Wonderful! Even during construction, this place is fabulous. The rooms are cozy and welcoming, and the view is fantastic. The young lady at check was sweet and informative. A must stay for a true Hawaiian feel! Not to mention so many things in walking distance, and a beautiful path just out the door with bikes included! Love this spot!

Great location, super friendly staff. Walking in to the reception feels like seeing your long lost aunt for the first time in years. They make you feel like family. The rooms are clean and yes, ocean view!

I stayed two nights at the Hotel Coral Reef and thoroughly enjoyed it! I had booked a city view room but was surprised with an ocean-view one. It's definitely a very small hotel, but it had all the amenities that I was looking for in a hotel. A light breakfast (juice, coffee, toast, fruit, pastries, etc. ) is provided in the lobby which can be very filling. Beach towels, chairs, and bikes are available to rent at no extra charge. Wi-fi and parking was included as well. It was nice to have a mini fridge and microwave available in my clean and updated room. The employees were very friendly and helpful. They're working on adding a third story to their ocean-view wing which will provide more rooms for guests and some larger options. I would definitely stay here again.

This place is really great. I booked through Expedia, and yet the staff were super communicative about us trying to check in early. We just wanted to stay an extra night on the island, and this was the perfect spot to do it. Super clean rooms with refrigerator, coffee maker and bar sink. And an AWESOME view!

More than you can find with the average independent beach front hotel. They have a pool, in or outdoor massage, a very nice juice/snack bar. This is where my employer always put out of state visitors and there were no complaints. One caveat, this is May 2018 and if you look closely there is new wood framing on the big waterfacing block. I think they are adding a 3rd story, so there might be some construction stuff for a couple months.

We upgraded to an ocean room and have been in heaven ever since. Our view is amazing! Everyone at the hotel has been wonderful. They have given us great ideas of what we need to do while we are here. Look forward to visiting again in the future!

Very quiet right in the heart of old Kapaa. Does need a fix up with renovations starting soon. Really enjoyed complimentary breakfast on the lania each morning.

Staff was very friendly. Room was nice. Loved the bedding… so cozy. Can't wait to return.

Great hotel! Very clean, the beach front rooms have an amazing veiw of the ocean and tropical palms. Including light snacks for breakfast at the main office, yogurt, granola, coffee and fresh fruits. Steps away from restaurants, just cross the street for a nice breakfast.

We visited and stayed for 10 nights about 9 years ago. We are looking it up again. We found the room at the time was exceptional. To stay ocean front on the sunrise side of any Island for this value was unbeatable! Hoping to do it once again. Timothy.

Ocean front rooms are 100yds from the beach. To see the sunrise, you need only to have the window blinds and your eyes open at dawn.

Unbeatable location, right on the water and near Kapa'a town. Reasonable rates, the rooms could use an update, but still very nice.

We stayed here for 7 nights. The staff is very friendly and helpful. They have free bikes, beach towels and beach chairs. This helped so much! The location is close to town and walking distance to many restraunts. They had complimentary breakfast in the morning with fruits, small donuts, toast, coffee, OJ, and juices. The rooms and bathrooms are very out dated and old however. We had to ask for room service at one point even after being on the beach and out of the room all day. Be forewarned there are chickens and roosters (like most of Kauai) roaming the property and like to crow at all times of the night. Overall we had a nice stay and I would recommend this hotel for the price! Definitely stay in a Oceanfront Room!

Went to Hotel Coral Reef for a couples massage. Best massage I ever received, would definitely book it again.

Charming location within easy walking distance to downtown Kapaa and several restaurants and bars. Updated rooms in a quaint, older hotel. Easy access to beaches, and the multi-use trail. Free bikes and beach equipment to borrow for the day.

This is the first one that genuinely smelled clean. Like, legit *clean*. So refreshing. We pretty much fell in love with this hotel. I'd definitely come back. My only gripe is they put a $300 *per night* deposit on my card without notice. So just expect that might happen. The money was put back in a timely manner. It was just unexpected.

Loved staying here in this little quaint place. We paid an extra 30 a night for beach access and it was worth it. It's within walking distance of many local places and I suggest going to the smoothie place connected to the hotel. I would make this my first consideration when coming back to Kauai.

I hate to leave this hotel in two days. I was celebrating a belated honeymoon with my husband in Kauai. Our friend suggested this hotel after loving her stay during the Memorial Day weekend prior to our stay. We opted for the smaller economy room, but it was up to expectations. I got to speak with Chris, the owner, and found that he is a wonderful, helpful gentleman, ready to accommodate us in any way he could. Wonderful location, wonderful view. Wonderful for couples! I don't think this would be ideal for families (go for the bigger rooms if you are going to bring the kiddos). Our 45 minute plan back to our home in Oahu is going to to break my heart, because this hotel is probably the best I have ever stayed at. I will be returning to this place if I come to Kauai again! Wonderful staff, wonderful accommodations, wonderful everything!

We chose this hotel because it was recommended to us by some friends and we really liked it, too. Very comfortable, quiet, clean, and cozy. Wonderful location, overlooking the ocean, so it was perfect for watching the sunrise over morning tea. The staff was delightfully friendly and helpful. And, of course, very reasonable prices for a beachfront hotel on Kauai. We will definitely be recommending it to others!

It is a relatively small hotel. Their ocean view rooms are freshly renovated and really nice, and totally worth the price bump, the back yard rooms are a bit rusty but generally ok. Staff is very friendly.
