This place was great. Very close to CP park entrance. The rooms were very clean and newly renovated. Staff was very welcoming. Can't wait to stay again…

We just stayed this past weekend & had a wonderful experience! The pool was great & pretty warm. Staff was very helpful & rooms were clean.

It is a nice hotel. The rooms are clean and fresh, the bed is comfortable, the rates are affordable, friendly and helpful staff. The location is very close to Cedar Point. On the downside, when we first got in the room the cable box would not turn on and we had to call the front desk approximately 5 times before someone picked up and they had to come explain why the remote doesnt work. They could have told us that at check in. Not a major issue, did not by any means ruin our stay. Above all, a great stay and a good experience.

Paid for a 2 bed room and got a one bedroom with a pull out couch in the living room. Says 6 people but has one 2 person couch. Manager said it was no mistake. I feel ripped off, false advertisement.

Inexpensive, great location to cedar point. We were there for a family reunion, so we stayed about 6 days. The pool was great and it was nicely landscaped. Our group's meeting spot was out in the courtyard, so it mattered to us. Rooms were clean. Staff at the front desk always seemed preoccupied, interns for the summer we were told. Cleaning staff was either great or would totally forget to do anything. Our group had 4 rooms booked, each of us had to ask for towels on at least one occasion. Good value for the cost, spoke with a few of the staff that said the new owners seem to be investing more in the property. Would stay here again.

Great place, Great people that work here. Swimming pool has 2 slides and hot tub. Our room was very nice! King size bed and spa tub. If you will be going to Cedar point this place is only 10 mins from the entrance.

SCAMMERS! I am beyond furious with this hotel. Although the stay was halfway decent (Minus the loud drunks in the pool until 3am). We were WRONGLY charged a $200 smoking fee when NOBODY in our party smoked in our room AT ALL. I tried to explain this to not one but two of the managers just for him to say, "oh well". They stated they had absolutely no evidence besides what one person thought to be a "lingering smell", which again did not come from me. But because its my word against theres they feel they have the right to wrongfully take my money… TRUST ME. You haven't heard the last from me.

Don't judge a book by it's cover. This place is wonderful, once you walk through the doors. The exterior is fine but, a bit dated. Our room looked newly renovated. It had a fresh look, was clean and welcoming. The employees were very friendly. Breakfast was typical hotel fare. Pastries, bagels, yogurt, waffles and fresh fruit. For the price you will be pleasantly surprised. I will be staying here for future Cedar Point trips. It was less than a five minute drive, JUST off Cedar Point Road.

Our stay there was pleasant. Fairly quiet room, clean and recently updated. We stayed here last year around the same time and had a pleasant experience, so came back this year. Nice family owned business, good coffee in the morning, pool looked fun. Would definitely come back.

Spent much of our evening looking all over town for a motel to accommodate our little 4 lb Yorkie who travels with us and thought we had run out of luck in this town until we found this place and they were so helpful and accommodating! Very clean and comfortable and awesome breakfast! Thanks to you our little trip was a successful one!

Clean, comfortable rooms. Staff friendly. Comfortable beds and bedding. Continental breakfast had a lot of choices. Breakfast area roomy. Free water on arrival. The pool was quite popular and it looked like the children were having fun. we booked 2 rooms and both were clean. Great for a place to sleep and recharge.

Room was large and comfortable. Didn't hear any road noise from the highway, some other guests were loud though.

Room smelled musty and of smoke. Carpet felt grimey. The pool area was not clean while we're there and it created trip hazards. The pool does have a water slide and, itself, is nice. The rooms were very depressing, but the staff was really very nice a curteous. They do have a very small selection of beer that is sold behind the front desk, but a lot of it is fruit flavored. The breakfast was disappointing. The curtains in the room left sizeable gaps at the sides, which is very off-putting when kids are loudly running back-and-forth outside your room. For me, this is only a place you stay the night before or after a visit to Cedar Point and all other options have no vacancies.

I absolutely loved this hotel. It's basic but it covers everything you need. The beds were fantastic. Will definitely be staying here on future trips.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. We loved the pool and hot tub. Rooms were clean and very nice.

After thinking I had a reservation but didn't the staff was very accommodating to make sure I was able to get a room. She was very polite & professional. The pool appears to be very well kept although I did not have time to enjoy it nor the hot tub. Room is clean, beds are comfy, flat screen TV & large counter next to sink to get ready! So close to CP & you can't beat the price. Worth every penny! Will definitely be back!

