My highest recommendation is for the food! Had several breakfasts and dinners and they were excellent. Extra good wok salmon and bacon wrapped scallops.

We attended a wedding that was absolutely stunning! The staff was wonderful, the grounds were beautiful and the food was exceptional!

We only stayed one night. The rooms are spacious and well appointed and the grounds are small and beautiful!
The best however was the two young people at the Restaurnt reception desk…Shawn and I forget the young lady’s name.
They did all they could to help me as I had car trouble. From allowing me to be in their land line phone for the longest time; to checking the internet and trying to get any mechanic to help.

Beautiful Place. I would recommend the Dan'l Webster Inn & Spa. The Staff Is Very Friendly And Helpful. The Food Is Always Delicious. Rooms Are Lovely And Spacious. Absolutely recommend this place! We went to celebrate our anniversary dinner last night and it was absolutely amazing to say the least! I'm typically known to be quite fussy about food but this was outstanding. I had the short ribs and my husband had the prime rib and both were delicious. Not to mention they made killer mojitos. It was our first time there and definitely will go back soon. Hopefully stay over next time so we can enjoy all the other amenities. Also a shout out to the staff they're all very pleasant and professional.

Our stay started off well (and the only reason it's getting two stars instead of one). We originally booked the cheapest room but once we saw how tiny it was asked to be upgraded. The receptionist was very nice and said she could put us in a Jarves suite for only $100 more, which according to her was a great deal. The room was nice, but would never have paid full price for it. The main window in the room looks out into a hallway and while the bed was nice and big the TV was small and the bathroom was dated. And the "balcony" could barely hold two people. Anyways, a rainstorm rolled in that night and the power shut off around 1am, which would've been fine but a bright emergency light came on in the room and the air conditioner shut off. So for 2 hours it was too bright and too hot to sleep. Finally it came back on, only for the fire alarm to go off at 5am. So we head outside in the pouring rain, little kids in pjs all around us. Once the firemen said it was just a faulty fire alarm NO ONE from the hotel was even present to apologize. Even as we checked-out this morning the receptionist didn't say anything about the night until we started talking about it. She blamed the storm, and announced what we owed. We were shocked that she didn't offer anything in the way of compensation for the horrific night we just endured. After we pointed this out she spoke with the manager Ken, who never came out himself to say anything to us, and said they'd give us $50 off. That's it.

The Inn is very comfortable with great suites with beautiful decor. Peaceful and relaxing. Our breakfasts have been excellent. Had dinner one night and the filet and the cod were delicious. Service has been very good. Thanks.

We stayed at this hotel in July 2019. It is a charming place that takes you back in time. The service provided by all employees was impressive. That is hard to find these days. They were polite, friendly, and super helpful. The room was impeccable, elegant, and it had beautiful American colonial furniture, but yet, it was remodeled to give you all the current comforts such as flat screen tv's, Wi-Fi, and updated bathrooms. The bed was so comfy that we slept so well every night we stayed there. The room had fluffy pillows, and high quality soft sheets. The pool area is gorgeous with beautiful landscaping and flowers everywhere. It reminded us of an English garden with trellis, lights, benches, and bird baths. The charming rooms and grounds are what makes this place special. We ate breakfast and dinner in their restaurant and the food was excellent. For breakfast we had eggs, potatoes, bacon, and french toast. It was all delicious. The coffee was really good and strong. The bread was so fresh and good that I kept talking about it all day long. For dinner we tried the short ribs, the cod fish, the salads, and a few appetizers. It was all exquisite. For dessert we had the carrot cake and the creme brulé. The desserts were outstanding. Best carrot cake ever. From the restaurant you can see the pond with the fish. It is really pretty. The souvenier shop was full of cute items and it was hard to choose what to buy.

The accommodations were wonderful and the little extras that they provided made the stay even better. The food was all natural, delicious, and a wide variety of choices plus the presentation of each meal was exquisite! And the Spa was ssoooo relaxing. Everyone we interacted with was helpful and friendly. Definitely would recommend the Daniel Webster Inn!

