We had a very nice stay at Christopher Dodge House. The room and Inn has some wonderful "touches" that are quite welcoming. We loved the gas-lit fireplace that heated our room! Breakfast was perfect and water pressure is amazing, LOL. Location is also terrific… very convenient to everything! Highly recommend!

Perfect stay for the business woman traveling alone. Very clean environment, quant rooms, delicious meals, gas fireplace in the rooms with gorgeous wide plank wood floors. 24/7 coffee and tea which is a huge plus. A wonderful stay, highly recommended.

I am a repeat guest of The Christopher Dodge House. I attend a convention in Providence every year and this is my favorite place to stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the rate was lower than hotels near the convention. The rooms are clean and spacious. A very home-like atmosphere with on-site parking and an overflow lot very nearby. It's why I will continue to stay there and why you should make The Christopher Dodge House your place to stay when you are in Providence.

Every aspect is perfect when it comes to staying at the Christopher Dodge House. The building has such cozy charm. Staff is amazing, breakfast in the morning is delicious and our room is beautiful. We'll definitely be coming back!

I usually stay at well known hotel in Providence when the price was just way to much for hotel a looked at B&B and saw this place. It was perfect comfy sheets, great staff, breakfast great, location great, free parking amazing, so no more hotel for me.

Lovely place full of character. Joan at breakfast was very welcoming and helpful. Clean with lots of nice touches to make it just a little bit more special. Well worth trying and good location for downtown, not too far to walk.

We stayed here recently. Five minute walk to the capital building. Lovely room, right price, helpful staff, clean, quiet, comfortable, and wonderful breakfast. Hope to return in October.

Clean and comfortable B and B. Great staff. Great breakfasts. Decor is kind of drab. Not a lot of charm. Beds are comfortable. Rooms are generally spacious. Limited parking. Rooms on highway side are very noisy. Rooms on other side are quiet. Location is on opposite side of interstate from city center, Brown, RISD, restaurants, theaters, etc. So driving is required, unlike lodging options downtown or college hill. Reasonable value.

We booked it online, and came here to find that we've been allotted a room on the third floor. While this is a nice B&B, we certainly would not have booked a room here, if we had realized that this place doesn't have elevators. There's nothing on their website to indicate that they have rooms on the third floor that you have to go up to on winding staircases. They neither mention that they do not have elevators, nor that rooms are on the furst, second or third floors. Not good for arthritic knees. Not worth the good money they charge, for you to lug your bags up three flights of stairs!

Room clock not on time, stairs narrow and steep. Blast very good. Rt 95 noise close. Needed small elevator0more hotel than in or bnb.

I travel a lot and that bed was the most comfortable I have ever slept in. Would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Lovely place convenient to downtown, train station, stores. Friendly staff with nice common areas and ridiculously soft sheets and nice, fluffy towels. Beware the stairs… they are narrow and steep and there isn't an elevator. Not a make or break thing, just slightly sucky if you have a suitcase or out of shape or both. I would stay here again even if it had to be on the third floor ;)

My friends were offended because I chose to stay here instead of with them. But there was no other option, for this is the little gem of Providence. I've been coming for 5 years, and each time it feels like going to grandma's house. From the cookies at the door to the clear explanation and labels for everything, you feel warm and safe instantly. The pillow exchange closet and the made to order breakfasts give the luxury you'd expect a higher price for, and everything is squeaky clean and orderly. As a native south Floridian, I consider Chris Dodge like my own personal retreat house for when I escape to the North for a while. It's a wonder I've forgotten to leave a review all these years. But this day I remember, because in my last stay, there was a winter storm which brought the owners and their children to the house to serve their customers with their own hands, having given the staff the day off. And not only that, but dinner was on the house that night so that we would not have to worry about going out in the snow. There's just unbelievable customer service and charity on the part of these owners. Give it a shot!

What a great moment of experiencing sleeping in a colonial era house right by the capital. Great parks and museums in walking distance. Short drive to wonderful restaurants and such. And the staff here is marvelous. Alynne is a treasure.

