We booked a cabin for our wedding weekend and it was such a wonderful experience! the cabin was clean and cozy with a beautiful view of the water. The only downside was that the trip had to come to an end! we can't wait to come back to celebrate our anniversaries for years to come!

We’ve been there twice and I loved it so much! Adorable little cottages on the water and dog friendly. So peaceful and beautiful!

On 6/19/20 we checked in. Our key card wouldn’t work. The clerk on the front desk was fabulous. Very helpful personable and knowledgeable. She made our stay perfect! Ty so much. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to everyone. Wonderful accommodations. Beautiful beach.

I cannot say enough about this place. We originally only boomed one night, but as soon as we walked into our cabin. We knew thaf we needed to stay a 2nd night. The views are amazing! It is a great place for families of a romantic getaway. We cant wait to come back!

Very modern motel accommodations. Staff very friendly and helpful. They don’t charge extra for a pet, so that’s a bonus. If they had a pool, would be perfect getaway destination.

The front desk is attentive if you need anything. Place is pretty. Cabins are cute and quaint. Good spot between camden and bar harbor. We had one experience with a very loud and inconsiderate pair of women who drank on their deck and were very loud into the late evening. We had a conversation with them and handled it ourselves.

Amazing experience so far! Front desk was so welcoming; offering hot apple cider and cookies! The cottage was wonderful and steps away from the OCEAN! Cozy, clean, everything you could need! We will definitely come here again!

Super friendly staff. Cuddly front desk cat named Skipper. Adorable room. The bathroom was bright and sunny but if you're big/tall it is a tight squeeze. The view very nice. Perfect? No. Dust bunnies in corner behind the door. But sheets, tub, toilet and microwave were spotless. One suggestion: Lay off the perfumy Fabulouso when doing the floor. Though, to be fair, the floor was still damp when we checked in and the smell dissipated.

Excellent place to stay. Only reserved one night but loved it so much We asked to extend our stay a couple nights and they were kind enough to let us have our cabin for 3 nights. It has an awesome view… cabin is adorable and staff is very nice, friendly and helpful. Really well kept grounds and great atmosphere. We will certainly be marking this place as a "come back to" place.

Love love this place. Been visiting this place since I was a kid. I appreciate some of the updates the owner has made and continues to make. The only negative is too many dogs and people let them run loose especially on the beach. Management does not enforce the rules.

We stayed in Cabin This cabin is definitely aged, but the view is absolutely beautiful! Tableware, utensils, and furniture are worn and mismatched, but there is an ample supply. There is plenty of room to spread out, for four people, and to entertain others, as well. We were able to entertain local family during the day, by utilizing the outdoor deck area for meals. Be sure to get up early, to watch the sunrise, over the bay. It is a sight too behold!

Colonial Gables is the perfect getaway right on the ocean. Beautiful, well kept rooms and cottages. Everything is well kept.
Rooms and cottages are clean and cozy. Staff is friendly and do everything they can to make your stay truly wonderful.
Oh and the ocean view is unforgettable.

Right on West Penobscot Bay. In Belfast Maine. Amazing views. Rocky beach private to guests only. They have a motel, or a variety of cottages depending on size of your group/family. Very friendly and professional staff. The cottage We like was redecorated this year and just beautiful inside. It is right on the beach! The best seafood is just a few miles down the road in either direction.

Sadly, when we checked in on Friday night, there were cockroaches (plural) in the bathroom.
It was our first time staying in the cottages, we had stayed in the motel previously, several times.
I am sad because we really did enjoy it before, but left quickly, had to shake out all of our belongings and make a quick reservation elsewhere.
Staff did refund our stay, but this is unacceptable.

Beautiful view from our motel room. Our own private deck looking over the bay. Room was in perfect condition. Looked brand new. I would rate this as 6 stars or higher if that was available.

If there was a button for 10 Stars I would give it places Immaculate spotless very quiet very beautiful clearly if you want luxury and all the frills you should stay in the city if you want a beautiful cabin directly on the ocean that is clean comfortable and very friendly this is the place for you Dora the woman at the desk is very helpful very kind and really truly a nice person.

Superb… but not enough soundproof.

The Cottages were clean, clean. The bed was fantastic. Great views. Enjoyed having tea on our own porch in the morning. We also very much enjoyed the bonfire they provided at night.

