Excellent stay at the hotel rooms were nicely decorated and clean. Breakfast was excellent. The rooftop lounge had an excellent view of the fireworks. Front desk was amazing! Abby helped us work out the only kink n our entire stay:) ) ty.

Thee best service views hotel rooms and longed as well as bars n historic Bldg also.

Immensely enjoyed our mixology class with Daniel…learned so much…we will be back 🥃!

Was leaving for vacation Friday, before leaving my wife and I tested ourselves for covid. I tested positive so we called to try and cancel reservations. They informed us that they were unable to do so and will continue to charge us the full amount for our room. We asked to move reservation and they said no they cannot change reservations but would be happy to help us make a new reservation and pay twice. Absolutely horrible staff and management. They would rather us come and bring covid to their guests. Would not recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to keep their family safe.

Had my wedding at the Viking, and it couldn’t have been any better! We love the staff, and the venue is just as beautiful as you can imagine.

Absolutely incompetent valet service at the hotel. We come to a wedding at the hotel, pay for the valet service and in a matter of a couple of hours they LOSE THE KEYS TO OUR CAR. No apologies, no problem solving solutions, nothing. We had to call AAA to break into our car to reach a spare set we happened to have. Staggering incompetence and absolutely ruined our evening. Management had no solutions and declined to help us we were on our own.

From the time you drive up to the time you leave, the service and care was evident throughout our stay. Very Clean, helpful and so welcoming! Happy 95th, Hotel Viking. We will be back!

Great place to stay or just has a drink at the bar or lounge. Elena was are bartender and she was wonderful.

I recommend going anywhere but here everything about this place It’s just horrible. They have no swimming pool the pool is semi-good the waiting Staff Are rude or just slow The worst place I’ve ever been never be back here again.

In a nutshell, we had a bad experience. I booked last minute and asked if there was on site parking because I didn’t want to valet because of COVID-19. I was told I had the option. Well, we didn’t and had to valet which is $15 a fay and really not safe during a pandemic. Our air conditioner didn’t work so Kevin moved our room. The room we were moved to had a wet box of tissues due to the sink linking and a foul smell to accompany it. We physically went to the front desk because they don’t answer phones, (between Monday & Wednesday) 5+ times asking for the sink to be fixed, a box of tissues and two extra pillows. We didn’t receive the tissues or the pillows until Wednesday. We were told on Wednesday morning our sink would be fixed by the time we got back from Block Island; it wasn’t! As we were showering Wed evening, a transformer blew and we loss power. We were told it would be back on in ‘2 minutes’… well. It wasn’t. Had to try and get ready for dinner with our phone flashlights. Spent two hours sitting outside while the GM was trying to figure out where to put us. He gave us a green glowstickAt midnight were were packing our room (my husband and two kids) to move and then the power came back on. We were give only $100 credit for the worse stay we ever had. I feel at least one night and parking should have been compensated. Most of the staff during our stay, with the exception of Kevin, Christine, & Shaun, were unfriendly and rude. Rooms are very noisy.

Very nice rooftop! The staff was friendly and the drinks were good. Some of the tables have a fireplace… nice atmosphere!

The staff at the Viking treated us like royalty from the time we arrived until the time we left! It was just dinner but it was the most attentive I have ever seen a group of people serving others. We ate outside and then went up to Rooftop and were announced by the downstairs staff before we even got up there! The food and drinks were Excellent! The servers and staff, every single one of them, were a delight! It was a lovely evening. No craziness like downtown 5 Stars from me!

I stayed there from November 25, 2019 till December 29, 2019 for work and I had a great time. From the room service to the concierge, great team and people.

Love the space, but valet needs to be more polite and help with bags. Had to cart my own belongings! Front desk saw me struggle and didn’t bother helping. Bar staff and restaurant is amazing!

Beautiful hotel! The only negatives for us were, paying extra for a room with a fireplace only to find out it's not a real fireplace. Also, they charge about $75 more than the actual cost of the Champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. We looked up the average cost of the Champagne… it was $5.99. Bring your own. It will be better quality and you will get your money's worth.

