We had a great time at The Essex! The resort is lovely and the staff couldn’t be nicer and more helpful. Our room was immaculate. We did the Creative Kitchen cooking class with Chef Marcus and had a great time and a SUPER meal. We completely enjoyed ourselves and would come back in a heartbeat. Next time we will remember to bring swimsuits and take advantage of the pool and hot tub.

Absolutely loved the chefs table at Junction, the restaurant at the Inn. Chef is very personable and the food is fabulous!

Grounds were beautiful. Some of the rooms were a little musty but the front desk was gracious enough to move us.

They hide the resort fee in the details of the taxes section at the end of checkout, instead of being outfront about it. It does not show until the last section of actual booking.

Wonderful place to visit for gathering's, and a Wedding Venue. Fantastic food and Service with an elegant ambience.

Quintessential, quaint, romantic New England resort with excellent amenities and an amazing in-house tavern and fine dining restaurant with a phenomenal menu. Perfect for a long weekend getaway.

Recently spent a relaxing day at the spa which was perfect! I especially enjoyed the massage (with CBD) with Cait. The long trail pancakes at The Tavern are delicious!

Too expensive for what it is. 260 fir 80 minute massage. It was very nice. You can use the hittub and pool and buy lunch if you want, but ti me its not worth that much money.

Wonderful one night getaway! Concierge staff was very helpful: even giving us a late checkout when our room wasn’t ready for check in at 4. Nicole and Kimberly, our chef and waitress, at The Junction were incredibly accommodating and the food was phenomenal.

The attentive staff, the large suite, the on-site restaurants and a beautiful spa.

We loved every minute of our stay! Extremely clean, friendly staff, delicious food, superb spa and amenities!

This is our third stay and we absolutely love it here! Activities for our family of 4 include pools, tennis, biking, and bonfires. Love the expansive property with gardens, chickens, and goats. Family lawn games are also awesome! We love that its located in driving distance to both burlington and stowe. Plenty of breweries to visit. Every time we come, there's something new to do. This time was Mtn biking!

I stay in a lot of hotels around the country and this is my top favorite. It’s cozy and clean and so much to do. Staff takes great care of us. The food is so authentic to the local flavors and tastes incredible.

Best Place Ever! Always a great over night. Staff is always friendly and accommodating! Love this place in the winter time. Its beautiful here♡♡

The staff here is very friendly and makes you feel comfortable and at home they are very helpful courteous and attentive. The rooms are excellent spacious clean. The pool is enormous. The gym is excellent as is everything the ground. Historic building of the building Definitely coming back.

The food was amazing, everyone was very friendly and the spa was nice. The biggest downfall were the amount of kids running around. We didn’t get to enjoy the pool or hot tub because kids had taken over. At dinner kids were kicking and screaming at the tables around us. For the amount of money we spent on a kid free getaway I think we will look to go somewhere else.

My family and I had a wonderful time at the Essex. The staff was helpful and welcoming during our entire stay. Our room was spacious and perfect for all five of us. Highly recommend!

My nephew Michael and his beautiful bride Crystal were married in the Atrium! All accommodations were excellent! The rooms are clean and spacious… The Manor… The Manson… spectacular! Thank you to The Essex… you made it a wedding to remember!

This hotel is unique, they have cooking classes (unfortunately they were sold out the 3 days we were there). The Tavern was where we had all our breakfast and dinner. The menus are small but every single item on the menu is delicious. The room is nice and big, bed are big and comfy, nice linen. The bathroom however needs a little update. It’s clean but just outdated. We will come back for sure next time we are in Vermont.

Went in for. A quick dinner after a very busy weekend. So disappointed In our dinner. My husband was serve his salmon raw, we asked them to cook it and they brought him a second raw salmon. The Bok Choy was good, but the servings were so big you had to cut it, but the knife you were given made it impossible to cut it. The management did not charge us for my husbands meal but the manager did not care enough about his customer to come out and personally apologize. Extremely disappointed and will rethink coming back again.

Went to the Tavern for a birthday dinner. Just out to have fun really but definitely the most expensive horrible meal ever. Four people one seared salmon, one salmon sandwich one whistle pig burger and one gnocchi and vegetable. Both salmons were way over cooked as well as the burger. The gnocchi was small and hard and mixed in with this vegetable mash and a super thick cream sauce that was gloopy. Presentation was horrible for a " culinary resort " and the portions were incredibly small, the salmon on the sandwich only needed half the roll it came on and looked rediculous. The roll was also cold, and hard like just dethawed. There was about 3/4 of a cup of the gnocchi in a huge bowl. No side salad or bread either for the entrees all though the two sanwhiches had potatoe puffs scattered around. Not thrilled considering each was over twenty dollars and we had a good size bar tab… that we practically had to beg the waitress to supply. So disappointed.