One night stay. Close cedar point. I see most of the rooms are vacant that night I stayed. Ok to sleep and go… thin walls and noisy rooms but other than that all good.

The parking could deff be updated it seems super small and close. The room was nice, our key card didn't work at first so they had to fix it. They have a free breakfast but wasn't all that good. It was close to Cedar point, why we stayed there. They have early check in but 25 dollar fee.

The service was excellent and the friendly staff were friendly. Drinks and breakfast were also offered.

Good room quality, as advertised. Customer service was sub par, manager was not friendly and seemed to be inconvenienced by guests staying.

A a two day stay at hotel over. It took them 45 minutes to check me in. Room was ok for stay but later got a call l stole 2 blankets l told them l didn't they called me a lier and a thief and charged my card $50. Had to call a friend that stays there to go there to check room. Comes to find out they never pulled sheets back to see blanket. Never called me back to apologize told me l have to wait 7 to 14 days to get my money back. I recommend that you take a picture of your room before you check out. I Should have known something was wrong l was the only person that rented a hotel room for 2 day stay.

The room was decent. It had a separate area for bedroom, and a little living room area with a couch, tv, and table. Almost like a little apatment. And they allow dogs, which is why we stayed there. Three miles away from Cedar Point. Continental breakfast was not very good, but other than that, I would stay there again.

The hotel was great for the one night we needed to stay in town. The room was outdated and the bathroom was very small, but it served its purpose. The breakfast in the morning was also nice, but the options were limited.

Very nice place to stay, friendly staff, rooms were kept clean, beds were comfortable (little smaller) linens were all fresh and clean. One of the nicest places we have stayed for a reasonable rate in Sandusky. We even extended our stay.

Family trip to Cedar point. We checked in at South Shore at 2 am after driving for hours! The receptionist was extremely welcoming, gave us some bottles of water and made sure we had all we needed before we retired for the night. Check out was at 11, breakfast area is small but had pretty good food. They even had a water slide at the pool! Will definitely stay here again.

We stayed at South Shore Inn after a day spent at Cedar Point. We were only staying one night so we didn't need a super fancy hotel. The room was clean, with clean sheets on the bed. The double bed was a little smaller than we are used to, but for one night it was fine. The front desk staff was super friendly when we checked in (even at almost midnight). The hotel was close to the park, took us about five minutes to get there, and it was easy to find. A big plus when you are tired from a long day riding the roller coasters. There was a pool and hot tub, we didn't use it but it looked nice. I would definitely stay here again the next time we visit the park and would recommend it to anyone.

The hotel was nice and clean. It was a good value for the money. They provided a free breakfast of cereal, toast, and bagels, nothing warm. The pool was also very nice. Our kids loved the water slides. It was only 2 minutes away from Cedar Point which was very convenient.

My family stayed here 7/26/16 after a long day at cedar point. I was so tired and couldn't wait to fall asleep at least so I thought. The walls at this place must be made of paper mache. I swear the walls are paper thin. I mean we heard everything and I mean EVERYTHING if you know what I mean. The room right behind our t. V. Had sex twice. You could hear every moan and groan and spanking of her ass. You can hear detailed conversations. And that's just from seating from our beds. Never once did we get up to listen closely, you didn't need to. I even tried to use the fan in the room but it never got loud enough to drown out any noise at all. I then had to turn back on the t. V. Hoping that would work but I still couldn't get any sleep from the t. V. Being on. It was too late at night to go ask for another room. For the most part the room was clean even though my daughter found a cheetos under the bed and a food wrapper behind the fridge. So if your the type that can sleep through anything then this hotel is for you but if you want to get some good sleep and sounds like people taking showers dropping the soap or people having all kinds of sex keeps you awake all night then don't stay at this hotel. Plus the Wi-Fi there sucked. We couldn't keep a connection at all. Oh and I tried to charge my phone while using it and a warning sign came on for me to immediately discharge my phone from this outlit. It was so hot I had to drop it. That's never happened to me ever.

The grounds are beautiful and well groomed. The room was very clean, not spotless, but fine. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Excellently located near Cedar Point. Overall, a very happy experience.

Great hotel for the money. CLEAN! Good AC in the room. Under 10 min to cede point gate. Would recommend for other families or couples.

Made a reservation online the night before, was charged for the room & everything. However when I arrived we were not in their computer. Had to stand there for 30 minutes while they tried to figure out what to do, just to be told that they have no open rooms and will refund my money. I had to find another hotel last minute. Unacceptable.

