We were offered a package that included 4 days/3 nights at Club 36 in Las Vegas for only $199 out of pocket, plus $150 in Bass Pro gift cards in return for a "1 hour timeshare presentation. " The salesman in Bass Pro was very nice, stating that the presentation is usually less than an hour and no obligation. He wouldn't provide us any of the terms and conditions printed out, but we decided to take the gamble. Club 36 is a fairly nice resort, pretty modern with very friendly staff. The rooms do have thin walls which was not fun when we were next to a family that allowed their child to whine incessantly at all hours. We were lucky and got a room on the 4th floor with a view of the strip, as families on the other side complained of the loud airport noise (McCaran is maybe a 5 minute walk from this resort). Our 1 bedroom had more than we ever needed — couch and tv, queen bed and tv, kitchenette with dishware/silverware, appliances, toiletries, etc. The indoor pool was nice but small, and there's a small hot tub and sundeck. Presentation day we packed into a room with high-energy wannabe comedian Russ, the former magician. He gave the usual timeshare "psych them up" spiel. We then toured with Rico, who later presented us their offer. For around $37, 000 financed at 17.99% you can be an owner, plus annual maintenance fees. You also get a free membership to RCI with no exchange fees, and a free membership to a yaht club. Rico was only 19 and inexperienced, so he had to call in his female supervisor. She was very pushy, and would pout and say "why not? " and presented us a lower offer. After 3 hours we managed to convince them that we weren't buying and got our gift cards. All in all, we had a nice 4 night stay for only $199 during 4th of July weekend, which is hard to beat, and we got the gift cards we were promised. Would we stay again? If it were very cheap or free, yes, but we wouldn't pay more than $50 a night or even think of become an owner. PS: You can find BlueGreen and other timeshares on eBay for around $1 and the sellers will even pay the closing costs, which we might consider for Vacation Village which we found much nicer than BlueGreen, though BlueGreen did have better perks (no RCI exchange fee and yaht club membership).
