I was pleased with how accommodating the hotel staff was. Whatever you needed, they saw to you getting it. The staff comprised of young, eager and polite people. This group of young people made us proud. However, the management SUCKS! They say one thing but will do another! I had the misfortune of dealing with a male manager and he was rude! I won't patronize that hotel again.

The check-in and catered lunch for the conference were the highlight of my stay. The desk clerks were very nice. The elevator unfortunately smelled like urine. I asked several times for an extra blanket. It took 3 requests to get one. The room was clean — however to get into the room I had to lean my shoulder into it to get it open. There was not very many choices for news. Fox News was glaringly absent. The dinner at the restaurant was barely edible. The final straw was printing a boarding pass. I was directed to the business centre, went to print my boarding pass and the printer said out of paper. I went back to the front desk only to have a stack of paper laid on the counter presumably assuming I would load the printer. I was able to figure out how to load the paper but to me it was poor customer service to expect the guest to do this.

We went there to have a meeting about renting a space for a bridal shower. It was a nice location, had many different room sizes to make sure you got what you wanted. They did negotiate prices with us and came to a price we could agree upon. The only thing I noticed was a water stain on the ceiling with made we leary of the building.

Wow what happened to this hotel? My first encounter when I walked in the hotel I was greeted by a young woman that thought it was okay to come to work and not comb her hair. After checking in, I walked into my room the air conditioner panel was completely off and on the floor of the hotel room. I go to the phone to call the front desk, it was completely disgusting and it didn't work. I'm like no freaking way I just all this money to stay here over and this was my experience. No one offered me to change to another room, compensate me for my inconvenience, nor rectify the issue with the panel. The only thing housekeeping did was clean the nasty phone and told me to jiggle the cord to make it work. The pool kept going down due to maintenance issues. This was an absolute horrible stay for my family and I. Certainly has went down in quality but charging an arm and leg for these types of room.

No locks to secure the room doors. Supposed to be no smoking but all you smell is weed through out the halls. They put all the back people on the first floor. Bed skirts on the beds were dirty with cigerrett burns on them. Mini fridge was dirty. No towels in rooms conjuring room locks were broke rooms 191 193 spent 500 bucks. To make my daughters birthday was priceless but the stay at the sterling inn was a one star rating. They need to do deep cleaning on all the rooms on the first floor. And no the staff felt no sympathy and didn't try to fix the situation at all.

Booked this hotel specifically so my son could enjoy the water park. After checking in, was told we can NOT use the water park because I booked through a third party (flight/hotel package). Was told by two diff people (desk assoc. And desk manager) I could not even purchase pool passes because it was not the hotel's package. Was told that we could if we cancelled original booking and bought their package — for an extra $80/night. Horrible experience and will never return. Ever have to tell your young son he can't use the water park you've been promising him for a month even though you're staying IN THE HOTEL!? 1 star for having the most ridiculous policy. Oh, and fire alarms went off continuously both days we could stand to be there including waking us up one morning. Fail.

The staff was rude, they no longer have room service or breakfast, asked for extra towels and Mariah at the front desk said she was about to get off and to wait for the next shift to come in 30 minutes later. And guess what the water park was dirty the life guards were sleeping and the room had bed bugs!

Staff were always friendly and rooms were generally clean. Bathtub shower curtain rod was pulled out of the wall and bit and there were a few other minor things with the room. It was nice to have a good sized fridge plus microwave in the room. Any kind of continental breakfast would have a been nice. The pool was a pay per use which made it more difficult to decide when to go. A flat charge for the number of days staying there would be nicer. There was certianky plenty of capacity in the pool area when we went. Overall a fairly decent place to stay while in that area.

THIS IS NOT THE STERLING INN! The quality has fall off with new owners. First the rooms are misleading… EXECUTIVE IS THE SAME ROOM! Water park passes not included if you book online… overpriced! Got to the room… the roof leaking right in the hallway! The Arcade is condemned, even the employees didn't know it was there! But what they do have is BEDBUGS! And when notified it was like oh well… ON TO THE NEXT ONE?! Don't believe me…?

