Arrived at 3am and Liz answered the outside phone with a cheerful voice and she made our night, day/ vacation an amazing experience.

Came on the wrong day for sure. A 100 little girls screaming everywhere. But a nice hotel and my room is huge… but expensive. Almost 400 a night. Pool and jacuzzi are nice.

Sugar Beach was a wonderful place to stay. It was quiet, CLEAN, and accommodating to our every request. Friendly employees and convenient location. Definitely recommend!

Simply THE best place we’ve stayed in a long time. The front desk was friendly and helpful, the entire place was VERY clean, including (especially! ) our room. The room had many extra “small” things that made the stay a little better, like a full sized garbage, soft Kleenex, extra pillows that were fluffy, extra towels, and lots of access plugs for our electronics, to name a few things. It’s super close (and has easy-access) to the airport, which was a plus. Overall, we had a very nice visit, and I’d recommend this place to stay for sure!

Beautiful, thoughtful and clean!

The hotel is right on the beach with plenty of chairs and a lot of water sports to choose from. The lake is very pretty and the water is clear. The indoor pool is nice also if you prefer pools. The rooms are spacious and clean. We had a balcony view of the lake and it was nice to sit out and watch the lake and hear the waves. Almost seemed like we were at the ocean.

Checked in was greater by Kevin. Nicest and mist helpful person I've ever met. Texted me about an hour after we got here to make sure everything was ok and to ask if we needed anything. Great place.

I love, just to be able to open the sliding glass door, and hear the waves crash the shore. It was so awesome to see the mallards right outside our door. Very clean. Great location. This was our second time there, at not the last.

Staff is extremely rude. Nothing more distasteful then staff that clearly shows they do not care about their customers. Customer satisfaction should always be top priority. It’s YOUR CUSTOMERS that keep your business flourishing. Without them, you have no business. You should always strive to keep your guest happy. Please hire staff that are trained in customer care. Your reviews on several sites are sub par. It’s a shame. Also, please notify guest of “hidden” fees. There are other places in TC that accommodate guest appropriately. Stay clear of this place.

The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Hot tub and pool are very nice. Cute little arcade on the first floor. Highly recommend booking a room on the first floor with beach view during the summer months. Absolutely beautiful!

My wife and I spent our 16th Wedding Anniversary and Valentine's this past weekend. The entire staff was friendly, courteous and attentive. Extremely helpful with local event information. Even with a Junior Hockey team there it was extremely quiet! The complimentary breakfast was fresh and the dining area clean! My wife and I would recommend this resort anytime!

Just checked out from a 3 night stay here, and everything was perfect! The room was clean, comfortable, and spacious. The pool and hot tub were clean and warm. The beach is beautifully kept, the water is so clear and warmer than some of the inland lakes we visited. They even have a bin full of beach toys for the kids to use, as well as rafts for the adults. They texted daily to check in, and were quick to respond to requests. I would absolutely return!

Absolutely wonderful. Got screwed over by another resort and found a beautiful room with fresh, comfortable decor and a great balcony in under 15 minutes. As soon as we arrived we were greeted by the most friendly, courteous staff who offered us extensive and relevant information on the city and answered all questions we had about the area. They made us feel right at home. Room keys were given to us in a booklet of awesome coupons for anything from antique shops to parasailing. The beach offers great views and a large selection of seating. Located in the perfect spot for walking along the lake or walking downtown. Continental breakfast was a fabulous addition. A surprising, positive touch was the dedication to conservation as we were issued a credit for the hotel store for refusing housekeeping services during our stay. Not only did the room and the beach exceed our expectations by far, the staff is really what made our experience here so memorable. 10/10 resort hotel for families and couples. Thank you to the Grand Beach for saving our vacation, we will be back!

The location is beautiful with a put-put coarse right across the road and a private beach behind the hotel. The continental breakfast was good and the pool and hot tub are nice as well. My only complaint is that our bathroom was not 100% clean. There were dark brown spots on the inner shower curtain and black stuff on the mirror. Otherwise, the hotel is perfect!

The facility and the staff was great, the rooms were very clean as well as the beach. The breakfast was very good. My family enjoyed the pool area too. Very conveniently located to shops and activities. HIGHLY RECOMMEND and will stay again when we come back to Michigan. Beautiful area.

