There is way too much noise from kids and drunk parents blairing a radio and yelling right outside our room in pool area. Kids were supposed to be out of pool at 10 pm, were finally told by staff to get out at 1035 pm. Adults only from 10 to 11 pm but there is a mob of kids hanging down in area making so much noise. Will never come back here.

Had a great time here very nice people great rooms great food I'd recommend it to anyone!

Nice place to stay, friendly staff, convenient restaurant next door, bit loud on the weekends though with unrestrained kids charging up and down the landings.

They even allow your fur babies here. Very friendly staff, indoor pool, game room it will keep the kiddos busy.

We love everything about this place. From the friendly staff, excellent restaurant, to the layout of the hotel, pool, hot tub, pool table, air hockey, and ping pong tables. It’s wonderfully designed and offers so much for all. We enjoy staying here as often as we can.

We weren’t expecting much from this hotel, literally just a place to sleep while we visited family in the area. Apparently that was asking too much. We didn’t use the pool or even have breakfast here as we were spending time with family. A manager told us rooms near the pool were noisy so we asked for one away from the pool. We ended up on the other side of the hotel and it’s still incredibly loud. The walls are paper thin, the room smells like old smoke and there are no screens in the windows so we can’t even air out our room. The mattress and pillows are terrible. I have 3 pillows stacked up and they not the height of one normal pillow. We had to call the front desk about the room next to us (twice) and the front desk even disparaged the kind of guests the hotel usually gets. Not a good recommendation even from staff here. Absolutely do not waste your money on this place. Counting down the hours until we leave in the morning.

Very nice place lots of walking room in the rooms. Pool is warm not cold when you get in it, well endless you get in the jacuzzi first then its a little cold. Nice employees.

Everything about this place is amazing. However the mattresses were too soft for my back. They seemed pretty worn and should be replaced with premium matresses.

Rooms were fine, but they pack people into the hotel like sausages. Had I known they wouldn’t enforce their own covid safety rules, I would have gone elsewhere.

Wonderful hotel for family. They have a tropical atrium with a pool, hot tub, ping pong tables, pool table & lots of seating for visiting or playing games.

Very convenient and something fun for the kids to do!

Hotel was very nice. Check in staff was friendly. Only complaint is that my husband was in the jacuzzi (which is open till 10), no one else around, at 10 on the dot a woman (employee) told him to get out. She could have been more courteous. He came back to the room and told me he felt like he was scolded like a child.

I got married here recently and Diana was AMAZING to work with! They were very open to a lot of ideas I had. They were able to accommodate 200+ guest. Neither mine nor the groom’s family lived in Dubuque so we were able to block off several rooms (for free and was not charged for the rooms left in our block). The venue was gorgeous. I would recommend this venue for your wedding!

Had to leave a night early just because of the noise. Was extremely disappointed. Two nights of loud people in the room next door, in the halls and a dog barking constantly. Left at 10PM to drive three hours home. Lovely hotel otherwise.

Hotel was great clean rooms, comfortable beds and the kids loved the pool. I would have to say though do not eat at the Old Chicago restaurant that is attached to the hotel. Horrible service and food was awful. We waited an hour for a salad, grilled cheese and spaghetti. No drink refills were offered. Ceiling was dripping water, no manager in site. Grilled cheese was bread with a slice of cheese not even melted and my salad was made incorrectly twice. Would definitely stay at the hotel again but order delivery.

I was visiting the area for work. I only stayed one night so I don't have a long term experience. The hotel was nice. They have a pool area and you can have a view that faces into the area. The down fall on that is because there was a gap between the door and the floor, the room smelled of chlorine. When you walk it to the hotel, there is no mistake that they have a pool. But honestly, it was a good experience. The staff was friendly and made you feel welcome.

Hotel is located conveniently in Dubuque, outside of downtown but right off the main highway. Friendly staff. Clean rooms that are updated and high quality. Large indoor pool area. Attached restaurant provides lunch/dinner, also the location for the complimentary breakfast. Would highly recommend staying here.

Friendly staff for sure. Enjoyed my stay. The room was very clean, smelled gorgeous, and bathroom was fully stacked with toiletries. The restaurant is adjacent to the hotel (very convenient). Breakfast was always warm and there's enough of everything. My stay was enjoyable and pleasant. Despite being the only Hispanic during my stay, everyone was super nice.

