The parking attendant is a horrible person. Had traffic backed up into the street. When you walk into the lobby everything is very nice… except the staff. When we opened our room there were already people staying in it. They told us it wasn't the first time that day that had happened to them. We stayed for 2 nights and that's how long it took for them to get us any towels to our room. This place is a dump and we will never be back. On top of all else, we had a contact high from all the pot being smoked openly around us by the pool, while security was ignoring all the complaints about it. So long, thunderbird beach resort. We will look for you on the news… The only reason I gave 1 star is because you can't post without it.

The only good things about the Thunderbird is the location and rate. The employee standing out front is NOT a valet, rude and is no assistance to anyone. He would rather argue than be helpful. I don’t know why he is paid for anything! We just drove 2700 miles from California in a rental truck pulling a car behind it. When I asked the employee at the front desk where we can park, it was a two hour discussion! I said “We have a 16’ moving truck. ” He asked “How big is it? ” Me, “Um Sixteen feet! ” Not very smart either. The restaurant and bar staff are friendly and easy to talk to. The guy at the pool with towels and tiki rentals was very nice too. Lastly the restaurant and bar closes at 2PM! Really?

The weather is really appealing in March and the staff is very warm and welcoming. Breakfast served is fresh and the place of stay is neat and tidy always.

Stayed here for 3 nights about a week ago. Hotel was fine. Rooms were clean, AC worked well, beds were comfortable, staff was pleasant. Only real complaint was that the walls were a little thin, meaning any noise in the hallway or adjacent rooms could be easily heard. Definitely a good value for the price.

Awesome place to relax at Sunny Isles Beach, Florida. It has restaurant, tiki bar, pool and access to the Beach. The price is very affordable.

The rooms were fine and well kept however the design was far from modern. The hallways were creepy to walk through and smelled bad. The customer service was pretty great though. The one elevator they had was really really small. But despite that the beds were nice the hotel felt simple and I had a good time.

We stayed here in Feb 2018. No problems while there. After the stay is where it went downhill. I had gone back and forth for so long getting a run around of how the account is NEVER in the office. It’s ridiculous. They charged us for two nights of parking when it was only suppose to be 1. And after talking to a ton of people calling every day multiple times a day for OVER a week I got no where and no one ever called me back to fix everything. $14 extra we should not have had to spend when we didn’t even have a car in their parking lot the second day and they knew it! I told them that morning I had returned our rental! The price is cheap so they scam you with what they can.

Wecome friends. The drinks are strong. Nostalgic beachside hotel. Good character, great beach.

Had a GREAT 28th Anniversary here. We will definitely go back. Everyone is friendly, food is good, building and grounds clean.

The staff is friendly, nice pool and the beach is a dream. Restaurant and beach Bar, you don't have to starve or die of thirst! I liked well, are back in October 2018!

Good and simple hotel. The beds are very confortabel and large, rooms well furnished. Staff very friendly and helpful. Take the bus 5 minutes to the chopping center.

A small hotel, nice room and the bed is super, nice size and comfortable, you can sleep very well!
Close to hotel are supermarkets, restaurants, shopping entertainment, everything there. Aventura Mall, 10 minutes by bus, bus stop just outside the hotel.

Very, very, very disappointed with the hotel and the room. Very old, poorly maintained, no water pressure, almost no hot water, ugly everywhere, broken elevator, broken spa, etc, etc, etc. Shame that Irma did not destroy the hotel.

The location is great and the rooms are very comfortable. The worst the attention of the staff leaves a lot to be desired and the facilities a bit old. The elevator hasn't worked for two years.

Comfortable beach side hotel. Very convenient. Older crowd. Food at the restairant was great. Try the turkey club by the poolside.

If I could give this hotel 0 stars I would. We get here and the toilet is clogged, can’t adjust room temperature, hairs on the towels, and I’ve machine is broken. The elevator is also broken so we had to lug our suitcases up the stairs. We went down to complain and the front desk replies with “this is a cheap hotel”. This is not a cheap hotel. It is over $200 a night about an hour from our destination. Then the day before we are suppose to check out, we get a phone call and she rudely tells us we need to check out, even though our checkout is tomorrow. Staff is rude and so is management. Will not be back.

