We stopped here for a night during our cross country trek — we were all tired & sore & needed to find a (pet friendly) place to stay for the night. There are several options available in this area, however when I learned that there was a Maid-Rite nearby we HAD to go for nostalgic reasons! My expectations weren't high… a small hotel in "the middle of nowhere" that allowed us to bring our fur babies & cost less than $100/night? Boy was I wrong! The front desk staff was very friendly, even offering suggestions for places to find a late night meal. The 2, queen bed, room we stayed in had been completely overhauled — brand new beds, clean linens, the bathroom was imaculate, (the water pressure was perfect), fresh wallpaper, laminate flooring, flat screen TV with Direct TV! The facility is completely smoke-free, which is especially great. They are connected to a WATER PARK, too! (We didn't have time to use it, however we walked through & it looked like a nice place to visit with kiddos). There was a great restaurant, on site, that has a nice selection of delicious, inexpensive breakfast options, as well. — The only downside was that we stayed on the upper floor & there aren't any elevators, (not an issue for us, but someone w/a lot of luggage &/or an ailment that makes climbing stairs difficult should definitely ask for a first floor room). — We has an amazing visit & we'll definitely be returning when we come back this way!

This hotel is a very quaint, fun place to spend the night! After being on the road for 12 hours, Janet greeted us warmly. She is simply the best! The water park is HUGE and the hot tub has jets that you can control. Perfect place to spend the night!

Water park is not real big but still fun for the kids. It makes it easier to keep an eye on the kids while they are playing.

Easy to get to off I80. I did not stay in the actual hotel but did visit the water park. The interior of the hotel seemed as if it was quite the glamorous ticket years past but it seems there is a need for a renovation of sorts. However the water park was quite reasonable and was in good shape. I believe the water park is better suited for smaller children however. I would go again.

Decided to try a night get away with my kids. Pictures on their website are old. The place is dated. There's nothing around anymore, miniputt, shops, etc. Our room had food crumbs all over it. When lifting up the mattresses they were tore and EXTREMELY old. It smelled like mold, cigarette smoke and the trash looked like it hadn't been changed for a month. Needless to say I asked for my money back and left. Do not go here. I would not recommend it to anyone.

Clean, no frills, but cheap. This is not the place for you if you are a poshy fuss pot, so keep looking. AC in my room 182 worked. But it took some few minutes of fiddling to get it to go. Coffee included in room, tv. We didn't try any of the many things to do, such as the wooden playground, the mini golf, or the pools.

Only reviewing the waterpark, not the hotel. It’s small, but considering the fact that it’s inside a hotel, it’s decent. It could use some updating. The hotel interior in the lobby and hallway are nice. It has 2 big slides, a kiddie area, a pool with basketball hoop, an arcade, and a whirlpool.

Run down hotel — NO elevators — No ice machines on second floor like it says there is — rough towels — in desperate need of renovation — rooms and Waterpark need a lot of help — hall way smells — doors to our side look like you need the key to enter but they don’t meaning anyone could enter — no menus available and no times available for when the food is available — no information in room about the hotel and what it offers — you have to pay extra for Waterpark which is not mentioned on website. Very disappointed for the price. Would highly recommend other Iowa water park hotels. Pool freeZing and hot tub was almost too hot …

We only came for the water park. Kids ages 11, 6, and 5, loved every part and played for three hours straight. All three of them loved the park. They hit every spot, from the little kids zone, the hot tub, the slides, and the regular pool. Will def return.

Facility needs some updating. Shower had room temp hot water at best. Water park isn't huge but does have some good options for multiple ages. Maybe a 2.5 star rating if there was an option. Staff we interacted with were nice.

If I could give no/0 stars, I would. I planned my kids 6th birthday party for the jungle gym water park for this weekend, I specifically asked the guy at the desk if it would be open, he said yes, now I’m here and it’s shut down! I have watched my son cry and I’m super disappointed. The service is horrible also. They should’ve given somewhat of a discount but of course not! I will never com back. I’m so upset I have to stay another night. My advice, don’t spend your money here, go to a regular hotel with a regular pool. It’ll be be way better, I promise! So sad… we were so excited : (

Overall not bad place to stay. Right off the I-80. Staff is usually friendly and helpful. Stayed several times. Last time we stayed room was very cold as there was a crack letting in cold air at the room heater. So had to turn up heat. Waterpark is good hot tub is big and hot.

The staff here is fabulous. Michael at the desk was great. We booked 6 rooms for a family Christmas gathering. Everyone had a good time. Even the housekeeping staff is friendly and accommodating. The grandkids loved the water park. They also have free movie night. The rooms are comfortable and clean.

