Was very happy as I was passing through and saw they had truck parking and getting short on hours, friendly staff, clean and very comfortable room and very quiet, very good nights sleep and huge breakfast in the morning, and ready well before 6am.

Im staying for business and the hotel is nice. It has a pool, and the rooms are clean. The breakfast looks better than it is, but I can't be picky.

The room smelled horrible. When we asked to move the staff member said she didn’t smell anything. When we were moved to another room the staff member said she would have to warn us it is not as cool as the previous. What she failed to say was the it was an older air unit and was not working properly. Trying to sleep comfortably with a poor air unit after nearly a 100 degree day in Iowa is less that satisfactory.

Great staff, big rooms and very comfortable beds makes staying here a no brainer.

When traveling in the U. S. I always try to stay at a Best Western. The LaGrande Hacienda is in my home town and a friend of our family had it built many years ago. I have not lived in Cherokee for 50 years but go back there a few times each year and for the last many, I always stay there. Best Western is the best way to go. I also travel too other parts of the world each year and I often wish for a Best Western.

Very nice. Great breakfast. Friendly. Obviously an older building but they keep it neat and clean. Conveniently located near McDonald, Casey's, Kmart, HyVee grocery.

Staff is rude and disrespectful… Pool was broke got run is gone bar is gone restaurant is gone just hurry up and close.

My mother, Sandra Lundy, booked this room for us to attend my grandmothers funeral. We are from Cherokee and have stayed here in the past without incident. This time was very different. The staff were rude the asked if there were working vending machines in the hotel as the ones by our room were out of order. I was told to "walk down to the corner if I need something to drink so badly". It smelled wet and mildewy on the hall, so I assumed it was from the pool, but it had been drained sometime ago and sat empty. The room also had a very foul odor, the next morning I saw what appeared to be some kind of bodily fluid that had stained the mattress and mattress pad. It had been covered up by the fitted sheet or I would have requested a new room. The next morning we went for the breakfast that was advertised to be until 9 am, but at 8:45 they had thrown the hot food away and closed up shop. There was some fruit, but it looked as if it had seen better days quite some time ago. I would advise not staying here at all costs, it is expensive for the area, the staff are rude and the facilities are filthy and stinky. It was a horrible experience from beginning to end.

Janelle and her staff are great and really take care of you. The rooms are spacious and provide you with very comfortable beds. The free breakfast is a great and an easy way to start your day every morning.

Our stay at the motel was wonderful. The staff were all very friendly and very helpful. We were there for a family reunion and they allowed us the use of the dining room to gather together. The rooms were nice size allowing some of us with larger families extra needed room. We were also in a pool side room which allowed us to keep an eye on children while in the pool. I would definitely stay here again.

The best… clean, quiet rooms, friendly staff, going hot free breakfast… do NOT stay in the motel across the highway.

Hello! We have been staying at the La Grande Hacienda in Cherokee a couple of times a year for about 10 years and have had many wonderful experiences here. In the last 2 years, 3 times we have stayed here the pool was not in working order, and when we pulled in for thanksgiving this year, we found that the pool was closed. The pool is a large draw for us as we have kids, we would love to continue to stay at La Grande in years to come, but may have to look for other places with a pool that is consistently open.

The Best Western in Cherokee is a motel I have stayed in over the years. It has always been a pleasant place to stay and staff have always been friendly and helpful. The building itself does show age but is well kept and since my stay 2 years ago have done some remodeling both inside and outside. At my last stay I suggested they needed to do some remodeling of the bathrooms for the handicap rooms. The only reason for the 2 star rating is that the handicap accessible rooms are not totally handicapped accessible. If you are in a wheelchair or power chair the bathrooms are very difficult to negotiate. There is very little room to move and transferring to the tub or toilet can be difficult. The motel is a good place to stay, staff is great but just a warning for any disabled using wheelchair or power chairs it's not easy. The rest of the room is great and easy to get around in.

