Friendly nice place to visit.

The heating system was excellent, specious room with comfortable bed, clean, tea coffee was there in the room, the beautiful varanda with chairs and wonderful view. Enjoyed the calm and quiet atmosphere and near to Sequoia National park.

So refreshing! The rooms were spacious, peaceful surroundings and beautifully maintained lawn. Stayed a night on our way back from Sequoia. Wish we could stay longer.

Checked I on a Thursday evening needed housekeeping service Friday for just towels toilet paper ect to find out no housekeeping staff was working I have worked at a hotel for 5 years and this would never happen. Had to go to lobby to get towels I will never stay here again.

I wouldn't stay here again. I check into my room at 830 pm and went to see my friends. I came back around 10 and went to bed. One half our later I found a bedbug on my arm. After looking further, I found more in the bed and on the pillows. Check out Attached video.

Just a quaint lil place. I hope to come back one day! Such a beautiful little town!

Older place bit vary well kept and staff vary nice. Great location to park.

We came in for the jazz affair. We really wanted to love this place but couldnt.
the plus side before all the negative. The place is clean and the bed is comfortable. now the down side.
— when checking in the gentleman behind the counter didnt say anything to my wife but where to sign.
— we requested a downstairs room for reasons of being handicapped and it was denied.
— we notified them of my service dog when we booked. But someone didnt note it and I was uncomfortably questioned and it was demanded I pay the $15 a day fee for pets. I informed them of ADA guidelines and was left alone.
— the shower had almost no water pressure and the hot/cold balance for it was nonexistent. The temperature went from scalding to ice cold evey 30 seconds or so. The tub wouldnt even hold water.
— there were no parking spaces near the rooms for handicap, so making me walk uphill across the parking lot. Then up a flight of stairs with a bad leg
— no outdoor trashcans
— only decaf coffee in the room
— breakfast had only coffee and fruit the first day, second day was eggs and yogurt that were left on the counter without ice or temp control placing them on hazard zone. Waffle batter was dripping down counter onto the floor and no one attempted to clean it.
— its noted that the Wi-Fi is very poor and the password is in the book in each room.

Great location for the National Park.

Broken screens, spider webs everywhere, dead bugs in hallways, no soap or glasses, 8 channel fuzzy tv, didn't replace dirty towels and gave only 3 pillows for a queen bed. AC worked tho and pool was decent. Web pics are deceiving and management said there were bike trails… NOT! Brought bikes for no reason Overpriced for lodge in need of repairs.

After reading unpleasant and bad reviews across Google, Expedia, and Booking. Com, I was afraid Western Holiday Lodge would turn out to be the worst hotel experience of my life. However, this was not the case. The room was actually moderately clean, and the TV was a tube TV as many reviews stated. However, I would agree with many people that hotel needs an upgrade asap. There are many stains on the wall, showers, and other places. The shower floor's paint is very old, and the blow dryer is something I have never seen before in my life. Seriously, is this blow dryer from the 1910's? The service was initially very good, as they replaced our broken coffee machine. However, on the last day, we found to our horror, our towels were all lying on the shower floor, uncleaned, which we did eventually get replaced. The hotel's breakfast is mediocre, something you would find at most motels. One very positive aspect of this lodge is the location, as it is quite close to Sequoia NP. Overall, if you are looking for a short and budget trip to Sequoia NP, Western Holiday Lodge may be a viable option.

Great location to visit the redwood park which fortunately will make you forget this hotel soon.

We spent two nights there. Quiet place 20 minutes from the Sequoia. Large room and bathroom. Breakfast in the norm.

Stayed for one night, the rooms are very dated and decor just downright feels like it's 1995. At $190 a night you would expect updated, not upgraded, just updated amenities such as a flat screen TV, and updated decor. I hadn't seen a tube TV in at least 10 years. Don't book here if you can help it.

The location is good, close to the entrance of the National Park (last village before the gate). The room size is big, the beds are comfy, and the bathroom had a lot of towels. The breakfast is good but the space is limited, we had to sit outside (luckily there was shade and the temperature was nice). It was a little overpriced. I understand there is a tourist village due to its proximity to the National Park, but still I thinks it was kind of expensive.