Came for a small getaway. Though the line was a little lengthy due to spring break everyone was pleasant and professional. Checked entire room for creatures and it was pretty clean giving it wasn't the Ritz or Trump Towers. The water park for my son's was the best thing ever. There was no issues with children misbehaving or being rambunctious and it was a lot of them. Just great fun happening. Water park food bar had great friendly staff. Loon breakfast bar was ok. It could have used some toppings for the oatmeal (a little brown sugar, cranberries and pecans wouldn't hurt) All in all enjoyed my stay! Zero Complaints!

Had to leave! We tried to take our two young kids down for a day at the water park as a fun getaway as a family… this is not the place for young kids. The hotel and the customer service is atrocious. The room was dirty, with other guests hair and trash throughout. The water park (that doesn’t open until 4) only had half the features functioning and the “arcade” they show prominently in the pictures doesn’t exist, instead you have five machines shoved in the back of the run down restaurant attached to the hotel, three of which didn’t work. A guest got sick in the hallway, we notified the front desk and two hours later all they’d done was throw a towel over it. As we’re getting ready to put our kids to bed, the entire second floor smelled of marijuana. We packed the kids up and checked out. I notified the front desk as we departed, they expressed zero concern, did not apologize and the “manager” simply shrugged and told me “I can’t control puke and I can’t control pot”. Save you money on a hotel that values your business, this hotel is not what it appears.

Terrible Horrible experience made reservations for my daughter's birthday party she was turning five on the day of the party went to check in man at desk told me Hotel was closed down then told me that everyone had been informed through email or voicemail however none of those emails or voicemail have been confirmed because obviously I didn't get it if I'm trying to check in also was another family attempting to check in that same day terrible terrible customer service when I ask cookie offer accommodations at a sister Hotel he told me no when I asked to speak to a manager he told me he would not give me his number to call him but it gave me his card which was a business signal I cannot express enough this terrible terrible experience my daughter was turning five I had booked two rooms and was expecting lots of people had to change plans quickly and use a hotel down street just to go to their pool do not ever book here will not ever go there ever stay away.

The room was very ordinary, small and dirty bathroom with no towels. The other guests were loud and obnoxious, yelling and cursing all day and night. The pool area was fantastic which is why I'm not giving just one star. The lifeguards were extremely attentive and we had a blast. Just wish the hotel area and guests were classier. I feel like my daughter's learned some new swear words.

Great hotel stay! I was very impressed with the quality of service. We booked a room for the water park. Lifeguards were present in the pool area, pool water was checked frequently, clean comfortable room. Our children loved it, and we will book again. Bret at the front desk gave superior customer service! A family friendly hotel, so expect lots of children and noise during pool hours. Highly Recommend for a family getaway.

The young lady that took my reservation also checked me in. She is amazing, very knowledgeable & deserves a raise.! I'm definitely going back for more fun. The desk clerk also informed me that as a member that I'd earned a free nights stay. Sweet!

The room was clean and nice. The bathroom seemed okay. The hotel itself definitely seemed to be falling apart around us though. When we first got there, there was a mom with her kids at the front desk telling the employees that they had just been stuck in the elevator for 30 minutes. The door to get into our side of the building never worked. The fire alarm went off for 10 seconds in the middle of the night for no reason. The water park area seemed run down, most of the fountains weren't actively spraying. There was dirt and grit on the floor in the kids pool area. Overall it was a disappointing experience. I used to love going there when I was younger and couldn't wait to bring my kids. I think next time we'll just make the drive up to Bavarian Inn or down to Sandusky.

Lobby, grand ballroom and breakfast buffet are perfect. Well kept, engaging and beautiful. The rooms need updating (doors look weak). Pool was fun and kids enjoyed it but a bit dated.

