While not in the flashiest part of Chicago, this hotel is located conveniently close to transit, which allows for a quick trip into the city, or even to any conferences at McCormick Place (which was why I was in town). Though there are a few colourful guests and others around the place, none were really threatening and the staff was extremely pleasant. The room I had was very large and was nice enough for what I needed. There was outside noise a bit, but the air conditioner (which was something other hotels didn't have) helped keep me cool and drown out the occasional sounds. All in all, I'm happy with my stay here.

My room was comfortable and clean. Loved the jacuzzi. The location was convenient. The Ice machine wasn't in the wing I was in.

Would like to give this place 0 stars. This is a drug dealers haven. Went out to the balcony to get some fresh air and literally witnessed 4 drug deals. In 2 minutes. I checked out immediately. I requested a refund for the days I wouldn't be using, and was told I had to speak to the manager. When I finally found her she was rude, and unprofessional. After several calls I finally got my refund minus the tax. Stay away from this place!

Decent location. Workers were very friendly and helpful. Rooms are kind of dated but perfectly fine. Perfect place to stay for someone just passing through.

This is an ok place to stay. Definitely old carpet and furnishings. Cheap place and it lives up to it's 2 star rating. I had no problems and I would stay there again.

Great location but rooms need to be updated and or deep cleaned. Only stayed there because my 2 favorite hotels I stay in when I visit Chicago where booked up. And this hotel was closet to the area I had to take care of business in.

This hotel need to be upgraded in view of the area thats undergoing a revitalization! The building needs to be repainted, the rooms need to be updated with better amenities, like sheets, towels, irons, hair dryers! The location is ideal, being a few minutes from dowtown. Hopefully one these changes will take place, making Amber Inn a great place to stay!

I love staying here. They have the best room service and they are always so accomadating. Great Hotel!

Okay, but this was definitely a Last Choice because there was nothing else available.

Great customer service and the suite we have is spacious I will be coming back again and I highly recommend it.

It is nice place when u staying a couple of hours. I would not recommend more then 1 night here. The televisions are not update. The bedding is not updated. The spread had cigarette burns in it. The heating system was not working properly. The curtains are very old and will not stay closed for privacy. We had to use a safety pin to keep the curtains closed. They say they are family orientated. There is no pool for the kids. This is a place only for emergencies…

We just stayed at this hotel over the weekend. We were there for a national convention that is held in Chicago. Over all the stay was okay, I would not recommend it to anyone, unless the establishment did a complete upgrade to the facility. The rooms are old, and very dirty, no ironing board, no hangers and no mirror in the bathroom. Did not have the room cleaned while there, not sure if it was because I requested one day not to be cleaned. People that was with us experienced bed bug issue in their room. It is sad that the owners can own such a great hotel like South Loop and make it great, but show very little regard for this hotel. Probably will not stay here again in the future. They definitely need to work on this location.

I thought that they did very well they always clean up very respectful to you.

I have been here a couple of times and I can say they are consistent with their friendly service and competitive rates. They only need to improve in cleanliness.

The rooms I've booked were clean on my visits, it's 4 blocks south of Sox pk green line is 2 blocks south of here. An ample parking lot a great soul food restaurant Pearls located on the premises a decent rib/burger joint across the street and a Rothchilds liquor store on the corner. There is a 20 dollar returnable fee for smoking on my last visit though. There are cheaper alternatives if one has flexibility.

I loved my stay at the Amber Inn! It was closed in a court-yard like area that made me feel safe.

Nice place would really like to come here when I have a little bit more money quiet and I have not seen very much happening in Chicago they say it's a bad place but it's not.

Not good unprofessional roach, carpet not clean. Not vaccuum.

They have nice clean rooms. The location is about 8mins from downtown Chicago and 4 minutes from White Sox park 2mintues from the 94 Expressway. The staff were very professional and accommodating. Most places allow you to check in at 4:00pm or the earliest check in by 12:00noon if the room is ready. I was allowed to check in at 8:00am for a special quest to have their room when they arrived from out of town. There is a banquet hall and soul food restaurant connected to this hotel along with a barbeque restaurant across the street. Public Transportation is right outside the hotel. The hotel is two blocks east of State Street allowing you to take the 29 State Street bus to downtown Navy Pier.

