Review of The Westin Book Cadillac Detroit 4*

First 2 days for us were great, until 98% of the staff went on strike on our 3rd day closing down the majority of the services. We were staying on the Executive Floor, (23rd) and were awoken by loud drums on Sunday (and Monday) morning with picketers out front with bull horns shouting. The lounge that we would have breakfast everyday was closed “temporarily” and when we went downstairs they were providing a free breakfast for everyone that morning, and we had another breakf…ast provided the next morning (our check out day) since we were on the Club Floor. Be aware if you are planning to stay here: — Executive Lounge is closed until further notice — even though they provide a complementary breakfast to those staying on the floor, you lose out on the benefit of grabbing the random snack or bottle of water/coffee during the day, so no real benefit of a club floor room. — Starbucks downstairs is open from 6am-10am only — Restaurants are on a limited schedule — They’ve enacted their “Make a Environmental choice” program, meaning they will only clean rooms on every 3rd day. — There is a limited room service menu What was disappointing mainly was the communication that the management had with us. We didn’t get any information until we asked someone, info slid under the door in the morning would have been helpful. Although we had a few good interactions with the managers that had taken over the operations of the hotel, most were stressed, not surprised that this happened, and felt like we should’ve known that we were taking a risk staying there. Guess I should have done my research before choosing this one and maybe stayed down the street.
