Nice Hotel! I have stayed here before, clean rooms and friendly staff.

The best hotel I have stayed in since I was last in Chicago. Immaculate and spacious rooms. The beds are super comfortable and the rooms very quiet. The breakfast offered blew my socks off! The pandemic has trained me to expect yogurt, fruit and a granola bar. Not here! They had breakfast meat, omelette and biscuits and gravy. The coffee was excellent but the staff was beyond awesome. This Hotel gave me a wonderful weekend away and I plan to come back! Kudo’s to the amazing staff that work here. They are making the pandemic seem like a very small obstacle with comfort for their customers. Thank you!

They charged me 260$ for 1 night! when it was only supposed to cost 120$
They refused to refund me and also wouldnt give me credit for another night.
They tried passing blame to Hotels. Com because I booked through them.
I spoke with hotels. Com and management and they confirmed HOLIDAY INN charged me that and not them.
I'm furious! beyond belief.
I had to call corporate in ENGLAND.

This is the worst hotel experience of my life. From the motorized blinds that will not come down, to the non-stop running and banging in the ceiling from the room above us, to a front desk who doesn't answer the phone or have any ability to handle these concerns, I would never stay here again. I'm exhausted and so frustrated. Thanks for the uncomfortable nightmare before a 4 hour drive home.

Friendly and affordable! neat and clean!

Bathroom floor was dirty & hair in the corners, also found goldfish crackers under the bed. Breakfast was very disappointing & no group rate was offered for our team. Rates were very high for the quality of service we received. I made sure to mention it upon checkout and the gentleman at the counter did not seem concerned at all. Thanks Holiday Inn for treating your patrons like a check book & not as a valued customer.

Beautiful hotel/beautiful views located on the river! The stay was so comfortable and the staff was very friendly and courteous.
We had a late check in and there was a large group checking in ahead of us complaining, being loud and being very rude towards the young girl checking them in. All of them loudly threatening to give only one star to the hotel for overcharging.
I paid online and thought the price was well worth the accommodations.
The girl did not deserve being treated poorly like that at all by that group of people. However she held her composure and remained very sweet and calm. I commend her for that. Her name is Mandy and she honestly deserves a raise after having to deal with all of that on her own. She was such a sweet girl.

They double charge. I booked a room April 5th to the 8th for my friends wedding. They took my card info and charged it, upon check out they said my card was declined I showed them proof it was taken out via my cards bank statement they still made us pay. I was not only charged the room rate but also $60 more on my card. They said the money would be returned to my card in 3 business days. Well today is the 4th day and it is still not back on there. I have gone in and shown proof we were double charged and now they are telling me 10 to 14 days. We were charged $800 for 1 room for 3 days. I have to go back at 3 to talk to a manager today hoping I get my money back. This is ridiculous. Do not stay here.

Overcharged us keep giving us a run around right now thw have taken almost 800. For a 3 night stay that was suppose to be 366. I have all the reciepts the bookings the price it was suppose to be and how mich they took off the card and thwn made me pay in cash, never will be staying here again. And ao far we checked in on the 5th checked out on the 8th and they still havent taken care of the problem. Very dissatisfied! poor way to run a buisness.

We talked to Becca on the phone to confirm our reservation. She was a big help and answered a lot of questions! Very nice girl. Kevin checked us in, he was very professional and nice. Janeen helped us with more questions at night and accommodated us with the snack room. She was very nice! … Our room was cleaned by Nikki, it felt like no one had ever stayed in our room and like it was the very first time it was rented! Not one complaint! Everything was wonderful! Very spacious and comfortable. I loved the set up. Dawn also cleaned our room! She did a great job! And the last person to clean our room was Becca! She was THE BEST! We were still in the room when she was coming by. I just asked for towels because I didn’t want to be a pain and she went the extra mile and cleaned everything and made sure we had everything we needed! We were so grateful for her! She is just so wonderful at her job! Judy in breakfast was super nice, the food was delicious and they had a great variety! The cinnamon rolls were my favorite The pool was nice, little cold. The fitness room was amazing! Spent almost every morning in there. This is a very nice hotel! Lots of great amenities! Definitely going to return in the future!

Tops of headboards etc were not dusted. Toilet was wobbly, if you leaned slightly to one side the whole toilet would shift and make a thunk noise. Breakfast was mostly passable. Scrambled eggs and pork sausage was pretty salty. As an IHG member we could put a sign on our door to not have service to support being green. Ironically if you do this they then slide a signed sheet of paper under your door saying they didn't provide service and explaining the green program which seems counter productive to the entire concept. Save the paper and the ink. Edit: Also the Wi-Fi was pretty unreliable and slow which seems common with most hotels unfortunately.

