We love Holiday Inn hotels & this one is extremely pet friendly. Good area out front for dogs! The brick is a little hard to navigate with a cart, but that's life. Parking is in back & only way to take the dogs out is down the back stairs & out a door that locks from the outside or through the lobby. Clean enough room and comfy bed. Nice big Tv. The restaurant downstairs had enough tasty choices to eat there for at least a few days. And was nice to be able to just run down & get food, with the fur kids. Reasonably priced. Pool & hot tub looked small, luckily we weren't really there to swim. Unfortunately there isn't much to do around it, because I would go back. It is just a few blocks from the trolley though and there's a few cool shops and bars. Artwork in room was ugly but cool in lobby. Nice enough staff & people.

It's clean and has great staff. The parking is a different story. There is no where to park if your handicap. They only have 4 spots for handicap. I had to walk up stairs with a bad leg and back.

Wonderful place to stay and perfect location!
We especially enjoyed our time at the hotel restaurant/bar-Nancy and all of the other staff made us feel right at home!

Great experience so far. Private time on the pool due to coronavirus but it has been great. Clean and big rooms. Great little restaurant downstairs and large lobby with lots to do.

We attended a wedding reception and everything was amazing… good food, and atmosphere… We also stayed the night extremely clean rooms, and very comfy beds. Staff was also wonderful, highly recommend!

From the beginning, the Holiday Inn’s Catering & Event Manager was attentive, friendly, professional, and engaged. Throughout the planning process, she remained responsive and flexible. Specifically, she recommended solutions to fit within our tight budget constraints while maintaining an elegant party.
We couldn’t have asked for a better partner to host our event with. We are truly satisfied with the outcome of our event. We received many compliments from seasoned employees who have been to 30+ holiday parties, stating that the venue was perfect for our company. Having free covered parking and a hotel room block for our guests was an added bonus! We would recommend all companies to consider working with the Holiday Inn for their events.

It's been a while since we stayed at the hotel but will be back very soon and the river front district is really looking great. The service was great.

Very clean and nice place, great restaurant on sight. Pool was nice and has great surrounding bars and close to the casino.

I am part of a bus tour that had booked the rooms 6 months ago. The hotel was aware of the arrival time. Members of our group waited 2 hrs to get their room & still didn’t have their bags by the time we left for dinner.

I always enjoy my stay at the Holiday Inn Dubuque. Your staff always does an incredible job to make my stay there fantastic. I look forward to next year's bowling tournament because I'll be staying here again.

Great renovation on the restaurant. Good menu with a special note for the table side guac and the pork chops. Ribs are touch and go; if they are good, they are some of the best. If they are dry… not so much.

Good overall hotel. Perfect location for attending a concert at the five flags center, which is across the street. I would have thought breakfast was included but it was not. We had the king one bedroom suite. The living room area was a little small there were only 2 of us do it was ok. We initially thought the room was missing the fridge as it was not by the sink and coffee maker where looked to be a space for it. It was in the living room, but it was a nice size mini fridge with separate freezer on top. One thing that was odd and frankly annoying was that although there was a ton of wall space, there was not a single full length mirror in the room. I had too pull a chair from the living room desk into the bathroom to look at my clothes. But still overall a good stay — the bed was comfortable and there was separate temperature control for living room and bedroom. And there was a door that closed in between.

GREAT hotel. Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They have a game room, rec room, pool, and commissary that sells postcards and stamps (so many hotels sell postcards but not stamps). There's also a restaurant and bar that I didn't go to. Rates were reasonable and facilities were spotless. The only dark spot is there where loud guests in the room next to ours, but that didn't last long and isn't worth losing a star over. I will definitely be back.

The room was great. Hallways were wide. Lobby looked nice and the restaurant looked like it would have been a great place to eat or drink had I stopped by. Located in a good spot. Overall had a good stay!

Very nice hotel. Staff was super friendly. Only thing we didn't like was when we were going to our room, a door opened and a dog jumped out onto my husband. I understand people wanting to bring their dogs but the could have them one one side or even warn guests people have dogs there. Other than that it was great.

First of all, it is a Holiday Inn, not the Four Seasons, so a lot of the complaints I see are just not valid. The good news is that the beds were super comfy, and the place appears well managed. Staff were very accommodating. The restaurant was the big surprise — Excellent. Highly recommended. But the pool is a joke, — they shouldn't let people think they even have one, because its tiny. Forget laps or exercise. Naturally, kids will love it. The building is clumsily laid out and butt ugly. The city was clearly desperate for this hotel. Anyway, excellent location and decent value.