Grand Beach Resort Hotel is a grand place to be! Rooms overlooking the bay definitely have it made in the sand! Pay the extra $$ for the view if you plan to just relax. A gorgeous indoor pool makes this a famed family place to stay; lots of teenagers and children (with mini-golf across the street). The breakfast bar was standard and the concierge service was both extremely attentive and above average. We found the rooms themselves to be clean, decorated with a mixture of cottage-like and modern design; doing its best to mimic a resort destination. Our room overlooked the parking lot to save additional money for spending at local shops. It was beautiful, a little loud as it was near the ice maker and elevators. Having traveled to numerous hotels, Traverse City is pricey for Michigan. Be ready to pay, but always call in person too, as they do price match from websites! Cancellation policy was wonderful and you absolutely cannot beat the access to local Traverse City shops and dining. Not straight in the heart of Traverse City, but a short drive away to the action.

Absolutely wonderful. Customer service is great, I received multiple text messages from the front desk staff checking in on us. Beds are so comfortable. Beach is beautiful, clean, and even has sand toys for kids. Breakfast was fair. My only complaint about the whole stay was the website states movie rentals available but does not warn you that they cost 4 dollars! Overall, we all loved it and it was great stay at a great price for us. Will definitely be back.

Very nice clean hotel. Compfy beds and nicely decorated rooms. Friendly staff who know the meaning of great customer service. Some rooms have balconies or walk out to beach patios with a beautiful views. Free breakfast was good with plenty to eat. Pool was nice and clean.

Had a very nice room with a patio that went right to their wonderful beach. Nicely appointed rooms. Comfortable beds. Very clean. Very friendly service. The inside pool and hot tub are great. I had a wonderful stay.

Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Hotel is clean. Lake front beach is absolutely beautiful! Worst part so far is the walls are not insulated very well so I've been woken up numerous times because of people slamming their room doors and every time the neighbors went to the bathroom.

Night desk manager Jim wasn't at the desk when I tried to enter via the front door. Had to use a phone to call in — no key card access? No answer. So I had to walk around to the back of the building and work my way back to the front. There was Jim. I said, "there you are" and he basically said he got there when he got there. I said not soon enough and he repeated. Like he didn't care he was AWOL. Bad attitude. No apology. Does a disservice to the hotel. I won't come back because anyone who hires him doesn't care about customer service.

Nice hotel. Decent location. Get a water front room. Breakfast could use a meat option but good enough to get by. Room was clean and we'll kept.

Lovely room. Clean and well maintained. View from waterfront room is beautiful. Nice pool. I was impressed by an easy check in and I even received a text making sure we were satisfied with room.

Overall the hotel was great. The service was friendly and efficient, the hotel was clean and well decorated. The room was clean with nice furniture and fixtures. The pool was really nice and kept up. The only cons I would have would be: the parking was cramped and the breakfast staff was not friendly (breakfast was good though)

VIEWS BEACH VIEWS! The Rooms are clean and beautiful! Staff was really helpful. And the breakfast waffle bar was a big hit with the kids. This place also has laundry and a great indoor pool!

Hotel was clean and basic. We were there in a not too busy off season night and we didn’t get a water view room: (The water view is really the appeal to this place. Long, confusing walk from room to lobby and pool. Walls were pretty thin as we could hear every word of the conversation the three girls who stayed next door to us said all day and all night.

Loved it! Great hotel and location! Very nice rooms, great off season price. Helpful staff. Continental breakfast was nice too. Would recommend to anyone and will definitely stay again. We appreciated the in room fridge and there is also a microwave. They have an indoor pool, hot tub, little workout room and a game room. Be aware that there is a $100 breakage fee/deposit in addition to the cost of your room (I recommens paying cash so you can get it back upon checkout after room is inspected). Close to some restaurants, I recommend Red Mesa.

This is a great hotel. One of my favorites in traverse city. Comfortable rooms, friendly staff and a beautiful location.

Great hotel in a perfect location. We got a first floor room with a walk out patio onto the beach with a king size bed and pullout sofa. Our stay was during spring break, mid April and it snowed 4 inches but we LOVED the view from our door wall. This room would be awesome in the summer. The room was very clean and loved the decor. We had a mini fridge in our room which came in handy. The location of this hotel is about 10 minutes from downtown TC and about 20 minutes from the best winery Brys Estate (go there, you won’t regret it! ). Loved Grand Beach Hotel and definitely will stay again!

Awesome place to stay. I had the first floor room which I highly recommend. Walk right out of your beach front door and rent a jet ski or SUP. Breakfast was lacking meat but they did offer hard boiled eggs for protein. Update: stayed here again. Exactly 1 year later. Same great experience as the first. Still wishing breakfast was on par with holiday inn. I'm switching to Bayshore Resort. After trying a place with a real breakfast I see no reason to come back here.

I called here and asked what the check in age was and the lady on the phone told me it was 18, so I booked a room. When we arrived to the hotel my friends and I were told we couldn’t check in since we are all 20 and you had to be 21. We drove 4 hours to get here and the lady was pretty rude about it, making it seem like it was our fault for not knowing. They did give me a refund, but they could have been more accommodating.