My new Favorite Hotel. A friend recommended it. The shower makes you want to skip your plans and just stay in it! :-) Clean, friendly and just an all around great place to stay.

This hotel was our family's bet choice for all the amenities it had to offer, but please be aware they are non smoking rooms and some guest do not abide by the rules, which in turn causes issues for the next tenants. The swimming pool was a little cool an the hot tub a little to hot, but overall for the money was a great family stay with a full buffet breakfast and lots space.

Ate at Old Chicago attached to the Best Western hotel. Manicotti dish was delicious, but disappointed with price that no salad or soup and bread came with it. Love the remodel. Waited 45 min for food, but for first time opening, that was fine. In fact, the host said that the kitchen was 40 min behind. That's what I call customer service!

Great hotel! Friendly staff, a big pool and lounge area, and comfy beds. But the best part was the amazing shower. I actually had water pressure! It was a nice surprise to enjoy a shower in a hotel for a change :-) Close to all the shopping in Dubuque.

Great hotel for team/group travel! Large atrium with variety of activities and ample space for gathering. Prices were very reasonable for the value received.

Our stay here was great! We had two adjoining poolside rooms and the service we received and the rooms were exceptional. They have a nice pool area as well as a ping pong ball and pool table. There are plenty of areas to sit and visit or have a meal if you prefer not to dine in your room. The restaurant offers room service until 10 pm and a nicer than usual complementary hot breakfast that rotates various breakfast items along with the standard eggs and sausage. This is definitely a place we would stay again.

This was the best hotel I have stayed in recently. The room was clean, spacious, smelled nice and the beds were excellent. The large pool and hot tub were sparkling clean and clear. We enjoyed the free use of the ping pong table under the atrium. The breakfast selection was extensive and high quality. And to top it all off, the room rate was economical.

Very Clean! Accepted Pets. I was a little nervous because we brought our dog and they said we had to stay in a pet friendly room. To my surprise it was very clean. No foul smells at all. Very friendly staff Great Breakfast. We will definately stay here again!

We had guests next to us that were noisy with kids running up and down the hall, knocking on their door and talking. This was no part the Hotel fault. When I called to complain, two times mind you, they had sent someone immediately to take care of the situation. Just wish the guest next to us would have been respectful to other guests in the Hotel. I would stay here again if I had to. Room was nice and bed was comfortable. Breakfast in morning was a good start to the day as well.

We checked in and were speechless. Everything was top. The service and also the staff. The room was very clean and the breakfast was very good.

But: then the families came with the children. A party took place. Finished with rest. The children ran around in the pool area, jumped into the pool and also into the whirlpool. The parents if they were there, it didn't matter.
Written in our room on a slip of paper if something does not correspond to a 9 or 10, report it at the desk.
Said Done. But the Lord was very interested in it. I said that the children are very noisy and also romp around in the whirlpool although this is only from 14j. His answer: Yes I know.
Nothing happened. When I asked how long they were there, he said the party's going to be at 9:00.
OK, at 21.30 was still everything at the old. His answer: I know. But tomorrow and the day after tomorrow (Friday & Saturday) is the pool area of 22.00 — 23.00 only for adults. Wow 1h at this price.
On Friday it seems that it is going to be quieter. We could even be in the spa. But by 18.30 it was over. Again everything from the front.
We had the Schn. Ze full and checked out after 2 nights even though we had paid 4. So much for the subject, we want a 9 or 10 as a rating. Not from us. Sorry so before booking to clarify how many parties are planned.

It’s hard for me to rate this hotel over 3 stars. 4 stars+ are reserved for luxury brands. In its class, it’s above average. It’s good. Staff is super helpful. Hotel is weirdly laid out necessitating car travel from sleeping room to seminar room but in single digit temps would you do otherwise? My standard King Size room was pleasant and comfortable except for the noisy heating system. Everything else was good. Advice: skip the restaurant at lunch. Staff is frazzled and slow.

Great property, very friendly staff, excellent location for skiing at Sundown Mountain. The 2 Queen-bed room was spacious, clean, and up to date. Plenty of TV channels; fast, free Wi-Fi connection. Great complimentary breakfast, but note that if you need a very early start on Sat or Sunday it doesn't start until 7am… earlier on weekdays. Very nice pool/hot tub setting. For easy access with no stairs or elevator ask for a room in the 240s and enter through the back entrance 6.