Stayed at this dump for two nights. First thing I noticed was the temperature of water in shower is opposite of what the handle says, C is hot and H is cold, then it randomly changes while in the shower. One moment it's normal, then cold, then really hot without you touching anything. Secondly, I discovered two mice in the room. Went to the desk and told attendant there and she called someone had only said that they had a "guest" in one of the rooms. Apparently this has happened before because there was no other explanation from the attendant and the person on the other end of the phone knew what she meant by "guest. " I repeat, this place has bad plumbing and a RODENT PROBLEM. I would HIGHLY recommend NOT staying here.

Stayed one night and it was decent enough for one night but far from special. The rooms were large but very old fashioned. The bathroom was acceptable but old. The shower was weak. The view to the river was nice and the balcony was a decent size but it was too cold to enjoy the night we were there. The breakfast room is very small and very packed and the food was pretty much what you have at all motels — we preferred to get coffee and breakfast at a coffee shop down the road.

I needed a clean safe place for me and the dog. Very quiet and friendly. Laid back. Economy. Continental breakfast includes waffles.
Not so good = my room did not have a hair dryer, No designated pet area, Inconvenient parking situation For the rooms near the pool and office.

Great place, especially for the price. The waffles are on point and the view is nice. We had a room with a fireplace, Wich was a cozy feature. The pool was nice and ten feet deep, but the hot tub wasn't working and maybe would fit three people in it.

It was good… for the price. Pros: Price, A. C. Nice and cold, beds were alright. Breakfast. Small outdoor park for young ones. 2 cats that live there are very friendly Coms. Old appliances. Wi-Fi was non existent, never worked for any of us. I feel like front desk could have been better. Never got a receipt, never printed.

Great location at the foothills of sequoia national park, but check in took a while due to nobody being at front desk for a long period of time. Poor Wi-Fi as well, and shower water pressure is quite low too. Thin walls mean you'll hear your noisier neighbours quite easily. Otherwise room was clean, tidy, and pretty well equipped.

This place is ok for its price! a really nice garden and a lake next to the hotel. Subway and a good pizza place 20 mins walk from here. Not really friendly staff but we really don’t care about it :) btw it’s close to sequoia and not bad to stay here for just one night.

The staff is not very friendly, and it's been a long time since I had seen a TV with cathode ray tube!
But the place is nice, and the rooms are OK.

Someone said avoid like the plague, the plagues of moses are here. The water hasn't turned to blood yet but it's cold as an alaska glacier. Anything positive said about this is place is probably by the owners. Wouldn't give it any stars except that one is required to complete review.

Stayed here in 2012 the rooms on the ground floor spacious and with possibility of going out in the garden with possibility of the grill.

We stayed at Western Holiday Lodge on March 25th through March 30th. The four of us were very disappointed. We had to deal with cold showers. I personally walked down to the lobby. The owner would then go turn up the water heater. Room needed updating. We will not be staying there again.

Needs TLC… Room was… umm… It had a bed… Exposed electrical box, open cover to bathroom fan/light… Loose switches… Dank smell… Never ever again.

This place is a little slice of heaven on earth. The cabins are wonderful and our stay was fantastic.

The air conditioner in America will always come on very happily.

Dreadful experience. Avoid like the plague. Room smelt of urine in the morning which was horrendous. An alarm went off in the room next door from 4am & stayed on until the morning so we got no sleep. In the morning we asked to speak to a manager & what a surprise — he’s not here, can’t get hold of him — he will call you… Zero service from the grinning lady at the customer service desk, no offer of a refund without speaking to the manager who remarkably disappears when needed.

A great place to stay for 1-2 nights. Unfortunately, they are very poorly cooked nearby.

It was the worst place I had ever stayed. Carpet smelled badly, bathroom dirty, wrap sheets, pillows were old and smelled badly. Staff was not friendly and worst I ever met. I recommended that never stayed here even it will offer the best prices. No internet at all, breakfast was so cheap and not enough for guests stayed there. This is the worst place to stay.