This hotel was amazing for a quick winter getaway. Staff was super kind, room was clean with a great view. Really close to the beach (literally right outside the hotel) with indoor pool/jacuzzi (work an hour for adults only at night! ) Would definitely stay again!

Mary the Manager refused to give $$$ back to me for a cancellation that I did not book with them. They will not return my $$$$ for time that I never spent at this hotel or MI. A clear case of fraud and no help with this location to correct the problem. They are willing to take $$$ from someone that did not book a room with them. Do you trust someone like this that is willing to take $$$ knowing it is a fraud case. Stolen Money! Did not make reservations and refuse to credit back to my credit card. Fraud!

This place is amazing, best hotel in the area. The location is great, right on East Bay with its own beach access, yet very close to town. The room is clean as well as the hotel in general. Pool area is nice and clean. Staff are accommodating and friendly. The breakfast has a lot of good options and yummy. Great value for luxury.

Everything was clean and cozy, and the service was very friendly. We stayed during the winter, so the prices were amazing, especially considering they have an indoor pool, included breakfast, and great televisions. The deducted star was due to the beds being fairly uncomfortable and it was hard to regulate the temperature. If they were to get capital to renovate, they new beds and windows. I would stay again, though, considering the value.

Nice clean hotel with friendly staff. The room was clean, and spacious. We had a beach view room and the view was amazing, too bad it was off season, but can't blame the hotel for that. The staff was helpful and friendly. Nice pool area and it was clean. One part that was lacking for the price was the breakfast. It was nothing special, they could have had a better selection such as a few hot items like sausage or eggs. Overall I would highly recommend staying here and would return.

This hotel is one of the top places I have stayed at. We did an extended weekend stay. The room was clean but did have a few areas which I thought could have been cleaner for the price, such as a build up dust behind the TV and smell inside the microwave. The room was also quite for the most part, there was only one day I felt it was loud, did yard work at 8 am in a Friday morning. The view from the room was awesome. The staff was friendly and willing to accommodate. The pool and spa were well maintained and provided hours of fun for the kids. The arcade was also maintained and cheap. Most expensive game and only one priced at that price was $2 and that was a 2 person hockey game, the rest were 50 cents to a quarter. The other area I felt was an issue was the breakfast. Again for the price of the room, I felt that their breakfast could have been more then waffles, begals, yogurt, cereal, and oatmeal. Also the coffee was awful but the tea made up for that. Overall, the hotel is a great place to stay and I would come back again.

My fiance and I recently spent 2 nights at Grand Beach Resort, and we really enjoyed our stay. We checked in late due to our long drive, and they called to confirm we were still coming. We didn't get to enjoy the beach due to the cold, rainy weather, but our room was cozy and clean, and the folded towel turtle was very welcoming! The shift manager, Anthony, was also welcoming and offered great dining advice. To add to the great service, the hotel offers a text message concierge service, so the desk is always conveniently available. The location is close to downtown and across from a Pirate's Cove Adventure Park. This resort has a lot to offer if you're interested in a couple's getaway or a whole family adventure! I highly recommend staying here!

This stay was less than a positive experience. There was loud talking next door well beyond 11:00 O'Clock. After calling the desk twice the host offered to move us to another room. My wife and I are both elderly, moving at that time of the night was not a good option. We have stayed here on numerous occasions and have been happy with our time here, but this is not the only place up here.

The people at this place are awesome. From the check in experience, until they found an important fragile lost item and mailed it back to me without any damage. The virtual concierge was very convenient and they were always willing to help with any issues. Great place.

A lovely place to stay. Indoor pool and nice sandy beach. Breakfast is limited, the concierge is nice they follow up with you and make sure everything is to your liking. They have a boat rentals right on the beach. Location is good, access to putt putt and a small, however, well stocked mini mart down the street. The only real issue (although not with the hotel) we had was traffic was unrelenting so it is a problem to get across the street.

Staff was very friendly. They provided us an upgrade upon arrival, and thoroughly explained all amenities. The hotel is an amazing place, especially with a 10 and a 7 yo. The beach was right out side our door, making a day in the sun amazing. Bathroom, fridge, and anything else just a few steps away from our hotel provided beach umbrella and chairs. Breakfast works, you're not going to get anything fancy, but having something this easy with the kids is perfect. Highly recommended for young families.

Just returned from 3 nights at the Grand Beach Resort Hotel in Traverse City. And it was wonderful. Not a true 5 star hotel — but it was clean, the room good sized, and the staff was wonderful, helpful and honest about the local attractions. Made some very wonderful and surprising recommendations. Had a beach front room (a must). Wife and I returned at the end of each day for a nightcap on our balcony. A beautiful, quiet time. I used to do a lot of business travel and have stayed in many hotels. This, overall, was one of the best hotel experiences I ever had. I would strongly recommend it. We will be back.

