While travel through northern Illinois had the need to stay over in Freeport. Decided to stop at the Super 8. This is one of the nicer Super 8 motels that I’ve stayed at. The room was clean and comfortable and the rate was reasonable. Breakfast was available, but the only hot item was waffles from the ubiquitous waffle press. A little more variety would have been nice, but I’m not complaining. All-in-all, the Super 8 is not a bad place to stay in Freeport.

Nice rooms and a fair price. Great location.

They were renovating while we were there. The employees were nice and breakfast was good.

I have to say that we will not be staying here again. 1) there is no pool. 2) the breakfast is not anything u would expected 3) the room had no lock was broken dresser was damaged and mirror was on floor instead of the wall. Switched to a new room and door got locked the next morning so had to get repeat key. Then at midnight someone trued to get into the new room do to the fact that they didn't put in the system they gave us new room. So we had the head desk person of the night basically banging on the door asking who's in there. Almost woke the kids up. Just bad all together.

The bathroom is horrible. There is mold on the shower curtain as well as the ceiling. All the molding around the sink is ether loose or missing. Several tiles on the floor are loose. I hung my bath towel on the towel rod and it came off the wall. The plastic caps on the end of the grab bars in the bathtub are missing and the edges are sharp. Its suppose to be a handicap accessible room and the standard wheelchair barely fits between the bed and dresser to get to the heat. To much furniture in the way to get all the way around the bed. Top of the dresser is damaged. Has holes and chunks missing from it. The bed is terribly uncomfortable. I wouldn't be here if it wasn't a emergency.

When I booked the room it said it has a pool. When I got there to check in the pool is closed and was told by a front desk lady that it been closed for about 3yrs and that it needs a pump that the owner is too cheap to fix it. Them are the words from a worker there not mine. Also the bed was very stiff for the price I paid. I don’t think I’ll be staying hear again.

Our room was nice and quaint. Continental breakfast was nothing to write home about but was okay. The elevator was broken during our stay.

Staff was polite, breakfast was ok, and room was clean. But the beds were hard, pillows old and lumpy, smells like smoke, pool was closed with no tentative open date. They have laundry facilities listed as an amenity but they do not have guest laundry facilities. But the rates are affordable and check in and out was easy and hassle free. We were able to add a night to our stay last minute with no problems.

Took 20 minutes to check in. Room decor was out dated. 20" TV with horrible picture. Refrigerate was warm. Bed sheets had several burn marks.

Under renovation, pool not available, ashtray in non-smoking room, TV all snowy, no plug in tub, staff friendly, breakfast okay. Wouldn't stay again w/o good check & assurances.

I will never stay at this hotel again. It was the most disgusting super 8 ever. Floor was stained, couch was stained, bed made me itch like crazy. Hallway smelled like weed and cigarette smoke all the time. Shower had great water pressure so that was a bonus. There were definitely some strange things happening on the side of the hotel. Seemed like drugs or maybe even prostitutes? I was too scared to check it out. Also people live in the hotel full time. A lot of screaming coming from the room next to mine on the second floor. 0/10 would not recommend.

Was kind of shanty for a super 8 but its a bed if you're not picky.

I reserved a non smoking room. When I checked in first sign in the lobby said pool out of order. I was told it was a non smoking room but there was an ashtray on the bedside table burn marks through out the entire room. No light over the sink no TV remote the phone didn't even have a ring tone the carpet was gross. The fire sprinkler was hanging out a solid inch as well as two of the electric outlets. The security lock on the door was split in two. Stink bugs all over in the hallways. The breakfast was just cereal toast and watered down juice no milk for the cereal. The elevator had what looked to me like deconstruction material (crumbled plaster) in between the gap of the doors and the elevator shaft. Definitely won't stay here again. Next trip to Freeport I'll be spending the extra money at a different hotel. Side note I sleep with a Cpap and it's been three days since our 1 night stay and my Cpap still smells of the hotel even after washing the entire unit and filters.

Hotel is in terrible shape. Holes in the ceiling. Whole place had a funky smell. When I walked in the lobby to check in, hotel guest was threatening to call the police. When I checked out in the morning, there were two police officers in the lobby, obviously for a reason.

Friendly staff happy to accomidate. Everything for the price point is there. All over a great stay at 70 dollars a night.

Staff was friendly. Found a bug. Holes in the window screens. Wall-mounted hair dryer mount dangled mostly off the wall. Hotel was under renovations when we stayed, so I suppose some issues may be due to that. Hotel smelled bad. Wifi worked fine.

We showed up at 3 in the morning and had a reservation and the person behind the desk was asleep in some back room while we had a screaming baby that we were hoping to get to sleep soon and after 10 min we had to call to wake him. He came out and finally gave is some room keys so we go to the room just to find out it was someone else's room all this with a still screaming kid so we head back down to the front desk to get the right keys and the fire alarm goes off for no reason there was no fire. So we get up to our room to see that only 2 lights worked in the whole room we had 6 total. So our room was dark for the whole time. Plus the refrigerator made an a vary loud banging sound every 10 min so we had to unplug it we will not be staying there again.

