This Inn is a fabulous gem! The staff is wonderful… very thoughtful, kind and helpful. They know all about the area and tell you all the fun and interesting places to see. They make sure you have everything necessary for unforgettable stay.

Customer Service: No one is there!

Stayed in 2014, was pleased with it that visit. This time however was not the same, they were tearing up the tracks right in front which is where we were, all night, pounding, cutting off the old tracks & replacing them, I understand they have to work at night because of the traffic but… they should have warned us or put us on the back side, we did not sleep, maybe a few hours. Kinda disappointed, we should get a refund or another night free but we know that won't happen.

Would definitely stay here again. I'm from Maine so I'm very used to that old building/house charm that many buildings have in New England. It was clean and spacious and perfect for the one night we needed to see a show at the House of Blues. Perfect location, great price and can't beat that there is a T station literally right outside of the building (although it was a little loud at night, but we were too tired from the concert to really care). The only odd thing was that we had to pay $30 for off street parking (not awful for Boston) but then I had to leave my car key in a little unlocked box at the front desk, which was often unmanned… this was in case they needed to move my car if someone else had to move my car to get out. It was very strange and didn't like that at all. If you are going to require people to leave their car keys then at least have them supervised at all times or locked. Otherwise, good experience and would definitely use for another inexpensive night or two in Boston.

This place is a mess. Nice staff, but poorly managed. The welcome area is messy. My room was the size of a large closet, had an odor, a piece of cardboard taped over a vent (see photo), bed was about five feet long, paper thin walls and next to trolley tracks. We had a detached bathroom that only had scalding hot water. Cleaning products and linens were all over the hallway for whatever reason. The location was good, but can't say much else.

Good location, clean, and very comfortable beds! Staff was not on site for checkout however. Besides that, good experience and fair for the price.

If you're looking for an affordable hotel in a nice location, the Beacon Inn is a great option. The room was cozy, had all the basic amenities, and was surprisingly large. The only negatives were things you have to expect from old buildings: noise from the street and other tenants through thin walls (though it was rarely too annoying), climbing lots of stairs, and lack of parking. Overall it was a good place to stay and I'd definitely go back.

Absolutely brilliant hotel. We only booked here as a cheap one nighter but to our surprise it was fantastic. The rooms are massive with two double beds and big bathroom. Breakfast is included and the spread which is put out in the morning is fantastic — anything you could ask for. Also in walking distance of the main city.

I rarely write reviews but I'm compelled to do so in this case because for the life of me, I do not understand where all the positive reviews for this place are coming from. Yes, the location is great, but that's all that's great. First of all, the pictures on the website in no way, shape or form represent the current condition of this property. My wife and I stayed in room 5, which had an overwhelming odor to it, not necessarily bad, but way too powerful. It was dingy and barely updated for a real hotel or bed and breakfast experience. There was a bathroom in the room, but you had to step up about a foot up to get into it, which meant you had to bend way down to grab the door handle to close the door. That was both amusing, and sad. At check in, I was put in a parking space in an alley behind the building, and then was asked to leave my car keys in a lock box. That was an outrageous request which I certainly did not abide by. The desk person left at 3 pm and I was informed the desk would not be manned until 8 am the following morning. Also very weird. I was given a phone number to call if anything came up, but the strong feeling was we were on our own, which was unsettling considering security was at a bare minimum. The lock to the room was a joke, and the one secure door out to the street was so shaky that it seemed like an open invitation to crime. The experience was so creepy that my wife and I woke up before 5 am the next morning just to get the heck out of there.

If and when I return to Boston I will only be staying here. The service, standard of room, breakfast and price can not be beat. There was also a lovely lady cleaning the rooms who I had the pleasure of having a great conversation with at breakfast.

This place is awesome! Great staff, wonderful locstion, relaxing stay and the house is something I did not expect. Room 10 is the best room hands down! I will stay there again.

The hotel staff was very friendly. The room I had was very nice, clean, and the view over the road was very nice. The bathroom was seperate (through the hallway) but I knew that when I booked. It was a nicely updated bathroom and was very spacious, unfortunately for some reason my shower had no hot water however the staff did everything they could to fix it eventually ending in me moving rooms. I was very satisfied with how they treated that situation. I was very excited to see the new bathroom had a large clawfoot tub, but imagine my surprise when there was no tub spigot just a shower head ¯\_ (ツ) _/¯ Otherwise the The Beacon in was beautiful, comfortable, very easy to travel to and from, well decorated, and peaceful. Its within walking distance to Fenway Park, and also the "hot on hop off trolley". I would reccomend this place to anyone visiting Boston.