Obviously new ownership compared to years past. Food was still good, but when family style service (table service) plates did not go all the way around the table serving everyone they were reluctant to bring out more food for the people that didn't get any, as though we were trying to get extra. Serving Staff are all Indian. Most were cordial and polite. Specific requests seemed to go unanswered. Dessert cupcakes were tasty and different, like caramel apple flavor and strawberry cheesecake flavor but cake was somewhat dry.

I was really super impressed with the quality of this hotel from the front Lounge area service, rooms, hallways, everything is just top-notch, really feels like you get what you pay for. I would highly suggest that anybody in the area that doesn't want to skimp out on their vacation or business stay go here and they will be well taken care of. It may cost a little bit more than some of the other hotels but the level of service and quality is definitely noticeable!

The hotel was beautifully decorated for Christmas. We were there for a wedding and the banquet hall was simple but elegant. Some of the food at the buffet was cold but over was okay.

Desk staff was friendly, I was impressed with how spacious the room was and comfortable too, for not paying an arm and a leg. Ended up now using the shower here but everything seemed to be very clean all around. Was woken up this morning by VERY loud pounding on the door and yelling from the housekeeper trying to get in. I've stayed in a lot of hotels… this has never happened to me before. Now I don't know what this job entails entirely but just from my experience in past places, they usually knock a couple times and go "housekeeping. " And if there is no response or are asked for some time, they move on. This woman was YELLING so loud. I had to get up out of bed exhausted because she didn't even stop — just to tell her I'm sleeping and to come back later. That was probably 8 or 9:00am. I fall back asleep and she does the same exact thing around 10:45 and I didn't bother to respond or get up again. She then proceeds to go "checkout is at 11:00" and I had to muster up my energy to yell back "my check out is at noon". Not to mention I heard her open my door as well. Maybe to be heard better but I was just kind of surprised they are allowed to do that when a guest is in a room… I wonder now if she would have come in if I didn't have the second chain lock done… It had to be 12:03 when I'm in the process of putting my couple of bags on my arms and just making sure I didn't forget anything — like you should, and she's at the door again YELLING "it's noon". Thanks?

Good clean rooms, GREAT banquet food… a LITTLE BIT unnerved by the 9:00 AM "accidental " fire alarm BOTH days we were there. The lack of a " what's on TV now" channel on the TV is a little bit irritating…

Property's old and not well maintained. Bathroom door didn't close all the way, torn carpet and wallpaper. Chipped tub, stained linens, etc. Staff was ok though and they offered "clean remotes". Haven't seen that before! They also have this cool sign in the room.

We are having our wedding here next August and I am already impressed. I met Rebecca at a bridal show and she has been incredibly patient and knowledgeable through the selection process. I would have never found them if they hadn't of been at the bridal show but I am so glad they we're! They had everything we were looking for and I cannot wait to continue on this journey ♡

The only thing positive about this hotel is good customer service. The hotel stinks like wet carpet. The room door was jammed and we had to relocate to a different room at night. The carpet of both rooms was literally wet. You have to hold the flush button on the toilet until everything flushes. The towels stink like they've not been washed. The building looks old and rusted. I will never stay here again.

Have not made it to the "pool area" yet, but the room is older and the entire hallway and room smell of water damage of some sort. The Front desk staff was very kind and courteous. And offered us another room that was thought to be of higher quality. And it was the same room as our first. We hope the pool facilities are worth the stay. Because if I was here, simply to SLEEP, I would check out upon entering my room. But I'm optimistic the pool and facilities will make up for it. For the kids sake at least.

Very bad experience, booked the hotel mostly for the water park for my kids but when I arrived the management told us it was only opened Monday — Thursday and we're leaving Friday. One of the nights they didn't even clean our room and they told us housekeeping went home but they would bring towels to our room — they never did and we ended up going to sleep the night before our flight without taking showers. Lobby was okay, fountain wasn't filled though so it made it look a little run down.