The service was great, very helpful and kind. The hotel had nice upgrades with new carpet, bathroom, clean linens. I've already recommended it to my family staying in Cherokee.

Room 125 window leaks into room and onto air conditioner/ heater. Room smelled musky with this. Walls are thin. Pray for God neighbors. Everything else is appropriate.

Clean and comfortable. A nice breakfast, nice clean pool, and good location for in town and surrounding area.

I spent the previous day working in the area and needed to stay the night here to continue the next day. This motel is primarily booked by construction workers or equal laborers, me being one of them. This motel has been kept very nicely clean in my experience, with very helpful staff. Also I found the rates to be very reasonable. This is a five star motel in the categories it was designed for! Just use common sense when booking it for leisure purposes and think of it as two to three star motel. Happy shopping!

Cleanliness of room and particularly bed/ bedding was great. One thing I look for when checking out hotels are reviews about bedbugs, gladly, I read none and was pleased with the value of this hotel. The outer appearance of the building isn't very nice, but for a clean room, friendly staff and great price it's worth it a stop by.

My husband and I stayed at the Best Western Hacienda while in Cherokee for a family function. The staff was friendly. The hotel seemed clean. The price was very reasonable and fair. Our room had a newer bathroom sink and flooring. The widow to the room actually opened which was nice because the weather was beautiful. The bed was comfortable. The only negatives I could think of were that the pool was not opened and apparently hasn't been functional for quite some time. If we would have had our children with us on this trip that would have been a huge disappointment, but luckily, we did not have them with us this time. The smoke detector in our room chirped the whole first night. But we called them the next morning and they came and fixed it within a few minutes of the call. Overall I would recommend this hotel. But if you are traveling with kids who want to swim, I would call and confirm if you can actually use their pool first.

Would've been much better to have a poolside room if the pool had water in it. In every year past its been a good place to stay.

I was working nightshifts at the local hospital for a few weeks and they were more than willing to help me with my odd hours of check in and check out. The breakfast was better than most hotels and the rooms were updated and clean. I would recommend staying here!

Arrived at hotel… check in was great. Went to use the bathroom in our room and the shower was discussing along with hair balls on the floor and outside of the shower. Then went to pull back the blankets and there was crumbs under the sheets along with hard black things. The pool was also as cold as ice. Will not stay here again.

Upon inquiring on rates which normally run $72.99 per night the motel has skyrocketed their rates to $225.00 per night per person because of anspecial event that is going on in their community… I feel like this it is a disgrace and think it is terribly sad that they are gouging the people that are willing to stay at their Motel. You should be ashamed of yourself Best Western. I will never ever give you my money, ever. Way to take advantage of your guests. You are ugly people on the inside. Shame on you.

Very friendly people who work there. It was so nice to have very helpful Ladies that work the night shift at the front desk. Enjoyed my stay.

First off I would like to state the staff that I personally dealt with was very nice and apologetic for the situations. I had 2 issues with the hotel and reservations. The first being my reservation had been changed without my consent. When I checked in mysteriously my registration number had changed along with the beds requested from what I had set up online. This was minor, and we were able to work it out with friends staying in another room. The second issue is what I really consider wasn't handled very well. When we first went into our room (#117) it had a slight musty odor. We attributed it to the fact the AC unit seemed to pull air from the indoor pool area, and we were only in there for moments since we had a reception to get to. I admit we should have said something at the time, but we were in a hurry and it seemed tolerable enough. After returning to the hotel around 11pm the smell had increased in intensity, so it was mentioned to the front desk. At the time all they could offer us was an air freshener. It wasn't until we took off our shoes we discovered the source of the smell was the toilet that had overflowed sometime before our arrival. The carpet was soaked from the entryway to halfway into our room. The smell was just becoming worse. When we mentioned it to the staff, they were aware of the issue. The admitted they had set a room aside in the case it did not dry out, but by the time we mentioned something it was already checked out.

The room is large, clean, and has a fridge, microwave, tv, WI fi etc. Plus my room is set up handicap accessible.