The bather ceiling was moldy. They painted the ceiling a dark color so I didn't notice it until the we had stayed a couple nights. When I checked out I asked for some sort of compensation and was told they couldn't do anything for us.

Great location. They have a centrally located pool and free Wi-Fi. The staff was really helpful and friendly. My only complaint is that my room smelled musty. Other than that I really enjoyed my stay here.

Great location if you plan on going to Cedar Point, and within a 5 minute drive to dining locations and gas pumps/convenience stores. The hotel was clean, up to date and equipped with standard amenities. However the quality of these amenities were poor to substandard; Wi-Fi was practically unusable, TV service was poor (would often disconnect), and when it came to the heater/AC and shower they were just plan disappointing. The bed and sheets were comfortable, receptionist were helpful and kind, and the hotel itself had a comfortable atmosphere. Great for a one night stay. Would stay here again.

Great customer service, great value, convenient location.

If I could give this place zero stars I would. We drove from kings island and arrived to the hotel at 2am and the front desk receptionist informed me that someone else checked into my room. The issue wasn't resolved for 20minutes as the receptionist talked on the phone with (presumably) someone else in charge of the hotel. When I made the reservation I was told to bring I. D. And the card I paid with as confirmation. The person who checked in my room not provide any form of I. D. Because the receptionist did not ask for anything. My room was given away and that person stayed the night in my room. I was offered a "better room", although I can't judge because I have no idea what my original room was supposed to be like. The lack of motivation to solve the mystery of who is checked in my room was my bigger concern. It was very unprofessional to give my room away when my money paid for that room. Had there been no rooms left, what would have been the solution? I am incredibly dissatisfied and I am working with the booking site to find a resolution, they definetly did not deserve my money. The room itself was pretty outdated and other guests reviews matched my experience as far as the look of the room.

The pillows were comfy and the bed was okay. It was not too hard. However, there was no fridge in the hotel.

The South Shore Inn is one of the cheaper places to stay in Sandusky, and that is clearly evident from the rooms — they're not the most updated, the TV was an old CRT-style set with a remote confusingly hardwired into the alarm clock. All that being said, for the price of the room, we found it to be clean and with a very large jacuzzi tub. The in-hotel restaurant also had tasty quick bar food.

I do not recommend this hotel to anyone. I booked a room through their own website and received a confirmation email. When we got to the hotel they had our information but told us they had no rooms. The manager wouldn't even look at the email I received and insisted it was our fault for using a 3rd party site such as Travelocity to book. Again, I know for a fact I did NOT use a 3rd party site. I wasn't even upset about them not having a room but more so about how the manager was unwilling to realize that their website is flawed. When I booked the room it showed they had a king room and 2 room suite available. Also, if they had our information and knew we booked a room when they had none, they could have at least called or emailed to let us know they didn't have anything so we had an opportunity to find something else. One of our friends did end up getting a room here and let us pay her for it since she could stay with her parents near by. The room was surprisingly nice given the experience we had beforehand, although there were some old goldfish snack crackers under the bed and the shower has no pressure. While we were waiting to figure out the room situation there was another family that arrived and the room they booked was nothing like what they were told they were booking. Another time a family came in and a worker tried to take them up to a room to show them and she couldn't even get in the room.

We stayed 2 nights on our recent trip to Cedar Point. The rooms were clean, beds were super comfortable. Very, very pleased! Will definitely return.

My family of 6 stayed here in the 3 room suite for our trip to Cedar Point, and we loved our stay. You can tell that the hotel has some age but it is very well maintained and very clean. We all enjoyed the outdoor pool and jacuzzi, and especially liked that it was open untill midnight. The only thing that I will say bad about the place is that I would not pay for the breakfast buffet that they offer in the attached restaurant. It is worse than most continental breakfast that are offered at other hotels for free and definitely not worth the $6.95 that they're asking. We fell for it once but will not do it again. Other than that, it's a great place to stay and also very affordable.

This hotel was absolutely the WORST. The staff was extremely rude. We booked double rooms online and then got there to check in to find out the rooms were at opposite ends of the building, When we had called a week before to double check everything was still good to go and it was fine then. So she gave us a set side by side because some other guests hadn't showed yet. The first thing was that the toilet did not flush unless you took the top off and manually flushed it. Then proceeding to shower the water was either way too hot or cold. No happy medium. The wall paper was peeling and one of the beds was broken, when you sat on the bottom of the bed the bed came up off the plywood frame. Also the sheets had a Mysterious stain. Do yourself a favor and spend the extra $ and drive a bit farther for a nicer place where you don't have to question if the place has bed bugs or not.