Waitress was all alone in our room, so service & the usual friendliness & warmth were non existent. The waitress was good but very preoccupied & run ragged. We were all disappointed in the brunch/lunch menu, at 2:00 pm, so it was too early for the dinner menu. It was my parents anniversary & we were very disappointed with almost everything, the chicken pot pie was fair to good at best, my wife loved the “Fruit of the sea”, the waitress did remember it was their anniversary as I had told them when we arrived, & brought a cup of ice cream with a candle in it. We have been coming here for special occasions for any years & my parents know so many of the waitresses here. What a terrible disappointment for all of us, especially my parents.

Food and service unbelievable. I don't like to give 5 stars because there are very few perfect places. 4.6 if I could give decimals. Atmosphere and staff are excellent.

Nice place for a meal food is great. Never stayed there but I'm sure it would be nice. I have been to the spa which I would also recommend.

The Dan'l Webster Inn… eh where to begin. Pretty classy place, with a very rich history. Lodging accommodations are very nice, no complaint. On the other end, the kitchen/dining aspect is lacking a bit being advertised as "fine dining". Far too many mistakes to be on the high end side of the spectrum. That's not a reflection on the head chef, Steve, however as he appears to take his craft seriously. It seems more of a lack of enthusiasm and diligence brought on by management. Tall guy with dark hair was generally a rude guy and walks with his nose up. Can't remember his name but I believe it was James or Jake. He seems to have … different… priorities. Watched him ignore an elderly couple waiting to be seated while he was being flirtatious with a young girl. Hey none of my business, but keep it in your pants on the clock buddy. On the flip, the dinner was very well done and the bar is a cozy and comfortable place. Enjoy a drink in there on a nice cold evening, as they have a fire in the fireplace when it's cold usually. Went in with high expectations due to reviews and carrying the Dan'l Webster name, but was mildly disappointed.

Enjoyed a single night at this hotel — beautiful, clean hotel with courteous staff. Beds were comfortable and rooms were quiet — no noise came in from the hall or other rooms despite being next to the stairs and a common area. Had a great meal at the tavern on site and an equally great breakfast the next morning (try the cloud biscuits or the bananas foster french toast). Would have loved to use the pool but wandered the beautiful gardens on the grounds. It's very well located in town — nearly everything was within walking distance and the staff were really helpful in pointing out places to visit. Will definitely be back!

We have dined here over 30+ yrs, & it "was" my Mom's favorite place. 4 for lunch, called reservation in for "My Mother's 90th Birthday Party, her Favorite place".
Waiter comes, pours water. I go to pick up my water glass, Pink lipstick UGH. He replaces it, never even apologized. I pick up my Father's glass, more lipstick, same deal= replaced, no apology. My brother picks his glass up, same disgusting thing! Gee No soap or No dishwasher? We ordered. My brother was told "tartar sauce comes on the fish sandwich-no tartar and we couldn't find the waiter. He never came back to ask the typical
"How are your meals or is everything OK! "
My mother got the lobster sandwich, sans the bread with sweet potatoes fries that were so laden with thick Sea Salt she couldn't eat them
Again, waiter (older man) never came back to check.
I had Fruits de Mere and was shocked to get very small frozen shrimp, ONE scallop and a tiny piece of fish but Loads of bread crumbs.

4of friends went to lunch at The Dan'l Webster In. We sat out in the sunroom. The food was absolutely delicious. Our waiter was congenial, wonderful sense of humor. We were not rushed and had enjoyable ladies luncheon. Our waiter was Brian, fantastic service!

We had a great late breakfast at the historic Daniel Webster Inn in the center of Sandwich. We ate in a lovely bright room that looks out on a pretty garden area with a koi pond. (The room has glass on the side where the garden is. It is not open to the garden. I loved the fact that they served breakfast until 11 AM on weekdays. The menu has some unique items as well as traditional breakfast choices. I chose prime rib hash with fried eggs on top. The hash was excellent and was enhanced by the different taste and texture of the eggs. The wait staff was very friendly and helpful. He always made sure we had just what we wanted/needed. There is a parking lot as well as on-street parking.

