New owner is starting some major upgrades. Have to because old owners left a mess not only with the property but with reputation
Recreation center and pools all rebuilt and beautiful. 101 of 150 campsites all upgraded, and many more sites to come
Motel and restaurant and more of the cabins coming after major remodeling
New management is friendly!

Great experience was a warm welcoming! Gave us a care package staff fantastic! Great place loads tp do for all ages!

Does this review come with negative stars?! In 2009, my boyfriend and I went to Erie Islands on a Groupon. Ultimately we were sold a bill of goods, false promises and a bunch of lies! We should have ran when Joan, the manager, treated us like we were an inconvenience. Stupidly, we bought into the timeshare only to find out that "You must be stupid to believe what you are told! " according to Joan. We financed the timeshare partially through credit that they extended us and the rest through a credit card they opened for us. After several attempts to make accommodations at the resort, (with the price that we were quoted) there was always several excuses as to why those units were not available. On the two occasions that we were finally able to reserve a unit there were upcharges that we were never informed of prior to booking… linen charge, Wi-Fi charge and cleaning charge. We realized that this place was not what we expected. We tried NUMEROUS times to contact Joan (the manager) and were always promised a return call. The one time that she graced us with her callback, she was rude, condescending and the farthest from professional. Fastforward, three years, we have not been back to that deplorable place… unkempt accommodations, broken equipment and poor service. I hope this review helps people think twice before considering going to Erie Islands!

This place is the biggest joke ever! We stayed three nights over Labor day weekend in the campground. Their website is FALSE IADVERTISING! Hardly anything that they say they have is either "closed for scheduled maintenance" or was just plain not there. The inside pool was cold, the hot tub was cold, the sauna was closed for "scheduled maintenance". The outside pool was only filled half way up. Weeds growing every where. Wasps nests everywhere, including the electric boxes, not to mention all of the mosquitos at night. So many that you couldn't sit outside at night. It's clear that they don't spray for them. The isle ways are pitch black, no lighting at all. Very unsafe! No one is ever in the "security office". Always have to call the number for someone to meet you. Never saw any security guards the entire time of our stay. Linda is the one that checked us in and gave us fancy little paper bracelets to wear in the "rec" center. Not sure what that was all about. No one there to check them. We stayed in section "A". Over from where our sites were there was a fenced in area with a blue tarp over the fence except one side that the wind blew off. We asked a worker what it was and he said that he was told it was a "pond under construction". We took a walk over and read the signs that was posted on the tarp and it stated that it was under investigation. It was a burned up RV camper with the charred remains. That was VERY creepy!

STAY AWAY** These positive reviews are lies. They act as if this "resort" is high class, it's dirty, outdated and always dead. Don't waste your money here at all! Keep moving… The grounds are not kept up with, trash everywhere, the pool is nasty, trash all over, high prices for nothing, campground is in terrible shape and no one camps there. You've been warned!

Disgusting, filthy campground. Not a 'resort' at all! Pool was so dirty with things floating in it, I was afraid for our health. Bottom was slimy green. Kids had to dodge bugs and spiders, along with white stuff floating in it. Life guard admitted the pump and skimmer were broke, but pool was still open! One of the owners, Dick, said "big deal" when he heard complaints about the pool. To top it off they charged people an extra $10 per person, each day, to swim in the filthy pool! Mens bathroom flooded and toilets don't flush. Old dog poop all over the playground. Restaurant is closed, hot tub and sauna are closed, mini golf is torn down. No firewood for sale, they thought it was an odd question, lol. Ponds are all scumed up, haven't been treated for a long time, causing swarms of mosquitos. Time share holders told us they are getting a lawyer. Linda, one of their main workers, was rude and afraid of management. Joan the manager gave us the finger and told us to F*** off when we left upset about our stay, and asked for a receipt. Best part, the Health Department was there when we left! They are obviously going to get fined and probably shut down soon.

This place seems like it used to be great. The management is very rude and price gouging — 10$ per person per day to use any of the facilities on the resort in addition to overpriced camping costs — and many of the facilities are closer look or open during very limited hours. Putt putt course is gone, horseshoe and volleyball courts are overgrown. Most of the toilets were "closed for maintenance" and every dumpster was overflowing with garbage. Beautiful land, just poor upkeep and management. Will not be coming back.

We belonged to the resort for about 20 Yrs. We have paid an enormous amount of money over the years. Now they tell us were SCREWED. I am going to pursue legal action. We have been riped off big time. Not Happy. Anyone who has had the same thing happen To them we should get together and start a class action lawsuit. We have been ripped off big time. I'm not going to stand for it.

