Staying here we could walk to historic locations. Close to train and subway. Great staff and historic building.

Nice place, clean, and helpful staff. Byron was great! He was very helpful with suggestions and so nice! He even carried my bag out to my car in the rain when I had unknowingly parked in a tow zone. He went above and beyond!

I have never been in a hotel before that specializes in such great customer service. It is rare to find a place that is perfect in location and so accommodating.

Great hospitality, excellent view of the city and they also have a free continental breakfast. Checkout is at noon so you get a little bit of time to sleep in and they're pretty accommodating for early check-ins as well as long as you give him a shout before you get there. I will definitely be staying here again on my next trip to Philadelphia.

Nice place in city center. Easy walks to attractions. Rates are fair, room clean, desk help was awesome. Continental breakfast was minimal but very good. Parking is not at the hotel, it's a couple easy blocks walking distance, and hotel gives you a discount voucher for overnight fee. I'd stay there again.

I really enjoyed my very recent two (2) — night stay. My room was spotless. Everything worked, as it should. So much so, I actually wanted to linger, in my room. It's more coziness, than impressively, state of the art luxurious. It's also in one of Philadelphia's most quaint neighborhoods.

The location is amazing. Centrally located, you can walk where you need to and get a ride elsewhere easily. The restaurants around the hotel are fantastic and Alexander offers a list of the staffs' favourites in a variety of categories. The rooms are small, but that's to be expected in a city with a premium on space. I did not sleep particularly well, but my colleague did, so it could have just been an off night for me. The shower is spacious and easily controllable. The service was lovely. The concierge was able to answer anything I asked and was kind enough to offer refrigerator space for leftover food, as my room did not have a mini-fridge. Housekeeping was prompt and efficient. The breakfast was included, although it offered a limited amount of fare. The parking was situated several blocks away, but the hotel had you pay for it upon checkout and gave a nice discount for the 24-hour time window.

One-night stay was great. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly. The rooms are clean, and the location is great for UArts families. Enjoyed the stay and we will return again!

It's not disgusting but I wouldn't let my bare skin touch the floor in the rooms. There is usually something that doesn't work in the room. In the winter, the heat isn't controlled per room. Cleanliness is an issue in the rooms and in the gym (which also serves as a business center and really doesn't have any weights or workout equipment). The elevator will take 4 hours to get to you, so use the stairs. It's a tolerable experience for the price. The staff is awesome, I'll give them that. Oh… And my co-workers love the breakfast.

Great boutique style hotel with great location to center City. Even though we were early and our room wasn't ready, the staff took our luggage for us and offered us a snack. Friendly staff and clean rooms. Checkout not till 12 is a plus too.

Beautiful inn located in an eclectic area of central Philly. The staff is amazing and breakfast is included. It is a little piece of history with beautiful decor and fantastic architecture.

This is my third stay at The Alexander Inn. I cannot recommend it enough, it feels like coming home when you arrive. Beautiful building, fantastic architectural details, clean, comfortable along with a warm and friendly staff.
It’s a straight 1 mile or so shot to the convention center (why we are), in walking distance of soooo many historical sites, great food and shopping.
I was told this morning that there was extra love in the coffee and I believe it! Did I mention the kick butt complimentary breakfast they offer.
I can’t wait until next year!

Great location in the city, close walking distance to almost everything. Parking is a little pricey but not terrible. Beds are comfy and the room is fairly small for the price but if all you're using it for is to sleep then it's just fine.

We had a very nice stay. The staff were very friendly and the continental breakfast was good. The Inn was walking distance to a lot of nice restaurants. The parking structure was also near by. The clerk had forgotten to tell us that we were to pay for parking at the Inn which would of saved us $13.00 dollars each time we left. The cost would of been $20.00 instead of $33.00 That would be our only complaint.

Great hotel in the Gaybourhood! ️‍ Perfectly compact hotel rooms each with a lovely view of the city. (Pro-Tip: get a room above the 5th floor for maximum city lights. ) Beds are comfortable. 24 hour fitness/business area. (It's an ancient stationary bike and some other equally antiquated equipment and two desktop computers with printers, but honestly, go outside and walk around the city! ) Basic amenities and a free morning breakfast bar and light snacks all day.

Been staying here for almost 20 years and I wouldn't consider anywhere else. The staff is like family to us and are always very friendly and helpful to all guests. It's location makes it an easy walk to anything you would want to see in Philly and It's within a few blocks of dozens of the best restaurants in town.

