Homeless Relief Project The current temp is 24° and falling. Staff at the Regency Hotel on High Street put a Homeless man who shows signs of Intellectual Disability out for being homeless. Every other hotel was booked. I paid for the room. Staff watched the individual take everything he owns to his room 2 pieces at a time. When I left to pick up another individual I was told he had to leave. The owners told me to my face he had to leave because he stinks. He was in his room not bothering anyone. I told the lady she is discriminating on him because he is homeless, she said "no its because he stinks ". I told the staff my organization will bring cleaning supplies and detergent for him to wash his clothes. But that wasn't good enough. I said ma'am someone died last night sleeping in their car trying to stay warm, do you want that on your conscience. Her response was "what about our other guest? " There were only 3 cars in the parking lot! How can they say the individual stinks when the hotel itself stinks and is dirty. It took me 30 min to convince him to come with me off the streets due to the weather. It pissed me off to see the disappointment on his face when I told him he had to leave. He asked me why and I didn't want to tell him start staff said so I told him we found something better. This is all happened in front of the other homeless individual we were trying to help.