This place is comforting, cozy and smells delicious. I loved this place for three reasons — the warm helpful staff, the warm scent of fresh baked goodies (which is probably the first thing you'd notice as you enter) and the bright red hallway. This quaint establishment is everything you'd expect from a typical bed and breakfast place and much more. That is the comfort of a home away from home minus all the chores. It's conveniently located near Downtown; walking distance from the Amtrak station, the convention centre and the Cheesecake Factory :)
The decor so exquisite with stylish accents, furnishings and well placed accessories that adds the right amount of dynamism to the rooms. My room was on the third floor and it was a bit difficult getting my luggage all the way up but the sweet lady staffer helped me drag that heavy bag right up to my room. Another lady staffer was so generous to pack the special breakfast as I had an early start. Not to forget the complimentary snack bar near the dining room that is well equipped with a variety of baked goodies, tea, coffee and hot cocoa. If you're in Providence for work or leisure and are looking for a place to stay, then look no further than CDH.

We enjoyed our stay — beautiful big rooms with an old world charm! We didn't drive and the inn was 10-15 mins of walk from everything in the city. Breakfast was delicious and the team running the inn were kind and warm.

Wonderful stay just a tad to close to the highway but considering the location and cost this was money well spent. I would ask for any room away from the freeway. The service here was great the other guest were courteous and friendly. This was a delightful stay.

This was my first time ever staying at a bed and breakfast. I was in town for a conference being held at the Renaissance hotel about a 5-10 minute walk away. I enjoyed the walk along quaint Holden Street every day. My room was on the third floor and the nice lady who checked me in helped me carry my ridiculously heavy suitcase up the three flights of stairs. The room itself was very nice and spacious. I was happy to see a small refrigerator in the room also. I had a little trouble with the Wi-Fi; it seemed slow at times, but that may have just been the security settings on my work laptop. Based on other reviews, I requested a room on the west side of the house to help with traffic noise, but I could still hear the highway. I didn't find it very bothersome, though. Whenever I turned on the a/c, it would drown out the sounds of traffic. I also brought a white noise machine with me to use at night, but I didn't even use it every night. Unless you're just super-sensitive to ambient noises, I wouldn't expect the road sounds to be very troublesome. I had breakfast three of the four mornings I was there. I was glad to see that they opened the breakfast room at 7:30 during the week, because based on other reviews, I thought it wouldn't start until 8:00. (It might be helpful to provide more details about how breakfast is served on the website). I chose the "hot" option all three mornings. Once was waffles; once pancakes; and once an omelet.

Christopher Dodge House has well attended rooms, with charm and style of simplicity that evokes the historical feeling of New England. Yet the modern amenities are all within the rooms. The freedom to be reclusive or social, to get a coffee or baked good at any time all felt very much like home. The staff were warm, friendly and considerate, offering suggestions and sharing the history and surrounding points of interest. The only area I would wish to improve upon would be to have a specified daily vegetarian or non-meat option available for breakfast, the same as is provided for the meat option, equal in presentation, interest and description.

This is a decent bed and breakfast but BEWARE IT SIDES THE FREEWAY. If you are staying in a room on east side of the property you will hear freeway noise night and day! The rooms are very spacious and the home is very quaint, the staff is accommodating and they are very hospitable with fresh baked cookies, etc. There is no elevator, due to the age of the property so getting your luggage up and down several flights of stairs was a little challenging. I would recommend staying here, just make sure you get a room away from the freeway side!

My daughter and I stayed there 3 years ago and got there very late. We arrived around 12:00 pm and they were so thoughtful to leave instructions on how to get in and get the keys to our room. The room was spectacular, even thou you had to climb stairs to the top floor with laugage. Since I had told them in advance that we were going to get there late and leave early in the am and wouldn't be able to have breakfast, they left bagels with cream cheese and juice in our little fridge for us in the morning. Never had this service in a 5 star hotel. I greatly recommend Christopher Dodge House.

My friend and I stayed one night at the Christopher Dodge House for a concert at the Veterans Memorial Auditorium. The location of the inn is great for downtown Providence (within walking distance to the auditorium, mall, and train station). The staff at the inn was very friendly and accommodating. The decor and ambiance was also very old-fashioned and quaint. All in all our stay was very enjoyable and we will definitely choose the inn when we're in Providence again.
