Review of Landoll's Mohican Castle 4*

If your pivotal advertisement is going to be that Gordon Ramsay showcased your world class menu, then you better deliver and you failed to do that. You may even want to invite him back. We arrived early for our reservation and the hostess seemed rushed to seat us. I explained to her that I knew we were early and we were not in a hurry. We reviewed the drink menu at the bar and were seated shortly thereafter. A waitress came over and introduced herself and took our drink orders. The mixed drinks were terrible and sent back for beers and we then seemed to have a mix of three waitresses. The service was prompt, but impersonal and hurried. When the food came out, the presentation was decent, but nothing to write home about. Portion sizes were sufficient, but the food lacked world class taste. The Delmonico tasted like it was cooked on a flat iron grill or a pan, the sprouts were bland, the Walleye was unremarkable the only good things I heard from our party of six was the horseradish mashed were amazing and the salmon was good. Save your time with the zucchini chips, they are not worth the price, but the sauce was great. I drove 3 hours to meet my family that drove 2 hours to meet me. I thought we were at the best place in the area, but could not have been more disappointed. The atmosphere was lacking, the food was below average for the price and the service was mediocre. I wasn't expecting The Capital Grille, but I was hoping at least for better than Applebee's. It seems as though this place is geared more towards weddings and large groups. The walk to the restaurant was confusing, we were walking through a wedding party, in which I heard someone say, "Who are these people? " Not to mention, having to walk through people smoking cigars on the patio, I am pretty sure they weren't 30 feet from the entrance, a serious concern when you have two asthmatics with you. Nice website and great advertisement, but I would not return.