A great hotel and modest yet fun water park. My extended family used to hold our winter reunion here, and I have never had a bad experience at this hotel. The staff is very friendly and even the restaurant inside is outstanding with cheap, yummy German food. Try their root beer, it's the best I've ever had!

Upon check in, went to the room and found dark hairs all over the bed. Front desk Renee was super helpful and upgraded our room. The upgraded room included a microwave. The lamps didn't really turn on and the light switch would sometimes work. Updated bathroom was nice with the three mirrors. Water park is a strong term I would not use to describe this resort. Definitely targeted to families with small children, only a hot tub for the adults. The pool area was clean though. Not bad for a one night stay off the highway but nothing to spend a weekend at.

We have been here 3 times in as many years. The water park is great fun for the kids during Iowa winters. I was glad to see the snack shack was back up and running g — a nice place for the older adults who can handle the humidity pool side — and the new bar area is a nice touch for adults to unwind at the end of the night. We had a couple issues with the quality of cleaning on our first stay, but the staff really bent over backwards our second stay and the rooms were spotless.

Pictures on website need to be updated, to show the updates of property and amenities… Friendly Staff, Nice owners… Can definitely tell, UPGRADES are being made, and Attention to Detail is growing at this hotel. Would recommend and do recommend this hotel to my friends and family.

Great family hotel. Staff were very friendly. Lots of activities for the children. Rooms were nice and clean with comfortable beds. The breakfast at the restaurant was excellent.

This is a great family hotel! The waterpark is awesome, so is the hot tub. They really want to help and make your stay great. There's a nice bar, movie night (popcorn too), great playground and other activities to participate in. It's not a new hotel and it shows some wear but it's clean and well kept. We will definitely be back!

If you can ignore the musky smell cute little water park and 2 large slides. Rooms were clean and friendly staff. The kiddie pool area the day we were there was not heated but they were Very Nice and refunded us the water park fee. The water park is not included in the room another reason it only got 3 stars.

This place was a life saver! Traveling all day and could not find a motel or hotel due to everyone traveling up to this area for the Iowa State Fair and the Solar Eclipse. The lady at the front Desk was super nice. They allowed our dog no questions asked. My 10 and 6 year old boys loved the indoor water park. I would have given a 5 star but didn't due to the noise from the guests of a wedding party hanging out right outside our window until 11 or 12, and though the rooms were clean and well kept they did seem a bit out dated. Would definitely stay there again.

I would give only 4.5 stars — but since the staff was so friendly and amazing I am giving 5 stars. Our room was super clean — my family loved the pool area. The golf needed some updates and a few games were down in the game room but we had a great time and this was a small vacation after Girl Scout Camp and a Soft Ball Tournament so it was nice! We will come again and stay longer next time! The staff at the front desk was wonderful — it didn't matter who helped us — everyone was super friendly! Thank you for awesome service — that is hard to find!

This is an older hotel but the rooms appear to have been renovated semi-recently. The water park is small but better than a normal hotel pool. Restaurant is mediocre, but the food it's fine. The staff is very friendly and happy to help.

Clean and comfortable, despite a bit of a wet smell (obviously from the water park). We took a double room with a king sized bed & bunks for the kids. Was comfortable. Decor is a bit dated (70s), but totally fine. We were just overnight guests so didn't get to see the water park.

The water park is a great time for the little ones. Most people are super friendly and you get that down home country feel to the place. Down side is small pillows "kinda like throw pillows" and it always seems like something is going wrong in the pool area. I still come here so the place is alright to me.

It's easy to find. The front desk people are very helpful. The water park was a great time for all of us. They have a park and a mini golf course that comes with your stay. A few shops that sell things from the area. Overall it was a good stay.

Hot tube didn't work, no hot water in the room. People were friendly. Food in restaurant was average.

Our kids had a blast in the pool! We stopped here to break up a long 8 hour drive to our destination. Did not disappoint! Water was surprisingly warm for a hotel pool. Our room was very nice and the beds were extremely comfortable! We also enjoyed some of the best bacon in the cafe for breakfast! Great stay! Would highly recommend.

We went to the water park for a birthday party. Did not stay in the hotel. The water features for smaller kids was closed, so we only got to use half of it. The lifeguards were horrible. They spent very little time even looking at the swimming area. One of them disappeared into the arcade while the other was busy testing the water, leaving the pool unattended. When it was addressed with one of them, he swore at my friend and threatened to kick her out, until he was informed that we had been recording them and their neglect. After that, they became very attentive.

