The two rooms we had were horrible. Holes in the walls, dirty carpets, stickers on the wall for room numbers, ripped furniture, etc etc. What is advertised online is not what you get. For the price of 300.00+ a night I expected more than a run down interior. I felt I was in an hourly rate motel in an inner city project you see on television.

Went to a birthday party and the staff was great.

We had a great stay here. The location is perfect. We could easily walk to all the places we wanted to go. The room was very clean. Air conditioning worked great. The beds and pillows were actually comfortable. It was great to have a parking lot and not have to worry about finding a spot to leave the car.

Waitress was running trying to keep up with all the orders but remained pleasant and did her best. We had a Rehearsal Dinner in the Compass Room.
Wait staff were wonderful. Worked very hard to ensure we had everything we wanted or needed. “Sharky” our bartender was super, friendly, efficient and just plain nice to be around. The Buffet was excellent, good quality food and plenty of it. Highly recommend Thanks to you all for taking such good care of us!

It is not on the waterfront. Decor tired and dated. Front desk staff not too helpful… being English we asked for teabags and were given 2 … 1 cup of tea each went out and bought our own tea bags.

No valet, but front desk staff helped out. Fast check in. King suite Room was spacious with separate bedroom 10x10 and close able door to living room/dining:kitchenette. 10 x20.
Downside. 1 Bathroom adjacent to front entry hall made for twenty paces walk from bed to it.

I work in hospitality and always recommend the Salem Waterfront Hotel to friends and family. The hotel does everything well and is exceptionally clean and well maintained. The rooms are the best in Salem and the food and drink in the Regatta is always good.
Like that it is locally owned and managed. I have attended events and a wedding at the hotel and all were awesome.

We came down for. Our 1year anniversary and. Best hotel ever friendly staff and service and the restaurant was amazing we will definitely come back we left today and we miss it already. See you guys soon.

The last three times I’ve gone to Salem, I’ve stayed at the Salem Waterfront Hotel and Suites. I love the atmosphere there. Staff are very welcoming, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable about the area. We had received numerous recommendations and everyone of them were great. Whether it was which tours to go on or where to eat, these staff members will steer you right. While I was there this past week, I forgot a priceless set of earrings in the room by accident. The customer service agent, sorry I forgot your name, was amazing. She followed up with all staff and called me to tell me that they found my earrings. I couldn’t believe it! I was devastated believing they we’re gone and now I am so elated! I can’t thank her enough! I would recommend this place to anyone.

Service was very satisfactory. Seated quickly and our waitress was very friendly and efficient. Food was tasty and the prices are better than I anticipated.
As far as the rooms, We have been staying every September since it was built and we have never had any problems or complaints. Love this place.

I absolutely loved my stay here! Highly recommend to anyone coming in town for tourism or maritime activities! It's close to the waterfront (obviously, the name) and the Pickering Wharf, which has tons of shops and restaurants! Hotel room was clean and spacious, and staff was welcoming and knowledgable about the surrounding areas! Will stay here again!

The hotel staff is outstanding. Rooms are decent size. Very close to but not on the water and can not see the water from the hotel. Perhaps some of the rooms on upper floors in the back of the hotel might. Walls are super thin and can hear the people in room next door very well.
Hotel is fairly dated. Carpet is loose and pulled up in the halls. In the end, it is the only hotel by the warf inSalem and I would stay here again for the convenience.

I only stayed one night. Everyone I spoke to was very friendly. My room was very clean and comfortable. Bedding was above average and very very comfy. Location cannot be beat.

Loved this hotel. This was my first visit to Salem and I loved the area! The hotel sits right on the waterfront and offers great views.

This would've been a 3 or 4 star rating if not for the way we were swindled for an extra $1050 with no explanation. Here we go… The pros: The hotel is within walking distance of everything, the front desk staff was excellent and helpful, and I found the rooms clean. My daughter loved the pool, and I was very comfortable here. Overall, pleasant experience. The cons: There is no refrigerator in the rooms, nor any drink vending machines in the building, which isn't a huge problem but I would think these perks are easy enough to install and really worth it. Also, housekeeping never serviced our room until 3:30 — 4 in the afternoon. I've stayed in dozens of hotels, and I'm from Vegas, a city whose level of service is its bread and butter, and I've never had my room cleaned so late in the day. I leave by 9 am and stay gone most of the day to allow them to do their thing. I like coming back to a tidied room, made bed, and fresh towels later in the afternoon, so I can relax, clean up, and shower before dinner without worrying about housekeeping walking in on me. I think that's understandable. Now, again, not a huge problem. Just a slight aggravation. The biggest problem came after we left and found an extra $1050 charge on our credit card. My 9 year old bought a quill and ink souvenir in Salem, and unfortunately dropped some drops on the chair. It's ink. I understand it might be permanent and fully expected a cleaning fee.