I will never stay here again, it was the worst stay ever. The white male operations manager was rude as hell. The hallways smell like nothing but weed. In the room next to me and across from me had at least 20 people in each room. People drinking and smoking outside of door 6 and 7. I never been to such a Ghetto hotel in my Life. They don't even clean the rooms properly. No towels because there excuse was that they were being washed. Nasty, nasty, never again. Save your money and go somewhere else!

The reception gave us wrong price $129 per night and we ended to pay more $ 160. The room is spacious, however; it is not clean and the bathroom is not function properly. I was planning to stay with family for three nights but I decided to spend one night and find another hotel. In a nutshell, do not waste your money.

There rooms wete great the waterpark was delightful and I enjoyed my visit.

The room we stayed in was nice. It was generally clean and well kept. We attended a wedding though and there were some complaints. One was that the food was virtually not edible. We went to white Castle later and were able to get something better… Just sayin'.

I was there on Saturday for a wedding. The bridal suite room mt friend had was large enough for all of us girls to get ready. The staff was very polite and courteous. (: the food was pretty good. The dance floor was extremely small for a hall, however.

We had a group rate for a wedding; making the reservation ended up being difficult because the receptionist did not know how to access the hotel block. The room was comfortable but guests were loudly shouting and swearing in the hall at all hours of the night. The bride and groom were placed in a room with an adjoining room next door (no privacy! ) And their shower did not have a curtain. It took about 45 minutes for staff to bring up a curtain.

RUN AWAY! I was told stay here from a company I work for so I could attend a conference. You know one of the big 3 auto manufactures. If I could give this place negative stars I would. Let me list the reasons. 1 — They charged me for the room the company was to pick up the tab. $400.00. Now I am fighting to get my money back. 2 — No heat or AC in the room. I was unable to control the HVAC in my room. 3 — Elevator near my room didn't work. I was on the 4th floor. 4 — Pool was closed Monday thru Thursday. 5 — T. V. Didn't work for 3 of the 4 days. 6 — No Wi-Fi access in my room. They claim free Wi-Fi 7 — Hotel was over all dirty especially in the common areas. 8 — Hotel was under construction below my room. Very loud! 9 — I asked twice for a new room I was denied twice due to the rooms being booked even tho the parking lot was empty. I am sure there's more. I had an awful experience. I will NEVER stay in this place again.

Do not have your wedding or reception here! If we would have known that it would be this disastrous before our big day I would have been gladly to pay someone else all the money. Let's start with when we first signed up we had 1 wedding coordinator we were working with at the time. Few months down the road we were sending her emails trying to make a deposit and she was never replying back. So finally we called and come to find out the lady quit and they never once notified us. So we were like okay that's fine hopefully it's not things to come with miss communication. (but it only gets worse) When we put our initial deposit down, we asked if we could 40-50 rooms blocked off since my friends and family all will need a place to stay due to travel reasons. They said we will start you off with 10-15 then keep adding more rooms until we are sold out. I asked if they can just add the 40 now so that we wouldn't have to worry about it if they do sell out. She said oh it hardly ever happens. Okay so a few months go by I start getting calls from our DJ, my aunts, uncles, and friends saying they couldn't book a room. I call and see what's going on apparently there was a big sporting event for softball that booked all the remaining rooms and they never once called us or to even check to see if the 40 rooms I was guaranteed for my family was all set. So now the whole reason of us having our reception at a hotel for our guests not drinking and driving went to crap.

The bodyguards were rude on top of that he jacuzzi broken, they offered a heated pool for the inconvenience which needs to be replaced as well as everything else. The room is nice but the experience wasnt worth the amount I paid for the stay.