Stuff bed. Water tastes funny. Was $50 though, so it's what I paid for.

I'll start with being positive. All of the staff were very friendly, I found no bugs, and I didn't die while staying here. In this case though, I'd say you get what you pay for. The hallways looked like they had not been vacummed in years. Getting off the elevator on the second floor, someone with dogs was staying in the room next to the elevator. Each time the elevator went up and down the dogs barked. The hallway smelt like a mix of cigarette smoke and microwaved pizza rolls. Proceed to room 201. First thing I noticed was the smell in the room. It was like I walked into an assisted living facility. There was no shortage of black dirt like smudges on the walls and what appeared to be a small spot of mold on the ceiling. Only 2 lamps with water damage on the shades worked and the plug-in next to the desk was falling out of the wall. The plug-in by the sink stopped working while we were there. The refrigerator did not work and the microwave was not plugged in, though the nearest plug-in also did not work. The sheets looked and smelled clean, but the bed skirt looked like it had not been washed for at least the last two decades. Most furniture was broken or contained spill stains. You are also allotted two small bath towels unless you want to go to the front desk to ask for more. At 4 am I woke up to a very strong odor coming under the door and some loud guests above us coming and going, slamming doors, yelling, etc.

Dirty was a ring around the tub. Linen was nasty had spots on it…

Comfortable rooms. Nice place to stay.

Pool was closed & 2nd floor vending machines were empty. But a peaceful stay.

Great hotel for a good price. Best in Freeport. The staff are excellent and the room is clean. Free breakfast too!

Upon arrival, the front desk clerk was wonderful, we had booked through Wyndham Rewards and prepaid our reservation, which was for 3 nights. Before leaving the front desk, I had ask if we were required to do anything else and they said no. This trip was accompanied by my brother, myself, and my 2 kids. At midnight I received an alert from my bank, stating I was charged $40 from the hotel. I went downstairs to speak with front desk and he was incoherent. I've booked through Wyndham many times before and stayed at other Super 8 motels, never have I ever been treated so poorly. He put his hand in my face and said he wasn't speaking to me. His speech was slurred and I had to repeat my question regarding this extra charge. He then informed me that the $40 charge was a "surcharge" and that it was a 14 day hold for debit card users. After speaking to John the night auditor, I just went upstairs to sleep. I wasn't about to argue about the charge or wake my kids up to relocate to a different location. By 7am, we received a call from the front desk (Morgan). She ordered us to vacate the room immediately and hung up on me. I went downstairs yet again to get some clarification as to why we being forced out of our room so early being that we paid for 3 nights. When I got there, Morgan was being slanderous and disrespectful, I was being cursed at. She said, "F**k off, f**k you", slammed door and ignored me. I have all of this recorded. Is this really how you treat YOUR guest?

Needed a room the price was right clean room decent bed.

This place is junk stay at one. Of the other two hotels in Freeport HERMANT PATEL IS A THIEF AND WILL OVERCHARGE and harass u daily to see If your checking out like you've overstayed your welcome.

May 19-23, 2014. The Super 8 Motel in Freeport, IL. Has deteriorated seriously since the last time family members stayed there in 2012. During the 4 days we were there (visiting family) the trash in the eating area was never emptied, overflowing on the floor. Cereal and fruit were never refilled, and that was about all there was on the breakfast bar. There was a flashing, failing light in the hallway that was never fixed, although we notified the desk. The room was dirty, closet had not been vac'ed. Hairdryer did not work and the microwave only ran when the door was open. Desk personnel were not able to address any of these issues. Never again.

We would stay here again: Dispite a bad rating on a previous review, we booked a night as there were no other rooms available in town. We found the hotel to be clean, modern and comfortable. The staff were friendly and helpful. The pool was small but as we were the only ones using the pool, size was never an issue. 6 or more in the pool will feel crowded. We did request a wakeup call but did not receive it. Breakfast was average.

I wouldn't recommend staying here, we saw more than one cockroach in the hall way, the entire second floor reeked of smoke, the quality of the rooms is questionable. We asked to change rooms when our first room had a laundry list of flaws, our second room was too hot well over 100 degree. Unlike most hotels that keep their hotel rooms cool, this hotel shuts unplugs their AC units the room isn't rented, then has the guest cool the room. It took us 3 hours to get the room to a temperature we could sleep in. Skip this Super 8 and go to Rockford instead. We made last minute reservations via a website, and got to the hotel at 11 PM. We were exhausted. The staff was friendly. He kindly informed us that the Wi-Fi was down. Once we got to our room we found many things weren't satisfactory. The room was too hot (90 degrees in July at night), the screen in the window ripped, the bathroom door wouldn't shut, and the bathroom sink wasn't connected to the counter top. We asked to be placed in another room. This time the windows and bathroom were fine, but the room temperature was way over 100 degrees. Far too hot to sleep.