Hotel Old School for France, Standard for the USA. Well it's true that there is more in France, the TV is as wide as long as high. This is the way hotels after the Wild West. But the privilege is that we are ready of the giant redwood, and that it is a dream, then the hotel does not care.

It was a very chill place. The atmosphere there was great. Everyone was nice and great view from our room. The room was clean and I loved that there was a playground basketball court for the kids. I would definitely recommend this place and would stay here again.

Proximity to the entrance is good. Decent stay. Would have been better if the Wi-Fi worked in the rooms.

The carpet and floors are dirty, paint is peeling in bathroom we were in. The tub and shower had hot water the night before but the next morning there was no hot water except in the bathroom sink. If the owners would spend some $ on this place it would be really nice, it's pretty on the outside but not worth the cost of the room on the inside.

We went during December while the weather was nippy. I have to say I really liked it. Yes it's older. But the staff was very friendly. The heater worked very well, there was a working frig/microwave/coffee maker with coffee supplies/a blw dryer and Wi-Fi. The breakfast was nice and my niece loved the park, and the gazebo was so quaint. Not to mentiin the view. I have 3 cats at home, so I loved the two hotel cats that visited with us. The beds are a lil too hard for my taste, but all in all, I would definitely stay again.

Stayed there about 2 years ago and it was clean, nice view and very well priced. I would like to say the same about this visit but I had gotten bed bug bites from their bed in there. Very disappointed and wasn't given the tight room to begin with.

I had decent hopes for this place after reading some positive reviews but to no avail. The carpet was nasty, the bathroom was no better with a couple of bugs here and there. The Wi-Fi didn't work consistently. The breakfast area had more people than breakfast. Oh well. On a positive note it was a short ride into the park.

Only one wash cloth per room. Ants all over. Slowest internet. Had to go to lobby to get internet. Hot tub had cold water. One positive, the refrigerator worked great.

Upon arrival to the hotel, we were unwelcomingly greeted by the front manager, who just handed us the key and a room number, did not explain Wi-Fi password, breakfast, ice, pool, things to do, nothing. Once in the room, we found 3 foot long spider webs across the window drapes to the middle of the bed wall on the ceiling. There were spider webs on the wall, on the window, on the door, over the bathroom sink, in the shower lights, you name it. There were bed bugs on the pillows and dead flies and alive ants roaming the room. This room is infested, as with other rooms as we tried to switch rooms with hopes it was better. We were denied a refund although only being there two hours. Stay away if you care for your children's health and own health. THIS PLACE IS INFESTED, unsanitary and down right disgusting. Cannot believe with all of this presented we were still denied a refund. Horrible customer service and professionalism.

I stayed here on a trip to the sequoias for the weekend. They only had a "suite" available for 240$. The television had few channels and was fuzzy, the Wi-Fi's connection was non-existence. The room was filthy; bathtub had soap scum, dead bugs (so gross! ), and dirt in it. The floors were gross, the blankets had stains/dirt on them, and the room was overall not pleasant. I would be scared to see what their regular, non suite, rooms look like. I will say, however, that the AC worked fine, the beds were cozy, and the staff was very pleasant. I guess a good shower after a hike, AC to escape the heat, and a nice bed was all I really needed; I have to be honest about the rest though.

We were so worried after reading some reviews from past visitors. We are still here, have had a wonderful time. Staff have been very friendly, the pool is great! The rooms are older but clean. Air conditioner is cold. Rooms are spacious with microwave and fridge, plus we have our own Patio. Wi-Fi works in our room. It has been perfect for us! After hiking, and being outdoors all day it feels great to come back and relax in the hot tub and Pool. We would definitely stay here again.

The place is quiet, Sequoia Park is 20 minutes from here and close to the hotel there are supermarkets and restaurants.

Loved the place. Pretty good breakfast… family friendly kid friendly… they just need to work on the mini frig; it didn't cool to well… but overall cool place would def go back! :-)

It is sublime. Simply perfect. The view from our suite is like an idyllic scene from a snow globe. The fresh mountain air, and the escape from the rush of the city was a well needed experience. The room is beautiful. It is perfectly furnished, with just about everything I could think of. However, the lack of many TV channels was a bit of a turnoff. Overall, it is amazing here.

