Review of Motel 6-East Brunswick, NJ 2*

The positives: The night manager was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean, the bedding smelled fresh. Parking was close to the building, and free. The vending machines were full. The free morning coffee was good. The negatives: The TV went from medium dark to very dark with no adjustment button on the remote. The fan on the heater blower woke me up at 3 in the morning. The outside light in front of my room (211) shone through the top and sides of the draperies while the ill-fitting entry door allowed light to flood through the entire perimeter of the door. I had to place a towel on the floor to keep out some of the light. Also, the entry doors do not close gently; I heard 4 people at the end of the hall leave between 4 and 6 am. The walls do not keep out street noises. I heard air brakes, distant construction and a short conversation before my alarm went off for me to go to work. The second day, a family with Very young kids ran up and down in their room above me. The concrete floors did not keep their playful screaming or their footfalls contained in their room. I almost ran for help when the brash sounds of what I later determined was the water pressure from the bath or shower from the room above, mixed with the blower in the vent which comes on when you turn the bathroom light on. I heard an argument in the hall between a man and a woman, with the F___word yelled numerous times by the man demanding rent money from one of the long-termed guests. Finally, I received no final receipt for the two nights that I stayed. I realize a lot of people would be able to ignore the things I am complaining about, but for me, since I had a choice, I packed my bags and went to another place where none of the above issues were present. This experience reminded me, you get what you pay for!