My Spouse and I stayed overnight and we got their whale watching package. They were very helpful with making sure our whale watching tour was scheduled but also they were very kind and curtious when we got there. The room was fantastic. It was very comfortable and looked like something out of a movie. Also, as part of the package we had $50 towards dinner and $15 towards breakfast at the inn. Although the prices were high enough to keep us spending beyond the vouchers the dinner and breakfast were both delicious, beautifully presented, and well worth it. We dinned in the glass enclosed space both times and it was very atmospheric for both a wonderful dinner and bright breakfast. Before we left ww checked out the gift shop, once again with $15 of voucher money, and only went over a little bit to get a cute stoneware mug. There were many other nice things there as well but we were mostly sold on the mug. We only stayed one night and didn't get to expedience everything they have to offer but based on our experience I would recommend them as a place to stay the night and be able to treat yourself or just plan on going for a whole weekend and really take advantage of everything they have to offer. Also, although the whale watching itself isn't done at the inn I would definitely reccomend the whole package. It's not too far of a drive and the experience was amazing.

Great Museum, Bad hotel
A bad old-fashioned hotel, lacking in maintenance, neglected and scruffy, the rooms are dark, the décor is dated and ruined, the cleanliness is poor.
The rooms on the hallway are no outside windows (just a small air vent in the bathroom).
The property would be ideal for a museum but not for a hotel.
Once it has been a prestigious residence, but to this day this prestige, although kept at the tour operators, is no longer deserved.

The Inn was wonderful. I attended a wedding and stayed overnight. The food was delicious. The inn is very neat to explore with some of the monuments right outside the front door. The rooms are clean, the bathrooms are clean, and the showers have great water pressure.

Great food, fun bar, good entertainment. The wine by the glass could be better. Dave Perry is one of the best bartenders I have meet. His Old Fashioned cocktail is the best I have tasted. This is the the guy to get to make the complex cocktails.

At the bar: rustic, old world atmosphere. Good menu, good food, reasonable prices. Good wine selection.

Wonderful old Inn. Large rooms. Restaurant has great food. Bar seating as well. Staff is very helpful accommodating. Holding event here for 70+ ppl and staff helped with setting it up to make it memorable. Walking distance to Glass Museum. Very nice.

Upscaled atmosphere, upscaled pricing. Food + service a bit better than average but WHAT, No Clam Chowder. Lobster chowder served warm, at best.

The food as good. The som was knowledgeable. The wine as fairly priced. The bar had personality. We did not stay at the inn, but would recommend the dining.

We had a very nice lunch in the sunroom. The staff were lovely. The gift shop is great.

We have been going to this restaurant for 11 years. The service has been efficient and attentive. However, the menu has made so few changes over the years that it's become the same ole same ole. Furthermore, the servers tell us that the chef is completely inflexible about any customer requests to make the tiniest changes to an entree. For example, I enjoy the seafood medley at $22.00. I asked to substitute a small salad, for which I'm willing to pay extra, for the excessively oily green beans or carrots. Our server tells us that this so-called swap, even with our wilingness to pay more, cannot be done. Inexcusable!

New Year's Eve dinner — Excellent food and service. We has a reservation and were seated on time. First time having dinner there… Wonderful experience.

Great dinner… Great atmosphere with a nice fireplace… Delightful server… A+++. The early dining menu (be seated by 5:45) offers great selections and 3 courses… Chicken pot pie is outstanding… Salmon was apparently excellent, too.