Very nice and had a wonderful experience with having my father in law in town. Were willing to work with him when he arrived a day early.

Beautiful older hotel that is being well maintained. Check in was quick. Clean, nice room. Only one problem. A train whistle woke us up at approximately 4:30 a. M. Two more trains with loud whistles followed that. If your a light sleeper like me you might want to stay elsewhere. Other then that it was fine.

It's a nice hotel. Parking is tight, but free. Overall it's nice. If I'm in the area I'd stay here again.

I travel all over Iowa and Illinois for my job. This Holiday Inn is always one of the cleanest hotels we stay at. It can get a little loud when events are going on, but overall I always look forward to stay in here.

The hotel was clean. The interior design and architecture was beautiful. The staff was great. The food in the on-site restaurant was great. Recommended.

We stayed here to attend a wedding. When leaving the staff asked how we enjoyed the wedding. The breakfast buffet was hot and tasty. The room was tidy.

Great location and awesome prices. However, I feel they should offer a free breakfast since there is an awesome dinner open at 6am next door.

Heat/AC unit did not work. Parking is available but not marked. The building itself seems to have only one sign. Each side of the building needs a sign. Parking garage needs better signs explaining what businesses are near. Even inside there needs to be many more signs for front desk and elevator locations.

Banquet room staff wasn't friendly, the pool and hot tub were very small, and the staff didn't know how to work the banquet room TV. The bartender for the banquet room was okay. They decided to turn the TV off during the end of an important football game in order to make everyone leave the room. The night bartender at bar inside the hotel was friendly and attentive. During the evening it was hard to get a drink. Breakfast in the morning didn't taste that great. It was slow and the staff didn't seem to care.

Nice downtown location. Rooms were clean and bed was very comfortable. Staff was friendly and helpful. Only problem was the lights in the bathroom over the sink were not operating so it was difficult to see when getting ready.

Nice clean centrally located hotel with restaurant, bar, meeting rooms, pool and hot tub. Staff is excellent! Always cheerful and ready to help. Food is also good.

Lovely staff. Quiet rooms and good parking. Though getting in to the different levels of parking was confusing.

The walls are paper thin, and we had some noisy neighbors about 2:00am, but the room was clean and the staff was friendly, efficient and professional. I would like to specifically thank two women. After we checked out, I realized I’d forgotten a bag that included a few items of sentimental value. We promptly turned around, and I called. The woman at the front desk was helpful and said she’d give me a key and I could run back up. The woman cleaning the room had already placed it in a plastic bag, ready to take to the front desk. When I told her thank you, she smiled and replied, “You’re welcome. ” THIS is excellent customer service, and I appreciate it greatly!

Easy check in/out. Beds were extremely firm. Nice hot showers. Friendly front desk staff. Walking distance to places downtown.

Great full service hotel. The Five Flags Center is just across the street. Excellent shopping and dining are within a few blocks.

We had a really good stay here. We where here for a number of nights. It was quite and clean. It is everything you'd expect from a Holiday Inn. And dogs are welcome!

Stayed 2 nights here to finish our week long road trip. Room was very cozy and room service was excellent! We were pretty exhausted from the drive so didn't take the opportunity to check out the bar and restaurant, but as I said the room service was excellent and the food was great. Would definitely stay here again! Also they are very pet friendly, Paco says thanks :)

The hotel is nice and the staff are friendly. Forgot my wallet and the staff made accommodations to have it delivered to me. If you are reading this, thank you so much. You guys are a lifesaver.

It was really nice inside. We were unable to stay overnight due to being filled but the service desk was able to find us a place nearby to stay at and also reserve a room to make sure we could book the room when we arrived. They were very helpful and welcoming!

It was a very nice place when we pulled up on our bike to get a room as we were on our mini honeymoon! Checked in to get a room and got one asked where some good bars were at since we weren't from the area! Also where we could do some karaoke! Got to our room and it still had trash and pizza boxes on the bench like house keeping forgot it and this was at 8pm! Went down to tell the lady and she gave us a new room! She asked what she could do to make it better for us I told her to take off money off the room she said they can't do that! Can give you your breakfast for free! Well why ask what we would like if you can't do it! Also for what we paid for the room we should've gotten breakfast for free regardless! 2ND room was perfect and did it's job for us the a/c didn't work as good as it could've! Didn't want to complain about that since we already had problems with the other room!

Had our family reunion at this property and they were SUPER to work with! Our party room was lovely all set up for a great time! The staff was attentive and caring — — the food was excellent! The convenience to downtown and free parking made this a great place to gather. Our guest rooms were beautiful, clean and a lovely view of the bridge and courthouse. THANK you to the manager and to the staff!