Awesome staff! Great rooms! Rarely are there issues when I stay here but if there are, it is fixed promptly. Would highly recommend. Pool area looks great as well (never used as I'm there on business)

I was there for a New Year's Eve event in one of their banquet rooms. The food the hotel makes is actually really, really good. We had our wedding reception there a few years ago and the taco bar we chose for the reception was amazing. Otherwise it's a pretty nice hotel for the area with a decent indoor pool and recreation area.

Internet was good, no speed issues. TV reception was excellent. Room was very clean, halls and public spaces were well-maintained. The indoor pool was nice, and I liked that they had things like ping-pong tables and boxes of Duplos for kids to play with. Breakfast was standard basic hotel fare, nothing better or worse than you'd get from any other mid-range hotel Continental breakfast. While the room and linens were clean and comfortable, the bed was hard as a rock. Pretty standard for hotels but made it difficult to sleep.

It's a nice place for families, decor is older, but clean and nice. The pool area is very nice and they served an excellent breakfast. Highly recommend if you are needing a place to stay in Dubuque.

We had our wedding there in Oct of this year and from the start we could not be happier with our venue choice! Everyone there was so helpful and nice. The wedding day and reception went perfectly, everyone stated how nice the staff was and how absolutely delicious the food was! We could not of been happier with Diana, I would email her and usually with in a hour or 2 she was emailing me back. She helped me when I was lost and always made sure all my questions were answered! Thank you, thank you.

Stayed here while doing a College visit for our son. Loved that food and drinks could be delivered to the huge relaxation area by the pool/Hot tub. Friendly staff. Very clean rooms and priced affordable for families. Would definitely stay here again!

Great hotel for the price. Comfortable, clean and the bed was exceptional. Bath was deluxe sized. Beautiful vanity with surround lighting, large tub/shower with wide ledge for products or sitting. "Champs" Restaurant is attached and has room service. Food was good, arrived quickly, and reasonably priced. Would recommend to anyone.

Mike Guthrie is the reason why we enjoyed our most recent stay and intend on returning for many future visits. He is a great role model for people in the hospitality industry. He knows how to make sure guests enjoy their stay. Great facilities, great room and full breakfast. Will definitely come back thanks to Mike.

Best hotel we've stayed at in a loooong time! CLEAN! Comfy beds & pillows! TONS of outlets & charges in perfect locations! Amazing layout with HUGE CLEAN bathrooms! Bathroom mirror had the best lighting I've seen in years! Nice big TV. Great big room with big window overlooking the beautiful big pool & game area. Only disappointment was the mini fridge really wasn't keeping our things too cold.

Really awesome pool area that included a pool table and ping pong tables. Hot tub was also really good. Very clean and nice staff. Had a problem with our bill and they were able to fix it for us. Overall really great stay!.

Clean rooms, friendly staff. Great pool in the center of the room. Booked a first floor room by the pool and it was fabulous for the kids to come and go as they pleased. Has all the amenities I look for. Breakfast was simple, but very good quality. Overall a great bargain for a nice hotel stay.

Absolutely hands-down the best hotel stay ever! The staff from the front desk, maintenance, housekeeping, restaurant and by far the most courteous, friendly and helpful I've ever run across in a hotel. The facility is clean and well maintained and the breakfast is REAL. No watery eggs (the real deal), pancakes that are fluffy and delicious, choice of meats daily (sausage links and patties or BACON), biscuits and gravy, yogurt, cereal; it's all AMAZING! Such a great place and in such a charming town with every amenity one could need (restaurants, convenience stores, etc). I hope I get a chance to come back her. I stayed 5 days for my daughter's golf tournament and just loved it!

Very nice place and great staff. The free breakfast Buffett was great. My kids loved swimming in the nice sized pool. Our room was very cozy and plenty of pillows on the beds. Our shower was the only down side, I felt like I was gonna flood the whole bathroom when I took a shower because of the way its built so I put a bath towel on the floor to stop the water from running across the floor. Will stay there again but will call the hotel directly to make reservations so I don't get ripped off by expedia again.

Had my wedding here this past weekend and it was great. All of the staff members accommodated our every request even if it was an inconvenience for them. Food was great as always, and the facilities were outstanding. Definitely will recommend for anyone to have their wedding here.

