Tried to check in at 1130. Called when I pulled into a parking garage and was advised that the person would be coming down to let us in. No one ever showed up. I called back and explained no one had come down. I was told someone did and we weren't in the right spot. I explained where we were and was told it was the wrong spot. I explained I called the number from the sign posted in the locked garage. The front desk person began screaming at me for several minutes before I hung up and called back only to get the same person who continued to scream at me. I asked to speak to someone else and the phone was passed to someone who was calmer who explained where we were supposed to park. I told her there were no signs mentioning hyatt that all signs say private custom house only. She stated yes and to go to the valet garage. I went to tye valet garage only for the 2 women to refuse to let me in or provide their names. I advised I would go ahead and call corporate about the ordeal. The one lady picked the phone back up and said my name is Kenya and hung up. Had already paid for the non-refundable room in advance. There were several people around the outside of the hotel who appeared to be high and several sleeping on the sidewalk. Just abhorrent to treat people this way.

Housekeeping cuts corners! We found a container of Human ashes, literally w a label marked "Human Remains of Ahmir Phelps"in our dresser drawer. If housekeeping doesn't open the dresser drawer… what else don't they do? Informed the staff, they had me email a picture to managers, no follow up 4 days and counting.

This Hyatt is my favorite hotel in all of St Paul! It belongs with the best of the best in 2021. Everything is clean and thoughtfully laid out with soft bedding, nice sofas, a kitchen table, fridge, sink, counter space, cupboards and TV's in every room. Even the small rooms are spacious! The one and only complaint I'd have is that my room did not have a bathtub but the amazing and natural tiled shower was solid. They have preserved the history of the building and yet it feels fresh, luxurious and new but with some natural touches as well! There are signs of being sort of eco friendly in the bathroom products. That made me feel safe and at home. The standard here leans more natural that other hotels I've stayed at and that's important to me for my skin and diet sensitivities. I'd assume the chemicals used to clean and launder are cleaner here because I was not adversely affected by anything which drastically affects everything including the air quality! It is what I'd describe to my family as a "very very nice place". I really appreciated everything about the hotel including the staff. I would expect this kind of service and satisfaction to continue for many years into the future of this hotel as it seems like an amazing concept and hotel chain all in all. Thank you, Hyatt! One of the quietest and cleanest hotels I’ve ever stayed in.

Great place to stay! Fun being in the old post office as I used that post office for 15 years. Great customer service too! I do think it would be nice if they had a great restaurant inside the place though as people would eat there from around town, not just those staying at the hotel. The food they have I was told by staff is basically frozen and re-heated meals.

My family stayed here this weekend, and after about 3 hrs in hour room we noticed a Bed Bug on the curtain. We ended up moving rooms, but it was definitely hard to sleep thinking about potential bugs in the room. But none of the staff would know we slept awful… because no one bothered to check back on us even out of courtesy. It was disappointing especially at the cost you pay for the room.

Amazingly kind and helpful staff, GORGEOUS & SPACIOUS rooms (that are super clean and quiet), great location (you are close to everything in lower-town St Paul, but also 2 minute walk away from the train that can take you everywhere), delicious & varied breakfast.
I am pleasantly surprised by the outstanding quality of this hotel (& tbh I am super picky). Well-done!

My grandson had himself a blast swimming. Tired him out… good service from friendly people.

We had little hiccup with check-in and the keys not working properly, front desk was quick to fix the issue. Hotel room booked was not the room I got, but still a very nice room regardless. Room was spacious, vaulted ceilings, and very nice amenities. Breakfast options were amazing, only downfall was the lack of plates and cups. For the price booked I would definitely stay again, just would like a heads on changes to my room in advance next time.

Such a cool, historical place to stay! Breakfast is awesome, rooms are modern, clean, and have high ceilings and windows, staff was more than helpful, and you’re right by Union Depot (start of the green line) so you have the whole twin cities one train ride away. I really can’t say enough good about this hotel! Will be staying again.

What an amazing place to stay! Friendly staff, great breakfast, comfy rooms with huge windows to enjoy the St. Paul skyline, and I always love staying in places with historical value. Just had a problem with valet that had our vehicle out on the street with the windows open even though we never called for it. Good thing we caught it but I won’t knock any points for that. Still an awesome place. We’ll be back I’m sure!