I'm very pleased with the friendly and helpful service provided by the staff. They are very knowledgeable of the downtown area. The room was nice and had a great view of the water.

The hotel is nice and clean and we stayed last year same time. I was sad to see that the cinnamon rolls were changed at this location this time. Please go back to the original cinnamon rolls. These were not nearly as good and a lot drier. Rooms are huge and offer a lot of play space for our 18 month son. Parking is odd but at least ample.

Was here for a softball tournament and was willing to pay the $200 a night expecting a clean new hotel and breakfast in the morning that is pretty standard at Holiday Inn Express. The hotel was clean as expected but when we went down for breakfast with 25 minutes left there was absolutely nothing left! Not even spoons! When asked the lady told us it was done and we said we were told 10:00. You shouldn’t tell customers 10:00 if you mean 10:00 or until we are completely out of everything! Super frustrating… needless to say we had to go spend $30 for breakfast when we spent over $200 to stay her which by the way is double the price of every other hotel in town! Not impressed and next time we will stay elsewhere! I can see being out of a couple things but the whole place was empty and there were lots of people down there waiting to eat and the food never was filled back up!

Nice and clean. Decent breakfast. Seems like a lot of waisted space in the rooms though.

Really nice location and very clean. Great breakfast food and seating area. Helpful front desk.

Probably the newest and nicest hotel for miles. Had a great rest. Room featured a lot of cool ambient lighting and several usb and charging areas. Blinds are room darkening and allowed me to actually sleep in. Bathroom is very modern and all ladies will appreciate the fully lit giant square mirror. Pool was small, but very clean. Breakfast was good and also featured some tables that are smart device friendly with several outlets. I would stay here again when in Alpena.

The hotel is new and in a great location. The view of the river is nice. Housekeeping did not exchange the towels that were left on the floor as instructed by their card. Soap and shampoo bottles are barely big enough for two adults and are pretty low quality. Staff was helpful although we had to wait about 10 minutes for someone to check us in around 10:30 pm.

Excellent access to downtown Alpena and a terrific view of the river.

Loved it when I stayed with my Dad. Friendly caring staff and exceptionally clean rooms and facility.

We just wanted to give a shout out to Julie Allen and the staff at the Holiday Inn Express in Alpena. We had our wedding and reception there and everything was simply perfect. The staff went over and above making the day exceptionally perfect. Thank you so much!

Super friendly front desk staff and new hotel. Not very thick walls but other guest are very quiet and seemed to be spaced out so we are able to sleep alright :) Awesome location — every time I look out the window I feel happy. Such a beautiful, beautiful location!

The suite was spotless, the pool was perfect temp & not too strong with chlorine. The staff were friendly, personable & all had genuine smiles. The free breakfast had some good choices and the coffee was strong.

We enjoyed our stay. Our room was nice and the staff was very helpful. We will stay here again.

The nicest Holiday Inn Express that I've been to. The staff was friendly, the rooms were clean, and everything is very new. For what I paid, you can't beat it!

This was my first stay at this location. The hotel is very clean and rooms are very spacious. The king bed was very comfortable. The water pressure was weak, but that is the only thing I can complain about. Staff we're friendly and helpful. The room temperature was well maintained and comfortable. Breakfast was hot and what I would expect for the hotel chain. I would stay here again.

Nice new hotel in Alpena. Rooms are large and nicely laid out. The indoor pool and exercise area is very nice. They are within walking distance to numerous restaurants. The hot morning breakfast is great and has a very good selection. Stayed in the winter and enjoyed it. Look forward to staying in summer months to enjoy more of the area and water front.

Overall room set up was great, very roomy! However upon checking into our room we found an old nasty dirty towel sitting on the tub edge covered up by the shower lining. Brought it to managers attention on duty and he promptly came up and removed it. There was no offer to clean the tub, bathroom or move us to another room. The corner of the tub was filthy, bathroom floor had dirt spots all over it and the towel… Well. That sent me over the edge… I refused to even shower the next morning as I doubt the shower was ever cleaned because if it were the nasty towel would have been removed before our stay. Room itself was nice, beds were comfy but as stated before our bathroom was iffy.

Very new hotel — you can still smell new carpet in the hallways. Big rooms have very nice layouts with great bathrooms. If you have a river view, it's a very nice view. I would definitely recommend staying here.

The modern architecture might not fit everyone's taste but I loved it. Great location right next to a river with a nice walking trail and bridges so you can get some fresh air without getting in the car. There was a screw up with our reservation but the staff straightened out and we wound up with a better situation than we would have if there hadn't been a snafu. I highly recommend this hotel and would stay here again.