Room is clean and the fresh linens and towels smelled great. Awesome touch with the organic shampoo, conditioner and soap. Can't beat the price either… all in all great stay.

A good place to be.

The flagship location is 1087 Beacon Street. Don’t be fooled into thinking the 1750 Beacon Street location is comparable. They charge the same rates, shockingly, so it’s understandable that you might expect the same level of quality. The 1750 location is no more charming than staying at a frat house. The room my husband and I stayed in was arguably the worst value I have EVER paid in my many travels and stays. The bathroom was inadequate for guests. It was tiny, which no countertop space and its walls had mounts for towel bars and no towel bars. It was hard to tell if the bars had been removed or not yet put up. The closet was is awful shape with gross carpet and a sloping coat rack. The bed frame squeaked terribly and there was an ugly patch of wall that was scraped up. None of these complaints would cost very much to improve, but clearly no one is paying attending to some MAJOR needs of the room. Frankly, I’m appalled they charge more than $20 a night for that tiny and terribly unprepared room.

The place is beautiful abd they take good care if it. The service is wonderful. The only two things that could be improved are: 1. The heat system is centralized, so my first night was cold. I told them for ny second night snd it got fixed, they turned it on. 2. The room I got has it's main door in the bathroom, right next to the toilet, and the main room shares a wall and a big door with the lobby office. This means that everyone can hear my business in the restroom, and I could hear everything happening in the lobby (and I am sure they could hear me). Ideally, the entrance to the room could be placed in the actual bedroom, not the bathroom, and maybe the door thqt is shared with the lobby could be converted into an actual wall, to prevent leaking noise.

Stayed here for a few nights and had a great stay. If you’re looking for a charming Bed and Breakfast with a comfortable and friendly vibe this is the place for you. The receptionist was helpful with directions, explaining the T, she even let us use her umbrella when we went out to dinner. Can’t get that service at a big chain. We’ll be back!

Oozing with character — love the brick buildings. Location in the city is great. A hand full of bars and restaurants very close by and quite a bit more if you're willing to walk 15 minutes.

I stayed at room for two nights. Personally, it was the worst place that I have ever visited. I made a reservation through expedia, and it was $200 per night. It meant I was supppsed to pay total $400 +additional fee, but I charged $79 more when I got there. Well, I was really grateful that they provided nice service for late check-in. But when I went into my room, it was freaking cold and super noisy because of train&cars. I guess heat conditioner did not function well. The biggest problem was they didn't do anything for me. Hotel workers are only available from 8a. M. To 10a. M. When I needed any help, it was impossible to get assistance from them. It was too cold to sleep in my room, so I tried to find any workers but I could not. I even sent voice mail to hotel number, but there was no response until I did check-out next morning. Also, there was nothing to eat for breakfast. Only coffee, bread, and a few cereal. It was my first trip to Boston, and I hoped it would be a nice memory. But it was ruined by this hotel service in part. I'm actually not sure if other people would experience same things or not, but I can certainly say I do not want to stay here once again.

Stayed with my boyfriend for a concert at house of Blues, the inn was in walking distance so the location was perfect and the price was good. Ryan at the desk was helpful and gave us a nice short cut to get to the house of blues. We go to concerts there all the time and I think this may be our new spot.

I loved it! Quaint but clean and classically Victorian, and such a fun experience. Don't expect too much for breakfast, I would definitely not consider this to be a B&B. They offer bagels and what looked like some muffins, along with coffee and some juices and yogurts for breakfast. Also, the Wi-Fi was really annoying! They have an open Wi-Fi network (not password protected), and I could barely watch an episode of Netflix on my laptop at night before bed (the TV was terrible). But I didn't mind too much — I still loved it!

Very old but not kept up. Our room door opens into the bathroom. You need to go thru the bathroom to get to bedroom. The wallpaper is ripped, wall paint peeling and sloppy. The only positive right now is the Keurig coffee pod selection.

Fantastic place to stay at, friendly staff service, beautiful hotel, bed was super comfortable to sleep in, only downside was we had to park on the street do to arriving at 9 pm; which they have three available parking spots for hotel guests.

Great staff! Very very helpful. But room is a bit of a let down for the amount of money that they charge. Location is nice though.