I went to wasserbahn for the pool then to leave. When we checked in and went to the pool it was not like we had expected. There were only 2 big slides and 2 little pools besides the kiddie section. Plus a hot tub. But anyways it was very small so soon we left and got only half of our money back.

Cons No hot water in the shower Dryer was broken Ice machine barely worked 2 broken lamps in our room No microwave Tiny TV Stains all over the ceiling Bug in the bed Room smells like mildew Dead and live spiders in the shower No housekeeping Dead bird on the sidewalk and eggs ***Beware of the maidrite/godfathers pizza. The employees are not friendly. We waited an hour for pizza which we ended up not getting because they forgot to make it.

Food was ok for a small town. Didn't stay at the hotel. Service was excellent. Regular food not anything great. Worth the price for what you get.

I stayed there on 1/16/16. The water park was okay. It was nothing special and with the slides being closed down the pool and kids area was over populated. The water in the hot tub was cold. There was never enough towels at the front desk for the water park. Every time I went to exchange towels I was told that they was in laundry and would be 30 minutes. I would come back and towels still not ready. Even 1st thing on Sunday 1/17/16 I was told no towels. I was not very pleased and will not go back. I was not impressed with the rooms either. Our toilet kept backing up every time you flushed it. I am currently in dispute with them over my credit card being charged twice.

Good price for a water park for the kids. Could use some updating. Very nice staff.

For the price the hotel and waterpark wasn't bad. The waterpark was on the small side and very busy. Because of the cold weather the two sides were closed. The kid pool was very cold and the air temperature in pool area was very cold and almost unenjoyable.

The Waterpark was great especially with the kids. The room was nice and spacious. They even played the minions movie at 10 pm on christmas eve. I will definitely stay there again in the future.

Very nice location by the river, and a very good grocery store is extremely close to the hotel so it's easy to buy microwave dinners and such.

In July I had my last great experience using the water park. I have called twice since, inquiring about coming in with my grandkids to visit the waterpark. Both times I was discouraged and told that it was not a good idea to come up on a weekend if I wasn't stating at the hotel as a guest! I have been going there with them for the last six years. The last conversation I had was with Michael who identified as the manager and after telling me that I needed to call that day to see if the water park could accommodate me and my grandkids he hung up on me in mid sentence! The worst customer service ever! I'll never be back and I won't feel bad when these owners go bankrupt either and Michael had to look for another job. Don't come to me! This is too bad because this place has always held a special place in my heart.

All of the arcade games were broken, the water slide was closed because some staff member called in sick and they were short staffed. The hot tub was closed because of the high clorination. The staff that was there was extremely rude. The room supplied a coffee maker but no cups to drink it in. When ask at the front desk if we could get some coffee cups they told us to use the plastic water cups in the bathroom. What a horrible experience. Next time we'll stay at a hotel closer to the Amana colonies.

Refused to give extra linens and pillows when requested. Extremely rude staff at the front desk. I would highly recommend that people look elsewhere for a place to stay.

Our family booked online without seeing the hotel. We were disappointed with the run down state of the hotel. Sad on a long journey to not close the day in a nicely upkept place. Needs tlc and a remodel. We didn't arrive in time to enjoy the water park, and left before the park opened the next day. Pictures online are never accurate, hard to see the details.

It was an awful stay. The water park hot tub was so chlorinated that it cause my swim shirt that was purple to change to pink, my son's asthma to flare up to the point that we had to leave and burn our eyes as we used it. The beds were so soft that you sank to the middle. We used the hotel restaurant for supper and notice that all the window seals had dead flies and the service was very slow. The TV was very limited for channels. We did however have fun on the mini golf just before we left. They aren't handicapped accessible either. There is no elevator, when booking we we're told about that.

I did not use the waterpark so I can only speak for the hotel room and service. After awful experiences at both the nearby Heritage Inn and Motel 6, it was a refreshing change to be greeted with a warm smile and great customer service. The room was up-to-date, clean and comfortable. The next time through, we intend to stay for the waterpark and village shopping, cute place.

The waterpark is finally reopen, thank God. After one year I thought this place would never re-open. The new renovations and upgraded equipment really make a difference. The bar is now open also so parents can have some fun also.

My daughter is a freshman at the University of Iowa and we came out to help her get settled in her dorm. My family stayed at the Ramada and it was great. I found out that there is new ownership and they were super hospitable, friendly and helpful. The waterpark just reopended and my 10 year old son absolutely loved it. Great fun, great new ownership and just a really terrific trip to Iowa.
