So, this post might sound rather winded, but hear me out. I stayed t this hotel for a little over two weeks and it was decent. They offered free breakfast (not great food, but free), they have an indoor pool and hot tub (there's almost no ventilation so the chlorine is heavy in the air), they have a decent bar with cheap drinks, etc. I do have complaints about the cleaners as they didn't actually knock every morning and when they did, they weren't very polite (other guests that stayed can attest to this), and the fact that my room key kept being deactivated even though I went to great lengths to keep it away from my cards and cell phone. So good bar, decent restaurant, pool area, dirty rooms. I would stay again but just not for an extended period of time.

Had a very pleasant stay. One of the three rooms we were using was not ready until 5 oclock. I had to go ask housekeeping to clean that room she had no idea it was rented out. Besides that everything was nice, pool was nice, hot tub was nice and staff was very friendly good breakfast. We will stay there again.

The pool area is very nice. Our room was big but when we pulled out the couch bed it had nasty dirty sheets and blanket on it. The AC did not work it was so hot in our room. When I called the front desk to ask for clean sheets and blankets for the pull out bed and to ask if someone could look at the AC the lady was so rude she was even rude when we checked in. Then no one even showed up to give us clean sheets and blankets. The maintenance guy who came to check out the AC was so nice he brought us some fans and got us clean sheets and stuff. The maintenance guy was really the only nice and friendly staff there. Definitely will not be returning even if it is the only place with open rooms I will sleep in a tent before I go back there.

We arrived to the restaurant around 415 and the owner was outside, when we walked in and realized it was closed he told us to take a seat anyway and he would take care of us. The food was great. Will definitely come back.

Nice room. Thermostat/heating and cooling needs to be updated. Glad we could open window for coolness in room.

The best part about this hotel is by far the pool area! They have rooms that open up right to the pool, mini golf, fuz ball, arcade, tons of tables. I remember going here as a kid and I brought my own kids this time. They loved it!

The hotel itself isn't bad. The pool is very nice and the rooms are big. My biggest complaint and the reason for the three star review is because these rooms are HOT. We had our air running the entire time and our room was in the low 80's for our entire stay. We had to buy a fan from Walmart to make the heat bearable. I asked if all the rooms were like this and was told yes. This would be a great place to visit in the winter. Stay away during the summer.

Was in a pool side room, loved everything — — except the air wasnt working in the room! To my surprise with being so close to the pool, if the door was closed. Youd never guess you were right there! Good plus for peace.

This hotel was much nicer than I anticipated for the price. It was clean, smelled fresh, beds were comfortable and linens updated. It worked.

Hotel is nice so far. Clean rooms and nice restaurant attached. Would stay again. Alpena, MI.

The restraint has a 2 hour wait and the restraint was empty most have been short staffed so we ordered room service half the items on the menu we couldn't get so we ordered 3 salads and it took 1 1/2hours to receive it we didn't even get our drinks dressings and we were even missing the chicken for the chicken caesar salad. Very out dated room smelt old bedding.

Love staying here for hockey! Easy access to the rink, decent breakfast (although it was better last year) and friendly staff.

This is a great place to take the kids for a winter getaway. Indoor pool, indoor miniature golf, game room, pool tables and a ping pong table. There is a restaurant on site so you don't have to even leave this place once you're there.

The room was clean and the housekeeping was good. We had to extend our check out time numerous times because my son was in a pool tournament. They were very accommodating. The restaurant on the other hand was not what it was before the new owners. The buffet only had one hot item and it was barely warm. The skillet Off the menu was decent.

Reasonable rates and better than average recreation make this a descent choice for staying in Alpena. There is a large pool, big not tub, ping pong table, and a small mini golf course. Large conference rooms and an expansive pool area make it an excellent choice for large groups. The continental breakfast was sub par and we have had much better options at far lesser establishments. Still an ok choice, but we would weigh our options for the next trip.