Paid online in full prior to check in, took my credit card for incidental charges and whacked it for $100, ok then 2am on day of check out wacked me for another $104. Questioned the charges was told they made a mistake and should have only been charged $54. Was give an itemized bill confirming this total charge.
Tomorrow I’ll call credit card company to dispute!

Everything was wonderful. We really enjoyed our stay. The room was quite large. The bathroom was a bit small but we didn’t care. The bed was most comfortable. Highly recommend.

I am NEVER EVER going to stay at this hotel EVER AGAIN! Room was outrageously priced for what it consisted of. The TVs were dusty. The bathroom was dirty. The mini bar wasn't stocked nor was it included with the room. And charged for the mini bar even though we did not use it! I was there for a bachelorette. The price for what the room was was outrageous. Valet was not included. We asked for extra sheets and pillows. Took roomservice over 5 hours to get sheets and pillows to our room. We asked for extra toilet paper… never got it ended up using the tissues. I cut my foot on glass in the hallway while I was going to get ice! When calling the hotel I've been put on hold multiple times over 25 minutes. The excuse I get it its busy and slammed… I don't care deal with issues first come first basis. Dont leave someone on a "breif" hold for 25 minutes. Do not stay here never stay here. I feel like I was victimized because we were a group of younger adults and did not flash our money around.

5 stars This is a gorgeous historic hotel with lots of atmosphere, friendly staff and amazing food. I enjoyed a fabulous breakfast out on the beautiful patio and then later that night had wine and oysters while I listened to some really good live music and watched the sun go down from the rooftop bar Top of Newport.

We went to the rooftop bar for a few drinks. The service was atrocious. We had to wait close to 30 minutes from the time we ordered to get a drink. The second round of drinks finally arrived and my $12 drink was now in a glass half the size as the first. The waitress, who struggled to speak English, said they ‘ran out of glasses’. It went downhill from there. There was no manager around, the bar staff was rude and it turned into a horrible experience. Don’t waste your time or money. I don’t care how much they promote themselves; service is crappy and there is no one on staff that even tries to accommodate customers.

Great atmosphere and vibe, friendly staff, great location.

Terrible service and utter incompetency. Our room wasn’t made up in our entire stay, despite promises it would be. Couldn’t get housekeeping or the front desk on the phone and had to go down to the desk every day to beg for towels and toilet paper. The wait person in the restaurant took our order wearing earbuds and then messed up our order twice. Even the car valet was rude. Maybe we were there on bad days, but we were paying too much for this lack of hospitality.

We enjoyed our stay! Felt very comfortable with our kids. Loved the dinner we had in the hotel! Loved the coffee bar in the morning! Definitely recommend!

Loved the property, location and the service. However our bathroom was the smallest I have ever been in! You could seriously wash your hand (and I mean hand, because the sink was so small I could not wash both hands at the same time) while sitting on the toilet. When I commented to the front desk about this, it was suggested I ask for a room with a bigger bathroom next time! How would I know to do this my first time staying here and who would expect a resort like this to have such small bathrooms! The Marriott is right down the street for the next time!

The lobby is beautiful a service is quick. Valet attendants were very efficient. The only thing is the roof Top, the drinks were very good but, when we paid we got up and left and the bartender ca. E running after us saying we didn't pay enough. We did and included tip but I guess he thought the tip wasn't enough. My friend and I gave e! tra money. We were both alittle frazzled. When we stop off to another place we reviewed the situation and found out that he wanted more of a tip. That to me was alittle unprofessional.

What a wonderful hotel! It was in the perfect location with an awesome rooftop bar/restaurant. I would like to give a big shout out to our wonderful waitress Hyechong. She was an absolute pleasure and recommended us to so many amazing places while being out in Newport. I will definitely be back to stay!

Came here for a morning after brunch following a wedding. The food was delicious and the staff were friendly. Valet parking right at the hotel so that was easy. The brunch was in an open air courtyard that was beautiful.

