Cool place to enjoy a lazy, late summer afternoon. My family and I enjoyed the kayak and paddle boat rentals, snack bar and wonderful retro music. The staff were friendly and efficient; the weather and the water temperature were perfect. At Johnson's Beach, it's always another great day in the Russian River!
How cN anyone not like Johnson's beach? Me, my family and friends have been cooking here for 40 years! It's nice to feel comfortable at a place that hasn't really changed in decades. After never ending changes in the world, this place feels good! I'm not sure if the same people own the snack shack, but at this point, it doesn't matter. The service and food are a treat while at the beach. You really dont need to bring anything. They have it all, and at pretty good prices… The paid parking needs to disappear though…

Al Johnson's Beach itself isn't super impressive, it is fun to rent Kayaks or canoes here and paddle up River. it was a hot day, but if you drape your feet in occasionally and run your hands through the cold water, it is super refreshing and fun. It is $20 an hour to rent a kayak with a Max rental at $50 for the day. And I would recommend stopping off for sandwiches on the left side of the river at The Farmhand.