As soon as I stepped in the room it smelled very bad. I went to the lobby and asked that they please send housekeeping to the room. I didn’t feel that I wanted to make a scene, and don’t like being difficult. I left went out for a walk around town, came back and it still smelled. I went back to the front desk and let them know, at that point Brian apologized, and said he would have “the boss and housekeeping” look into that. I thanked him and left for dinner. Upon return it still smelled. I let Brian know via telephone, then I went downstairs and let him know that I was tired, and my feet hurt. I told him that I was going to leave to go to the store to purchase an air freshener. When I returned I asked that a manager follow up with me. The next morning, no phone call via cell or on the phone in the room. When I was leaving I asked if the manager was available, I was told he wasn’t. I went about my day, when I came back to the hotel I asked to speak with the manager. It’s now 5 PM… guess who walks out? Brian! Who did not indicate last night that he WAS the manager. I asked if he was the manager — he said yes. I asked him if he was the manager why did he let me leave here to get an air freshener? He said “you left on you own accord”. I explained that I have stayed in 1 star hotels up to 5 stars, I have NEVER needed to leave to get air freshener for a stinky room ever. He was very uninterested in my complaint.

Very nice hotel right on the waterfront. We stayed over the 4th of July holiday. Nice clean room. No view of the waterfront for us, but it was still a nice room. One minor criticism is the lack of accessible outlets for charging phones etc. Nothing on the desk at all. The restaurant on site, The Regatta, was decent for lunch, though nothing special. The hotel is in a central location to a lot of attractions. We would definitely stay here if in Salem again.

Food was delicious, service was attentive… the outside patio area is nice but it's in a parking lot so even though you are really close to water, there isn't a view. Still though, the food was pretty good with a solid portion of lobster meat.

Meals have been perfect here always. Never a problem never bad food. The servers are very attentive and pleasant.

The minute you walked in you knew this was a quality place. Rooms were spacious, workers were great. The experience was great. Parking is tough to get but so close to everything its fine to walk.

Very nice place, used to be a housekeeper so my experience I'd call it done well enough for cleaning. Staff friendly though place as a whole very nice, great location short walk to all our touristy needs for shopping and food would definitely go back for that reason alone.

This a beautiful, meticulously clean hotel. My stay there was the best. I highly recommend staying here when visiting Salem. The staff and atmosphere are top notch. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would!

We stayed at this hotel for one night in a suite. The pictures of the rooms on their website and the actual rooms are not comparable. Wallpaper was peeling, room was dark, and dingy. Upon returning home we noticed our card had been charged an additional $250. When I called to inquire about the charge I was told it was for a deep cleaning fee due to smoking in the room, that's funny, because we don't smoke. After going back and forth to no avail and the charge still being upheld I came to write a review only to find that this charge is common practice at this specific hotel. Needless to say we will not be staying at this hotel again, nor will we be recommending it to anyone.

The furniture in the room is kinda run down. The heat never kicks off so you either have it on and it's blazing hot or you just have to turn it off. Vending machine for snacks but no vending for drinks, you can get them at the bar or room service only till 10. Parking is free so that's a plus. The toiletries are good quality and smell amazing.

A bit-nicer-than-basic chain hotel in a fantastic location. If you have kids, stay here instead of the nicer custom places nearby, because these don't have A HEATED POOL! Why didn't they build a hot tub too…?

Completely enjoyable experience. The staff is friendly and attentive. We enjoyed the hotel and it's amenities, including many delicious meals at The Regatta Pub, located in the hotel. Our room was very comfortable, with plenty of room for two. The front desk and housekeeping services were excellent. Everyone friendly and helpful. Will be back for another visit.

I enjoyed my experience overall, but the staff gave the impression they were rushed and busy. I never had a Bloody Mary before and the waitress just gave me a glass of vodka and told me to serve myself. That was part of the special that day, but the waitress just rushed away without a chance for a question. The food was pretty good, but not what I'd expect from a hotel's quality of food. The portions were large though. The prices were definitely a little more than what I would've expected. And being in Salem, I expected more seasonal options than there were. Again, I wasn't completely disappointed, but I'd say it was no better than average for the meal.

It was in the middle of everything, sharp appearance. But the room wasn't clean when we got in so that was disappointing. The bathroom had some mold in grout, hair balls on carpet, and one sheet had a stain on it. They do have their own parking, that is a plus because you can park there and just walk around. Also it was nice they had pool there.

We have stayed here once a year for the last 5+ years and it is always an excellent experience! The hotel itself is beautiful with great amenities and within walking distance to all of what downtown Salem has to offer. Can not wait to return next year!

My husband and I stayed here for one evening traveling back to Pennsylvania from Maine. The front desk staff and manager that day were very kind and accommodating. I was happy to see a restaurant on site as we had arrived around dinner. We did not have a very good experience with service in the dining area for dinner or for breakfast the next morning. The wait staff was not attentive, as we had to ask them to come to us more than once. For a hotel that seems to have a number of weddings, I think this is a problem. The food however was good, except for the clam chowder which was devoid of clams or potatoes. If I were ever to be in Salem again, I would find a different Hotel.

Polite staff. Luxurious accommodation. Excellent price for what you get. Pool is heated and not over chlorinated. They give a parking pass.