We had a nice stay here. The attached bar/restaurant is convenient. They also had a pretty good breakfast. If you ask. You can purchase a coupon at the front desk (in advance) for breakfast… it saved us $5 or so. Also… hotel is Pet friendly :) … pet fee was very reasonable too!

We will always stay here when we come to Dubuque. The staff was friendly, the rooms beautiful, there is a shuttle that will take you to the casino. Why would you want continental breakfast when there are so many wonderful coffee shops within just a few blocks walking distance? The hotel is even pet friendly! Wonderful place to stay in this beautiful city.

We held our wedding ceremony and reception here. These are my reviews from it —
I will start with a good comment — we had a blast. It was a fun wedding and beautiful ceremony.
Some positives:
1. The ceremony room worked perfectly for the amount of guests.
2. The dinner was delicious!
3. The head table seemed to be taking up too much space after dinner — so when I asked to tear it down, it happened in minutes. Along with a few other tables to free up space.
4. We were able to get into the rooms first thing Friday morning to decorate — that helped out a ton!
5. We were provided 2 "Get ready" rooms for the girls and girls the morning of the wedding which was wonderful.
6. We were provided a free suite for the night. Here are the negatives:
1. E-mail response — I felt it took weeks sometimes to get a response to a simple question. And sometimes when I did get a response, I got no answer to my question.
2. The bartenders being unfriendly. Many of my guests complained about them. The would not give out pitchers (Even for the head table).
3. When I originally booked the venue, I was told it could hold up to 27 tables = 270 people. This was highly inaccurate. We had 23 tables and it felt extremely packed. I honestly felt as though it was too crowded with 23 tables. I think it is more fit for around 200 people. Luckily, we were able to tear a few tables down after dinner to free up some space.

This Holiday Inn was " abused "
With a facelift, no matter how much makeup you applied the yrs of abuse can't be covered up.
The elevator to your far right, use extreme caution, the inner panel will not latch shut and will open freely when in motion.
The bathroom: kamode was cracked and although new, the shower drain although would drain a simple 5 to 10 min. Shower will have you standing in water…
"Room with a view" of the roof top air units and dish network dishes.
The hotel van will pick you up and drop you off at the local casinos
As long as you don't mind listening to his complaints about how he works two jobs both a driver and a janitorial staff.
Coffee to go "down stairs" good luck they have no back up pot so when it's empty hope your not trying to catch a flight out you'll miss your flight

I booked this hotel at the "book early" rate. Apparently, that means there are no refunds on cancellations. Okay… fair enough. I asked the front desk rep what we could do for a partial reimbursement since it was looking like I wasn't going to be able to take the the vacation I'd intended to (this was 48+ hrs in advance). There was absolutely no willingness in trying to help me out. Only book if you're 100% you're staying there, haha.

I went to this hotel for a business meeting with best buy. The first room that we got was okay but the instructor wanted half round tables and the projector was not in a good position. About halfway through the day the ceiling started leaking. The second weekend that I was here we got kicked out of our room and got put into a tiny room. The room was about the size of a small living room. And it was sad!

It wasn't bad, great service at the desk. Rooms are great. Parking can maybe be a bit crowded.

The old guy at the front desk, Dan told me specifically that Homeland Security watches this Hotel on a regular basis. Literally just making things up at 9pm. Just give me my room and stfu. I was not impressed.

River Rock was a pretty good place for food and drinks. Few little things I think will probably get worked out over time.

Lobby and reception great. Modern. Up to date. But then went on to take the elevator to the third floor to my room and I almost turned back. Elevator and third floor hallway were dirty, faded and scary to be honest. Room was alright. Not what I expected for this price. Won't be back at this location.

It's currently being remodeled (Dec. 2015) but looks nearly finished. It's easy to drive to, plenty of parking, and very clean. Every staff member was genuinely nice; room service breakfast was prompt and tasty (and it was reasonably priced), and it's pet friendly! We will definitely stay again on our next visit.

We stayed two nights, and enjoyed our stay! The staff was very friendly. Close to Casinos, they shuttled us to and from and the drivers were super nice! Room was very clean and the bed was soooo comfy!

The garage and parking area is ok. Space is limited I get it. But offer a solution at the desk when we check in. Its clearly an issue. The lighting in the hotel is so dim its difficult to see the dirt and debris left from the help. The food is ok. Nothing to write home to Mom about. The décor needs a huge over haul and the rooms were just ok. I travel a lot and try and use HI. Might look else where. Last thing the reward program is horrible. You have to spend thousands of dollars to get one free night. The hotel that comes out with a better rewards program will get my business.