Okay… so right from the start you can tell you get what you pay for. You walk in the room and notice the dingy (probably once white but now yellowish comforter), upon further inspection of the bed you may notice a mysterious stain and maybe even have a breathe right strip fall out of your bed. Looking around the room, you see the wallpaper hanging on for dear life in mutiple spots. Going into the bathroom you may find a few suspicious hairs and even a toilet that doesn't flush! The showers have sketchy soap dispensers that look like they are never changed (hopefully because they are always avoided) and the water is either freezing or boiling. But hey the A/C worked so what's it matter. But you don't have to walk in to the room so see all this. Any passer-by can perfectly see through the huge crack in the curtain that goes right to the mirror to see in your room and even you, sleeping in plain site. You should definitely avoid this place unless you want more thrills after a day at cedar point.

For the price and proximity to Cedar Point, you can't beat it. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. Even though we spent most of our time at Cedar Point, the kids did use the pool a couple times and loved it.

Very clean room. We stayed in a two room suite there was a dining table mini fridge and microwave. They also have an on site laundry room. The pool and hot tub we're nice and my kids loved the slides. It is not a fancy place but it is a great economical choice. It is also super close to the causeway to cedar point. There is not a complimentary breakfast, but they offer a breakfast buffet ($6.95 for adults and $4.95 for children) We went to McDonald's instead. All the other guest were families. Overall a great stay!

An hour after check in, we had a guest say some inappropriate comments to my wife. Went to the front desk and gave our key back, we didnt feel safe being there anymore. After I explained the situation to the owner, she refused any refund or even an apology. Bad bad bad.

Nice place to stay near Cedar Point. The kids loved the pool. The staff was over-the-top helpful and friendly. Sandy from housekeeping was wonderful! This hotel is VERY lucky to have her.

We typically do not write reviews, but felt like our stay required a review. The South Shore Inn was the second hotel that we stayed at on our trip. First we stayed at a La Quinta Inn, which was very nice, clean, and cheaper. The third hotel was a Best Western in Louisville, KY. This hotel was also very nice and cheaper. First off, the hotel tells us that there is no continental breakfast; we haven’t stayed at a hotel ever that didn't have something for breakfast. Secondly, our room smelled musty the whole time. We went out and purchased some air freshener to try and mask the odor. The third issue we had was the fact; the room was out dated and not what they show in their photos on line. We paid a total of 133.00 with tax for the room and felt like it was with around 60.00. The other two hotels that were much nicer were right around 100.00 a night and both had a hot breakfast.

Its an OLD hotel that seriously needs updating. No coffee in room, no clock in room, toilet made noise all night, carpet was wet. beds small. Its clean and the staff were nice. I'd thought food was included but. Nope. There's just coffee in the lobby. Their Restaurant shut down. The only good thing is the location. (Very Close to Cedar Point) I'd pick this if there is nothing else available.

Stayed here for a week in Aug 2013. It was perfect for us (5 people). The 2 room suite was great, my sister in law stayed in the queen side on the murphy bed, my son on the wide (futon-like) couch, my daughter and I shared a queen and my husband had a queen bed to himself (big guy). It was clean and modern. The front room had a TV, kitchenette set-up: granite counters, college sized fridge, small bar sink, over this a microwave and shelving for our snacks and breakfast stuff. The back room (bedroom) had a TV, 2 queen sized beds, desk, and a large vanity with sink, in between both rooms was a connecting bathroom with two doors, one in the living-room area and one in the bedroom area. It was really nice and the maids did a great job everyday giving us lots of towels and keeping it clean! We didn't use the pool, but it is really close to Cedar Point's entrance road. Great stay for a great price (around $800).

When looking to book a hotel for our trip to Cedar Point — Reviews were what was most important, because it was direct from the consumer. When we arrived to the South Shore Inn the Staff were very friendly — the entire building smelled wonderful. The entry area was clean and free of clutter and trash. The First thing I checked when getting to our room is the beds, furniture and near the outlets for any indication of bed bugs. After stripping both beds and checking the furniture there Were NO bugs. The room was very clean. The air worked wonderfully. Also the room had a mini fridge, which came in handy! South Shore Inn also has a little game room with a microwave, just in case anyone would need a microwave for anything. I would certainly recommend staying at the South Shore Inn. (we stayed from 7-30-2013 through 08-02-2013).

This place was FANTASTIC! The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, the jacuzzi and pool are kept wonderfully clean, and the staff are all pleasant and helpful. We really enjoyed staying here.
