, he made a joke about paying him 5 bucks to fix it. Uh no it should have worked when we got here, and you should have fixed as soon as you got back, and why would I tip you for something that should have worked in the first place. Next was the issue with signing in. They were so strict. Had to be over 25 which we are. We were made to ware a bracelet to prove we belong here. For a week damn thing was so nasty by day two. Oh and by the way no one else at the hotel was told to ware one. Especially not the people under the age of 25 staying there.

The owners were great, extremely accommodating. This is a motel as are most others in Wildwood therefore some of the other reviews are a bit harsh. Our room was spacious with a side balcony with a view of the beach. The location was ideal to the convention center, beach, boardwalk and all Wildwood has to offer.

Possibly bed bugs? I woke up with tiny bites all on my side. The room DEFINITELY had cockroaches and ants. I'd rather sleep in a port-o-john. The manager was extremely rude, when my concerns were brought to their attention, I was told to "go F#*k myself. " After which, I was told to leave and get off his property. He brought out his son as a form of intimidating us to leave. Save yourself the time and money, bring a tent and sleep on the beach.

Very rude management! He tried making me stay in a room I didn't pay for (it was a way smaller room). Then he started screaming because I said I wanted the room I paid for. Very nasty people. Also the motel looked dirty!

This place was great. Owners were welcoming, staff was friendly, guests would greet each other, and the property was clean. The boardwalk is very close and access to the beach is easy through the Convention Centers rear ramp leaving you closer to the beach and a shower to clean up after you leave. Whatever we needed the staff and the owner would provide and they were also knowledgeable of the area they did business at. The only drawback is the Wi-Fi goes out from time to time but this also reminded me that I was on vacation and should enjoy it without needing it. Which I did. All n All… My wife and I enjoyed our stay and will be staying here in the future.

I really don't know where all the complaints come from. Yeah the room was small. But it's a motel, not a hotel. I have nothing but good things to say about my stay there. Owners were friendly and courteous. Room was clean. Pool was clean. A/c, fridge, and microwave all worked. Would definitely stay there again.

I called to reserve a room, transaction went through. Five minutes later I receive a call saying I called back asking if I could smoke illegal substances. This never happened. I don't partake in those activities. I was looking for somewhere nice to stay to celebrate my 25th birthday. Sad owners have to make up stories and lies. Don't stay somewhere owners cannot be trusted.

Excellent service at a really good rate and a nice half block walk from the beach.

Friendly employees, and friendly owners, this will be our third year staying with them and I can honestly say you get what you pay for and to be as close as you are to the beach and boardwalk I think they have great prices!. It's nowhere near what people are making it out to be. I recommend this place to everyone that wants to go to wildwood.

You get what you pay for! Remember that. I experienced horrible customer service when it came to refunding my security deposit after three weeks of checking-out. I ended up disputing it with my credit card.

We stay here every year and love it! The owners and staff are friendly and remember us every year. Clean, cheap, and always willing to let us a book a room for just one night even on the weekends, which is a rare find in Wildwood now days. Nice pool, with rules but not strictly enforced hours. Nice pizza place attached. We recommend this place to everyone we know. The only thing I don't like is tiled floors instead of carpets. But we just ask for extra towels and put them down when we know we will be coming back to the room wet. GREAT place.

This place was by far the worst experience I ever had with a hotel. I've been going to wildwood every year for 20 years and I learned not to expect a Hilton in wildwood. This place is owned by a bunch of crooks. I stayed here last year for 2 nights and when I came home I noticed there were charges taken from my credit card account. He spent $80 dollars on two transactions with my credit card. Then I noticed the $100 security deposit was transferred through my account. I called the guy and argued with him for literally a half and hour until I eventually threatened to call the credit card company and tell them he stole the credit card number and call the cops. Still didn't work so I ended up calling the credit card company and telling them what happened that way I wasn't charged. Do not stay at this hotel.

I stayed here a few times and always had a great experience every time. The staff is wonderful, the location is great and the room was a great value for the money. The pool was nice and clean when I went there although there was some kids splashing around that day but there is a pizza store literately 2 steps away for a pool side food (the pizza is great btw).