I cannot nor would I ever recommend staying at this place. The day I checked in they put me on the third floor and then said by the way the elevators are not working. I complained about climbing three flights of stairs and only then did they offer a room on the first floor where the air was not working properly and with a window facing a very loud and very active construction site. When I complained again I received a fan to use in the room. Still next to very loud construction site. The pool was dirty and the paint was chipped of of the bottom of the pool and off the steps to the pool. They call this a resort but then on top of the resort fee they charge you to play bingo if you want to play at all. They charge you for umbrellas on the beach but give you a chair and towel. In the room there is a step into the bathroom in the room that is very inconvenient. The water pressure is horrible. The beds are very in comfortable. The Wi-Fi sucks. They get very few channels on the TV but give you a list of several. Very deceiving! This gets NO STARS!

I recommend it. It's nice and quiet.

I was in this hotel in January although the weather didn't help is a nice hotel that stands out for its direct exit to the beach. In if it is an old hotel and compared to the area this stands out. Spacious and comfortable rooms also has a pool that you can take advantage of quite.

The only passable thing was two employees treated us well.
The Bad rest! The rooms were clean, the bathroom was not very good, the service was very good, the beach was very good. I don't recommend it, I wouldn't go back.

The blonde miss of the reception a very bad person predisposed, all that one asks you annoys, only speaks English, if you ask him to explain to you that this charging you treats you badly. For this kind of person would not return to the hotel.

I clarify something first. It's my 3 year coming. I like the hotel, the area that this, the staff always of 10. This year after the hurricane was not great as always, it is old the hotel but always well maintained. This time you see that as a hill was not in optimal conditions nothing that one can not overcome but I hope it improves. Because I'll be back.

This was such a disappointment. We spent so much money and had a great anniversary trip plans and the hotel is nothing like the pictures very dated and run-down no customer service whatsoever. And the mandatory parking valet situation is a joke with the valet is being very rude and disrespectful.

A time capsule. Reservations say free Wi-Fi breakfast and parking. This is false when you get there. Only thing furnished in room is soap. Water never got hot in shower. Maids did a good job with what they have to work with. Electric outlets do not all work and staff does not care. Pool towels old and tattered and pool bartender short with me and rude enough that I went elsewhere. Stay one night maybe but not more for sure. Beach area nice.

Despite not being a 5 star hotel, it is good for the location it has. Everything is at hand. To improve: The gringo who attends the reception, and valet parking (a paisa), should send them to do a course on interpersonal relations and customer service. Rest, everything's fine.

Very old crummy place with cracks everywhere. Bath faucet doesn't work, blackout curtains don't close fully, can't set room temperature-central setting for all. Only 2 bathroom and beach towels included when 4 people check in. Last but not least, elevator broken — if you are on 3rd floor, with multiple bags you will get an exercise (not a bad thing) up the emergency staircase. Big shock initially but we humans get used to anything. Will never come back. Spend some more and get a decent place.

Very old hotel in need of serios renovations and cleaning. The staff is not friendly but will accommodate if you're persistent. Rooms on the pool side are a little better than on the north side where there is construction that starts between 6:30 and 7:00am. Rooms with carpet are not vacuumed so a room with tile floors is better because they are swept. The location of the hotel is great; right on the beach. There are two bars right at the hotel and a restaurant. Shops and restaurants within short walking distance.

Excellent location just steps from the beach. Very agreeable. If you are very fussy you pay double and you will have something better. Good value for money I recommend it.