This has to be one of the most elegant hotels in Newport! It is truly spectacular inside and out! Hotel Viking is located right in the heart of the town so it is within close proximity of the main attractions. They even offer a private shuttle which is awesome since the weather was quite poor one day. The valet staff and front desk staff were extremely friendly and helpful as well. Some of the best I've seen! Our room was clean, cozy and welcoming. We really enjoyed the rooftop bar with live music and a refreshing sea breeze which made for a relaxing environment. There is also a quaint courtyard with 2 gas firepits and some seating. My only minor complaint is that the bed and pillows were not very supportive. The bathroom door did not fully close either. My major complaint is that many of the guests were making a raucous in the halls well into the night until 1am! I could not fall asleep and was very frustrated. That is just downright disrespectful considering the fact that the hotel has a sign advising its guests to quiet down from 10pm-6am. Other than that, I would highly recommend Hotel Viking to anyone visiting Newport. It is a gorgeous place!

Came here with 1 friends. We stayed for 3 days and loved every minute! The staff is exceptional from front desk to the entire valet staff and Michelle in dining room goes above and beyond! They offer a free shuttle service to local attractions and are so accommodating. Would definitely recommend this hotel!

This hotel was comfortable and stylish, but left some things to be desired. Our bathroom was so small that I literally could not wash my face in the sink. And the front desk staff left us hanging a couple times when we needed assistance in our room — they never sent someone up to fix our TV and the bellhop that was supposed to bring our bags down to the lobby for checkout never showed up. We enjoyed our stay, but these details could make all the difference! Oh — and the pricing for overnight parking is highway robbery. It's actually insane.

When we pulled up we were greeted by very friendly valet drivers and I was blown away by how beautiful the flower arrangements were in front. The lobby is very open and bright and smelled wonderful. We decided to stay an extra night after coming from another hotel and were able to check in the same day quickly and seamlessly. We booked a King room. The only reason I did not give the hotel a perfect five stars was because I feel for the price point the rooms could use some updates. While it was clean and comfortable, it was definitely dated. I booked a massage at the spa and it was very relaxing and the atmosphere was great. I really enjoyed the access to the beach cruiser bicycles. Overall a wonderful experience with great customer service. If the rooms were updated I would give it a perfect 5 stars. We would return.

I wish I had the reviews before staying here. My fault. The place is awful. Asked for a nicer room but nothing better! There has to be other places in Newport.

Stayes for 2 nights and our room was directly across from construction, which we were never informed of upon check in. 8am and they were cutting metal studs with a power saw. Not what you want to hear on a vacation. The rooms are very small and many of the bar snacks were expired. Parking in $40 per day and there are no other option beside valet. They also add a $25 per night "resort" fee on top of the already high cost of the room. I will never spend the extra money on this hotel on my next trip to Newport.

James the bartender is literally the most attentive, friendly bartender I’ve come across on the island! Last time I was here it took me over 15 minutes to even be acknowledged! I was not unattended for more than a few minutes and the espresso martini was the best I have had on the island! Kudos on such a personable employee!

After having a delicious lunch at One Bellevue with a very gracious host I noticed the sign for the Spa. I asked the front receptionist if I could check availability for two massages, she directed me to dial for the receptionist at the Spa and gave me an informational packet. The parking attendant noticed me as I was waiting and offered to escort me to the Spa. Once I entered the Spa, the excellent customer service ended. The receptionist behind the counter was on the phone making a reservation. I waited to the side as to give her space and time to complete the reservation. My friend browsed the candles and products on the shelves and we both took a seat to wait until she was done. She ended the call and began to type on the computer. We waited further for her to acknowledge our presence and nothing. I stood up and walked towards the counter and waited for her to look up and make eye contact. She never looked up and did not acknowledge us. We ended up walking out. I can understand being busy, I cannot understand how difficult it would have been to say good afternoon, I will be with you in a moment. Ignoring potential customers is not what I would imagine the Viking Hotel policy and guidelines to be. Very disappointed in the service for such an upscale spa. I gave one star for a great lunch!