We are longtime visitors to the Alpena area, but this was our first time staying at this new, downtown, riverfront, national chain-affiliated express hotel. First, let me start by saying that although the hotel is conveniently located downtown, there are, at present, few walkable restaurant or shopping options after 5pm. Hopefully, this situation will improve in the future. Secondly, the facility's on-site parking is grossly insufficient during peak occupancy, especially as regards those spaces reserved for handicapped guests. On two of the three nights of our stay the number of handicap licensed vehicles exceeded the number of available reserved parking spots, necessitating the use of normal parking spots by such vehicles; including wheelchair accessible vehicles that each required the use of two normal parking spots. What on-site parking is available is designed to maximize the number of supposedly available spots, resulting in close quarters between parked vehicles and some difficulty for larger vehicles. Moreover, during our stay there were multiple commercial vehicles parked in the lot, exacerbating an already inconvenient situation. There is municipal parking near the facility, but one does not expect to have to park off-property at such lodging facilities. In short, we found the parking situation both frustrating and inconvenient.

This new hotel in downtown Alpena is awesome. So bright, clean, and cheery… within walking distance of some very nice galleries, bars, and restaurants. It's situated on the Thunder Bay River and half the rooms have a river view. The beds were thick and comfortable. The shower and bathroom were immaculate. Staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was great. Eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, cereal and all the usual continental breakfast items. You can't beat the location and the modern appeal of this hotel.

From the minute I walked into the hotel it was a pleasant experience. Continental breakfast was nice with a variety of things to eat! Restaurant's were walking or driving distance from the hotel. Everyone was nice! Great business trip!

Absolutely beautiful facility located on river and bike trail. Hotel only two months old with modern decor and beds super comfortable. Also, conveniently located to all downtown shopping and restaurants. We highly recommend it.

Recommend this hotel hands down! They were extremely accommodating. We had a wedding that began early afternoon an hour away from the hotel was able to get checked in early. The rooms were very clean, modern/up to date, beds comfy, and staff were very helpful with suggestions around town. Also the view of it right on the water was a added bonus!

Check in was at 3. However our room wasnt available until 330. We were in town for 1 of the 2 weddings that this hotel was receiving. They were very under staffed for having knowledge of both events. Rooms however were very nice. Location is right downtown and close to the water. Great breakfast available in the morning. My only complaint would be the under staffing. And I didn't see a manager present.

It is a very nice place to stay with great places to eat near by. You will not be disappointed with this motel and/or the local restaurants near by.

Nice new hotel but the walls seem thin. You can hear the people next door and in the hallway. Rooms are nice though.

I am getting married on Aug 19, and planned on having my out of town guests book their rooms here since its walking distance from our reception. For a couple of weeks I had guests who were calling and being told a wide range in pricing for the same standard room on the same date. I also had some guests being told there was no availability for our date, while other guests were being told there was. Since we were having a lot of miscommunication, my fiance and I decided to phys…ically go into the hotel and book our room (s) for our date. The girl at the front desk checked our date and told us there were rooms still available for our date, but very few, so we went ahead and booked. She took our credit card info, wrote our confirmation number on a post — it, confirmed us for check in Aug 19th, and check out Aug 20th, and off we went. We told our friends to hurry up and call to book since she JUST told us there were a few rooms left, and once again they were being told the entire hotel was booked. The next day we decided to go up AGAIN just to double check, and the man working the desk confirmed that there is zero availability for our date. I asked him to look up our confirmation number to make sure we got the right room we asked for, and he told us that our room had actually been reserved for August 1st instead of August 19th. A 3 week difference in dates!

Gorgeous new facility. Short walk to shopping and fabulous eating — we loved The Fresh Palate! Bed was super comfy with a view of the river. And when we stupidly walked out and left our coats hanging in the closet, they promptly mailed them to us! Highly recommend.

Brand new hotel right in the downtown area. It's walking distance to many restaurants, water front and movie theater. The hotel is very nice with great features like walk in showers and large flat screen tv. Friendly staff as well.

We stayed here for a little over a week visiting Alpena, while my husband worked. The staff is amazing! Our housekeepers were by far the sweetest and most thoughtful people! It was the perfect place to stay, we were within walking distance of everything down town and the view of the canal with all the geese and their babies from the back patio are gorgeous! This was one of the best vacations we have had and Alpena's Holiday Inn made it so much more enjoyable! Thank you all!

The building and rooms were very impressive. The work out run although at the time only had one bench tje room it self was modern. The only down side to me was the size of the pool and lack of a hot tub… I guess everything can't be perfect. Still was a very nice stay and I'll be returning soon.

Great people. Can't wait for it to open.

As of 4/10/2017, this hotel is still under construction. It is nearing completion and will be a nice place to stay.

Can't wait for this place to open!