Despite the low ratings for this hotel, we decided to check it out for ourselves! With it being spring break, we wanted to find something for our daughter to do that would be fun and a pool with a waterslide seemed like the perfect idea for a quick getaway! And that it was! We had a good time, our daughter had a blast in the lazy river and whirl pool, and the waterslide was perfect! Kept her busy and happy for hours! The pool was clean and there were many lifeguards! Our room was clean, but we did have trouble keeping our electronics plugged in due to the old outlets, our chargers wouldn't stay plugged in the wall! Also the remote was old, and needed new batteries and didnt offer a guide option, and barely worked so at the end of the day when we wanted to relax and watch tv, it was frusterating! Also would be nice to rent a movie! The games in the game room kept taking our tokens and only about half of the games even work! The service at the front desk was friendly, and we didnt have to wait to check in a little early which was nice! The service at the Resteraunt was very slow, but the food was good! Overall I rate this hotel a 4 because my daughter had a great time in the pool and waterslide and most of the staff was really friendly! I know that it has a lot of potential if they just keep up on the little things!

Called today to try and book a room… Got rude service VIA phone… not wasting my time or money… OK hotel Owners it's time to look at the customer reviews of your place… They suck and that means your management sucks… I'll pay more for a service that I know will be "exceptional" and if the front line can't be polite and curious from the start… That's a problem… Maybe going out of business will help…

Staff was nice. Please wait until remodeling is over to come here. Most of outside doors are not secure. Elevators are broke. Ice machines do not work. Floors and walls of rooms are dirty. We have 2 rooms and the rooms where not comparable. One was outdated, heat did not work. The other was updated and TV did not work. Kids are just meddling around sitting on floors in hallways. The arcade was closed. Pool area had 2 sections closed. Places of hotel is freezing cold. This was very embarrassing and scary. It kinda felt like walking into the twilight zone for hotels. Again staff was nice.

The food at my cousin wedding was good. Everything else at this hotel sucks. They were remodeling. I got stuck on elevator House keeper stole my purse, headphones, and earrings. I'm still waiting on a call back. Ursula the front desk lady that works midnights is rude and ghetto. Troy the manager tried to do the best he can with what he is given to work with. Trashy place. I'll let you know if I receive call about my items that were stolen out my room.

Had a stopped up toilet in the morning, reported it to the staff, who said they would call maintenance. Twelve hours later I return to my room, to the same stopped up toilet. Staff offered another room, but no help moving there, or help with luggage, etc. I was told "come down to the desk to get your new room keys". They offered to send someone up to plunge the toilet. When I answered the door I was handed a plunger and a plastic bag. I had to unclog my own toilet. Never staying here again!

Wet carpet, moisture. Wouldnt let my kids sit on the floor or walk bare foot. Laid blanket down for them to sit on. Cheap mattress, and linen, and lousy pillows. Room are horrible, but kids have fun in the pool.

The floors and carpets were ratty and sorely neglected, while the air in the lobby and banquet hall reception area was thick with the odor of smoke. The odd layout at the front led to bottlenecking visitors trying to check in at the front desk, which appeared to be sorely understaffed. We had reserved a room for a wedding which was held in one of their ballrooms. When we went to our room, we were greeted on the other side of the door by an overpowering stench of cigarette smoke and garbage. This was one of the rooms that they had "specially set aside for the wedding". We never even set out bags down, and instead turned around and cancelled our reservation immediately. We were told that "the smell could be due to an entry door being by your room and it being just off the lobby" and that "they're doing renovations, so that could be some of the other smells in your room". I hate to be that person, but no hotel room in Michigan should smell like fresh tobacco smoke, especially not after the 2009 smoking ban for restaurants and businesses. The banquet service was subpar, as well. While the food and decor get an 8/10, the table service we received was confusing at best and neglectful at worst. Our table asked our server for a pitcher of water, only to be ignored entirely. A guest should never have to get water for his own table, and several neighboring tables, but I found myself doing just that to ensure that other tables had water to drink.

When you walk into the loby, it looks very promising. Though, in the rooms, it smells musty. The toilet seat breaks off no matter how many times the maintenance man shows up and the bathroom had haor in it even before I showed up. The Loon restaurant place ain't all that good. Other than that, the water park/pool is awesome. The help desk was nice, even though we had to call them repeatedly. Air worked and beds were nice.