My daughter and I stayed this weekend for our birthdays and it was AMAZING! The rooms are clean and beautiful and our beds were the best! With Fenway so close and the train literally outside the door, you couldn't ask for anything better.

Stayed for my sister's graduation. The room was really nice and the inn is in a really good location. We could walk to restaurants and bars, but the train was right out front for when we went somewhere further away. The breakfast in the morning was good too; we had fresh croissants, muffins, bagels, and cereal too. The coffee machine is available 24 hours a day which I liked too.

We had a very pleasant experience at 1750 Beacon Inn. Ryan at the front desk was very accommodating when we arrived earlier than the normal check in time. He gave us information and instruction on how to get to our first destination, along with a map of the T-line. The front desk manager on Thurs. 4/20 (I forgot his name! ) was very helpful with our car situation when we took one last trip to the city. The room was clean, breakfast was simple, and overall exactly what we needed. We look forward to staying here again when we're up to visit again!

My husband and I adored our stay at the Beacon Inn. It was a last minute find, but it ended up being perfect for us. I couldn't believe we found something so cute and convenient that also happened to be very affordable compared to the other hotels in Boston. The Beacon Inn had so much character — from the old woodwork, to the decorations in the room, to the people at the front desk. The woman and gentleman at the desk were very helpful and accommodating during our stay. We can't wait to come back!

I loved the room. The view from the bay window was very nice. Fireplace in the room was beautiful. Only wish it worked or had something in it to fake a flame. The bed was heavenly. After a long day walking in the city. I just didn't want to get up. The staff was so nice and very helpful. We really enjoyed our stay at the Beacon Inn and I would be proud to recommend it to others visiting Boston.

I love this place! It's in a beautiful neighborhood. We felt very safe. The staff, especially the guy at the front desk, was great. Very helpful, and he gave us a couple insider tips on the city. Our room was actually bigger than we expected, and very comfy. Our private bathroom was down the hall, which we knew, and it was huge! The continental breakfast had the best croissants I've ever had, and there was nutella. What else do you need?! Coffee, tea, juice was available 24/7. Toiletries were provided, and really nice. I loved the soap. I really can't wait to go back next time I'm in Boston.

We stayed for our honeymoon. Couldn't have asked for anything better! Perfect location, friendly staff, beautiful historic building… and the price! No, it isn't the Ritz. If that is what you want… you have to pay for that. We will most definitely be back.

Dont waste your time and money because you'll be highly disappointed. I paid $25 for parking and was told to park in the back of the building in a 3 foot snow bank. I asked for a refund (which I didn't get till 5 calls and a week later). Their solution was for me to park in the street and they will pay the parking ticket IF I get one… really! Is this how you do business? The place is a joke and not to mention dirty with paper thin walls.

I stayed at the Beacon Inn last week for three nights. In spite of the negative reviews I booked because of the location and for the chance to stay in what looked like a cool old brownstone. I have to say I was a little surprised when I checked in — the front desk sits right in the middle of the 'front' room — imagine your living room as a reception area. The desk guy took me to my room & showed me how to work the lock because I was assigned a room that was also an emergency exit. The room (Esplanade) itself had 2 queen beds and was well-furnished, clean and quiet (on the back of the hotel, not the Beacon St. Side). The private bath was a little rustic, but also clean & functional. The T stop is just steps away and you can also walk to Fenway and Kenmore in about 10 minutes. The free breakfast was fine — as long as I have a cup of coffee and a bagel I'm fine. In short, I would definitely stay here again. It's not the Four Seasons but it is perfect for those traveling on somewhat of a budget.

Our stay was in the Harvard room, which was cozy, charming, and quiet. No, this is not the most lux of hotels, but describing it as a dump is outrageous. The building is OLD, and if you've lived in old urban buildings you'll know that spaces are tricky to adapt to modern life, not everything will be perfect. My husband and I are not sure where the complaints about service are coming from. At check-in I explained that I had come down with the flu and requested a late check-out. Despite the fact that the next guest checking into the Harvard room was due to arrive early, Beacon Inn kindly accommodated me. At check-out I failed to leave our keys at the front desk (my fault). The staff very politely called, and when I realized my mistake they were more than reasonable: they didn't freak out or charge me or demand overnight shipment of the keys. Overall it was a pleasant experience, and the hotel is super convenient to the T in a gorgeous neighborhood. It worked out very well us, but please leave your keys when checking out!