If you like cheap, it works just enough to sleep. The issues that were not told to us upon reservation or check in were the following: elevators don’t work, construction next door starts at 6:30am, part of the hotel is destroyed from the last hurricane, valet can only park small vehicles, and internet doesn’t work. When asking about anything, it’s all blamed on last hurricane and you get the deer in headlights look. Being a past resident of SIB, all other buildings have been fixed since the hurricane. This hotel like all other old ones in this town is in its way out to rebuild a new building… obviously. In fact this is the only one still open. The staff is OK but no offers helping with carrying luggage up or down flights of stairs. As for the beach, you can only take your free broken down lounge chair 30 feet onto the beach which avoids being near water. Bring your own chair if you want to be or see the water. The room is like any other cheap motel room but the shower drain is broke but still able to shower. All the issues at this hotel are manageable but you get what you pay for in this town. It’s all about the beach here and not this ‘resort’. No bugs is a plus!

I loved spending a few days at that hotel having good customer service very good view to the sea.

Went for lunch… we were there 30 years ago for our honeymoon! Lovely food and relaxed friendly staff and vibe all through the hotel. Great memories too!

Great location, so close to the beach. Unfortunately that’s about the only good thing about this place. The staff was not friendly, the rooms were hot and smelled like cigarette smoke. The room lacked trash cans and the walls are paper thin. Extremely noisy construction next door and there seems to be very little privacy. A house keeping employee walked in on me with out knocking or checking first if there was any one in the room. The bathrooms were pretty gross. I would not visit this hotel again.

The hotel broke the pipes and the whole first floor full of water. It looked like the halls of the Titanic. We thought the sea had come to our room and Q we traveled in hurricane season…

A very clean hotel, friendly atmosphere, professional staff, has large swimming pool, Jacuzzi, 2 bars, restaurant, services for people in wheelchairs, 24 hour security service, 7 days.

Pretty scuzzy feeling, all tile floors and loud neighbors even after alerting the front desk about it. Noise comes right through the cheap walls. The pool was pretty dirty as well. Ridiculously low pressure in the shower, sandpaper like "bath towels" more like stained cleaning rags. I didn't have a choice in where I was put up and sadly it was here, never would I ever return to this place, and I'm not even picky but this place is a big fat FAIL.

Unique for its exclusive beach where the sun is enjoyed throughout the day, very pleasant atmosphere.

I have stayed here a couple of times. First things first, this is not a luxury place. But it was clean, cheap, have a good location. Also ocean view from many of the balconys. But of course if you are wiling to pay 100US+ more pr night then you find better places down the road. So my 4 star I give in terms of price/loacation/what you get.

Do not stay here! all 5 star reviews are paid for by the thunderbird hotel. Its all false advertising. Hotel does not look like what they advertise. In all my life of traveling and staying in different rat holes that people consider hotels, this has to be the worst. From the moment you park a valet worker is rushing you speaking in spanish and very rude. The clerk in the front desk was horrible they did not want to help at all in a small emergency. The rooms smell weird like a rotting apple that has been left by a rabid raccoon. The bar and bartender are the only things about this hotel that are acceptable. Not a good place.

This hotel deserves no stars. The only redeeming quality of this hotel is the location on the beach and the view from our third floor room. My 17-year-old daughter and I stayed here for college visits. Here's my laundry list of why you should not stay here ever: 1) Staff — Nearly all of the hotel staff are rude. The front desk staff argues with guests. My teen daughter and I were kicked out of the pool by hotel security for not having wristbands. Front desk failed to give them to us when we checked in, nor did we know that we needed them. Only one of the room keys worked and I had to get my key re-magnetized every day. 2) Pool — The water in the pool is hot. It was 95 degrees outside. If the pool is heated, why? People want to cool off. Hot water should be kept in the jacuzzi. Pool towels are only available until 5pm and they have to be returned by 5pm when the pool closes at 9pm. If you don't grab a towel by morning, you won't get one at all. 3) Bath Towels — I left $5 with a note for extra towels. The housekeeper took the money but did not leave the towels. We asked for extra bath towels because we had to use ours at the pool and the beach. They acted like it was inconvenient and would only give us two body towels. The housekeeper said, "You have three in your room. " I responded, "But they are wet. " She refused to give me any more. 4) Room — There were cockroaches in the bathroom and the room was always hot. I had to sleep on top of the sheets our entire stay.