The room that we were assigned, had a fan, blowing full blast, next to the bathroom. I turned off the fan to realize that we were put into a room that had some sort of water leak. By the smell, it seemed to be a toilet overflowing problem. We should never had been assigned that room. It gave us the feeling that this is a third world hotel!

Visited in April: to avoid if possible.
The room we were told on arrival was not made and there was someone (from the hotel) lying on bed, open door, for his nap. We had chosen this place with pool for the children. Horror, the pool is very dirty (disgusting), full of leaves. The Jacouzzi is cold and not very clean.
Breakfast same catastrophe: Waffle Appliance not maintained! Waffle dough and orange juice rationed!
And the attic, the day of departure, room service came without discomfort, hand vacuuming more than an hour before the time to leave the room!
And, I forget…

Satisfactory upholstery. Big, spacious rooms. A little disappointed with breakfast as just toast and coffee. At $100 a night, expected more from it.

We stayed here on the way to Sequoia National Park. It's right off route 198 and easily mistaken name wise for a best western (it is not one) but in any case as an independent operation it's adequate for an overnight lodging. Rooms are clean in the most generous adequacy. Wi-Fi was available but didn't actually work-no traffic. Breakfast was complementary, Costco muffins, oatmeal packets, Belgium waffle iron, coffee tea. Everything self service. Get in get out, get on with it.

Decent prices and clean property. Easily accessible and fairly close to the entrance of SNP. A tad bit older looking, but service was good and friendly. Amenaties were not extravagant but sufficed when needed. Wifi, if needed, is in the main lobby. If you are just looking for a bed and a few extras this place will work, but there are some more locations a few miles in that might havemore accomodations.

Excellent location near the entrance to the park. Spacious rooms, clean, and heated. Continental breakfast included. Pool clean and available. Recommended.

My family stayed there last month July, 2015 for few days. The room is very spacious for three of us and clean. The staffs there are so nice, even the house keeping people always greet you with a smile face. Breakfast is excellent. Very close to the park. Beautiful location surrounding by mountains. You can easily go to the river — it is a walking distance. You can play basketball, swing chairs at courtyard of the hotel. My kid swam at the pool. We got everything we needed for a vacation. Excellent service. We highly recommend it!

Very stinky room ewwww. I even found empty wine bottles in the nightstand alot spiderwebs on the ceiling. Carpet very duty not a good experience. Is big room is nice view.

Great hotel in an absolutely beautiful location. I loved the waffles! Oh man, I'm still craving those waffles from the Continental breakfast! Friendly and lovely people, fresh smelling laundry.

My wife and I stopped here so that we could start our day bright and early in the forest the next morning. This place was excellent for the low nightly rate that we got. This place is clean, there's a fridge in the room and a microwave. Not to mention they give a free breakfast, toast, waffles, muffins, cereal, OJ, coffee, tea, milk. Not much but better than you can get most places with the low nightly rates. The rooms were cozy and the staff was friendly too.

Good Value! PROS: Clean big room. Huge King bed. Micro-fridge with freezer. Nice staff. Close to resturants and stores. Nice pool and hot tub. Nice landscaping. Good tasting water. Medium quality /quantity continental breakfast. CONS: Wifi slow but OK in our room (1Mbps download and only. 05Mbps upload speed). Wifi non-functional in lobby. Bathroom curtain fell down because it was not attached.

Great place to crash for the night. Came on Oct 22nd and 23rd. Comfy beds, hot showers, decent Wi-Fi, big room, fast heater, close to the park, good price.

It's located a good 10 minutes to when you enter the Sequoias. I like their prices (the best in the area) and their breakfast is pretty decent. I've been coming here to this room three times now. It has everything you would want in a hotel.

Nice place to rest, the day I got there they were replacing all bed mattresses with new ones. Good service and beautiful scenery at sunset.

We stayed here for two nights, after staying in The Wynn, Las Vegas. Quite a contrast! But it is a nice hotel, big rooms, good beds, slow Wi-Fi, but it all works. Ok for 100 dollars a night, and the trees are close.