The Staff at the Viking is Fantastic. No mater what they are there to help. Upon check in they asked are you here for any particular reason & we said Yes it's my wife's Birthday & our 25th Wedding Anniversary. They said how nice it was that we were staying with them to celebrate. We had been there for the same reasons in the past & know how Great it was. We retired to our room & not long after a Staff member knocked & delivered a Wonderful Bottle of Champion a Great selection of Really Fine Chocolates. What a Surprise & very much appreciated. We Dined at 1 Bellevue the Hotel Restaurant & The Food was Fantastic also to help celebrate or special occasion the gave us Free Dessert. It's not that it was Free or that it was Amazing but that they Cared enough to do so. It's why we go back & will continue to do so. Great Location Great Rooms & the Best Staff anywhere.

Read the fine print on your website when booking. There is an extra $25 "resort fee" for the following: Pool access Beach towels Health club access Fitness center access Internet access Newspaper Phone calls In-room safe In-room coffee Are you kidding me? A $25 fee to use the phone or the pool? What an insult to guests. Unfortunately I did not see that fee when I was booking the room, I only saw it when I was checking out. Here is what my "resort fee" did get me: A sweltering room so uncomfortable we had to turn on the AC (in March) Windows that don't open Tiny bathroom with peeling paint and rust stains in the shower and toilet. Squeaky beds with springs you can feel through the lousy mattress. A loud buzz from the mini fridge. Paper thin walls, I could hear everything. Sheets so stiff and starched I could wrap my sub sandwich in them. A hot tub in the pool area that smelled like something was fermenting. Stains of? on the pool ceiling. Pool furniture so filthy and stained it looked like they rented it from a frat house. Changing rooms in the pool area with small fiberglass showers that dribbled lukewarm water. Sink faucets that were not completely attached to the sink so the entire fixture moved when turning them on. Oh, I forgot! Renovations near our room: One working elevator covered in dust and debris. Filthy carpets in the halls, poor air quality, paint vapor… so relaxing! Here is the best part.

Staying here as part of a conference/ certification course. Very centrally located with easy walking distance. The off season prices are a great deal. My room is tiny and the mini fridges are first come, first served. The lobby is nice and the rooms are clean. The fitness center could be expanded and the pool needs a few updates. I'm sure it's a more impressive place in the peak season. Our bartender, Al, was great and the valet, CJ is super speedy!

I stayed here a few years ago through priceline name your price and paid $100 for a beautiful room. I recently heard that you get better rooms when you book directly through their website so I did thinking I was going to get a room similar to what I had last time, it I was extremely disappointed. Upon arrival to the room, the door was open. The light switch didn't work because the lights weren't plugged in. The room was small, and the bathroom was tiny. My closet is bigger. I'm just extremely disappointed and probably will not stay here again.

Set on the historic Bellevue avenue in the Hill neighborhood of Newport, this is a magnificent hotel reminiscent of the flamboyance of the early 1900s. A mix of stunning architecture and modern convenience makes the hotel viking a perfect destination whether you are visiting as a family or on business. I stayed for 2 nights with a group of 14 colleagues and we all had a wonderful experience. Service is excellent and included nice to haves like valet parking & chauffeur service to local restaurants and sites.

Very cute boutique hotel. Rooms we not bad, if a bit small. The hotel bar was fun with live music on Saturday night. Restaurant was also not bad (if a bit abandoned) in the cold winter months. Convenient location for walking to nearby shops and eating spots.

The staff were all very helpful and attentive. The valet was outstanding, they always asked if we needed help or directions. The bathroom was very small and the set up was odd. You can hear everything above you and in the hallway. The location is great it's within walking distance to many places. You do have to pay daily for parking which I think should be included since we're paying so much to stay there.

