Cannot rate the actual hotel because we didn't end up staying there. Made a reservation through Choice hotels a week in advance. Arrived into town at 10:10 PM and the lobby/office was already closed. Stayed at another hotel as a result. Went back the following day and they said our reservation didn't show up in their system, and it would be $75/night. They made no effort to honor my reserved price. Best Western was $85 and had a few more amenities. (The pool at Rodeway was under construction. ) I'm sure the hotel itself is fine, it looked well kept. I can't give 5 stars because I really didn't get an opportunity after having a bad taste for the service. However they weren't rude and I'd give them another opportunity but I'll make my reservation there by phone, with a real human being.

Small and cozy. Family run and friendly joint. The rooms may need to be maintained a bit better, but we also came during the eclipse which was the town's busiest time in decades according to the locals.

I had accidentally booked this room for the wrong day and didn't realize until we went to check in at 11 pm after driving 16 hours. She accommodated us anyway with no problem and was very nice! They let me borrow the fridge to keep my insulin cold which really helped me out. Rooms were clean, priced well. Overall great experience!

The Staff went above and beyond to help us, our vehicle broke down, hauling a camper, they let us park our camper there while repairs were being done on our vehicle. We got a room and stayed for the night, very friendly staff, clean rooms and very comfortable. They turned a bad Experience of breaking down on the road, into a relaxing Experience. Thanks So much. Will definitely stay here again. The pool and hot tub were wonderful.

This motel shows what a thorough renovation can do for an older property. This motel is definitely "retro" from the outside but completely renovated on the inside resulting in a very pleasant stay. The staff (particularly the lady on duty in the morning) was very helpful. This motel is located fairly close to Devil's Tower so you're not isolated from all the tourist attractions in the Black Hills area. An added bonus is the much lower cost for the stay compared to Rapid City. Check the place out if you're entering the Black Hills from the west (I-90) or leaving the Rapid City area heading west late in the day.

Staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was clean and the amenities were great. I would stay there again.

Have stayed here several times previously. The best place in Sundance and close to the Black Hills of course. Half the price of the Comfort Inn! Good pool and hot tub. Room was clean although spartan. NO clothes hanger bar which was weird. Beds were great. Basic free breakfast in the morning was nice. Ladies at front desk were great and provided solid info and helped me with a small issue also.

Very nice and very reasonably priced. Had huge room 3 beds.

Place was ok enough but expect to be awakened by a loud banging on the door hours before checkout time. When you answer, it will be highly confusing because the explanation is " were trying to clear out our rooms and can't tell who is in which room because there's no cars"… ;? What? Don't you keep a record of which rooms are occupied? Weird and rude. We still stayed until 11. I don't know about this whole town.

This isn't the Hilton but they do the best they can! I think Ken should have been more specific on what he needed. You don't get to pay for one room if you need more than one, that's a given!

IF I could give it ZERO stars I would! My family and I were moving across the country and we booked a hotel room here after a LONG day of driving. We arrived and they had put our family of 5 in a 1 BED room! We asked if they could switch us or if there was any other rooms available and they told us there was rooms available but we'd have to pay for that room as well!?!?! Um NO! Then she comes out and says she is new and doesn't know how to "just switch" the rooms. So we asked her to call her manager and she tells us her manager is asleep and " we can't wake up her manager"…!?!?! Then after we decided to "make do" they didn't have any roll away beds or portable cribs. All they had to offer us was extra pillows and blankets! The pool was broken and we had to go to the gas station up the street to get coins to operate their laundry services! UNACCEPTABLE! DO NOT STAY HERE!

Sometimes you have to compare relative facilities before making your judgement on a hotel. One such as this, tucked away in a tiny town miles away from any larger city, obviously is going to have its limitations. In fact, we learned that the Rodeway Inn is actually closed during the winter, presumably due to minimal demand. That said, my buddy and I booked 2 rooms months in advance of the Sturgis 2015 bike rally. Of course when we arrived, the motel was pretty much exclusively filled with other bikers. Considering that rooms in Sturgis itself (55 miles away) were going for $400 and up during the rally, if you could find one at all, we felt the $120 or so we paid was a grand bargain. No, this isn't the 4 seasons, by any means. The rooms are basic fare (a bit travel-worn, yet large and roomy, and cleaned well daily), but offered everything a multi-night stay could ask for. They have a heated pool and separate hot tub, as well as laundry facilities. We didn't see any sort of breakfast, but none was advertised, yet there was always a pot of coffee available in the lobby. The best part of the lodge was the staff. Andrea and Ryan were superb. Going out of their way to accommodate our every whim in a cheerful and eager way, making the stay a pleasant and personal one. Our choice of Sundance turned out to be the perfect place to roost for 3 days during the rally. Far from the madding crowds, yet less than an hour's ride to Sturgis ground zero.

Junk place. Had hairs in the bed. Breakfast is a fiasco. I had paid so I had to stay. Bathroom was not clean. Wont stay again for free.

Got in a bind on way back from sturgis the people here were very helpful and they accommodated us with a room for the night. Very clean very friendly great pool great hot tub and great people. Could not leave the next day so reserved another room for the night. Again not a problem. I would recommend this hotel to all. Definitely a 5 star in my book.

Great place to stay when on a hunting trip, and close to restaurants. Stayed there a couple different years.

Our first room did not have the bathroom cleaned. The second room had a big gap under the outside door, mildew in the bathtub grout, peeling wallpaper, wacky stains on the floor and broken glass outside the door. The rooms are clearly not being proactively maintained. And the ice machine was not working. Place has a clean bed and that is about it. GOOD THINGS: Indoor pool was nice, and staffer was nice. Great local restaurants.

Desk clerk said she couldn't split the bill between us and the couple with us. Bike week and no working ice machine, no working Wi-Fi. Best thing about this place. Aro restaurant is just down the street. Best place in town.

Myself and a friend stayed here for 3 days during Sturgis bike week. We found the rooms to be clean and comfortable and the hotel people were very friendly — we enjoyed our stay. They had towels/rags out side our door to clean the Harleys up — coffee in the room and donuts and cereal in the lobby in the morning. The surrounding area was nice too — what else could you ask for? Nothing fancy — but great for a good nights sleep.