Had a very nice stay. Rooms were bright and colorful and we had breakfast by the large picture window as it snowed. Beautiful.

My husband and I came here for a weekend with our dog. The entire staff was welcoming, enthusiastic and very efficient. The grounds were lovely as was our room. We enjoyed dining at the Tavern and the Junction. We can’t wait to come again!

Went for the first time this past weekend. Absolutely loves the place! The tavern was awesome and the hot tub pool area was great. Loved the relaxation room!

Great place to catch a movie staff is very friendly and is very knowledgeable I highly recommend the Essex Cinemas because the atmosphere is amazing and great screens.

Beautiful, but not worth the expense. I really, really wanted to love this place. I booked myself a day early ahead of a work trip and while the grounds are gorgeous and the food delicious, the staff and service was very "meh. " Definitely a difference between value and cost. From the lack of smiles at the welcome desk to the "over there" descriptions of how to find things, I was very unimpressed with the service. The front desk staff was often on their computer terminals an…d not observing the comings/goings of guests. I witnessed other guests as well as myself waiting inches from the staff with not even an "I'll be with you in moment. " I called twice to see if I could check in ahead of the 3 p. M. Arrival and was put immediately to voice mail. I didn't get a call back, so I arrived early, only to be told my room wasn't ready at 1 p. M. — totally understandable. I was told they'd text when it was ready and by 3:15 I went over to inquire in person since I had not heard. I was told, "Oh, you didn't get a text? " For a place that focused on food and activity, especially in such an eco-conscious locale, I'd expect plenty of fresh, cold water for guests. There was no water available to refill water bottles, and once again, received a wave and "there is a sink over there" response.

Best theater in the area. We always go to the T-Rex. The seats, screen, and sound are worth it compared to other theaters in the area. Let's face it, movies aren't cheap anymore. Wide variety if showings and times. Highly recommend.

Great theater. Probably one of the best theaters in VT. They have a great restaurant and bar attached to theater. Great staff and theaters! They do have a T-Rex theater. Enjoy!

Dined in the tavern last night/ Huge disappointment, new menu, no more arugula and beet salad, it was one of the best! No more grilled pot roast sandwich-it was the best sandwich I ever had. Plate I had was terrible, I could not eat it, not one bite Waitress offered a discount of $3.45, really?

Love this place. T-rex 3d cinema is awesome. Comfortable seats and typical refreshments and the standard theatre pricing yet still cheaper than other theatres in the area. Easy access with plenty of parking.

I am partially disabled and when I could not sit in their seats without extreme pain, we had to leave BEFORE the movie started. The management refused to give us a refund but offered us a credit for later use. What, you think my disability is going to magically go away after 40 years? What good is giving us a credit when I can't sit in these seats? Soooo angry at their treatment of people with disabilities, I wish everybody would boycot this theatre!

Love this cinema great seats great movies and great location. I highly recommend this theater.

My favorite movie theatre in VT. Comfortable and clean. Miss the pinball machine though.

My only complaint was, my stay wasn’t long enough. The resort itself is a throwback to a forgotten era of style and class, yet enhanced with modern comforts. We were only able to dine at th Tavern but, the food, drinks, and service were all excellent. The best part of the stay though was the dinner experience. As far as I’m concerned, Dante made it worth every dollar! He was thorough, and professional. I’m somewhat comfortable in the kitchen and lack knowledge in that area…, but he helped and adjusted his patience to offset that. The food was also amazing! I would love to come again.

The best cinema in Vermont but I am giving it one star until I can buy tickets online. It has never worked for me.

The seats are comfortable and the theater rooms are spacious! The associates that work there are friendly!

I love this theater and the employees there. It is, hands down, the best theater anywhere in this area. My only suggestion would be that you reduce ticket prices for movies in Theater It's just way too small to cost the same as seeing a movie in one of the regular-sized theater rooms. You charge extra for the T-Rex because it so big, why not take a little off for the theater that is so small? A reduced ticket price would make me see movies there, but as it is, if a film is playing in that theater I skip it. Not a complaint though, just a suggestion. I see all my blockbusters in the T-Rex, so worth it!

One of the best theaters I have ever had the pleasure of viewing a 3D movie in.

Supervisor was very unwilling to answer any questions I had and was extremely rude. Whoever ther blonde was working last Saturday night.