What can I say about this venue? Exceeds Expectations seems too simple. From the moment that we saw the conservatory at the Dan'l Webster Inn, we knew we wanted our wedding here. With its tall glass windows showcasing a koi pond and waterfall, the reception space exuded as well as promised elegance and class. The package we chose included the reception & food plus the ceremony in the beautiful gardens. Throughout the year I had many conversations with Amy O'Neil; the Catering and Sales Manager who we booked with. We loved working with her. Amy was detail oriented, organized and prompt in regards to every correspondence. She made this easy for us. All the big and little worries were put to rest every time because she was attuned to what we needed. Amy went so far as to suggest new ideas that we hadn't thought of. On the weekend of our wedding, everything went flawlessly from our rehearsal to the day of, even though it was raining on our rehearsal. Our server Kiernan that night deserves her own recognition for taking care of the fifteen of us all by herself, without any issues. Our "day of coordinator" Rob Backman was phenomenal. He kept us all on time and calm. From the moment he got there that day, he was 100% committed to everything being exactly how we wanted it, and if it wasn't working — he made it work. The staff on the day of were great at getting any last minute items that either bridal or groomsmen party forgot.

I was invited to a friend's birthday dinner here. Homely atmosphere with accommodating service. There was a table for the 7 of us so there's enough room for big families.

Love the tavern and lunch was delicious. Bartender K. Very friendly. Gift shop has unique items, was able to try on sweater before purchase. Lady very sweet. Will be back. S&p.

Not worth the price. Restaurant food was terrible. Stayed here for four days. They give you a $15 coupon per room, per night for breakfast. We had two rooms for all four days. We decided to try breakfast there the second morning. Coffee was cold. Asked for cream received milk. Food was tasteless. I had purchased the dining package so I had to use the $60 worth of coupons that we could not use at breakfast so we ordered room service later that night, hoping it would be better. 4 ok desserts and 2 horrible flat bread pizzas. With $60 worth of credit, I still had to pay $37 for horrible food. Walls were paper thin. You could hear everything the people in the next room were saying. They offered the “Whale of a time” package on their site. We thought it would be easier to purchase through them. Our fault for not checking but they offered 2 tickets for$125. We bought 4 for 250. We got to the whale watching and the whale watching place only charges $52 per person. I understand a fee for booking but seriously, $40 bucks? They overcharge for everything! Will not be back and will never recommend! There are way better, cheaper places to stay! Waste of hard earned vacation money!

We went for lunch. It was a beautiful place in the conservatory. Pizza was a little greasy for my taste but pretty good. We walked here.

This is a fantastic place for breakfast. It has an elegant old fashioned hotel feel and the food was phenomenal. We got the pancake of the day which was an oatmeal quinoa pancake with fresh blueberries and a blueberry & cranberry glaze!

We just stopped for lunch and had a delightful experience. The chicken pie was the best ever! Lobster chowder is fantastic. Service, impeccable. Such a peaceful, relaxing environment with a lovely view of the beautiful garden.

Went to lunch here with friends and it was great. The food was really delicious! I had the portabella burger and was very impressed. Also had hazelnut brulee for dessert and it was very tasty. Staff was friendly and polite. The manager checked on us twice. There were a few things that I wish had been different — they were out of various teas, the watermelon on my mother's salad was supposed to be grilled, and service was a little slow (they seemed understaffed) but I would absolutely recommend it and would go back for sure. The conservatory was a beautiful spot to sit and the overall aesthetics were very pleasing. Great experience.

Sunday Brunch at the Webster is always delicious! The food is great, and the atmosphere is relaxing. We usually have great service. Food took to long on our last visit, particularly for bacon and eggs. Four out of five stars but would still recommend!

I attended in a wedding at the Inn. The hotel rooms had lovely furnishings, lots of space for the bridal party to get ready, and a view of the beautiful garden off the balcony. The reception was in the restaurant. The conservatory with glass walls and ceilings provided a beautiful view of the gardens and waterfall feature. The food was good. The first two courses, Mushroom Sherry Soup and Seared Ahi Tuna Tostadas, outshined the entrees. Due to the space, the guests were divided between several rooms which was not ideal, but just how the layout was. The dance floor was also small. Overall a beautiful location for a wedding or just an overnight stay.

Went there for a wedding reception and I must say that the venue and the food was fantastic. The passed hordurves were delicious! We had these Swedish meatballs with bacon wrapped scallops and mushroom stuffed crabcakes. For the appetizer there was a fantastic seared tuna on tostada. Finally for the main dish it was a choice of chicken over mash or salmon over rice. Everything was delicious. The staff were courteous and attentive. Ambience was great and definitely a wonderful place for a wedding reception.

