Murder Mystery Dinner was a lot of fun. Food was good, not great.

Cool old place with unique food, had a large group there and service was good. I liked the walleye very much, some others in the group thought the food was only ok. Cool views and history about the castle.

We have visited Raymond's Cabin at Spicer Castle Inn four times now and enjoy our stay every time! Beautiful property, wonderful staff! Can't wait to visit again! Delicious breakfast as well!

Rooms were small, but cozy and clean. Double jacuzzi tub and the fireplace were great. Service was warm and welcoming, and the breakfast was top notch. Only negative was that the mattress seemed old and saggy.

Our room was clean and cozy. The fireplace was lit bed was turned down. We did the murder mystery dinner. It was a 5 course fantastic 5star meal. The murder mystery was mind bending for everyone. All dinner guest had important parts and all were suspect. It was easy to follow and kept everyone's interest all the way to the end. The staff guided the mystery but the small dinner party played it out. None of us had been there before and only a couple had ever done anything similar. I was surprised at how well everyone got along and how easily the plot flowed. Everyone got their part of the scrip but we all added our own conversation and enjoined meeting each other along the way. We all came out with new friends. Breakfast on checkout day is at 9 fantastic 3 course breakfast. You can come over for coffee earlier if you feel like it or have it in your room. Check out is at 12 we had plenty of time to look around. The staff is great very friendly. This is a place to relax and distress for a weekend. You won't be dissapointed.

We had such a great experience! From the lady who kept me calm on the phone (trying to find the inn in a snowstorm! ), to Allen's wonderful stories, Jordan's hilarious banter, Lisa's dedication to trying to keep the paths and stairs shoveled (that darn snowstorm again), the service was awesome. The behind-the-scenes staff was amazing as well… I just didn't get their names! Our room (Russel's room) was gorgeous; the entire inn was cozy and full of interesting antiques. Happy hour in the lounge was very fun, and the murder mystery was a blast! I slept great, and breakfast was delish. I honestly can't thank you guys enough for such a wonderful time, and can't wait to visit again! Maybe a room with a Jacuzzi next time…

We had a fantastic time! The building is gorgeous and beautifully decorated, the staff was friendly, the food was good. We had a blast at the murder mystery dinner. We would definitely come back!

Unique experience. Original old house, pleasant staff, good food. We did the murder mystery and it was quite entertaining. Don't expect modern convenience-the house has small spaces, no tv, etc. But it's a beautiful retreat to relax. Thin walls in the main house.

Beautiful place, its delicious to be at the property's living room and listen the Allen's stories about the place and the area, excellent service and food.

We LOVED our experience at the Spicer Castle! We wanted our own space and stayed there for our wedding night — Raymond's Cabin was so cozy and just what we were looking for! The breakfast the next morning was incredible as well. We can't say enough! Can't wait to come back and stay again!

Absolutely lovely little castle get away. Perfect for someone who wants to get away from it all and learn the history of small town folk. I definitely recommended this place!

Beautiful view of the lake. Really enjoyed watching the sunset in the evenings. House and rooms are older, could use some TLC but overall it was a nice get away for a long weekend. Murder mystery was fun and the food was excellent!

Went for a murder mystery dinner/short stay. The dinner was tasty and the mystery was great fun. Room was clean, bed was very uncomfortable. With a mattress upgrade we would definitely visit again.

We visited with a few other couples and attended the Murder Mystery Dinner. It was a lot of fun. The rooms are rustic compared to hotel chains, but they were clean and we barely spent any time in our room — too much to do and see. The Murder Mystery was fun, but long and late. The food was excellent! The atmosphere was charming.

Had so much fun at a bachelorette party last weekend. The staff was awesome and the food was very, very good! The host made it very easy to understand our parts and made it very fun to play along! We did a 1920's theme but, from what I understand, they are many different story to be a part of! Would definitely recommend this for a small party for any occasion!

Walking in at 1130 and nobody was around till we started talking loudly. Only one table of guests there so not busy. Server seemed to always be in a hurry which made us all (party of 6) uncomfortable and also in a rush. Food was ok. We really didn't pay attention to our individual bills till after the fact… unreasonable cost. A plate of chicken Alfredo w no beverage came to over $18. Sure were not aware of the service charge. Walked around property and just seemed under kept. Party of 6 not going back.

Good food and very nice people. The murder mystery dinner was great fun, especially since we had only eight guests and it was easy to hear and get acquainted. The view of the lake is lovely and the patio where we had lunch was very pleasant. If I were just rating the food it would be a four or above. The three is due to the condition of the rooms. We stayed in the only room with a king-size bed that was really just two twins bolted together. The room was large, but had no closet. The window air conditioner was in need of repair or replacement with one of the controls missing and the other inoperative so it was either on full blast or unplugged to turn it off. The L-shaped bathroom was very tight in the toilet area with a claw-footed tub up two steps. Would certainly return for the mystery dinner, but would consider staying at another lodge close by.