Great location close to the Mansions and shopping. Room was pretty small but you get what you paid for. The hot cocoa downstairs was a very nice touch and all the staff were very nice and accommodating.

This hotel is full of the gilded age splendor folks visit Newport for. You have to look around corners and hallways to find trinkets of days gone by. The rooms are decked in vintage albeit replicas of days gone by furniture including desks, chairs and beds. The cost while a little high is comparable to newer more contemporary hotels. If you want that antique style getaway and feel like a baron or baroness this is the place to stay.

Elegant hotel within walking distance of a lively part of this historic city, with quality service from a well-trained and highly professional staff. We were there with family for a major anniversary so we sprung for a suite and a package that gave us free parking, free b'fast buffet, and free passes to the mansions. Newport is a 'users' city — it pays to get up, go out and use what the city has to offer, and this hotel is well situated to provide a base of operations, what with a centralized location plus in & out parking as needed. And an indoor pool w/hot tub open well into the evening, towels provided. From the hotel walk to stores, eateries, the wharf, etc. Or drive from the front of the building to the mansions that are so easy to find that even I couldn't get lost. One crab — I normally love steam table scrambled eggs but these were on the well-done side. Could have been more moist.

Checking in on a Sunday night, we could hardly hear the front desk clerk because the noise from the bar room was just too much. We got a room way in the back and got a little lost trying to make our way back to the lobby. The valet attendant was nice but I hate having my car driven by anyone else, especially for a fee. Early morning we could clearly hear the coffee maker in the next room and the room alarm clock went off at 5am. The room was mostly clean, but there was candy under one of the beds from a previous occupant. The hotel was close to where we wanted to be and was acceptable for a one night stay.

Less than impressed with the rooftop bar. The valet parking was 100%! I had really high expectations for the rooftop but they were not met. Charge me $15 for a drink, then at least use a top shelf whiskey and a luxardo cherry. And please fix the spotlight that flickers on and off. I was there for spirits and stogies but the food was cold when it was supposed to be hot. I will most likely not attend a rooftop event again.

The hotel has an "old Newport" feel to it. The staff was pleasant. The room was ok. The bathroom, not so much… The tile in the shower was disgusting and falling off because of water damage. The ceiling shows significant signs of water damage from the bathroom above. The tub floor felt like it was separating from its self. The a. C. Vent looked like it hasn't been cleaned. You could hear every noise from the room above and to the sides. The hallways had a strange odor. The pool area had what appeared to be old carpeting around it. The carpet edging was missing in a lot of places. The tile in the hot tub area was disgusting and looked unfinished. The only decent area of the building was the spa. For the cost of a weekend stay I expected something at least maintained a little better. I don't think I'd stay there again.

Very nice and clean hotel. Our room (3060) was nicely appointed. Staff was knowledgeable and always helpful. Dinner was very enjoyable and tasty at the restaurant. Only complaint: The hotel isn't all too concerned with water conservation … no water saver shower head, and no aerator on the sink faucet!

Went to rooftop bar only, 3pm, 1 hour after it opened. Not impressed. Was expecting something nice to bring visiting family. It was very sunny and hot. My elderly aunts, my Mom and I were sweaty, starving and thirsty. There were lots of open tables with umbrellas for shade — — but they were all "reserved". It felt like an imposition to ask for an umbrella as it was not offered. The waiter obliged us an umbrella and we were all set to order. Of the relatively small menu — they were out of half of our parties preferences. As we toasted to our day (with paper Pepsi cups) we decided to find another place. I realize its outside but seriously, paper cups — not even a decent plastic? Not at all what I expected from the advertising and the hotels fancy reputation. We walked to the Black Pearl and had a better experience. I am embarrassed that I brought out of towners here — never again. A thrown together rooftop bar that lacks the expected ambiance — don't fall for it. The view wasn't the greatest either.

This is such a beautiful hotel. See if the 4th floor outdoor bar is open, or if there is a fire pit going in the courtyard. Friendly, helpful staff, comfy beds. Only problem I ever have here is that they always put only decaf coffee in the rooms.