This is a surprising little motel with a fabulous location. It is only a matter of yards to the sandy beach. It has a great pool and sun deck and some of the staff are very friendly. The rooms are spacious but very tired looking. The hotel is in need of a serious amount of refurbishment.

My wife and I live 10 minutes away in Miami Shores, our condo is being tented so we booked the Days Hotel and we love it. The staff is great the restaurant has good food the beach is out back just past the beautiful pool and hot tub. The room is comfortable, everything works! It ain't the Ritz but it's under a hundred a night and for someone who doesn't want to spend 250 or 3 a night it's great. Don't let the poor reviews scare you away, as far as I'm concerned they are unjust.

Ear plugs were the first thing we had to get after the arrival. The air conditioning in the rooms is not steer and blows with an incredible volume so we had to use the earplugs at night. Cleaned the room wasn't well. Still hair in the bathroom had found and then better not continue looking for. In the evening, we had two cockroaches in the room. Oh and a "resort fee" of $15 per day were at the end due…

I have never experienced such disgusting behavior in my life. The manager, Francesca, exhibited the most explicit behavior toward me and my mother. She cut us off loudly when we tried to explain our reservation situation which ended up in her canceling our reservation without reason. Would not nor will I ever book a room with this hotel again. Aside from the worst customer service possible, the hotel itself is average and bad vibes. Do not stay here.

No, it's not a top modern and also not a top equipped hotel sure… but the charm of this relatively small hotel is simply can't be beat. Direct on the beach… who cares there the old swimming pool in the hotel?

Horrible! Just horrible! And is not the employees fault. Is the owners fault and is pretty obvious! They changed me from one room to another because of roaches infestation and more roaches still appeared in the other room. The showers don't work, the rooms smell pretty bad. And where is the valet parking guy? Don't even try it! A better option than this motel is to tight a hammock between 2 palms and sleep there to enjoy the beautiful Miami Beach, rather than staying here!

Very nice and friendly staff. There is also a Dollar Rental Car inside. The property is well kept.

Convenient for beach and various shops… but for the rooms and service you are light years… especially for cleaning.

Violated the American Disabilities Act! They were trying to charge me for my service dog! They knew it was a service dog. But didn't care. Said it was $50 for the dog! ADA rules state you cannot charge a fee for a service dog period. We ended up going to another hotel and since we pre-paid we had the charges reversed. I have never been so disrespected in my life. I have also never had a problem at any other hotel. Stay far away! Especially if you have a disability! Days Inn should be ashamed to have this hotel using their name!

Hi, I wonder whether someone at the hotel or the visitor can help me? I stayed in this hotel 30 years ago does anyone know what happened to Snoopy or Snuffy who worked there. A small fella great character and the bag man was a big man called Steve. I used to go here every year with my family and it was a great family hotel. Also can someone tell what the hotel's previous name was — was it the Monoco or Morroco? Would like someone to confirm please ;-) Thirty years ago this was the best holiday of my life used to love walking over to Dennys for a Banana Split desert — really hope someone can cure the curiosity — thanks in advance.

This hotel was very run down, nothing in the room worked. The kitchenette, outlets, etc. Not working. It was roaches in the room, and something bite us in our bed. You had to pay $14 a day for parking. The only thing I liked was the pool, bar and grill and beach access. Please renovations is a must!

Worst hotel I've been to in my life. Felt like a ghetto north side trap house. Everything in the rooms look like it's from the 90s. Came back to my room with roaches and bugs crawling on my luggage. Spent the extra money and get a better place.

I stayed over the 4th of July weekend. This hotel is a disgrace to the Days Inn brand! Lots of roaches in the kitchen. The refrigerator was broken. The AC thermostat was out of order. The carpet was filthy. The pool was beyond filthy. As we walked down the hall to our non-smoking room, we could smell the smell of cigarettes and marijuana coming from the other "non-smoking" rooms. Very unfriendly porter. When I asked if they had a cart I could use to take our luggage to the room, his answer was. "There should be one in one of the floors. " Finally, I forgot our cooler in the room when we checked out. When I returned to claim it, I spoke to the lady who cleaned the room, the man who threw out the trash, the head of housekeeping and the front desk clerk. The cooler was gone!