Completely offended and very disgusted! Have stayed at this resort many times in the last several years. Never paid more than $99.00 a night! I would be willing to pay a little more during the busy season but, called tonight to book a room for a doctor's appointment for my mom. 77 years old and limited mobility but can still access a normal room. A beach room was quoted well over $300 dollars! Seriously?!?!? Highway robbery and very disrespectful to a loyal customer. They will never get my business again! Nothing like gouging!

One of the best hotel experiences I've had for the dollar. $99 for an off-season Saturday night netted me an incredibly comfortable bed (seriously), nicely appointed room, and fantastic beach view. Whether the value holds true during peak season… Probably not. But that's peak season in TC for you.

Our staff at Grand Beach Resort was great! The rooms are big with an amazing view of the Bay. The breakfast was amazing! The staff was very friendly and welcome. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

One of the front desk people was very rude and didn't seem like she wanted to anything anyone asked politely. Rolling her eyes and very rude. Not very respectful.

This place was terrible. We got a Jacuzzi room that had no heat. I didnt notice at first but we went to the casino after turning the heat on and when we got back it was freezing. I had to call the front desk 3 times and they had to call the maintenance man who wasn't on site. Eventually they moved us to another room whos sink shot water all over the place. But the staff was so terrible I dealt with that. Don't take a vacation here.

I was staying with them yesterday as a gift from my wife for Valentine's Day. Everything went perfect with our room with good service. In addition, and that is obvious, the city was great. There is much to do, as a large number of local shops and restaurants with delicious food. Recommend this hotel and this city for any type of vacation!

Clean rooms and a great view of the frozen bay. A tad pricey for the off season, but otherwise a nice place to stay. Very close to great food and shopping downtown. Service was efficient and friendly. Parking was very tight, the only shortcoming. Several guests appeared to be boxed in by parked cars in the morning.

Overall a great lodging choice for the Traverse City area. My room was clean and generally featured modern amenities, including a balcony, large tile shower, and whirlpool tub that comfortably fit two adults. Beach frontage was groomed and pleasant. Staff were very friendly and helpful, providing several lists of local wineries, microbreweries, and restaurants, in addition to assisting with same day reservations at a very reasonable rate. Parking lot spaces are a bit tight and the frontage road is exceptionally busy, but that hardly impacts the value of your stay here. A few restaurants are within walking distance, as well as some delivery options straight to your room.

Had a Great time while staying there. The Staff was beyond fantastic. The rooms were clean, the beach was great, The manager went out of her way to make everyone happy. Would definately recomend and will be going back.

My husband and I stayed here this past weekend and had an unbelievable time! Didn't have a reservation and got right in anyway. Every worker that we ran into was so very nice! The room and view were the BEST! They not only told us about good restaurants but gave couple sheets of paper with their favorite restaurants, little blurb about the menu and some prices on each one. Took them up on one of the restaurants and it was very good. Their continental breakfast was very good also even though it didn't offer any meats. I would absolutely come here again.

Jim is wonderful at the front desk. His customer service is very friendly and professional at the same time. We felt well taken care of in a clean environment.

Stayed one night in a beach view room on the 1st floor during the Columbus weekend. Chose the 1st floor because I can walk to the beach from the room directly, and it's awesome. Loved everything about this hotel. Very friendly people. The wireless is free and fastest I've ever experienced in a hotel. Next time will stay here in summer.

Amazing hotel. I've been coming here for the last 15 years, many of which included some great childhood memories. This hotel has always been one of my favorites and the standards have only raised over the years! Clean, friendly service, great amenities, and a beautiful view from the private balcony! In the summer the rooms can get a bit pricey, but overall, with the gorgeous lake, it's totally worth it.

My wife and I when for are anniversary and it was nice, the beach was awesome! but we did notice that the room had a stale smoke smell and when we call the desk the manager did offer to come with a machine to get the smell out, the Tub in the room was very nice, If you just want to get away for a quiet week end for two this is worth it. P. S. Go to the apache Trout OMG great Food but a long wait 2hrs.

Our recent stay at the Grand Beach Resort Hotel was very pleasant. We looked on-line for quite a while before finally settling on this hotel. Our expectations were met on every level. The hotel was very clean and fresh. The staff extremely welcoming and friendly, great continental breakfast and beautiful beach. Another aspect of the hotel that we found pleasing was the location. Close to every amentity. I would highly recommend the Grand Beach Resort and look forward to a future stay.
