Between the mold smell n mildew and them in middle of getting new roof and extremely outdated rooms I wouldnt recommend. Also can yell this used to be a smoking room!

Secluded and quiet. Also equidistant to Dixon and Sterling. The rooms are getting brand new bed linens, flat screen TVs, new refrigerators. The overhaul of the building inside and out is coming along. Also the hotel is under new management committed to bringing the place back to where it once was.

Make sure you know what you’re getting into. This is a clear reason why hotels should have regular inspections to ensure they are up to par. We checked in and the rugs were stained, roach motels all over the room — a relative who was going to stay in another room saw a large roach on the wall, black stains in the toilet, stained and chipped paint in the shower, a musty smell (should I go on). We promptly left and went to a nearby Holiday Inn. The property refused to give us a refund. They can use our $$ to but some quality cleaning products, they should be ashamed of themselves.

This is truly the nastiest hotel ever! A condom wrapper, cigarette butts and Cheetos under the bed and the owner got angry that we complained! The noise level at night was also horrible. Avoid this place like the plague which you might just wind up with if you stay!

Great quick stop for rest and then go also good for getaways because you can stay as long as you want at a reasonable amount, also the owner is really nice and helpful.

Put me in one room all the owners family was there screaming yelling and making noise slamming doors in the hallway complained about it put me in a different room upstairs laying on the bed watching TV cockroach runs across the bed caught The cockroach in a cup and gave it to the owner that was the final straw for me told them give me my money back.

Great place to stay as a quick to go also has great service the owner is really friendly and helpful to you also breakfast is included.

This is an older property. The innkeeper Bob has been working to update the rooms. My room was huge and the bed was comfortable. The rate on a Friday was $45 + tax. They have a nice continental breakfast with cereal. No hot food due to health department regulations. But I would definitely stay again. Their site does say business center, but as of yet, they don't have one.

It was a little dated, but clean and comfortable. And for people on a budget it's amazing! I would stay here again.

I have no idea why this place has only a 3 star. For $50 a night, this is great value. The room was large and open, with a small loveseat in addition to the bed. While slightly dated, everything was clean and ready for our stay. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Would strongly recommend for those on a budget.

We have used this ideal motel, many times, and has been an excellent place to bring family members, such as with alzheimer's, the rooms are large and have a wonderful view of nature, right outside windows, overlooking a perfect sledding hill, for young and old alike, the area has a very reasonable food taxi, that delivers, The staff and owner, have treated us, very well,

Cheap. Doors not secure at night. Poor lighting at night. Pretty empty, but they advertise only one room left. Basically what I expected for the price of $50 a night.

When you first walk in, you're greeted by a stale smell. At the desk, ringing the bell was useless, so we had to call a Chicago area phone number to get checked in. The room was in rough shape — torn/rippling wallpaper, refilled shampoo container, outlet that barely held a plug to charge my phone. Breakfast was for a meager 2 hours and was at best questionable from the prepoured juice and milk glasses to the no-expiration-date bagels. Entrances from the parking lot were poorly lit. Minimal soundproofing between rooms. No discernable checkout procedure. Can't really hold them responsible for the dead guy across the hall though.

Room was dirty, there was no phone, bathroom in slight disrepair, dust on the head board. Staff was rude and the Continental breakfast was worse than a joke.

Management goes out of his way to make customer happy. Great experience. Frequently stay on business trips. New owner is working hard to update. Go Bob.

Newer hotel very good service and best price around.

It's a little run down but I feel safe and the owner was very accomodating. If you book online and have special requests (I needed a crib and adjoining rooms) you need to call them and tell them the requests because they don't see them until you check in.

Place was awesome. The price was amazing. Hotel manager is the MAN! He takes care of everything!

A favorable review for a hotel that has a great location. The rooms are meet and tidy, good beds and the price is the best around. The only recommendation from me is to remodel the bathrooms.

It's a two star joint that's under renovation by new management. Rooms need some work, lime stains in the tub for example, but the staff is so good it makes up for it. Breakfast was re-opened because I woke up late, friendly check in even at 2am, help for handicap guests.

This is a nice motel for the money. The bed was comfortable and very clean. The room was clean and large had a table and couch, which was also comfortable. You can tell the new owners are trying to fix the motel back to its newer days. This is an older complex but nice. The front desk was very pleasant I will let stay here again next time I'm here on business. April 21 2017

Big rooms, not the best maintained hotel. No housekeeping or regular front desk person. Manager lives on the premises, but it can cause a delay in service.

The was not bad. Bed very comfortable. Only thing was where our room was located there was not a good smell, but it was not in the room. Great manager. Heather was very very awesome. Great manager.

The hotel is a decent budget hotel for the area. Friendly and helpful staff.

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Magnuson over the holiday weekend and braced ourselves for the very worst, based on the reviews we read (which didn't stop us from booking since the price was right). However, we were pleasantly surprised! All we needed was a place to rest our heads after a enjoying downtown Dixon's Petunia Festival and the Magnuson delivered just that. The room was clean, the establishment was quiet, all of our amenities worked without fault. And the woman at the front desk was so nice, I have no doubt that she would have helped us out if something had gone wrong. If we're passing through Dixon again, I'd book here for sure. I have a feeling the complainers were expecting the ritz or something. For the price, you can't beat it.

One week I had a decent room, the two following weeks I had a room that smelled of mildew and the bathroom was gross. Low water pressure and NO HOT WATER.