Roaches in the room, dirty public spaces, Noisy AC, crappy internet connection. Stay away from this hotel.

Lousy hotel, carisimo for what it offers, very old-fashioned on all sides it seems that they tried to recycle, and they ran out of budget. Above all we'll charge you hidden fees extra on all sides. In summary, don't come here.

I been going to this hotel since I was a kid. It's old dated and can use some work. The security mainly one is super rude I go at least 2 or 3 times a month and he chubby self always gives us a hard time. The parking can improve you have a huge lot across the street but don't allow visitors. That's nuts. HOWEVER if you just looking for a place chill pool side and walk right on over to the beach and also have on site bars. Then by all means. Just don't expect nothing fancy. This place been around a long time.

Only because I can't rate 3.5. Good Stuff First: Location/View-Awesome! Price-Decent. Staff-Nice. Room Overall-Very Good (balcony w/ a view of the Ocean! ). We were blessed with a kitchen and were able to shop across the street to save money for other stuff. The room was pretty clean. Direct access to the beach and the ocean. The view was AMAZING! Bad Stuff: Low shower pressure, saw 1 roach, witnessed scaffolding on several parts of the hotel (repairs/renovations? ), and the breakfast was iffy for my husband. Wish we knew to reserve shade on the beach, or that the cushions were included for free. BUT it was close to everything we needed/wanted (the bus is a great commodity and it's also near the community shuttle which is free! ). Next time we'll probably rent a car but hope their service improves because the valet sucked for a couple of our friends. But we WILL be back! Thanks much.

We stayed in the month of March, unfortunately the staff was not very gentle, since the person who did the check in to the valet parking, and the maids. It is a pity because the hotel is very well located, in addition to having an excellent view, lovely pool and out to the beach. Another thing is that they charge you 13 dollars a day by using or not using only two deck chairs per room on the beach or in the pool and no one warns you at the time of hire here, and you will be charged beyond while not in use. A pity.

This is the worst hotel I've ever stayed in. No microwaves, I asked the attendant if there were any microwaves and he allowed me to use the Employees Microwave. They only had Ice on the 3rd floor and didn't advise the residents of this, we had to search for it. The building is literally falling apart. They should either upgrade or tear it down. In the rooms the beds had wheels on them, I really believe those beds were there from the 1970's. We didn't stay in a room with a kitchenette, however, it appears the stoves are gas stoves!?!?!? I don't understand how they can charge $150 a night, however, they did. The best part of the Thunderbird was the ocean view, but the chairs outside were cracked. The list goes on and on. I hope they replace this one soon. This place is no definition of a resort.

Absolutely Disgusting! The room we got put in was off to one side of the main hotel and seemed to be rooms sat on top of a roof. The room had so many faults that it would take too long to list them all here. The main ones were that the room was literally an old shower room with ancient dirty beds put in it. The paint was peeling off the walls and ceilings, the tiled floor was dirty and had not been swept. The beds had boards under the mattresses to stop them falling through the base. The lamps wouldn't work and then wouldn't turn off and the lampshades were dirty and broken. The worse part was that a door in the kitchen area (we didn't ask for a kitchen), when we opened it led straight into the neighbours room! The bathroom floor was covered in muddy footprints and there were dubious hairs on the floor. As I said there were so many things I could say about this place. Do yourself a favour and don't stay at this hotel, it should be condemned. We ended up after complaining and getting no where with the manager, leaving within 2 hours of arrival and booking in elsewhere.

GREAT clean rooms good food Friendly Staff.

Got there on jan 27th. When we booked we were told it was an good resort. Don't believe everything you hear or are told. Really disappointed. Room was very dirty. Had aunts in the room. Shower broken. One bed was so bad everytime you moved it sounded like ripping cardboard and the other bed had a sheet of plywood between the mattress and the boxspring. No air conditioning at all. The service was terrible. We were short one towel and facecloth and they did not believe us. When we left and told the person working the desk that we were very disappointed the only thing that they said was: " I AM SORRY".