Save your $$$ money don't stay here! It's not worth it. Worst vacation ever! There website is fake, nothing like the photos. Just check it out before you check in. I was there one nite and checked out found a nicer and cheaper resort thank GOD! South beach resort is much nicer and half the cost!

I'm having issues with a membership and they will not help me. I've caked for 2 months and still nothing. I get ahold of someone at the desk. But she says no one is there to help me. So that big pave is run by one person at a desk that can't help you with anything. Good job taking people's money then not doing anything to help.

My husband and I went through a tour back in May of 2011. We told them that we were only intersted in the unit because of the activities for the kids. We purchased the cheepest package of timeshare. It was to come with RCI access for the first year. We did not receive this. Instead, they took out the putt putt course, have the pool over filled, and when you go into the ladies restroom you about break your neck from the water causing you to slid across the floor. Next, we were told that if wanted a week at a unit there onsite it would cost only $100. However don't bother to make a reservation. As we have tried even 6 months in advance and get told nothing was available. Then, A year after our membership we get a call that we needed to come in to have our membership card updated. We scheduled the appointment, went in, and get told that due to an error on their end that they forgot to send in our ;RCI membership. We filled out the new paperwork for RCI, and was told that our membership should be ready in a couple weeks from RCI. After 3 months nothing came. I placed a call into the Manager and received no call back until after the 5th call. They finally corrected the RCI, but we got screwed. They shorted us on the 2011 points we were to receive and only gave us our 2012. So now we are trying to trade points for a vacation and can't until this issue is resolved. UGG! Buyer beware, Run the other way!

Just had a superb week at EIRM! The place is so beautiful and peaceful. I love staying at this waterfront place and have been coming here for 25 yrs. Yes things around here have changed and for the better! The staff has kept up with grounds and let me tell you, this place has a lot of green space. From sunrise to sunset the wildlife is active and fun to watch. My accommodations was everything and more. Clean, well stocked and beautiful. My father started this adventure years ago and recently passed away but I will forever have the most wonderful memories of him as this was his little piece of heaven away from home. Thank you for the memories and I look forward to making more at my Erie Island Resort! Beth and her crew!

Ithis resort is not clean personnel are very nasty, rule they can say what they want to say and it's ok it was misrepresented about the how we can fish husband got a ticket because when I sign they told me we could fish anywhere as lone as we were on their land. I had to argue with the general manager anout 8 ticket thst was due to me. She slam the door in my face. She was very rule to a 16 girl. I ask fir a apologies didn't get it. I apologize to the lady that she that rule about getting a ticket for fishing. So now tell someone who's buying or brought a time share can be disrespect because she is the general manager?

We purchased a timeshare in the resort several years ago. I will keep this short, because it is the same thing many many other people have gone through. The person that sold us the property grossly misrepresented what we were purchasing. The resort is horribly kept, staff is rude and provides bad service after purchase. We were lied to about maintenance fees, availability, usage, you name it. The office manager actually told me that they could lie about anything they wanted because the written contract was all that mattered. When we had finally had enough, we decided we wanted to cancel our membership. No can do… they make you pay 4000 to take back the timeshare. This wreaks of scam to me, but it seems that our lawmakers are failing to protect the citizens that pay their salaries. Hopefully, the laws will change to keep this kind of outrageous business from being allowed in the future. It is sad that the property is so bad that you have to pay to get rid of it. Timothy 6:10

Horrible place to deal with will never go back. Was hoping to have a dream wedding reception there went in for a consultation was supposed to get back with us but the manager Joan won't return our numerous calls or emails she is one of the worst managers I have ever dealt with. I would rather have a reception at chuckie cheese than give these people my money.

Wish you could put a negative # of stars — the place is just not what they sell it to be when they bring you in and once they get a hook in you — they do not let go — so run, run as fast as you can.

Poor service, rec center hours change randomly without notice. The pool is closed every day from 1pm to 5pm even on the weekends.

I use to come to this place with my family 20 years ago, and we always had a blast! We stopped going once the new owners took over, because they scam, lie, and cheat people! It is disappointing and disgusting how this place has changed! This place use to be clean, and friendly atmoshere! I took my 2 kids over a couple of yrs ago "thinking" it would be better — worse was more like it! Rude staff, horrible food, and very dirty! They would call & harass my mom (several others we know with memberships) about wanting more $$$! Seriously I hope that no one ever pays for a membership to this place!