Very welcoming Hotel, we were greeted very well and were super friendly. The room is very nice, clean, comfortable and with all the necessities. It has free Wi-fi which is valued especially if you come from other countries.
If I returned to Philadelphia I would not hesitate to return to this hotel. Highly recommended.

Very nice place and very helpful staff. I have two negative comments — hence 4 stars; pillows are not comfortable and I'd like tea and coffee in the room. It's available in the lobby but I'm on 6th floor and right now 8.10am I could do with a cup of tea. Ended up switching AC off — too cold. Overall though — good and good location.

V Friendly staff. Set in the "gaybourhood" part of town. Breakfast was good, lots of choice. Room had everything that I needed and supplies were refilled DAILY! towels were changed daily regardless of if we wanted to reuse. Air con easy to use. An eco-aware hotel. Good location to city. Historic building. Wi-Fi available free.

What a Quaint little hotel right in the heart of town close to all the shops restaurants and transit! Had a wedding nearby at the downtown club so we chose this place because the proximity and great reviews, it lived up to my expectations with the cleanliness, friendly service from the gentleman at the front desk, and wonderful complimentary continental breakfast in a nice seating area, now as far as the room was concerned I felt it to be a little small but adequate, The beds were very comfortable and it had a nice sized flat screen, I slept like a baby throughout the night! There was a desk and comfy chairs w charming lamps as well, the bathroom was also smaller than I would have liked but seemed updated, The large windows offered a nice view of the city nearby, One thing I didn't like was the water pressure in the shower, it was lacking, probably due to the fact it is an older building, also what I didn't appreciate it was a call to my room from the front desk at 11 o'clock saying there were complaints about us being too loud, first of all it was Friday night second of all it was my entire family with my kids/niece & nephews and just got back from my cousins wedding and were chatting about it, last time I checked it was a hotel not a freaking library but I digress lol The good outweighed the bad here though and if eva back in Philly I'll definitely be back!

I visited Philadelphia in June, 2017 for the first time. Purpose of trip was to visit Revolutionary Era sites and the Museum of the American Revolution. I didn't need a hotel with a bunch of amenities that I would pay a bunch for, but never use. I didn't plan to be at the hotel often. I chose the Alexander Inn based on reviews I have read and I made a good choice. I had a single room that overlooked the city which was awesome. The only thing that keeps me from awarding a 5th star is the A/C was not strong enough. I like a very cool room, and I don't believe the unit would have provided the temperature I typically like, especially for sleeping. Fortunately, the weather was awesome during my stay and the nights were very cool. But had I stayed the following week when temps got into the upper-90's, I fear it would not have been very pleasant. But overall, this was a great place! The location is in a section that is predominately gay… and I am not… and it didn't matter to me as it might to some. People were awesome… walked everywhere… South St. Was great! What a great city… I told many that I met that they are right to be proud to live in such a place! Wish I was there now. Living near a large city that is essentially sterile and soul-less, I appreciated the history and culture of Philly. Stay at the Alexander Inn… it's a great place in a great town.

Stayed there last year, had a great stay. Staff are extremely helpful and very friendly. Room was clean, even though it was a little dated. Great location for doing the touristy things.

Room is very nice, quaint. Bathroom shower is very nice. Toilet runs, but it's fixable. Rooms will also get hot so it's good to run the vent/ac.

This is a nice boutique style hotel in a good location in Philadelphia. The hotel is centrally located and within walking distance to many Philadelphia attractions. The staff it's friendly and helpful and our room was clean.

I am quite surprised to see these high reviews because this hotel did not meet my expectations at all. Yes, the staff was friendly but I guess I am accustomed to higher end hotel life. The rooms are way too small and without refrigerators and microwaves which then makes the rooms overpriced. This hotel is like staying the weekend at your great aunt's house so if you like that feel, it's good. Old worn furniture and it just didn't "feel" or appear clean because of it. The rooms are stuffy so you either need to open a window or turn on the air. There are no screens in the windows so opening a window is risky for flying visitors and running the air makes for an unpleasantly chilly night. Also, the area is noisy so an open window was disturbing at night. Toilet started to act up and I had to go and get the plunger and fix the toilet myself. Breakfast was way too basic for my needs. No meat on a buffet? No hot food at all. The guest consist of many elderly people so maybe this place is well suited for them. I was disappointed and will not return next year.

Great hotel! Great City! This hotel is in a perfect location. Good walking distance from the historical areas, night life etc. Parking was super easy just a few blocks away and we paid for it right at the hotel front desk at check out. As soon as we enter the hotel we were warmly welcomed by John who was extremely helpful on the best places to be in this huge city. All-around awesome place to stay and can't wait to return!