There are hidden fees in the form of 12 dollars for a towel and sunbed (daily). No sound proofing. Beds not comfortable, smells of gas if the hob does not cut off the rear. From Friday to Sunday rode noisy companies, some of them later in the evenings sitting in the children's pool. That the truth is clean after the weekend.

I never saw any bugs but the a/c didn't work so well. Our outlets were very loose example: if you plugged your phone charger into the outlet, it just fell out. Housekeeping could have put a bit more effort into our room. They came and took our dirty towels but didn't replace them so I had to make my friend go ask the maids in the hallway to get me some after I finished showering. They didn't Sweep Our Tile Floor every day even Though It Was Very Sandy. The resort fee was news to us at check in. Location and pool were nice. Food in the cafe was good and a decent price. None of the ice machines worked except the one on third floor and none of the vending/pop machines worked. And forget about breakfast! They said since we booked with priceline we couldn't have the free breakfast. We were not informed of a shuttle of any kind so we rode the city bus. Could have stayed at a better hotel but it wasn't awful.

There is so much complain about this hotel but I loved it! It's a cheap hotel, there is no luxory, but hey what did you expect for this price? It's a cheap hotel where you get a clean room with a bed, TV, Safe, Air-Conditioner and that's all. Furthermore the staff is kind and if you ask you can get an ashtray and smoke on the balcony. There is a 2 bar one is cheap as hell but a lil bit rude and the other is a nice place with higher prices. Oh and yes I almost forget that: You are on the beach next to to ocean. I think the americans nowadays just have too high expectations.

If you book a hotel based on reviews. Just don't book this one. It stinks, A/C does not work, some rooms does not even have a thermostat. Very Dirty outside. And the lost and found department its a failure. That thing needs lots of renovation. this hotel sucks.

The room service was horrible, they came to clean room at about 12 PM, the towels came late around the evening, we complained to get towels and they came around 5 PM, sheets were not changed for the whole week that we stayed. My 2 daughters got stuck in the elevator for 10 mins and no one came to help. The outdoor jacuzzi was not working at all. The beach was nice and clean though.

Poor/poor — — went down and spent 5 days at the thunderbird thinking they had a heated pool that worked-i even asked when signing in if they had a heated pool, they said yes — went to swim and pool was ice cold-i asked about it again and they told me they were working on it — ladies at poolside also complained-and said its NEVER heated-no one in the pool for all 5 days, except some seagulls pooping in it one day — I asked for a partial refund and manager said NO that the pool had water in it! bad bad management and poor pool maintenance. Went to newport beachside and had a wonderfull time in their heated pool. Also the temperature in the rooms at the thunderbird are controlled by staff — air conditioning was on all the time, along with the in room heater (both ran all nite long). This motel gives the days inn a bad bad name.

Never again, the hotel the pool is old, probably older, it is very noisy and the rooms nice. It is not properly cleaned, if it is cleaned at all. On the beach, one must pay for beach chairs and umbrellas for the, Park also is very expensive with $10 and there is no other way to Park: (: (: (the best thing about this hotel is its direct beach location! : o: o: o) ) ) The free shuttle service to the Mall and south beach was very pleasant, that's it then even with the positive about this hotel.

Picked up by accident on arrival in Miami. The rooms are in very bad condition, slit about three inches below the doors. Carpet with bad smell and not clean.
The beds looked more like the military cots. Certain. There is a balcony with two chairs (discolored) that give a great view of the parking.
The breakfast also was what disappointed us at 100%. A glass of orange juice prepared with Taovlo, two slices of toast and already buttered. (who didn't like it is hard! ) American coffee but milk in a bowl type Crème Francaise, at the request for separate hot milk… the looks are strange but in the end bring us two packets of milk heated to the microwave. The surprise is found when the milk will make you pay, looking around you see that it is a family hotel for those who go to the beach and have fun in the beaches without too much demand…