Rooms are a little dated but it is a nice quiet hotel, staff are extremely helpful and friendly. Attached restaurant/bar has good prices. Pool area is indoor and unique. Overall, I would recommend it.

Our stay was ok. We stay there one time a year at Christmas time for the past 15 years. The hotel has stayed the same all these years no updates. Every year there are fewer and fewer guests. The complimentary breakfast was okay could be better could be worse.

We went to their restaurant, CW's Barbecue, for dinner a few days before Christmas. The atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. Service was efficient and friendly, and the Prime Rib dinner was delicious. My only wish is that the menu offered a few more choices. All in all, a terrific place!

It's a decent hotel. It's in need of a renovation but they're doing the best with what they have. Friendly staff will get you taken care of. The rooms are all built around their indoor pool/minigolf/activity area which tends to bring in the birthday party crowd. They have rooms away from it so you won't have to hear the noise.

I use to work here and loved it. The rooms are nice and so are the staff. Just got married and stayed in a room only problem no toilet paper.

It's a unique hotel. Room layout seems dated but rooms contents seem updated. Pool area is interesting. Staff are friendly and helpful.

Friendly hotel with basic rooms and amenities. Nothing overly special, but clean and quiet. Also, the breakfast in the morning is complimentary and definitely above average on variety of food.

Clean, well priced, nice staff. Minifridge in the room along with a decent king bed, a couch and a desk. Breakfast was great. Lots of hot food options and most importantly, decent coffee. There is an indoor pool. The downside being that the whole place smells a little of chlorine, but I didnt mind. Smells clean.

Really nice place. Continental breakfast is best hands down. The sunday brunch is the place to be. Rooms are tidy and there are lots of stuff to do for kids. Local hangout place for small get togethers.

The pool area was nice. They have a nice big set up. Near that same area they have a pool table, ping pong table, put put golf, and foosball table. They had a sauna that didn't appear to be working. They also had a small arcade within the same area. The workout room consisted of an elliptical, treadmill and stair stepper. The stair stepper didn't appear to be working either. The lobby was nice. They had a really nice continental breakfast. The only reason I marked it to a three star was the rooms. They were not clean. The bathroom floor was so dirty that when I wiped a white towel on it to wipe up water, it was black! I then freaked out and washed the bathroom floor. It also looked like the room hadn't been vacuumed because I found a toenail clipping and other things on it.

We travel often for work and by the end of the day all you really desire is a clean, cozy bed. We also stay here often as many of our routes are residual. The Customer Service is immaculate and our rooms are always WHITE GLOVE APPROVED! We are forever customers! Thank you for all your services and efforts!

This hotel, and every single one of the employees I interacted with, was a real bright spot on my travel through Michigan! Dinner and breakfast were very tasty and the humongous serving of bread pudding for dessert made me very thankful I had a cooler with me. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

Only good part about this place is the restaurant and bar. Had great food and friendly waitstaff. The hotel was another story. Air conditioner was broken in our room. Front desk staff were not helpful and one was rude. Would not recommend this place, found better deals elsewhere close by.

This hotel sucks! And they call them the place to stay in Elpina. The bed, pillows, food all sucked!

The Sanctuary Inn is a very nice motel, which offers a number of things that anyone could enjoy, like a bar/restaurant on the main floor — which is almost always hopping. The rooms are very nice, as are the people, and the location is perfect for being near town and away from busy traffic. It's my preferred hotel in town.

Bed and pillows suck, no microwave and a nice steamy 78 degrees AC is horrible. For 100 a night come on really.

This was a HORRIBLE hotel we booked this room for a wrestling tournament and needed to be up by 7:00 am and there was a pool league that was going on with a PA system that ran all night. When we called the front desk we were told that thing bring a lot of business and we should have known that it would be this loud. I thought that it was a hotel not a night club something should have been said to use before we booked but they wanted our money. Clearly there were more wrestlers here than pool players and they didn't want to lose the our business. I would recommend any other hotel than this one they are rude and oblivious of what a hotel is for.