I was glad my uncle told me about the Amber lnn. The rates were reasonable the bed was comfortable and the Inn was close to awesome restaurants.

Price is good because of the location to downtown; it should be the cheapest motel/hotels from downtown overpriced ones. It does not have all the amenities of a 5 star hotel, which you might never use, despite be charged, there are at least no bedbugs_ something I fear the most from cheap motels. It has free parking in the courtyard, close to Marianos, and Michigan ave buses. Overnight parking downtown $57. It has security cameras too. So if you want to save money, I guess it's a good deal to stay here. Thanks for reading.

I stayed here in 2008 for a concert that was close to this side of town. I had no complaints as they aren't claiming to be a 5 star hotel. Clean and quiet when I was there and will go back.

Do not ever book here. Walking in, the people were not friendly at all. Going up he the first room we went to, there was hair in the dirty sheets, stains in the toilet, hair in the bathtub, hair in the sink, and trash in the bathroom. After calling the front desk, we changed rooms. The second one was a little bit better. When leaving the next morning, all you could smell was weed. Very trash hotel. Will never stay here again. It is not worth the money that we paid for a "suite. " If I could give it 0 stars, I would.

I stayed there one night had to get send to another room because they had lice in the bed it dramatize me Jusr thought make me itch… smh.

The location was a bit cut off. Anyway, the staffs were good and the room was better than expected.

I love the place I was there on V-Day everything was clean and the staff was very nice. I am going back this weekend.

I enjoyed my stay at Amber Inn. I plan to return soon for another RR with THE LORD. I have no complaints. My stay was quite comfortable and for this to be a southside hotel I applaud the owners on the comfortably. A lady named Martha which checked me in and out at the front desk was very professional friendly and very informative so my stay was wonderful! "Thanks to the Amber Inn"

The service was super friendly, the rooms are spectacular, affordable and romantic and also good for family fun. The free bottle of champagne on Valentine's Day is bringing me and the hubby back again this year. We wouldn't rather go to another hotel. Alot of good memories with the Amber Inn!

Very clean, safe and inexpensive rooms and close to downtown. The parking is surrounded by the motel and feels/is very safe. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to be close to downtown. PS neighborhood is older and very safe.

Appropriately priced, in my opinion. Pearl's next door was amazing. Walked to and from MLK line 3 in the afternoon and late night. Calm neighborhood. Staff was nice and room was clean.

I was pleasantly surprised. I'd recommend the Amber Inn. Being from Detroit I'm used to violence and chaos. What makes the difference is the fact that the nearby projects have been torn down. I went to Chicago for their Taste of Chicago since Detroit can no longer afford a taste festival. The lady at the front desk told me that since the projects were gone the neighborhood has calmed down. After an extensive search for a cheap room I found the Amber Inn. There were no incidents. The linen was clean and fresh. The bathroom was clean. The room had working a/c. The lamps and TV worked just fine and the door locks worked. I went and got ice a few times at night without a problem. Stayed two nights. The front desk clerks were polite. The day clerk told me that they were trying to make the Amber Inn a family motel. They've done a good job. I left valuables in my room while I went downtown and they were still there when I returned. As for the hood I did observe a few men panhandling and a hooker but that's mild compared how bad a neighborhood can become. No gangs, no gunfire. The first night I stepped out at about 3 a. M to get some air, nothing happened, saw only empty streets. The second night the parking lot filled up out of town visitors so people obviously know about this place. The first night was a Thursday and cost me 59 bucks. The second night, Friday, cost me 69 dollars and was worth it.

Food @Pearl's Place is pretty good. They're connected to the motel. But the location sucks! The day I arrived, police knocked on my door accusing me of hiding the suspect to a robbery. Meanwhile I was alone. Projects close by. Not safe.