Hotel room was nice. Comfortable beds and clean overall. The hotel has a large pool area with seating and ping pong tables. Off of the pool area was a small Arcade, laundry and work out area. Hotel is rather large. I would stay here again.

Great price and location. The pool is great for kids and the staff was pleasant. I was not a big fan on the breakfast offered, it would be great if they included a fresh fruit bowl or some healthier options. I would recommend the Best Western for those visiting Dubuque.

I called ahead of time to see if my friend could check-in without me there because my friend was going arrive early than I was able to. The person I talked to on the phone said it would be fine and took my friend's name down. My friend called saying that they wouldn't let him check-in so he had to wait for me, which I was still a few hours away. Strike one. The next day we left to do some exploring and when we came back we couldn't find the television remote. The housemaid made the bed with the remote in it. Strike two. After leaving I thought nothing else could go wrong but that wasn’t the case. I check my expenses for the weekend and found an additional charge from the hotel that was charged upon arrival that they did not disclose with me. Strike three they are out. I paid extra to stay at a nicer hotel for a carefree weekend but with such an incompetent staff it was not worth the extra money.

Our family has always enjoyed our stays at the Best Western. We stay there because of the large open Atrium and pool area. Our grand children come to DBQ and we all hang out enjoying the ping pong, pool table, and swimming pool. We have snacks and pizza. We booked a room (three weeks in advance)! for our son, his wife, and three grandchildren who live in Cedar Rapids. When we arrived at 2:30 on a Saturday afternoon, we were told the Atrium area was closed for a dinner… The tables were all set and there was no where to sit except the few tables and chairs around the pool… which was full already. The only entrance to the pool area was through the Atrium which would be closed from 5:30-7:00. Disappointed that they used this large area, instead of their many banquet/reception rooms for a dinner on a busy Saturday. Maybe they should have let us know WHEN WE BOOKED that the Atrium was going to be closed from 2-:7:30! The room is only a small reason why we stay there… The Atrium/ pool area is THE main reason we stay there.

I had a very pleasant stay at this particular hotel. Services were outstanding, room is very clean and spacious, breakfast was delicious and abundant. I can tell whoever is running the place, knows and cares about their gusts. Very impressed. Would highly recommend!

Very lovely stay! Staff was friendly and helpful! Lovely indoor pool and large hot tub! Our room was beautiful and clean, comfy bed! The complimentary Breakfast Buffet at the adjoining restaurant (Champs) was AMAZING! Would def recommend to anyone passing through the area!

Comfortable bedding. Great to have the Champps Americana attached. Staff was friendly and the complementary breakfast was well prepared.

Staff is great, room is great, free breakfast is good and very convenient, but… They shouldn't offer use of pool as an amenity when they rent it out for parties. The only adult use only of the pool is 10 PM — 11 PM on Fri & Sat, the rest of the time both the pool and hot tub are completely overrun with kids (seemingly unsupervised). And if they're not in the pool, they're running up and down the halls (very load on 2nd floor) … completely inconsiderate of the other paying guests. It's a shame if this nice hotel turns into nothing but a free-for-all.

It's been a few years since I've been here, but the upgrades I saw since the last time were very nice. (additional rooms and door key card that you don't have to swipe, just tap) Hopefully there are more upgrades to come. The rooms are a fair price and none are a far walk from the lobby. The only thing I didn't see clean in the room was the floor between the bathroom floor and wall. It was nice to get a free newspaper at the door in morning. They offer a free breakfast buffet in the morning which was pretty good and had enough options. When I stayed the were a few family gatherings going on at the hotel was sold out. The area around the pool has adequate seating for large groups and the pool and hot tub are large enough to not be over crowded. The ceiling drips and you will occasionally get hit by "rain drops" which is only tolerable after you get used to it or are under a table umbrella. They also have two ping pong tables and a pool table. The pong balls are terrible and the pool table isn't free and should be trashed. The banquet rooms are really nice and have a lot of room for people with plenty of space to walk around. The staff is good, but doesnt come around often to fill drinks. They offer a free shuttle to places near by such as the casinos. Wifi requires a password that can be found at the front seat. When I went down to get more room towels they were out. On a side note a few of the peep holes in the doors are loose and can be taken out.

Had a poolside birthday party the weekend of 12/10. The service was outstanding. The pizza was great, cheesy and fresh. Overall would definitely do again.