Very cool hotel. Used to be a large post office, and they kept a lot of the same style. Ceilings are high and rooms are spacious and nicely designed. Free breakfast (though you should skip it and hit The Buttered Tin a couple blocks from there), and for the price it's hard to beat.

Very unique adaptation of historic customs building for meetings and staying. Loved the totally great unique (yes, used that word again) room, window setting, etc. Large, comfortable. Staff anxious to please, if a bit harried during busy times.

Beautiful spacious rooms in an old post office building. Close to the river and lovely walkways. Good breakfast options daily. Architecturally it's a very unique place and interesting… the ceilings are super high!

First… the parking is horrible! They have valet but only one person working during the 3pm check in time! Only 4 spots open and you have to check in before the guy will take your car. Front desk people were very friendly but I could tell not well trained. Stopped at the bar in the evening and stood there for 10 minutes hoping to get service but completely ignored. Good thing no emergency because the phones in the room are NOT user friendly. No helpful info in the room about the hotel… like where can you find ice?

Best place to stay in the St. Paul area! Rooms are amazing with massive windows, super high ceilings, nice sized bathroom with walk in shower. Highly recommend! Staff is the friendly and helpful.

This hotel is AWESONE! It is so spacious. High ceilings, wide halls, big rooms with sitting area, 2-sink bathrooms, and more. The breakfast is good (eggs, bacon, pancakes, oatmeal. ) and the style of the hotel is interesting. It used to be an old post office & customs building. It has been refurbished, but still has traces of the original structure. The staff is friendly and the bar serves great drinks (and they don't skimp on the alcohol). The location is easy access to downtown, the Science Center, and HWY 94. Highly recommend!

Hotel with several issues Last year we stayed in the same hotel for a yearly conference and everything was amazing. This year — not so much. The hotel checked us out on our 3rd night of a 4 night stay. Other than the obvious issues (keys no longer worked, no towels, same dirty coffee cup left in the coffee maker for 3 days — see pic), our room was only clean 1 of the 4 days. Also, using the word "clean" is probably not correct. When I addressed the issue of “early checkout” with the front desk, there was a “oh well” attitude. Really? This is ur fault. I will say the breakfast is pretty awesome — probably the best free breakfast you could get. Good job there. Plus, the gym is great. For next years conference — not likely to return to this hotel.

When we got here our room was already booked. The staff bent over backwards to help eventually putting us in another suite and giving us a discount. They even tracked down a shower chair for me. I was so appreciative. The shower products smell so good! The room was clean, they have 30ft ceiling and windows, and to my amusement you can control the curtains with a control panel! There was a huge kitchen area in our suite, large bedroom, large bathroom, TV in the dining, living, and bedroom, DELICIOUS breakfast with waffles, eggs, sausages, fruits, and more. Honestly the best hotel I have ever been to. I will definitely stay here again when I am in St Paul!

I loved the vintage look of the hotel, but with modern, renovated rooms. I’ve never seen hotel rooms with as high ceilings as Hyatt Place St. Paul. The rooms were by far my favorite part of our stay. The free breakfast was really good and the fitness was just what you needed. The only let downs was the lack of self-parking and the pool; which is a little on the small side and lacking a hot tub.

I wanted to move in once I got there! I loved that it was in an historic building. The rooms are amazingly large and comfortable. The super high ceilings are very cool! Very friendly staff, nice to have free breakfast. I parked in the public lot across the street, which ran $17 overnight. Only downside was that the huge windows let in a lot of light in the morning (and the huge draperies can be hard to close from way down there! ) So bring your eye mask if you want a good snooze.

My husband and I were surprised to see such beautiful high celeilings! The bathroom was spacious too! The free breakfast was very enjoyable. Small pool, so we didn't go swimming, but it didn't bother us. The only thing missing was a microwave in the room. Overall, we'd go back for sure!

The rooms are HUGE and super clean. All the staff were really friendly and polite. The breakfast was good. The only thing is I would recommend to guests staying is to park across the street at union depo. It was only $4 to leave overnight on a Friday compared to the 21 for valet parking through the hotel.