The hotel was beautiful and in a great location but we had an air conditioner that didn't work the person at the desk was rude and we had a guy trying to fix it and then install a portable one in the room for two hours they did offer us another room but my 79 year old mother and 81 year old aunt were already in bed and in their pajamas when this happened. We decided that we were not staying another night so they let us have the privilege of leaving early without the penalty of the fee to check out early. This is a wanna be luxury hotel without a lot of the amenities that a hotel that cost less has. They gave us 40 dollars off our bill but we're so rude about it I would never recommend staying here!

Stayed Wednesday through Sunday. At first, was good, except whole stay our ac was NOT working well. Friday and Saturday were horrible! Group of guests were very inconsiderate of everyone else staying. Standing in hallway loudly talking, slamming doors, shaking walls and yelling… This all happened at 11:30pm till 3:45 am. Called and complained but did not stop it… Will definetly not stay again. For the amount of money paid, expected much more relaxing, comfortable and quiet place. Extremely dissapointed!

Love love love this Hotel. My husband and I stayed here for about 5 nights in late 2014. The staff were so very friendly. Room was lovely and the bar served yummy food and drinks. I would stay again any time.

My Wife and I got married at the Salem Waterfront Hotel August 12, 2017, and everything was just perfect. We started planning two years in advance and had the pleasure to work with Robyn, Caitlyn, and Rose; all three wedding specialist are great, experienced and professional. Rose took over as our coordinator, she put our minds at ease even after last minute changes and she made sure everything went exactly as planned for our big day, definitely went above and beyond. We loved the food, and we still getting great compliments from some of our guests about it, specially the passed hors d’oeuvres during cocktail hour. The Platinum Package was priced reasonably, and the hotel was very flexible some requests we had for our big day, specially Linda who also went above and beyond to make sure we did not have to worry about anything and enjoy our wedding day. Bridal suite was spectacular specially after turn down service ;-) The entire staff at the hotel was great and we highly recommend this for a wedding venue or any other special event.

Many of the necessary Salem sights are within an easy walk. Rooms were comfortable and clean. Staff was welcoming and very polite.

Beautiful hotel. It smelled wonderful as soon as you walked in. Rooms were large and had refrigerator and microwave. Right on the water & easy access to local sites. Pool is lovely & staff are professional. We'd highly recommend.

The town, and location were great. But the staff was not very good. I was sharing a suite and had called the hotel many times to tell that I was running late and to allow the other guests to check into my room. But the hotel never answered my phone, nor did they call me back (despite the voice mail greeting saying that I would be contacted within 15 mins). This caused a big issue when the other guests arrived, and they were treated like trespassers and weren't allowed into the hotel room. We also requested room service, with extra towels and cups. We received the towels and cups, but no room service was ever done. When I called to ask why nobody had cleaned the room, I was told 'you only requested extra towels and cups, and no cleaning'. Why would I do that? And I made the request, why are you telling me that I asked for something different? There was also construction going on at the building across the street. While this is obviously not the fault of the hotel, it still made me angry that I was woken up at 8am on a Saturday by loud banging when someone was putting up new siding on a building across the street.

This is a decent hotel. However, the servicing of our room before we checked in was not done properly. There was what seemed to be lots of small hairs on the floor of the bathroom. In addition, the same hair plus crumbs was in one of our two queen size beds. Finally, they hadn't provided any bar or body wash soap. On the plus side, the room overall was nice and they allowed you to use a loaner iPad. The Regatta restaurant was decent. We ate there for dinner and breakfast. We would give them another try before writing this hotel off. The hotel is very well situated to most of the sites that you would want to see. They are easy walking distance.

Perfect location for enjoying Salem, next door to quaint shops and good restaurants. Rooms are spacious, nicely decorated and very clean and comfortable. We also recommend spa treatments at Andrew Michael's Spa and Salon, in Salem a few miles from the hotel.

Stayed here for (2) nights during a recent trip for a wedding. Room was spacious and clean — The bathroom did show a little age but nothing that ruined the visual appeal. For some reason the heat in the room would just not work and it was in the 20's outside which made for a pretty cold room. The bed was very firm and the mattress was not "plush". Lobby was nice and the bar was nice to meet friends and have a drink. Centrally located giving the ability to walk to local restaurants and pubs.

Over all the stay was great. Comfortable accommodations and a very friendly staff. Amenities are fantastic and very close to the sites youll want to see. The only negative is there really isn't much of a waterfront. Yes the hotel property sits adjacent to a small marina but it's across the parking lot from the building and only a hand full of rooms actually can see water. The rest are on an alley or looking over the parking lot at a Bank.

I had my wedding here two weeks ago and everything was amazing. Our coordinator, Caitlyn, went above and beyond in every way to make our day exactly what we wanted. I highly recommend her for any event! The food was to die for and the banquet manager, Wayne, (as well as the servers) made sure everything ran smoothly throughout the night. I don't remember the name of the front desk manager I spoke to, but she was fantastic as well. She didn't keep anyone waiting to check in and helped me make some last minute room adjustments!