To me, there’s really nothing like indulging in a spa day, especially on a cold winter’s day following multiple hours of skiing or traveling. After a facial, and many hours spent relaxing and rejuvenating at the Spa at The Essex, I felt like a million bucks! My skin had been screaming for help (the harsh winter weather can do a number on your skin) and a facial with Erica was just what the doctor ordered. By the end of the treatment, my dry skin was feeling hydrated and happy and was exactly what I needed. Erica really went above and beyond by writing up a skin regimen for me with products she thought would help improve the look and feel of my skin. I have since been using all of the products Erica recommended and can already see and feel a huge difference in my skin health. She’s a wizard! My boyfriend received a Tranquility Hot Oil Cocoon which is a luxurious full body cocoon that is designed for anyone seeking deep relaxation while delivering great nourishment; increased circulation and a sense of total well being. He said that it felt like he was on the beach wrapped in a warm blanket and that his skin felt extremely hydrated after the treatment. Following our treatments, I retired to the woman’s lounge area where I relaxed with a warm cup of tea, read some magazines by the fire, and relaxed in the sauna and steam room.

Great theater. The TRex is awesome. Friendly staff. Fun opening night events. Would recommend.

Went to the movies on New Years Day. To my surprise the movie theatre was pretty quiet, we had the whole theatre to ourself while watching our movie. Service is underwhelming but fine, movie sound and quality were very satisfactory and place was clean. Will return.

TREX theatre is great 3D experience. Prices are cheaper than in Williston.

Great movies, great food, only TRex theater in the country! Not quite an IMAX theater, but still really great quality.

It's clean and convenient, but there doesn't seem to be any screening for R movies. I've had to leave movies before because babies have cried during them, or young children scream. Who brings a newborn and an 8 year old to Sicario?

We were sitting in the TRex theater and a couple came and sat behind us, during the previews, we were passing the snacks, due to the whispers of asking if we wanted the snack or not, the couple went down to complain that we were being "loud". A worker came up and spoke with us, he was completely professional, then 2 more times the couple went down to complain again, when we whispered a question about the movie to eachother… so 2 workers came up, we had told them what was happening, and they still threatened to throw us out next time, there was a couple right directly in front of us that hadn't heard us the whole time, if anything they should've been complaining too, but we were not being loud. Instead of telling the couple behind us to move, we were threatened we were gonna be thrown out? They were the only ones complaining? Doesn't that say something? The staff obviously doesn't know how to do their jobs properly!

T-Rex Theater: comfortable seats, nice screen but the stadium seating is so far away from the screen that it really doesn’t feel all that ‘T-Rex’—if you’re expecting an IMAX experience you will be really disappointed, especially considering the $15 ticket price. All other theaters/screens: don’t bother—Very outdated theaters with uncomfortable and crammed seats (good luck if you’re over 5’10), horrible sound (LOUD voices/everything else is whisper quite –regardless of which theater you’re in) and 3D so messed up you can actually see the movie better without the glasses on. And don't even get me started on how absurd it is that they even sell tickets to that dinky little screen off the bar — most people's living rooms are bigger/have better TVs. If you’re a film buff and you care about presentation, skip it—the staff does not know how to fix any issue that pops up. Not blaming them at all, they are very nice, they're clearly just not able to/not trained.

The best movie theater in the area for seeing g premieres on the big screen — — named the T-Rex. Theaters are clean and well-maintained. Popular on weekends. Not the closest to Burlington, so plan extra time for the drive. GPS will help for your first time visit. Highly Recommended!

My husband and I visited The Essex Resort & Spa for our honeymoon and it was absolutely wonderful! The staff was fantastic and welcoming, the spa itself was relaxing and full of amenities, the restaurants were delightful, and our room and the grounds were absolutely perfect. I am so glad we had the opportunity to visit and spend our honeymoon in beautiful Vermont, and neither of us can wait to go back!

We stayed at The Essex Resort and Spa last night and it was amazing! We didn't get the chance to use much of their amenities but stayed in a wonderful king suite! We took a walk around the property last night and this morning and enjoyed the peace and tranquility we found while doing so! The staff was very polite and helpful… thank you Nicole for helping us with check in, Sarah for preparing the room, Heather for the service at the tavern… which had amazing burgers! Yum! All in all it was a great stay and we plan to return on another getaway!

They recently redid thier whole restaurant situation. They totally fixed it up into a very nice modern restaurant (s) with good fast service. (It sucked before they fixed it) The menu for the Tavern is now very simple and has a low number of items, all of which are very well done.

My fiancé and I had a mini mid-winter getaway for a few days (thank you, Groupon! ) and we enjoyed our stay at the Essex Resort and Spa very much. The front desk staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was small but cute and cozy, and was just what we wanted. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable it made leaving quite difficult! We had a belated Valentine's Day dinner and cocktails at Junction, which was a treat. My fiancé got the venison striploin which was AMAZING and I had the mushroom risotto, which was delicious as well. The pool and hot tub were a nightly ritual for us during our stay, a perfect way to end a day exploring what VT has to offer. We will be back for sure!

It was a bit cold the few days I was there, so I was unable to enjoy any outdoor activities. The staff was incredibly courteous and ready to help with anything. The two restaurants located on the property had great food, but one was a bit pricey. The water was hot in the shower and the Wi-Fi speeds were Netflix capable.
