Fantastic place, the cleanest motel that you will ever stay in. The friendliest owners, too. The Hudson we are travelling in had a breakdown and they have been very helpful to us while we are here. Expert cleaning staff here. Thank you so much!

Perfect for us on our road adventure! Very clean. Staff very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend to any road adventurer! All you need is a place to sleep n shower. Plenty to see and do to keep busy. Will likely be back.

We just spent the weekend at the Rocket. Our room was clean and nicely decorated. Don and Brenda were a God-send as we had an unexpected run-in with an elk on our way to Custer. They went out of their way to help us get work on our car done and even offered to lend us their own vehicle. The continental breakfast was very tasty. The retro theme was well-done and it was comfortable for a 50's motel. The only negative was the bed lacked firmness and the water pressure in the shower was constricted. For the price, it's a great deal! The owners are awesome!

Clean, quiet, recently renovated. Friendly to Motorcyclists but motel is on a hill and may be difficult to park. Wi-Fi was slow so I docked this a star. Feel strongly that Wi-Fi now critical for lodging as so many of us work from the road. Pleasant front desk.

My girlfriend has a history of picking cheap motels and my experience is what you can imagine… you get what you pay for. I was honestly blown away by how clean this place was, bleached white sheets (it was as clean as a dentists office), nice bed, comfortable pillows and very well maintained room… I was surprised to say the least. I would absolutely recommend this place to anyone, you wouldn't be let down. Why stay anywhere else for the price and room quality? Rooms overall are a little small but who cares when they are so clean!

My family and I loved the stay here at Rocket Motel. The lady was so friendly and helped us get a room at a great price. I loved the decor and the sheets were so soft. Had such a good night sleep, we slept in.

The whole motel has a very nice atmosphere to it. Its very old school and it looks nice. The rooms were kind of small but we were only staying one night so it's not that big of a deal. The bathrooms we're also pretty small but they were very nice.

Very comfortable and clean. Owners were very friendly and helpful. Rooms are small (cozy! ) but atmosphere is huge. We stayed an extra night bc we liked it so much. They even have a pavilion with a fire pit and hot tub.

This was the most clean and sanitary motels we have ever encountered. The owners are the friendliest people you will ever meet and they take great pride in their property as you will be able to tell a second you arrive! Everything was clean and fresh, fresh paint, updated inside and out but keeping that 50's & 60's theme from when traveling was an adventure. We wanted to stay here once before when coming through Custer but they were totally booked, so be sure to call ahead and make reservations. You won't be disappointed!

I recently brought my children through Custer on family vacation. While shopping for a place to stay. I found the Rocket to be fair priced and available. I stopped in for a personal encounter of the staff and found that the owner was very honest with pricing and even did better than what was listed on most apps. I asked her about the food in the area. Instead of letting us go on our way. She invited our family to dine with them at no charge! A very good meal of brisket and veggies to boot! Growing up in an America that many have forgotten. I really did appritiate the hospitality! Not to forget, but they took an old motel and turned it into a new tester year stay! Beautiful place to stay and beautiful hospitality! Thank you for a great experience!

What a gem! The room was immaculate, the staff was very friendly — and the coffee was free & plentiful. We stayed in room with 3 kids. It was cozy, but everyone had bed space (a queen, a double & a twin). The beds were very comfortable, the sheets were soft, and each sleeping room had its own temp control. The bathroom was adorable — and again, spotless — though my tallish husband found the shower head to be a little short for him. I love the retro vibe; it really did feel like going back in time. It's a quiet place, with quiet hours observed from 10pm — 7am. There is a hot tub (we didn't use this) right off a spacious covered patio, which we used twice to have a picnic lunch. Another group used the patio's grill to make themselves some food. There is not a pool, but with Custer State Park, Mount Rushmore, and all that the Black Hills has to offer right outside the city… we didn't miss it. I hope to return to the area — and to The Rocket Motel — again soon!

Great little hotel. Owners have done a ton of work and it's very nice. Walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Close to all the attractions. I highly recommend it!

Great rooms! Great service! Covered patio with fire pit and hot tub is a fantastic way to spend your evenings after a long day of sightseeing. Highly recommended! My family has decided to make the Black Hills Vacation a yearly tradition and we will continue to stay at The Rocket!

Amazing place to stay in Custer. Great location with lots to see and eat within walking distance. Has everything you might need from a short stay and the rooms were pristine with a ready-made list of great food suggestions. Would absolutely stay here again.

Way better then expected. Clean rooms, 1 room with two beds, then a separate room with 1 bed. Each room has its own door to go outside. We also have a microwave and a refrigerator. The price was cheaper considering the area. $160 on Expedia. Our family of 6 is comfortable in the room.

Free coffee in the mornings at 8 am. The staff were great and the room very clean. They provided info about the surrounding area and give a 10% discount to certain local restaurants. Would highly recommend.

Management (Owners) take a lot of pride in their facilities and go out of their way to ensure that your stay is as comfortable as possible.

Beds were a dream! Room was clean, simple, and stylish. We will definitely be staying here next time through SD. Great location for hiking or seeing Mt Rushmore/Crazy Horse monument.

Very nice hotel! Came back from a drive and our room was clean. Bed was very comfortable. Only thing I would recommend is a privacy door or curtain in the family rooms. I would recommend to family and friends.

This place was a real trip, we loved it. VERY clean and fresh inside. I was really impressed with the retro style furniture and kitchenette in the suite. The owners were nice and the overall experience was great. I would highly recommend staying here!

We stayed at the Rocket Motel for the Rally this year. The owners were some of the best people that we have ever meet. The rooms had everything you could ever need and were Very Clean. Had a Great time and would tell anyone going out that way to stay there. Thanks again for everything!

We have been staying at the Rocket every couple years for the past 20. Each time we are there, staff is friendly, always willing to point out great places to visit. So affordable and just a great place. Just booked our next stay. And the Purple Pie Place near by is awesome! We've stayed in the family rooms and the single rooms, ALWAYS clean and fresh.

Great Motel! The owners are very friendly and helpful. She took the time to talk to us and explain things going on in the area and a list of all the restaurants that would give you a discount by showing your room key. The Motel was very clean inside and outside. A great place to stay. Just wish we would have stayed there the whole vacation.

Ann and I stay at the Rocket every year during the buffalo roundup. This is a beautifully cared for motel, plus the owners and staff are genuinely pleasant. Already have our stay booked for next year.

CLEAN hotel, SOFT towels and sheets, FRIENDLY service, CUTE place. I love that they provide plenty of towels and wash cloths in the room. Definitely worth the price. They have a small complimentary coffee bar available for guests each morning, and I love that they even have a flavored cream option with it. Most importantly, every square inch of our room was very clean.

Awesome Place. Truly retro restoration. Room was very clean. Slept great. We came in late and they were very gracious in working with our schedule. We will stay again.