Beautiful place! Very friendly staff, many services offered, and very historic but comfortable. Having the restaurant available for dinner was a nice option. The food was very good and reasonably priced.

The food and service were good. However there was an 18% service charge added to our bill (we were a party of four). My initial thought was that it was the gratuity. However that was not the case. I'm sure many people assume that it is and don't leave an additional gratutity. I asked our server about it and she indicated it was to cover credit card charges, bus boys, dishwashers, etc. She indicated she got only 2% of the 18 %. My feeling is that on small party the service charge should be built into the cost of the food. I did add an additional 20% tip but ended up with the feeling I doled out 38%. Bad practice on part of the restaurant.

We didn't stay here, only went for dinner. We sat inside rather than on the patio because it was hot outside. The inside had an odor but we decided to stay and give it a try. Food was mediocre at best, slow service, waitress didn't really check back with us once we were served. The outdoor area was fairly busy but inside wasn't so busy she couldn't have gotten back to our table. They automatically added an 18% tip to the bill (even with just 2 in our party). Perhaps knowing they are tipped regardless of service doesn't incentivise them to give good service. The only upside was they did take $10 off the bill because it was my husband's birthday. We have loved everything else about this town so far on our weekend visit.

Our group, 7 rooms, enjoyed the stay and the murder mystery. Staff is fantastic: friendly and accommodating. It is good to view each room to be sure it fits you, your family. Patio and grounds are inviting.

Was there with a group of others. Just have to say the food was good, but not impressed with the service. Had to ask for popovers that were supposed to come with meal. Also when the plates were brought the server mixed some of them up giving them to the wrong people. Was just about done with the main course and was then informed that we should have had a salad with the meal. This should have been provided prior to the main course. Then when the bill came the gratuity was automatically added to the bill at 18%. Way too high for the service we got won't be visiting again any time soon!

Our stay in Amy's room was a weekend to remember. The accommodations were cozy and clean, and we stayed cool despite the summer heat. We were busy with family commitments all weekend so we weren't able to eat at the restaurant, but the breakfast was phenomenal both days we stayed. They even made special arrangements for me a few times, since I'm lactose intolerant. We'll definitely be back!

My husband and I were blown away by our experience here. Absolutely wonderful! From the moment we walked in to the time we left we enjoyed wonderful hospitality. The staff was very friendly and made sure we were taken care of. The murder mystery dinner was fantastic and the food was phenomenal. So much fun! Spicer Castle is full of history and charm and worth every penny. We will definitely be coming back; hopefully for our anniversary in December :) Thanks for giving us a fabulous experience!

Our group of 8 loved our stay at the Spicer Inn! The staff was top notch, the food was top notch — way beyond expectation! The rooms were clean and my bed was very comfortable. I've slept on so many uncomfortable hard rock mattresses and this is the most important thing to me. It doesn't matter how fancy, or charming a place might be if the bed is uncomfortable. We even got to meet and talk with the owner Allen (grandson of Mr. Spicer). That was really neat. We were all very interested in the history of the home and the family. Allen told us a lot of great stories and is a very interesting person. That really enhanced our stay. We all highly recommend the Spicer Inn!

Beautiful scenery right on the gorgeous and huge green lake. The rooms are small but cozy, and the breakfast is good. The restaurant was not open, so we couldn't try it. Not a typical b&b, but nice.

We found out about Spicer Castle Inn via Google and put it on the list of places we wanted to visit. Our visit was a last minute decision and we're so glad we came here! I have nothing nothing NOTHING to complain about. Everything from the rooms to customer service to the food was outstanding. This place is definitely a gem. We'll now add this to our favorites list! Thanks to everyone at Spicer Castle Inn! We'll be back :)

I stay here for business travel too. The rates are reasonable. The staff is friendly and the beds are very comfortable. The shower is a bit of a challenge it's short. The food at the restaurant is very delicious! If you can't stay for the wonderful breakfast just let them know That check in they will pack a to go box. Can't wait to try the Mystery dinner.

Went there for my birthday was the best meal I ever hàd. The service was four stars ànd the edible orchid made me feel like I wàs dining in New York. Thanks for making my birthday the most memorable one I have ever hàd.

We did the murder mystery dinner and stayed overnight in February. The place is well maintained, clean and gorgeous. The views are exceptional and there are a lot of outdoor activities to do in this area any season. The murder mystery dinner was a lot of fun. I think some of the info people had our were giving was wrong but we had a great time anyways. The food at this place was amazing as well both the dinner and the breakfast. I also enjoyed learning about the history of the area from Mr Spicer over breakfast. He was very sweet and the staff was very nice as well.

Service by staff and food was good. We participated in the Murder Mystery dinner and that was lots of fun! Bedroom and bathroom were a bit "too rustic" for my tastes. Would recommend the Murder Mystery to everyone.

Great hidden place in central MN spicer castle dinner endless ribs, fresh green beans, garlic mashed taters. Much more on the menus great service from Josh atmosphere couldn't get any better. Winter or summer worth a few extra miles from Willmar. Must go to hot spot. Another TJs great place.