I stayed in one of the motel rooms at the Colonial Gables for two nights. My room was larger than most hotel rooms and very clean. It had an extremely comfortable king sized bed, a large flat screen TV with cable and on demand, a micro/fridge combo (which even had ice in the freezer), a split unit with full control of your room's heat and A/C, and a private patio with a view of the rest of the village and the ocean. The floor of my room looked like wood planking, but was actually tile or manmade material of some sort. The pattern looked so real, though, with the grain and knots and sanding marks, that I had to touch it to tell that a split in one of the "boards" wasn't real. Regardless of what it's made of, it made the room feel so much cleaner than carpeting would. The negatives are minor: the furniture is a bit dated with some peeled veneer and the decor is a little kitschy, but what you expect from a Maine oceanside resort. The bathroom is tiny, but bright and spotless with modern fixtures. The toilet is very close to the wall, so a person of considerable size might have difficulty, but I'm not a small guy, 6'3"and 250 lbs, and, although my shoulder touched the wall, I didn't have any problem. Plenty of hot water with good water pressure. I didn't get to see inside any of the cottages, but they are spaced out on the property affording guests privacy. They were different shapes and sizes, which looks so much nicer than cookie-cutter cabins.

This is probably the most friendly hotel we've ever stayed in. The front desk lady is so nice, she gave us a free upgrade from a two beds regular room to a cottage right on the edge of the water, on high tide the sea water is about 10 feet from the back door. We didn't even complain nor asked for it, she simply offered us. I can't believe it.

It was very nice, quiet area. Lots of things to do in the area. Nice private beach. Room was clean.

We loved it! Cute little beach cabins with nice decks facing the ocean. Quite, friendly and just a hop away from downtown Belfast and all it offers.

I just stayed labor day weekend. It is a beautiful place. Pet and Kid friendly, right on the ocean, gorgeous views. People and staff are very friendly. I would definitely stay again.

This place is amazing! It has the best views! Full access to the beach, the staff is more than friendly! Very family oriented, the prices are very reasonable! And the cottages are just so amazing with varying size variety. You can bring you whole family!

I had an amazing time here. Our cottage was right on the water (if you can ask for it, sleeps two) and was very nice inside. Could use a couple improvements/repairs but I'm not that picky. I would have liked to have some food available on site instead of having to drive a mile to get anything. The beach area was also pretty unkempt. There was a guy one day attempting to rake up the debri but didn't look like he knew how. Other than that the staff was super friendly and helpful, place was clean and view was outstanding.

The beds are comfy. I ended up staying couple days longer I hated to leave. Maine is my home I travel from Boston to see family. I most certainly will be staying here.
I give it a 5 for the cute. Clean place.

Nice cottages on the Bay in close proximity to a quaint downtown area.

The cottage was run down, with warped walls and ceilings, water damage on the ceiling. Damage to the walls, furniture and the TV was barely hanging on the wall. The cable didn't work at all and the Wi-Fi was spotty at best.

Spent a night there with my daughter September 30th. Beautiful location; however, the door wouldn't close completely, was water still in the ice bucket, overhead light did not work, cover on heating unit was just laying on the floor. When I went to take a shower the next morning, no hot water. Then I was looking under the bed to make sure I hadn't dropped anything and discovered a pair of men's underwear. So, beautiful spot but they need to do a much better job on maintenance and cleanliness of the rooms.

Lock didn't work on front door. We went back to office and a nice lady came to try and get the door open. That didn't work so another came and said we would have to push door in when unlocking. We also killed several ants and spiders. The AC was a but of a trick to get working. It was a low price cottage for the area and met our needs. Would not go back.

Been there three times. Different cabins each time, and with/without kids. Just went this Sat night with our four kids, and stayed in a large cabin that was renovated: very clean, neat and with new fixtures, walls, ceilings, pretty much everything. Another nice stay:).

Stayed there in June 2014 for three days, we just loved it. The ladies in the office were very nice. The cottage we stayed was very nice and clean. The view of the ocean was too die for. We are already making plans for the same time in 2015. :-).

What a great find! From the outside the cottages are not much to look at but they are newly renovated and very modern and clean on the inside. Classic "you can't judge a book". Management couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Will definitely come again and recommend to friends and family.

Great stay! We spent one night here in unit 46. What a perfect night! Well appointed, cozy cottage right on the water. Good rate, helpful staff and the best perk. It is pet friendly. My girlfriend loved sitting in the jacuzzi tub listening to the waves crash over the beach. Lovely, also if you're in the area check out fort knox and jack Russells steak house all of which welcome pets.

I have just made a reservation for the annual September weekends for the "Golden Girls. " This makes the fifth year we will spend the week end, obviously everyone enjoys the stay. The cottages are very comfortable and spacious the added plus is being able to decide whether to cook for ourselves for enjoy one of the local restaurants. Colonial Gables is a very quiet, relaxing place to get away for the week end or a vacation as there are lots of shops, antiques, and museums in the area/.

Waterfront hotel with single rooms (at the street — quite loud — but with a balcony towards the ocean :), and Cottages in the direction of the water (made a very nice impression, much quieter). Had a Room Saver room for under 70$+Tax (without Breakfast), nicely equipped, clean. The slightly older Receptionist was a little snippy, but still okay. Dream is a morning walk at low tide on the beach. Pro: Close to the sea, clean room, nice interior, terrace to the sea side of the room, cottages look very nice and quiet. Con: quite noisy single/double rooms (not cottages) due to the close street.