Huge clean rooms and the friendliest staff in Minnesota. The staff made our visit to St. Paul perfect. Great lobby and a bar with light fare, perfect for waiting for the next train. The desk held our bags all day, even after we had checked out, until our we head to leave for our evening train. It's located just next door to Union Depot and convenient to the Amtrak, light rail, and buses.

Amazing and unique. Freshly renovated post office building with a lot of character. Does not feel like a standard hotel as all rooms have very high ceilings. It's unusual in that the hotel has large hallways as opposed to other hotels which fill every available inch of space with rooms.

Loved this hotel. We had a king suite and it was HUGE. The whole place is modern and redone but there are still vintage touches like the tile in the dining room and some original doors throughout. One of the coolest hotels I've ever stayed in.

I had to visit St. Paul for a very quick business event. I called the hotel a couple days before to confirm my reservation and ask about transportation options between the airport and the hotel. They put me in touch with a driver who not only picked me up at the airport but met me at my meeting the next day to take me back. The hotel itself is magnificent in its art deco glory. (I learned later that the hotel used to be the post office. ) Insanely high (14'+) ceilings, spacious room, huge bathroom, and a large comfortable bed — — plus a great view of the Mississippi out my window. Sat and had a burger at the bar after checking in — — the burger was good, the chatter was friendly. This was not a trip I was looking forward to, and the Hyatt Place truly took the edge off and left me with a fantastic feeling about St. Paul.

I was blown away by the quality of my room while staying here. Very high class. Also, the location is perfect, with easy access to quite a few bars and restaurants which are only a few blocks away. I'd definitely recommend this hotel to any friends looking to stay in the area.

Extremely welcoming staff! The room, suite upgrade that we were in we never wanted to leave! It was huge! Walls of windows and all the creature comforts you could ask for! Excellent place to stay in the area! Well done!

Everything was absolutely lovely in this hotel. Rooms are huge and clean, hallways are clean, valet efficient, front desk super capable and helpful. Only recommendation is to label the entrance better or have a large sign against the building to identify to hotel. I missed the building and ended up having to go down so many streets to get back it made me late for an event.

Great suite with a view of the 1st Bank building and downtown buildings. Very comfortable room, but a bit cavernous. The kitchen was not supplied with any plates, silverware, or even a bottle opener — this is my only complaint. Nice breakfast with a sunny, open dining area. My daughter loved staying on the pull out couch with a ridiculously huge TV! We would stay again. It was an easy walking distance from our downtown destination.

Extremely disappointed. I booked our stay several months in advance, because we splurged on VIP concert tickets for my birthday. Hotel check in time starts at 3:00, we arrived a little after 4:30 and we're told it would be about a 15-20 min wait for our room to be ready. So we sat down by the bar area to order food. It took about 15 minutes for anyone to even acknowledge that we were there, then when we were finally able to order food we asked if they could have it delivered …to our room since we were told it would only be a few more minutes, but they said "we don't do that, you'll have to come back down and get it". But it didn't end up mattering because our food took over an hour just like our room. When our room was finally ready it was a quarter to 6. The 15-20 minute wait ended up taking over an hour causing us to be late for our event and nearly missing it all together (we made it to the last 20 mins of the 2 hour pre-show party). (The building is beautiful except for the names written in permanent marker, and handprints on the headboard. ) — — — — — Fast forward to after the show… again it took over an hour for 2 burgers and a personal pizza. They don't have actual room service, it's basically takeout, if you want a menu you have to go down to the bar and bring it to your room, then call to order, then go back down and pick it up. I expected much better service when our room was nearly $300/night.

Beautiful and unique. Incredibly high ceiling in the room. Feels very spacious! Pleasant staff. I loved the scent of the towels (It might seem like an odd comment, but I strongly dislike when towels smell like bleach), as they did not smell like bleach! The gym was a bit too warm. Would certainly stay here again.

Great location and very friendly staff. Rooms are large and quite comfortable. The bed and sleep quality are also quite nice. The breakfast is varied each morning and everything I had was good. There are also plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

This is a globally unique version of a Hyatt Place hotel. Being located in a very historic building (the post office building built in 1934) many physical attributes needed to be left in place, unaltered, or at least preserved if moved. Thus, many of the usual amenities of a Hyatt hotel had to be changed slightly to accomodate the historic environment. That said, this is a beautiful, unique hotel design that gives a reverent nod to the historic architecture of the building. A must-see for history buffs.