We booked this hotel on Priceline and my initial thought is that I would be upset if I paid $229 a night for a room here. The check in was easy and when we went to our room, the AC unit was making a loud noise (I think room 37? ). Also to note, the view from our room had basically torn down materials hanging right outside of what was supposed to be our window — it looked like someone just forgot to clean up. Pretty sloppy. We went downstairs and expressed the issue with the ac unit and they (to their credit) did promptly put us in another room (room 40) The room seemed nice and the beds were comfortable. However, the walls here are PAPER THIN. I guess there was a wedding party at the hotel and they returned to their rooms very late and we could hear (word for word) the conversation as though they were standing next to us. It woke us all up and was pretty annoying and carried on for a good hour. We did have dinner and breakfast at the hotel and those meals were wonderful. My biggest concern was that I booked this hotel because they were supposed to have an onsite fitness center. When I arrived, I was told that they open at 9 AM on Sunday. 9 AM? Most people who want to run / exercise on the weekend are looking to do that early — not to have to exercise and hurry off to shower and get ready to be checked out at 11… I guess they have run into this problem before since they did have (again to their credit) day passes for a local gym.

There is no gym. You have to buy toothpaste at the gift shop. No refrigerators in the room. Classic style hotel. Staff is friendly. Very rustic feel and rooms are stylish. The breakfast is EXCELLENT. Three and a half star hotel.

3.0 star rating 3/27/2016 We were seated very promptly in the Tavern for a our 6 PM reservation to celebrate our anniversary. Our waitress Joanne greeted us and we ordered a drink and began looking at the menu. I was disappointed to see that sirloin tips were no longer on the menu, but I chose the pork tenderloin. My salad and my husband's lobster chowder was very good, but it went down hill from there. When I was served the pork tenderloin and the waitress had left, and I noticed that my small "oven roasted" potatoes were charred and blackened. Not wanting to cause a scene, I ate most of my pork tenderloin but left the potatoes after attempting to eat a few. There were some peas on a bed of parsnip puree which were palatable to say the least. Everything tasted burnt. When Joanne came back to the table, I had picked off four of the small potatoes and told her to take everything back to the kitchen, as I was very disappointed with my meal. She removed the plate and went back to the kitchen. She came back a short while after to try and appease me by offering me a free dessert, but by that time I was disgusted. My husband finished his dinner, and we left shortly after that. She again offered me a dessert to go, but I refused. The total bill was $86.14, the pork tenderloin was $27.00. The bill was paid with two gift certificates that I had received, so thankfully I wasn't out any money, but believe me, we will not be back.

Worst possible experience you could imagine food is cold and not very good quality for the value plants over tables are dirty and sevice is disconnected fries in short ribs are weak and limp with no blue cheese duck is not crispy and I'd an embarrassment buffalo chic tenders were ice cold do not waste your money.

The property would be gorgeous in the summer! I stayed in November, for a business trip. Tea was served in the afternoon, a wonderful touch. The fireplaces around the building were cozy. I do think the cost was on the high side per night, especially for weeknights. Even though the hotel didn't have many guests, I ended up being in a connecting room and had people in the rooms on both sides. I could hear lots of coughing through the walls and the closing of the room doors was loud.

I was disappointed based on the cost of a room I really expected something special and it was not so. The food was good though the service was slow due to a wedding at the location so maybe not staffed enough. We ordered a bottle of wine to be delivered, it arrived with no way to open it? We were suppose to have a bottle of champagne delivered when we arrived to celebrate our anniversary it never arrived and the next day we actually had to call the front desk to have it delivered. The last straw was breakfast which was very good unfortunately we never received the complete order and we had to find cups to pour our tea in. Overall I would not return or recommend it to others.

Very disappointed. Went twice recently and though the waitstaff is exemplary the food is not. Both times we returned home and ate again. Last night what we were served was not even close to what was stated on the menu. If I were the chef I'd be embarrassed.