Excellent rooms. Comfortable and spacious. The bar on the roof was great. Quality drinks and an excellent view over the town and ocean.

For an old and historic hotel, it certainly carries the feel of luxury. However, that doesn't come without a price. Located in Newport it doesn't come as a complete surprise, but basic commodities, such as parking, you are charged heavily for. The room comes with 'complementary' water, but if you even crack the seal on the bottles you're charged for it at checkout ($6 per 16 oz bottle). Our room was small, and just large enough for our hotel bed. In summary, it is a very nice hotel, but you are charged for so much besides your room it takes some of the fun away.

Just spent almost four days and three nights at Hotel Viking. All I can say is that everything was excellent. From the valet (very friendly and courteous) to the front desk (again very courteous and friendly) to the beautiful room (elegantly furnished — — bathroom fan could be replaced, very noisy, I just turned it off) superb toiletries, even though we were a group of about 40 and had buffet meals, they were all superb and well staffed. Absolutely no complaints whatsoever. Feels like a European Boutique Hotel … can't wait to go back! Thanks to everyone!

I love the area beautiful and quaint. The rooms are a bit small but good for two to three people. And the area is reminiscent of Solvang, CA.

Renovated and chic. But still had that Newport Charm. New owners are savvy and clearly dedicated to hiring some of Newport's best customer service professionals.

Great room. Period decor. Fireplace did not work. Short walk to shops and food. Charged my card for two waters wheb we did not have them.

The hotel has been amazing. The staff have all been so nice and helpful and any service we request has been quickly taken care of. The rooms and facilities are beautiful. We have had a wonderful stay.

Attended a private function catered by the hotel. There was an incident regarding a food allergy and the host of the event needed to leave via stretcher. During the planning of the event we were assured several times that the food would be accommodating to allergy needs. The decor was nice but I would not attend any function here again.

The service was phenomenal — my highest marks to Jordan, Jackson and Michael who were helpful, friendly and gave me great advice for activities in the area. Same for Sabrina behind the desk who also told us about vegan options in the neighborhood. I would have rated 5 on service alone, but I did not like that the pool smelled like feet, the Jacuzzi was more of a hot tub (no bubbles) the sauna you must reserve a spot for ahead of time ($20), the steam room was not working (closed) and the person behind desk at the spa was more worried about texting than being helpful. All that being said, the hotel is a 5 min walk from all the action and you go to Rhode Island for outside activities…

The hotel is gorgeous, rooms are beautiful. But. We had a function there and the servers kept taking away drinks that hadn't been finished.

The rooms were very nice although ours smelled a bit musty. The bathroom wasn't exactly clean but it was clean enough. The design in the bathroom was elegant but at the cost of functionality in regards to the sink. The position of the faucet was such that your hands came in contact with the sink in order to wash them. It sounds trivial but it can cause hygiene issues.

We were here on the 12/29/13 for 2 nights. We could not get the heating to go above 68 which in a normal building would be fine, but this is an old historic building with no insulation, so our rooms were really cold. They need to refurbish the interior as well, new carpets and new reupholstering of the furniture would be a great addition.

The hotel is awesome. Its about an 8 minute walk to the warf. I recommend the hotel and highly DISCOURAGE you from using their spa. The massage I received was supposed to be deep tissue. Despite many reminders to the massage therapist, I still received a light therapeutic massage. The massage was AWFUL and overpriced. My husband felt the same about his massage therapist.

My room was dirty when I arrived; there were pistachio shells on the floor and a dirty wash cloth hanging in the shower. However, my bed was clean and I was exhausted so I didn't make a big stink about it. Unfortunately, after I checked out, they charged me for food that I didn't eat that was apparently missing from the room when I checked out. I suspect that my room hadn't been properly inspected before I checked in (at 6pm at night — plenty late enough in the day for a proper cleaning to have happened) and that I got charged for someone else's consumption. The hotel wouldn't rebate me at all for either the food or for the dirtiness.