Beautiful hotel in a wonderful location! The rooms were spacious with a modern look and really high ceilings. Disappointingly, the room I was given, along with the rest of the 5th floor, has an obstructed view because of a wall outside the windows. As well, parking was valet only and fairly expensive, but I just parked across the street for much cheaper. Despite this, I'd still highly recommend this hotel!

This hotel is stellar, with super clean and amazing suites. The ceiling height in our suite is so neat, and really adds dimension to the room, as well as an airy openness that we loved. The staff is kind and hard working. Valet was worth it, with unlimited in and out privileges. Would absolutely recommend to anyone wanting a great place to stay in St. Paul.

Nice big, interesting rooms, pleasant staff. Good breakfast included with room (though items run out on weekends — they need to fix this). Very quiet area. No restaurants or stores within 3 blocks. But a nice walking area. Tip: skip the $22/night valet parking and park your car yourself across the street for a fraction of the cost ($4/night on weekends).

Converted from the 1934 Customs House, this Hyatt Place has tall ceilings everywhere, wide hallways, and spacious rooms. More old buildings should be renovated like this! The night I was here, the cost was relatively inexpensive, which I realized was to make up for the (necessary) valet parking. But the valet was v polite, and parking is just across the road, so your car is accessible. Breakfast was excellent, and the tables are set a little wider apart than normal. There is a table of three children under the age of 6 next to me as I type, and between the distance and the carpeting, I hardly notice their chatter. The hotel is only floors 1-6, above are private apartments. (Extracted from a newspaper article on the new building: The 17-story building has ties to the earliest days of St. Paul. It’s located on the site of the old steamboat landing on the north bank of the Mississippi River and on the very block where Henry Jackson, the city’s first American settler, set up shop as postmaster in the 1840s. The current Art Deco building was the brainchild of Charles Moose, who served as postmaster in the 1920s, as a combined space for regional post office and customs operations, as well as a base for other federal agencies and offices. ) Again, the re-purposing of the building really makes a difference in the feel of the hotel — it is very airy and spacious, I can't get over how nice it is.

I stayed here after a concert at Xcel. It was a great place to crash after a concert. Definitely within walking distance on a night with good weather. Otherwise it's a really short ride down the road. Awesome breakfast the next morning.

Building has cool character. Huge rooms with extremely tall ceilings. Very clean with super friendly staff. Hot breakfast options in the morning. Kitchen open 24 hours with some great apps (that's all I can comment on as that's all my party tried)! Good location,

I quite enjoyed my stay here. Check in and check out were super efficient. I was pleasantly surprised by the room sizes. I stayed in a high floor, king bed room (5th floor), which had beautiful vaulted ceilings.

Spent my birthday here and absolutely LOVED it! Most accommodating hotel I have ever stayed at. I had a bottle of wine in my room to celebrate. The staff was so awesome! Especially jonelle at the front desk who mixed up some awesome drinks for us! The room itself was gorgeous and absolutely outstanding! Real coffee cups and water glasses! The best experience was with the staff though! They care about their customers more than anything! Love love LOVED it! Bar is open and there is valet.

Really nice room even though our rooms view was blocked off with part of the buildings tier. Unless you know where the hotel is, we passed it the first time due to lack of signage. Not the hotels problem as it's a historical landmark. We didn't realize parking wasn't included/in the building so our experience was affected by the unknown situations. Staff seemed friendly and even though they don't have room service they offer a 24 hr menu that had a good selection as long as you are ok coming down to get it.

What a beautiful hotel. Rooms are very spacious with high ceilings. The customer service was outstanding! Mike was by far the best I've experienced. He went above and beyond for all guests and I was amazed by his level of professionalism yet personalism. I would love to bottle up his energy! He made our stay fun and enjoyable. We will definitely be back!

Hyatt Place is amazing! The rooms are absolutely gorgeous and the staff is so friendly and accommodating. I stayed here two weeks for business and I couldn't have been happier. The complimentary breakfast is terrific and the light fare that is available all day is such a great option if you don't care to venture out in chilly St. Paul for dinner! Although I can only give 5 stars in this review I would give 10 if I could. Great staff!