The water park was a lot of fun. Came for a wedding. Food was an issue, both nights food was under cooked and heard of a pretty nasty problem about one of the buffet salads for the reception dinner. Manager apparently did nothing about it. Room had some appearance problems, chair had huge tear in fabric, blood on blanket, and TV cable outlet cover detached from wall. Keys for doors worked when you turn the handle up instead of slamming the handle down. Door 5 doesn't need a key to get into. Hot and humid through the whole hotel, great if spending whole time in pool area, not so great on other side of the hotel in formal attire. Staff, security, and life gaurds were very nice and helpful. We enjoyed our stay and would probably stay here again.

New owners really turned this place around compared to the other reviews. I stayed here for work and let my family stay and play for what turned into a great mini vacation! The staff was extremely nice and helpful, the hotel is beautiful and bery roomy, and the water park was a blast! The kids loved the stay and the food there wasn't half bad either! We WILL most definitely be back the next time I work in Macomb County.

Absolutely the worst hotel experience in a long time. It was not the cleanest looking place, but the rooms were good size and suitable for our needs. The facilities, however, were not the problem. We were there with my son's hockey team for a tournament. The first night, as we were walking down the hall toward the lobby to meet up with some of the other team parents, the security guard told us that the lobby was closed, the bar was closed, and if we walked outside of the building with the beers we were holding, then we could face a $500 fine. We didn't even have a chance to say Hi before we were told any of this. As we proceeded, we found that the lobby had no signs that said it was closed, but as soon as we stepped in, we were told we couldn't stay there and had to keep moving. At this moment we found that the bar (which the rent-a-cop had stated was closed) was, in fact, OPEN! By the way, if there is anything good about this sorry excuse for a hotel, is the bar! The next day, after my son's game, we came back to the hotel, and had agreed with other parents that we would meet at the lobby. The lobby was again CLOSED. There was a wedding in one of the hall-rooms, which I am sure was lovely, but I don't see a reason the lobby would be closed. When we questioned the same rent-a-cop about why we would not be able to gather in the lobby, he rudely said it was simply not open to guests.

Went for a training conference and it was terrible! Rooms were filthy, walls caked with grime, sticky bathroom floors, dressers and tables greasy, floor carpets were apalling. My kids feet were black from walking around the room in a matter of minutes. I cannot even begin to describe the awful experience at their cafe restaurant. Service was non existant. We waited 45 minutes for our food and ended up walking right out. Cutlery and glasses were sticky and dirty, and when asked for replacement of these items, we got nothing but foul attitude in return. I thought some of these reviews had to be exaggerated, but unfortunately, they are spot on.

Really don't care for the place. It was nice to take our 4 kids for a little get away, but rooms are dirty, customer service sucks, the only nice uncounted we had was with the front desk. The room keys hardly work, pools were nasty sand all over in the one hot tub. Really don't care for this place and prolly won't ever be back.

Strange hotel! At least for business class travelers! Room was nice enough. Bar closes too early, and is boring! Website says there is a heated pool, which there is. However it's only open on weekends. Which is lame! Actually, it's promoted as an indoor water park. Fun for kids and families to a degree? My issue with the hotel is on the weekends it's a zoo! there are kids running the halls most of the night. Knocking on the doors screaming too loud etc. I'm here for work purposes. This is the wrong hotel for that! And I wouldn't bring my kids here ever! I will say the staff is very nice! All of them! I feel sorry for security guards. Basically, this place caters to trashy parents who's kids are hood rats. Then they let the kids run rampant all weekend unsupervised.

Great phone service, A Ms. Janee Hall was very helpful with answering all my questions. I had to at least kept her on the phone for 30minutes making sure that this was the best water park/hotel that my family was coming to and her attitude was perfect. I'm looking forward to going this weekend if all the staff are as happy and helpful as she is. Cant wait to write a review based on my stay.
